Well, Tsunami was still focused on the area around the propellers, so she might at least be able to detect him moving through the water when he gets closer. Should I make a notice check? (also, should I make a notice check to see if she heard the captain? or would the distance/other variables likely make that impossible?)

Inwardly Megan felt a slight sense of relief in learning that Robert was at another facility, not quite sure that she would be up to seeing him again right now. But before she could respond to Katastrof’s comments about his busy schedule and duties keeping him from remaining with Robert as they tested whatever it was that Robert had received, one of the Baron’s employees arrived and began speaking to him in Swedish. Megan gave a friendly smile to the man as he gave the faintest of bows to her. "Well, thank you for the information about Robert Baron Katastrof." The young blonde said with a grateful smile. "I certainly don't want to keep you from anything pressing."

As Megan and Erick made their way to the dance floor, an announcement was made about when the bidding for the auction would begin. Thankfully, there was still plenty of time for some dancing first. Taking Erick's extended left hand with her right, her left hand reaching up to his right shoulder, the blonde smile as Erick admitted that it might become necessary for her to lead. "I will be ready if need then." She replied. As the waltz began, the pair moved out onto the floor, joining the other pairs of dancers already out there. Megan quickly matched her steps to the rhythm of the music, the heels on her shoes not at all slowing her down as she gracefully began to glide across the dance floor with Erick. As she went, the young woman made sure not to get ahead of him. "Hmm, only thirty minutes or so." She said with a feigned look of disappointment. "But I suppose it will have to do."

That would be a miss for both with a 24 and 18.

"Until just after I turned seventeen back in October, I had lived my entire life in a rather remote village in Vietnam." Giang replied. "I was generally discouraged from spending much time with the other children in the village, and had little time to even try to do so, as I was usually kept busy with lessons and training." When the other girl commented on how intense the transition to Claremont must be, the Asian teen simply replied, "to be certain, there has been a lot to get used to here. But in many ways, the structure is not all that different than what my life had been like in Vietnam, though the areas of study have changed somewhat." "How long have you been here Kristin?" She then asked.

"No problem Harry, glad I could help." Lance replied to the rumpled private investigator. "As far as what sort of file the police may, or may not, have, you know I am only given what I need most of the time for what I do Harry. So I have no idea what they have on her." Having decided to follow up on the possible lead involving the aquarium, Harry and Freddy made their way back to the Caddy, and a short while later arrived at the Freedom Aquarium down along the Waterfront. The aquarium was located on its own pier, a large, three story building that stood out from the other buildings built along the Waterfront. Being in the early afternoon on a Sunday, the aquarium was rather crowded.

Megan smiled at Erick's comment about realizing he should be paying more attention to her than focusing on trying to find potential investors. When he stood up and mentioned heading towards the dance floor, her smile broadened. Taking one last sip from her glass, the blonde young woman sat the glass down before lifting her hand and placing it in his, allowing him to help her to her feet. "Well, I am certainly ready to head out to the dance floor for a little bit before the bidding starts." She replied. Once up on her feet, Megan wrapped one of her arms around Erick's, as she added, "So please, lead on."

Okay, they arrive in the sub's launch bay to catch the three gunmen there by surprise. So, they have a surprise round to take a move or standard action. Then we might just start with new initiative rolls.

GM Warp and Tsunami disappeared in the darkness summoned by Warp, only to reappear once more inside the submarine that Tsunami had located. The two teenagers found themselves on a walkway in a fairly large room. Down below them, there was water, presumably from the river, and up along some sort of racks on the far wall was what appeared to be a submersible for transporting divers, along with several empty spaces for at least three other submersibles. There were three of the wetsuited thugs in the room, each armed with a pistol, which they currently did not have ready. All three looked over at the two girls with a look of surprise evident at their sudden appearance. It took Tsunami a moment to take in what was going on after being slightly disoriented by the teleport, but she then moved towards one of the nearest men, getting herself in position that the others might be hesitant to try shooting at her while near him.
-
"I will see what I can do." Tsunami quietly replied to Blod’s request that she try to delay the boat's departure until Blod could investigate the ship’s hold. The task was not as easy as one would imagine, but the Asian teen would not really know just how difficult it might be until she located the ship’s propellers and determined how much water she was going to need to deal with. Turning towards the aft of the ship, Tsunami generally looked down to where she estimated the propellers would be located, reaching out to "feel" the water that was pressing against the hull of the ship. By carefully considering how the water was interacting with the ship, the Asian teen was able to locate the propellers. There was a lot of water to deal with, but she needed to keep the ship still for at least a little while. Reaching out with her powers once again, Tsunami exerted her will on the water that was around the propellers, pushing it away from them to keep the ship from being able to move. There was a lot of water down she needed to move, and the Asian teen had to exert herself more than normal, but she managed to succeed at moving the water. "Alright, the ship is not going anywhere." She replied quietly over the comm., her voice sounding a bit strained as she continued to exert her power on the water to keep it away from the propellers.
-
Okay, she will extra effort to push her power, taking the level of Fatigue for the moment.

"Ah." Megan replied with a small nod as Erick mentioned that he tended to avoid the high society social scene when he could. While the young blonde had grown up as part of that scene, she could also understand how someone might not enjoy it. "Well, maybe you are looking at these events the wrong way." She offered. "Try view going to them as just a rather elaborate business meeting. You stated you had been having a bit of a tough time getting a good investor base for your plans," the young woman swept one of her hands out to the side, indicating the people at some of the other tables, "somewhere out there, there are bound to be one or two that will be interested, and they will lead you to one or two more, and so on."

Giang had certainly agreed with Cerys’ suggestion that they be prepared to stop the group of Serpent People if it appeared they were about to attack someone else. That concern as indeed why the Asian teen had mentioned the problem with just leaving them alone to continue whatever they were going to do. So following John’s suggestion to trail the group, while being prepared to do what Creys’ suggested if needed, certainly seemed the best option at this point. Of course, that meant Giang had to do her best to not tip off their presence to the Serpent People, or the predatory dinosaurs they were using as mounts. Thankfully, the teen was in the middle of the group, the distance from Cerys and Kazra in the lead helping some, but she still had to focus a bit more on being as quite as possible. The pace to keep on the trail of the Serpent People had been a quick one, and by the time that group had halted and the Claremont students had caught up, the Asian teen was sweating and a bit out of breath. Thankfully, she was able to catch her breath some as they watched the Serpent People for a few minutes, until what appeared to be a teenage Roman approached. Giang watched quietly, listening to Subito's whispered translation of what was being said. "I do not believe there was ever any doubt that they were 'up to no good." She replied quietly as she looked over towards the others. "If we stop them, then those they are going to meet will not know how their plan is unfolding in the Roman city."

Cool. Now the next question is whether her standard Water Control (ie move object limited water) is enough to push the water away from the propellers to keep them from being able to move the ship.
-
Okay Supercape, Tusnami is going to try to use her her supersense to try to figure out where the ships' propellers are. The supersense is accurate, so I would think she should be able to tell how the water is displaced by the various parts of the ship resting in it. Let me know if you want me to make a notice check to try to pick up where the shapes for the propellers would be (the supersense has extended range).

"Well, a number of large investment companies and banks have PhDs working for them, and there are a number working for various government agencies as well, but yeah, most end up in academia. And I just don't really see myself there. So overall, it just seems like a lot of unnecessary effort. There are far more people who are extremely successful in business and finance without a PhD economics than there are who do have one." Megan replied with a small nod. When Erick made a small toast to facing new challenges, the blonde lifted her champagne glass, lightly clicking it to Erick's glass. "To new challenges!" She stated with a grin before taking a drink from her glass. When the conversation turned to the view from the massive yacht, Megan looked out over the dark waters, with the bright lights of Freedom City glittering beyond with a smile. "The views can indeed be impressive." She acknowledged. "The annual summer regatta is quite impressive as well, when you get out closer to the city as part of the evening cruise."

Megan listened as Erick talked, eating some of her food and taking a few sips of her champagne. "Boring? No, I wouldn't say it was boring. After all, you already have a gold medal, why not move on to a new challenge?" The blonde stated. "I have thought about possibly pursuing an MBA myself." She then added. "And have thought once or twice about law school. But the MBA would be the more likely. And I don't think I have it in me to try for a PhD in Economics or anything." "Right now, I am still trying to decide what I want to do after getting my degree. Assuming there is some offer from Summit when I am done, I need to decide whether I want to stay there or try something else."

Tsunami looked back to Warp to see the other teen free herself from the net that had trapped her and then quickly get back up to her feet. No longer having a need of the combat knife she had taken from one of the gunmen, the Asian teen dropped it to the ground before running over towards the hole in the wall and looking down. When Warp caught up with Tsunami, she saw the lead bad guy and the other gunman who had just repel down running across the open area on the pier and jumping off into the river. Tsunami's gaze was focused on the water below, an almost distant look in her eyes. "There are several others, moving quickly under water on some sort of submersible." She stated, before pausing a moment. "There is a large submarine that they are heading towards. It is about a sixty feet out from the pier, and about one hundred feet down."

Thanks to the midday Sunday traffic, the drive to Lance's apartment proved to be relatively short. The analyst opened the door almost immediately after Harry's first knock, his face filled with excitement. "Come on in." He stated, letting the two in before heading back towards his office. "Now, if anyone ever asks, I never showed you what I am about to." He stated to the pair. "The only reason I am is that I owe you Harry." Taking his seat at the main computer in the room, Lance looked back at Harry and Freddy a moment as he continued. "Remember that incident at the Freedom City Aquarium back towards the end of January? Bunch of heavily armed mercenaries storming into the place right in the middle of a Monday afternoon only to be stopped by two teenage superheroines?" He turned back towards the computer as he pulled up a video on the monitor. "Well, your girl was one of those two. This is the security camera footage for the aquarium." The image on the screen showed a viewing balcony of the aquarium that overlooked the massive three story water tank that was the central focus of the aquarium. Visible on the balcony was a group of what school kids, an aquarium staff member and two teenage girls, one in costume, the other not. While the picture was not the best, the girl who was not in costume looked like she could be the one in the picture. "Not the best view." Lance stated as the video began playing. "But I can assure you, it's her. There are better shots later. So, right now her and her friend are up on the second floor of the aquarium, a short while after the mercenaries had blow themselves an entry into the lower levels of the building down at the water level. Now watch, several of the bad guys move out on the floor below, trying to secure control of the main entrance of the building. So the two girls go right into action." Lance switched to a different camera's footage, as Harry and Freddy watched as the girl they had been looking for leapt over the second story railing some twenty or more feet above the ground below, her jump taking her down to the side of the main tank, off which she rebounded while executing a flip before landing safely on the floor below. She then brought up her hands as a jet of water shot forth, slamming into a gunman with enough force to slam him into one of his companions, knocking them both out. "So, she blasts a couple more of the guys like that." Lance said as he began to fast forward the video. "Her friend jumped down as well and started kicking butt like she was Bruce Lee or something, while having some sort of portal open that allowed the school kids on the second floor to escape the building." Lance put the video back on normal speed once more as the two private investigators watched a hole get blow in the side of the main tank by some spear shot from the upper floor. "So, the leader of these mercenaries blows a hole in the side of the main tank, threatening all the mothers with their infants and school kid fieldtrips with being swept way when it fully ruptured. But then your girl does-something to stop the water and keep it in the tank till the aquarium staff can activate the emergency draining system." "But whatever she did to keep the water in place for awhile seems to have prevented her from using her water blasts, but that didn't slow her down much, as when some more gunmen show up, she goes all Jackie Chan on them." The video Lance had running showed the girl taking down three of the mercenaries with a variety of martial arts attacks. Lance stops the video and turned back to look at Harry and Freddy. "It took your girl and her friend no more than forty seconds to take down twelve mercenaries armed with sub-machineguns and pistols. They then went after the rest and stopped them as well." "Your girl identified herself as 'Tsunami,' and her friend went by 'Warp.' But you know how it is with teenage heroes Harry, the police did not press for more information about them."

Burning the Midnight Financial Reports from the the SEHK
Thevshi replied to TheAbsurdist's topic in Wading Way
"I think you were just underestimating just how much I have always felt the need to try to measure up with the accomplishments Samantha and Jason have achieved, despite my parents assuring me that I did not need to." Megan commented as Amir mentioned how badly he seemed to be doing at trying to convince her not to accept the transfer Ms. Van Cleef had requested. She then gave a small smile. "But I am not sure how much it will really raise my profile. After all, I am just the intern." She then paused a moment as Amir asked her what she thought about Summit's assets in India and the market there generally. "Well, I feel that a lot of what is available, and being bought up, in the market there is a bit overpriced. Given some of the infrastructure and social issues facing India, it does not seem likely that the long term returns on a lot of those stocks justify their current prices." The blonde young woman began. "As for the assets Summit currently holds, well, in some way, they are a bit more aggressive than what your normal investment criteria, being microloans. However, given the low cost of investment to potential return, along with the wide diversification among the many microloans, that risk has been reduced about as well as could be hoped for. For certain some of the loans will fail, but a massive loss would likely only happen if there is a total meltdown in India’s markets and economy. Given the investments Summit has made in improving infrastructure, the chances of such a complete meltdown happening have been reduced." -
The net automatically fails its Fort save (object), and totally blows the toughness save with a 5. While not outright disintegrated, it is damaged enough that Warp is free.
-
"Yes, there is a considerable amount of resources being used to attempt to locate this girl. But thus far, no one appears to know where she is exactly, so they appear to be casting a wide net, so to speak." Mr. Chen replied. Mr. Chen nodded slightly at the suggestion he keep his head down. "I plan to take some steps to avoid another possible assassination attempt for the near future. Do be careful yourselves gentlemen. I will see what I more I might be able to learn, more discretely this time. Let me know if you learn anything else that might help direct my inquiries." After the two private investigators left, they headed back to the office so they could both get cleaned up. But before they could consider any further what direction they might want to take next in this investigation, they received a call from their attorney, Lucy Harker, who needed their assistance with something. A few days later: Sunday, February 10, 2013 The case that Lucy had gotten them involved in had managed to keep the pair too busy to do much on trying to find this missing girl, let alone figure out some of the big questions that still hounded them regarding the investigation. Today was the start of the Chinese New Year, and as Mr. Chen had informed them, there would be a large celebration in Freedom City's Chinatown tonight. While Harry and Freddy were sitting around the office in the morning, considering their options, Harry's phone rang. Glancing down, the rumpled private investigator saw that it was Lance. "Hey Harry." Came Lance's voice when Harry answered. "I've found something. Your girl's here in town, or, at least was a couple weeks ago. Why do you two come on over?"

Tsunami sprinted in the direction that Warp had gone. As she rounded the corner of the hallway, she could sense the water that had been spilled out of the Deep Ones exhibit tank, causing her to wonder why these men were after those infants. Skidding along the surface of the thin layer of water that covered the floor at the entrance to the exhibit, she saw the hole in the wall, with the man who had fired the explosive speargun spear and one of his gunmen about to repeal out. The Asian teen also spotted Warp just a short distance away, bound tightly in what appeared to be some sort of steel mesh net. The main tank had still not drained down far enough to allow her to release the seal she had put in place, so Tsunami had no real means of ensuring the two villains did not make good their attempt to escape, at least for now. So she instead rushed over to the nearest unconscious gunman, the one who had shot at Warp when she had appeared in the door to the exhibit, and knelt down to draw out his combat knife from it sheath.

GM Dodging aside as Warp appeared near him and tried to attack, the tall man in the stylized wetsuit glanced around a brief moment before looking back over at the slim teenager. "Nice moves girl." He stated while one hand reached down to grab something from his belt which he then threw at her. The object opened up to reveal a steel mesh net that coursed with an electrical charge. The man proved rather accurate with the net, as the steel mesh wrapped tightly around Warp, pinning her arms to her side and her legs together. The electrical current coursed through her, but she was able to resist its effects as the charge was spent, but she fell to the wet floor, unable to move due to the net. "Forget the rest." She heard the man call out to the remaining gunman. "Our employer will just have to be satisfied with those we got already." Turning her head as best she could, Warp could see the tall man making his way over to the hole in the wall, taking up one of the ropes that hung out. She then heard someone sloshing in water as the gunman in the tank that had managed to shake off her attack made his way out and over to the hole in the wall as well, taking up the other rope.
