GM The last of the wetsuit clad men near the door they had emerged from took a slight step back at the sudden appearance of the two teenage superheroines, somewhat shocked by the easy at which they had tore through half the group already. "Security group two has encountered metas." He spoke out loud, apparently into some sort of microphone. "Half team down already, need back up!" Even as he spoke, he raised his pistol towards Warp and fired off a shot. Warp was already dodging, hearing a faint crack as the bullet zipped by to strike a support beam for the main tank that was behind her. There were more screams from visitors that were back near the main tank, having been cut off in their attempts to use the main exits by the arrival of the men in the wetsuits. The other two men who had moved further into the room turned to react to the arrival of Tsunami and Warp as well. The one who had knocked down the security guard turned back towards Warp, brining up his sub-machinegun as he fired off a burst in her direction. The teen rolled across the tiled floor, the cracks of the passing bullets even more faint than the previous attack. The bullets impacted on the wall Kat had knocked one of the men into, sending bits of plaster flying, but otherwise causing little in the way of harm. The man armed with a pistol that had previously shot towards someone the teens had been unable to see turned back as well, taking aim at Tsunami. He fired a shot, but fared no better than his two companions, the bullet impacting on the floor beside her as she dodge aside.

During the hour the group had continued on before John stopped them briefly, Giang had primarily remained focused on keeping an eye on the jungle around them. Despite the events of yesterday evening and the unexpected situation she and her fellow Claremont students now found themselves in, the Asian teen was remarkably focused. She had found a chance to meditate some before going to sleep last night, which had allowed her to clear her mind of any stress and other emotions that had been building up. After John had called the group to a stop, Giang listened closely as John described his plan to try to prevent any duplicates from infiltrating the group. After applying a matching mark to the same spot on her left forearm and covering it with a length of bandage, she passed the marker and remaining bandage on to Subito. The teen nodded when John indicated his desire to gather information on the Serpent People before they made any attack upon them. When he told Kazra to resume their march once more, the Asian teen once again stood up. shifting her pack back into a more comfortable position before starting forward once more.

Climbing down from her perch, Crimson Tiger made her way a little over a block down the street from the building, to where one of the street lights was out, creating a band of shadows across the street she could use to cross with much less chance she would be noticed. Once on the right side of the street, there were plenty of shadows to help conceal her as she made her way over towards the building in which people appeared to be gathering. She approached the building from the side opposite where the people she had observed were entering. Once up next to the building, she found a way up onto the roof. Making her way along, she came to a skylight that had long ago been busted out. Down below she could barely make out the floor of the building below in shadowy darkness. She could hear voices, but they appeared to be further in towards the center of the building, and not anywhere she could see from the empty skylight. Making their way into the old building through the entrance they had seen a few other use, Lucy, Harry and Freddy found themselves in what appeared to have once been a loading area for trucks. The space was a large open area, mostly dark save for a few lights that were on. The floors were dirty and dusty, with scattered debris here and there. In the middle of the interior wall was a open doorway, beyond which appeared to be a open area with a good bit more light. The sounds of dozens of voices all blurred together from that doorway, a likely indication of a good sized crowd beyond. Next to the door was a small table behind which set a couple of men, taking money from the small line of individuals who had formed in front of the table. After the admission fee was paid, the individual made their way through the doorway, past a large man that looked very much like a bouncer. Making his way to one side of the small line, Harry had approached another large man who appeared to have been keeping an eye on the crowd in the line as they made their way up to pay their admission fee. At first the man did not acknowledge Harry, as he was staring over at Lucy, apparently somewhat surprised by her presence. Finally he glanced down at the rumpled private detective, his look less than friendly. "And who the hell are you pal?" He asked roughly.

Burning the Midnight Financial Reports from the the SEHK
Thevshi replied to TheAbsurdist's topic in Wading Way
Megan made her way into the elevator once it had arrived. She was starting to have an idea what Amir's concerns were related to. Since starting with Summit, the young blonde had tried to be careful about not completing work too quickly or taking on more than someone should be able to complete in a reasonable period of time. But, sometimes it was not easy avoiding doing things a bit too quickly, and therefore being able to take on more than she reasonably should be able to do. She knew she would have to try to be a bit more careful of that going forward. "Well, I would say it's my dad who's being the hypocrite." She stated with her own grin. "I can recall plenty of missed gymnastics meets or dance recitals that he was not able to make it to because he had to work. Luckily for Samantha, Jason and I, mom choose to forego any career she could have had to be around for us while we were growing up." -
"Well, I have been at this for more than six years." Velocity replied with a grin. "And was an active member of the Freedom League for over a year." "But seriously, I think it will happen, it can just take a bit of time. Especially if you don’t give them any reason to not trust you." The speedster then added. "When I first started out, I tried to take a little time to talk with the officers when they showed up, particularly as I tended to only be in a few areas of the city back then. When I got to be better known in the city, I started volunteering at fundraisers for some groups that raise money to help the families of officers killed or injured in the line of duty. Little things like that can go a long way."

Merc 6 completely misses his toughness save, so he is out and knocked a good ways into the wall as well. Go ahead with the IC post.

"Yeah, that did start out a little rough there." Velocity replied with a grin. "But sometimes you just got to stick with it, her luck, ran out in the end." The older heroine then became slightly more serious. "Don't let the attitudes of some of the police officers out there get to you Warp. While some are rather resentful of us, in some ways they have reason to be. On one hand, they are expected to try to do something about supervillains like that ice lady back there, even when there might not be anything they can do to stop them. And then there are things they have to deal with day in and day out, often with very little in the way of help from anyone like us, things like child abuse, domestic violence, murders, and rapes. Luckily most appreciate the help we do provide, even if they can be a little jumpy with us."

Seeing the men appear down below, Tsunami moved into action, taking a few running steps over towards the railing of the balcony before vaulting over. Her leap angled her towards the central tank, her feet contacting the tank about halfway down to the floor below. The Asian teen rebounded off the tank, breaking her downward momentum some as she executed a sideways flip to land ten feet from the tank in a low back stance, her arms out to either side behind her. Lifting her torso up slightly, Tsunami brought both hands together in front of her as a twisting jet of water shot forth from her hands towards one of the wetsuit clad men who had not moved from near the doorway yet. The powerful blast of water slammed the man square in the chest and sent him sailing backward where he collided with one of his companions. The force of the water blast was enough that both men continued back another five feet before they slammed into a wall before falling into a heap on the floor.

Tsunami’s acrobatics roll: is a 30 She will use Defensive Attack for -3 Atk/+3 Def and Power Attack for -2 Atk/+2 damage. Uses her blast power, taking 10 as these guys are minions. Hits Merc 4, he has a DC 27 toughness save, he gets a: 13, so he is out cold. She achieves 12 knockback! He is slammed back into Merc 1, who also needs to make a DC 27 toughness save, and gets a: 6, so he is also unconscious.

GM The nearby teacher gave Warp a small smile and a quick "thank you" as the teen created a portal to help expedite her and her students exit from the aquarium. The students, who all looked to be in about second grade or so, were clearly nervous about what was going on, and somewhat apprehensive of the portal that suddenly appeared in the air. However, their spirits seemed somewhat uplifted by the presence of the two teenage girls who clearly had superpowers. As the teacher sent her assistant and the first of the children through Warp's portal, the aquarium employee pointed towards either side of the building. "There are main stairwells on each side of the building that lead all the way down into the lower levels, though you will need an access card to go beyond the main floor." Reaching up around her neck, she took off a cord she had around her neck from which a couple of cards and a few keys hung. "It's the red card." She stated as she held it out towards Warp. Just then down on the main floor, a door along the far wall opened up and a half dozen men dressed in what looked like black and green wetsuits emerged, pistols or sub-machineguns visible in their hands. One of the men glanced around briefly before rushing a short distance forward, coming up behind a security guard who was directing people towards the front exit. The man slammed the butt of his weapon into the back of the security guard’s neck, knocking the guard down onto the tile floor and into unconsciousness. Another of the men in wetsuits rushed forward, passing by the first and stopping between him and the central water tank. Aiming his pistol forward, he fired a shot at some target which was obscured from Warp and Tsunami’s sight by the tank. The sound of the gunshot caused a number of screams and cries, and the two men had effectively cut off part of the path towards the front exit that visitors on the main floor were trying to use.

GM "Can you do that with this then please?" Giang asked, holding out her small backpack. "It will just get in my way." It was then that Warp noticed water was beginning to gather around the Asian teen, an in seconds, a swirling sheen of water surrounded most of her body. The staff member, who was up on the second floor balcony overlooking the main central tank seemed slightly surprised by the appearance of the two teens at first, but only hesitated a moment before she responded to Warp's question. "There has been some sort of explosion down in part of the facilities above the underwater habitats for the animals when they are not up on exhibit. No one is quite sure what caused it right now, or if there is a fire that triggered the alarm."

Ari, I have no problem with something that might invovled Devil Ray. Tiff, I will keep in mind that Nikki is at FCU as I figure things out and be sure to let you know! HG, well, some charity event is always good. Velocity's mother is heavily involved in various charities around the city.

Giang had stopped when there was the faint boom and the floor beneath them shook. Seeing Kat stay in place as most of the other visitors started by the pair, the teenager stayed in place herself, just moving out of the middle of the hallway to give more room for those trying to get out. The Asian teen raised her eyebrows slightly as Kat instantly changed into her costume as Warp. When the other teen started running back away from the exits, Giang moved to keep up with her, though she was still in her normal clothes. "Do you have a way to store other things where you sent you regular clothes?" She asked, as she took of her small backpack to hold in one hand. As Giang spoke, Warp spotted a staff member not far away who was currently directing a group of women and their small children towards the nearest emergency exit.

GM A pair of officers took Snowblind into custody as another apologized to Warp for their initial reaction. "Just can never be too careful here when some sort of hole appears in the air. Never know what’s going to come out of it." The officer stated. While other officers went about securing the stolen money as well as the rest that had still been inside the smashed ATM machine a pair took statements from Velocity and Warp. It took about ten minutes before the officers had everything they needed from the two heroines. Now that the stress of an uncertain situation was gone, the officers were much more relaxed and friendly to the pair, several thanking them after they had finished giving their statements. Leaving the police to finish securing the scene, the pair departed, making their way to another rooftop only a half dozen blocks away. By this point, Warp was no longer feeling any of the effects of the attack that the villainess had hurt her with.

Burning the Midnight Financial Reports from the the SEHK

"I am certain there are at least a few all night places nearby." Megan replied as they waited for the elevator. "But I do appreciate your concern that I may be overworking myself." She then added. "But rest assured, I have always been good a maintain a balance between the things I need to do, be it chores at home, school work, or now work here, and having time for myself and to just go have fun. So far I have been able to go out after work at least once or twice a week with Hakim, Karina and the rest of the twenty-something crowd in the economics group." -
"Yeah, nice to meet you Freddy." Lance replied as Harry introduced the two, returning Freddy's handshake with a firm one of his own, though not nearly as strong. Lance took the picture when Harry held it out, studying it as he made his way into the kitchen to pour some cups of coffee. "Hmm, pretty girl." He stated as he brought two cups back out for the two private investigators. "There certainly appears to be a bit of distortion in this picture, but whether it has been altered, well, we will need to take a closer look for that." He stated, gesturing for the two follow him as he started across the living room towards a door that led to the bedroom he used as his workspace. Inside Lance had set up several tables along the walls of the room, with several monitors set out along two of them and a variety of other media and tech equipment he used in his job. Taking a set behind two of the monitors, Lance sat the picture face down on a nearby scanner. "Let's see what we've got here shall we?" He commented as he scanned it into his system.

Velocity had a faint smile at the sight of Warp basking in the glow of appreciation from some of the civilians gathered on the subway platform. The speedster knew the feeling well herself, and while she might normally have been more vocal or willing to pose herself, she kept things low key, after all, Warp was the one who had needed some motivational support not more than ten minutes earlier. As soon as the teen gathered up the villainess and prepared to step through her portal back to the bank, the older heroine vanished in a blur of yellow, zipping back up the stairs to the street above. Stepping through the portal, Warp arrived outside the bank to find several FCPD patrol cars now gathered around. Several of the officers were looking at her portal with looks of surprise and alarm as they began reaching for their firearms. "Whoa hold on!" Velocity called as she appeared between the nearest officers and the teen with her hands held up in front of her. "We're the good guys here, just brining the one responsible for all this back after we had to run her down." The appearance of the speedster provide yet another surprise for the officers, but they visually relaxed as they recognized her.

"I believe I can do that." Tsunami replied when Blodeuwedd asked if she could create some sort of distraction. Turning her attention towards the front of the ship, the Asian teen focused past her normal senses, focusing instead on the water out to port side of the ship's bow. She then reached out with her powers, taking control of more than ten tons of water and lifting it up into the air, not as the small column she had made when getting herself up, but as an enormous mass of water. After rising it up about thirty feet into the air, Tsunami released her hold over the water, allowing it to crash back down into the river.

Giang gave Elais something of a puzzled look as he apologized for apparently saying something he should not have, though she was not quite certain what that might have been. "No need to apologize." She simply replied. "I do not find it at all surprising that you do not care for water after almost drowning twice." "I have been here a much shorter time." The Asian teen then replied when he turned her own question back on her. "Just a little short of three weeks now, though I was not even here more than two days when I was sent off on a trip to the Lost World with three other students."
-
Yeah, so do I. Velocity thought while she smiled at the taller heroine. "Yeah, sure I can wait for them, though that tends to be the more boring parts of being a superhero." She replied. "Particularly for me, the police are SOOOO slow." "Oh, before you go, you mentioned exchanging numbers." She then added, a card seemingly appearing in her hand as there was a faint blur of movement which she then held out to Young Britannia. "In case you ever need to get a hold of me for some reason." Just at that moment, a pair of patrol cars were pulling up over near the coffee shop where the fight had started. "Wow, how about that." Velocity commented as she looked over in that direction. "The police were somewhat quick today."

At the moment I do not have anything in particular in mind re: Glamazon/Tsunami/Heraldo, but I can put some thought into things. It is always good to get some things going as far as connecting with other characters at Claremont (and there are quite a few). For one thing, as Ari knows, I have some long term plans involving Tsunami, which include at least one multithread story, and it will be easier to include other students that know her than those that do not. As for the FCU threads, I need see how many other PCs are at FCU (I can think of at least two), but I am not looking for any particular number, just need to do some planning and such. In part I hope to use the thread(s) to help set up for a future new character after I get a new slot from a veteran award. But I am certainly up for some thread with Velocity and Omen (I currently have a couple threads for Velocity that are at least starting to wind down). I certainly would not mind including Asad (TA), though not entirely sure how to involve anything relating to Summit (though, perhaps with Asad guest lecturing? (though he tends to focus a bit more on the Ivy League schools)). And as I said before, some high society event is certainly a possibility as well (for both Megan and Asad really).

Giang had a feeling that Kat was somewhat bothered by the Deep Ones being in an exhibit like that, but was unsure what could be said, or even done about it. It certainly seemed to be a difficult situation that the aquarium found itself in, on one hand being one of the few places that could handle the aquatic creatures, and on the other having to deal with the cost of doing so, which was likely to only increase as they got older and larger. There was of course the question of how sentient they were. "So, you were about to say something about a pizza place you know?" The Asian teen asked as the two started making their way back towards the entrance to the aquarium. They were not quite halfway there when suddenly there was a boom *BOOM*, just as the entire building seemed to shake. Almost immediately, the fire alarm system inside the aquarium sounded, with flashing white lights and a high pitched whine. Naturally, this very quickly led to screaming babies, crying children and panicked mothers and school teachers as they started trying to start towards the exits.

Hey HG. My character Tsunami could work well with Glamazon, as she is also at Claremont and very aquatic oriented. (Like Heraldo, does not have a problem with drowning or the like). As for Omen, I have actually been considering working on some threads based around Freedom City University (he is a student there right?) so that is one possibility. Another is that Velocity is also involved in the investment/business world (currently an intern at Summit Transnational (the holding company owned by TheAbsurdist's character Assad)) and, as she is in the same tax bracket, could easily be at some black tie event as well.
