  1. With a simple gesture, Giang sent the water dragon flying back to the pool, where it dipped into the water, merging with the rest of the water it had come from when she released her control over it. The Asian teen then gave a small smile as Elias mentioned that his mother was from Vietnam. When he mentioned having his powers as long as he could remember, she gave a small nod. "I could see how learning to keep others out would be a necessary skill to develop." She stated. "As for knowing how to run away and hide, those can certainly be useful skills. One of Genghis Kahn's favourite tactics was to use the superior mobility of his mounted army to cause other armies in pursuit to wear themselves to exhaustion trying to engage him. Then, he would encircle and decimate them."
  2. Giang gave a small smile at Kristin's comment about other probably having not so nice things to say about her. "I have not met anyone that has had anything negative to say about you." She commented, rather doubting there would be many, if any, that would. The Asian teen then nodded her head as the Australian teen asked about her being new to the school. "Yes, I started in early January. It has been a very interesting time thus far. Mainly due to the opportunity to be around so many others my own age." The plate on Giang's tray contained a fair amount of rice, mixed together with some vegetables, and a bit of fruit along the side. Though Kat, Mali and some of the other students she had gotten to know thus far had done much to introduce her to American style food, the Asian teen generally tended to stick with more simple meals most of the time. When Kristin mentioned Giang having worked with Morgan, the teen nodded. "Yes, and John Smith as well. And they can be rather..intense. But, given the seriousness of the situations in question, that intensity was rather understandable."
  3. Round Eleven: Main Bad Guy: 26 Merc 7: 18 Tsunami: 16 (unharmed, 3 HP) Warp: 12 (unharmed, 2 HP) The main bad guy throws a net at Warp, getting a 26 on his hit roll. Need a DC 20 Reflex save and DC 20 Fort save (to avoid the snare effect and linked stun effect respectively)
  4. Well, three of the Mercs in the room are going down, the fourth (one of the ones inside the Deep Ones tank) makes his toughness save and is still up.
  5. Megan gave a modest smile at Erick's compliments. "No, my dad's the lawyer. And my brother will be one as well once he finishes law school next year." She replied. "But thank you, it has been a lot of hard work, both to get in and then once there." Of course, the young blonde did not mention that her superspeed had helped at least shorten the time it took to do all that work, allowing her time to both enjoy herself and be active as Velocity. She then shrugged as he mentioned the commute time back and forth between New Haven that she had to make. "It is a small price to pay for having the opportunity for the internship. I am learning a lot at Summit. Besides, New Haven isn't that far away. But I have mainly been taking the train, as that allows me to do some work during the commute, and I don't have to sit in traffic around New York City." When he mentioned sticking with water because he was driving, Megan nodded. "Very responsible. I rented a limo tonight, but I don't plan on drinking too much myself." "So, what are you studying at FCU?" She then asked.
  6. As Warp moves into the doorway of to the exhibit, automatic weapon fire echos from the room, as one of the gunmen opens fire, but misses with his burst.
  7. Round Ten: Tsunami: 16 (unharmed, 3 HP) Warp: 12 (unharmed, 3 HP) Warp is up, as I mentioned last night in chat, from where she is, she can reach the doorway to the Deep Ones exhibit with a move action.
  8. Giang sat her tray down at one of the empty seats as Kristin choked slightly on her food and then introduced herself. "Yes, Giang." The Asian teen replied as she gave a slight bow, her hands together in front of her. "It is an honor to finally meet you Kristin." Taking her seat, Giang kept focused on the other teen as she continued, "That is very understandable. It has been a rather busy past couple of months, for everyone. I am sorry I have not made any attempt to meet you earlier as well. Mali, Kat, Subito and others have all spoken very highly of you." Looking at the stack of books Kristin gestured towards, giving a small nod. "Math is not one of my strongest subjects either."
  9. Giang Trang made her way out of the kitchen of the cafeteria into the seating area, a tray in hand, as she looked out over the busy crowd of students already there. The Asian teen did not see any of the handful of students she knew best, so she instead began searching for an open seat in a less crowded section of the room. As she began to make her way through the room, she spotted a table in one corner of the room that only had one occupant. While Giang had never been formally introduced to Kristin Jones, she certainly know who the other girl was. Giang had been at Claremont only a couple of weeks when the Day of Wrath had occurred, and during those events, she, along with Morgan Crowe and Darren Stelzer, had been deceived by a robot duplicate of Headmaster Summers into believing that the members of Young Freedom had been replaced by agents from the Terminus. During the chaotic moments that had followed what had appeared to be the murder of the headmaster by the members of Young Freedom, Giang had briefly considered engaging Kristin to prevent Young Freedom from escaping. But thankfully, the Asian teen had not done so, and instead had focused her attention on the fire that had been caused by the bomb planted by the robot duplicate, which had destroyed the headmaster’s office and other parts of the administration building. Since that day, Kristin had been very friendly the times Giang had passed her in the halls. And Mali and Kat both spoke highly of the Australian teen. While Kristin seemed rather busy at the moment, this appeared to be an opportunity to at least be more formally introduced. Making her way over to the table, the Asian teen stopped a short distance from Kristin. "Excuse me, do you mind if I take one of these empty seats?" She asked with a small smile.
  10. Megan took a few bites of food as she listened to Erick, along with a sip or two of her champagne. When he turned the question back on her, with the comment about dancing, the blonde young woman smiled. "As much as I can." She began. "But I am also finishing up my economics degree at Yale. Though most of my credits for this last semester are connected with my internship with Summit Transnational here in town. I have a couple of seminars I am taking by teleconference, so I really am only up in New Haven one or two days every other week."
  11. Tsunami continued running up after Warp, managing to make it up onto the third floor just in time to see the other teenager girl disappearing down the hallway that led towards the Deep Ones exhibit. The Asian teen took a moment to glance over at the main tank a moment to see that thanks to the emergency draining the water level was now getting close to passing the hole that was currently patched by water she was holding in a solid state. Focusing back on the direction Warp had gone, Tsunami started forwards, hoping she would be would not be too far behind the other teen when she ran into the apparent leader of this assault.
  12. GM Warp sped down the hallway, intent on catching up with the speargun welding man before he could cause too much more damage to the aquarium. The main tank was still draining, but the other tanks still had their normal water levels, though many of the sea creatures in the exhibits had moved out of sight of the glass walls. As Warp rounded another corner, down the hall she could see the doorway that led to the Deep Ones exhibit. For some reason, there appeared to be a bit more light down there than she remembered from when she and Giang had been there earlier. She could also make out a pool of water that had formed by the doorway, apparently from within the exhibit room.
  13. Velocity ginned widely at Warp's joke about boys. She was glad the teenager appeared to be feeling a bit better and not dwelling on the recent events as she had been before. The speedster knew a lot of those emotions would likely be back by tomorrow, but she had a good feeling that Warp would head some of her advice and it would not be as bad. When the Warp stepped in and gave her a hug, the older heroine did not hesitate in returning the hug tightly. "You're very welcome Warp." Velocity replied. "I'm glad to do as much as I can to help."
  14. "Thank you." Megan replied as Erick commented on her name. The blonde then proceeded to get a plate for herself that contained some pasta salad, fruit, and a couple of the crab cakes she had mentioned. When Erick brought up dancing latter, Megan gave him a wide smile. "I was certainly planning to get out on the dance floor tonight. And as luck would have it, I had not yet found a dance partner. So at the very least, the first few dances are all yours." She replied. The young woman then glanced over towards the table Erick had indicated, noting with approval its wonderful view. "That looks perfect." She stated, as she started in the direction of the table. Once the two were seated, Megan looked over at the blond young man as she asked, "So, Erick, what are you doing now if you're not still training for the next world championship?"
  15. Tsunami did not do very well either, with a 14. Guess she will use a hero point to reroll as well. 21 this time. Tsunami would certainly agree with Blod's suggestion of stopping them from harming anyone else.
  16. Megan took Erick's offered hand as she smiled slightly as Erick mentioned why he would probably avoid the caviar. She then nodded as he mentioned why he had not been part of the 2012 Olympic team after his strong showing at Worlds. "Of course, I'm sorry." She said when he mentioned not knowing her name. "I'm Megan Howell." "I took quite a few gymnastics lessons when I was younger, but then I decided to focus on dance instead." Megan continued. "But I got to use some of my gymnastics background when I was cheerleader at North Bay Academy. Since starting college, I have not really been able to do much of either, though I do keep up with my dancing as much as I can."
  17. Megan had just been considering the various options when a handsome young man appeared next to her, asking what might look good. The blonde young woman gave him a warm smile as she looked back at the elaborate spread. "It is so hard to tell, isn't it?" She stated with a light tone. "But from experience at other events that used this catering service, the crab cakes are to die for. The brie and caviar are excellent as well." She commented. "And to be honest, I believe they do most everything quite well, so it depends on what you're in the mood for." Megan turned back to regard the young man again, a look of recognition crossing her face as she did so. "You're Erick Sloane. I saw your performance at the last World Championship. That was quite an amazing performance after leaving gymnastics for awhile."
  18. Megan's mind was working overtime now, and for her, that was certainly saying something, as she could have a thousand thoughts in the time most people consider only one or two things. Have I ever run into a time traveler before? The blonde thought to herself, trying to recall her various adventures as Velocity over the years. I don’t think so. Lots of people or things form other dimensions, but I don't really recall any time travelers. From Baron Katastrof's perspective, the young woman did not hesitate a moment as she shook her head to his question. "No, I don't believe I have ever encountered any time travelers. Least, not that I know about." "Sorry I could not be or more help with this puzzle Robert seems to have presented you." She then paused a moment, a slightly hesitant look on her face. "So…Robert's here?" She then asked. Megan not being at all certain how to feel about that possibility.
  19. Well, both Giang and John are leery of just taking them out and possibly causing any others to be on heightened alert. I think John's idea of trailing them might be worthwhile, assuming they are not going further afield in their hunting expedition.
  20. "Yeah, I'm sorry about that, but not much I can do." Megan replied when Angus mentioned it was too bad she had to go back to Summit, grinning as the singer mentioned working on a rendition of Stairway to Heaven. "I look forward to hearing that." "That sounds like a plan then." She added as Angus mentioned a possible place for them to include in a night a clubbing. "We just need to make sure we don’t wait till next month to go there." "Well, I need to get going. I'll give you a call tomorrow so we can start seeing what day works." The blonde added with a smile before she made her way back out of the coffee shop. After turning a corner down the block and getting out of sight, the young woman was off again down an alleyway at superspeed, once again changing back to her Velocity costume before looping back around to the scene where the police were starting to get the three villains loaded into a transport to get them to the wharf for transport out to Blackstone. This time, the speedster would accompany them all the way to the prison.
  21. Megan just smiled as Amir mentioned setting up a Twitter account for Ms. Van Cleef, not appearing at all bothered by his hand as he guided her along as they made their way out of the Summit Transnational building. When he mentioned that there would be a more in depth background check taking place and that she or her family might receive some calls from the investigators, the blonde young woman gave a small nod. "Thanks for the heads up, I will be sure to let my parents, Samantha and Jason know so they won’t be surprised or anything if it happens."
  22. Megan shook her head when Angus asked if she had seen what had happened during the superpowered battle. The young blonde did not particularly like lying about this sort of thing, but she had years of experience in doing so. "No, I did not really stay too close to watch, it was pretty clear that a fight was going on. I think there were at least four of them altogether. The last one arrive was a flying woman in a costume that was a stylized British flag." "I am just relieved that you're okay. Those things can get pretty crazy." Megan then stopped herself, figuring she probably should not go on much longer about the super battle. "But anyway, I am afraid I am going to have to take a rain check on seeing the actual recording studio. I just got a call from Ms. Van Cleef, she needs me to head back to the office for something that needs to be done tonight." "But I do want to get a chance to finish the tour, and hear more about what all goes on in getting recording an album and the like. Not to mention, I am so up for getting together sometime soon to go clubbing."
  23. "Until last October, I had never had the chance to travel myself. I have been to Hong Kong, and Singapore. But otherwise, I have pretty much spent my entire life in a very rural village in the northern part of Vietnam." Giang replied as Elias talked about wanting to possibly see the Lost World someday. As Elias discussed his limited skill with his telekinetic abilities, the Asian teen gave a small nod. "I would imagine your control will improve with time." She stated as the water dragon moved off her shoulders and into her hands as she held them in front of her. Looking down at it, she continued, "for as long as I can remember, I have received martial arts training and meditation technique instruction structured to provide me with the discipline and control necessary for when my powers developed." As Elias studied the water dragon, it was very clear to him that it was shaped completely by Giang's precise and measured application of her power to the liquid.
  24. As Megan made her way up the gangplank and onto the massive yacht, the twenty one year old blonde took a deep breath of the chilly sea air. It was nice to get out on the water some, even if it was at the pier. She certainly was going to be looking forward to the annual regatta at the start of the Summer this year. The sounds of the Freedom Philharmonic filled the air, making Megan smile. Though the gathering was to be an auction, she was certain there was bound to be dancing at some point, something she very much looked forward to. Assuming she could find a suitable dance partner of course. Once she reached the main deck, it was not long before Megan had a glass of champagne in hand, taking a few drinks as she began to weave her way through the gathered crowd. Having grown up in North Bay to very wealthy parents, Megan had long been part of this world, and knew a good many of the people here, at least by name. As the daughter of one of the prominent corporate attorneys in the city, she was known by many of the business and financial leaders present. And recently, she had been gaining an small reputation of her own, as she was drawing near the end of her four years at Yale University, from which she would earn an Economics degree, and because she was currently interning with Summit Transnational as part of her last Semester. After a bit of time greeting various couples or groups of people she or her parents knew, the young blonde made her way out onto one of the open decks of the ship where there were a number of tables set out with a wide assortment of food. She wanted to get at least a little bit to eat before trying to head out to the dance floor for a bit before the auction was to start.
  25. Megan grinned slightly at Katastrof's comments about the business side of things. It had been pretty evident to her during the meeting that he understood the business side of things just fine. When the aristocrat explained why he had asked about her connection with Robert, the young woman's brow furrowed slightly. "Robert has some century old artifact that contains a portrait of me?" She stated, not really a question, as she paused in thought for a moment. "I don't really know anything about any artifact or anything that might have been in his family for generations. But as far as having a picture, or pictures of me…well, unless Robert decided to delete them, I would imagine he has more than a few." Not to mention enough of me in a bikini to fill an entire Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue. Or two. Megan thought to herself.
