Giang nodded slightly at Elais' response to her question about his injuries, pressing for no further explanation. Stepping off the water, she moved over to her shoes and socks and began to put them back on. If the Asian teen was bothered by Elais' gaze, she did not show it. Instead, she looked up at him as she continued putting back on her shoes. "So Elais, I suppose I could ask what seems to be one of the standard questions when meeting other students for the first time regarding how long you have been at Claremont. Or was there something in particular you were wanting to know?"

Burning the Midnight Financial Reports from the the SEHK
Thevshi replied to TheAbsurdist's topic in Wading Way
Though she was rather tired, Megan knew it would not be wise to turn down Amir when he told her to follow him so they could go get something to eat. Getting up from the chair, she grabbed her bag and headed after Amir as he started towards the elevator. When he glanced back and commented about having the right to tell her when she was pushing herself too hard, the young blonde suppressed the urge to laugh. I wonder what he would say if he knew that just over two weeks ago I spent twenty six hours running over 60,000 miles in order to see the New Year arrive at twenty four different locations around the world. Instead, she simply smiled. "Do you really say that to all the interns, or just ones who's fathers are attorneys?" She teased. "But to be fair, I think you could totally call my dad on that, given the hours his firm generally requires from their associates." -
Burning the Midnight Financial Reports from the the SEHK

"I didn't answer my phone right away because after having a beam of energy pass some twenty feet in front of my car and blow a light pole in half, I was trying to concentrate on getting back home as safely as possible. As soon as I got back to my apartment, I called in to let Mr. Goodwin know where I was." Megan replied when Amir mentioned using a radio collar to track her if needed. "I am sorry that was after you had already left to look for me." She frowned slightly as he mentioned her having the day off tomorrow, but he had made it very clear that was nothing she could say to change his mind. When he asked about her parents, her expression softened. "Yes, I called my mom right after speaking with Mr. Goodwin, to see if she had heard from dad. I went over and had dinner with them last night." -
In a moment, Velocity was over next to Warp as she teenager secured the stolen money. "Nice job." The speedster said to the teen with a small smile. "I was beginning to think it was going to take all night to stop her." There were a few cheers and applause from some of the bystanders, who now seemed to have realized what was going on. There were also a few taking pictures or video with their smartphones. "Think you can teleport her back to the bank with you so we can hand her over to the cops when they get there?" Velocity asked Warp.

With the address in hand and what seemed like enough money to likely be taken seriously as spectators there to bet, the trio made their way back outside and into the Caddy. They did not have too far to go, as the address was in the Fens. It turned out to be an old industrial building down along the waterfront about six blocks East of State Route 6. After parking the Caddy, the three set off on foot towards the old abandon building. The structure was dark against the night sky, but down along the East side of the building a faint trace of light could be seen coming from inside the building. Several figures could been seen in the shadows around the empty lot next door, making their way towards that side of the building. On the rooftop of old warehouse half a block down from the old industrial building crouched Crimson Tiger. The teenager had been busting up a gang down in one of the worse parts of Southside when she had learned the gang had intended to put some of their better fighters into some underground fighting league. Of course, those fighters turned out to not have been anything special, but Crimson Tiger thought it might at least be worthwhile to check out this underground league seeing as she had managed to learn the location of tonight’s event. She had been in place for close to an hour now, and in the last thirty minutes, more than a hundred people had been making their way into the old building. While most likely most of those were spectators, there to watch and bet on the fights, at least a few of them were likely fighters, hoping to make a late entry.

Giang watched quietly as John stepped forward to explain why he felt that Kazra would have to stay with them. His reasoning was certainly sound, and while Giang was not quite certain about the others, she at least viewed him as the de facto leader of their group, if for no other reason than he was the senior student. But of course, there were far more reasons than just that. But young Kazra did not seem to head John's final comment about not being able to trust in what she might claim to be able to do as she listed off her expertise in surviving in this environment. The Asian teen managed to resist the urge to sigh, instead remaining stoic as she took a moment to scan the jungle before looking back at the girl. But then they were off once again, moving in the general direction that they had previously been going, but with Kazra indicating it would likely be best to take an alternate route past some hot springs. Unless John had something to say to the contrary, Giang fell back into place among the group, scanning the area around them as she went.

GM Down in the murky depths of the Centery Narrows, a large dark metallic shape slowly glided a couple dozen feet above the bottom of the straight. "Freedom City is in sight sir." Stated one of the crew members of the medium sized submarine to the imposing figure that stood in the centre of the bridge. The six foot tall figure was dressed in what appeared to be some sort of reinforced black and green wetsuit with a number of hard composite plastic sections. A green helmet covered his head, designed to resemble a snake with an open mouth, in which there was an opaque faceplate. "Continue on course towards the mouth of the South River and the aquarium. We will be holding position fifty yards off the end of the pier." The figure stated, his voice cold and distorted by the faceplate of his helmet. Keying a nearby intercom, he then spoke once more. "Assault teams, gather in the launch bay." With that, the figure turned and walked off the bridge to make his own way down to the launch bay.

It was only a few moments before Lance opened the door, looking out at Harry with a half smile. "Hey Harry, how you been?" The late twenty-something man stated as he stepped back and let Harry into his apartment. Standing about five foot ten, Lance was rather thin. A quick sniff satisfied Harry that he was still clean, which he had managed to be for several years, but it never hurt to make sure. The entry to the apartment was right next to a small kitchen, which looked out over a counter into a small combined living room and dining room. Lance had a small table set up on the left hand side of the room, with four chairs around it. Further to the left was a small hallway that led to one of the apartment's two bedrooms and the bathroom. The right side of the living room/dinning room contained a sofa, facing the right hand wall, along which he had a large flat screen television set up along with a sound system. There was a little bit of clutter on the table and kitchen counter, but not as much as Harry had seen at other times. "It's been awhile Harry." Lance said as he led the private investigator into the apartment. "Can I get you anything?"

Velocity was gingerly feeling her side where Raditron’s blasts had hit her when Young Britannia came flying back over with the unconscious Mindfire. Looking up at the other heroine, the speedster gave a wide smile. "Wow, how did you know? Just what I always wanted." Her expression becoming somewhat more serious, she glanced down at Bonebreaker for a moment before looking back up. "But it is nice to have caught up with these two again, and their friend. Hopefully this time I can make sure they get to Blackstone. They should all be facing some pretty significant sentences. Mindfire there in particular has a pretty long wanted record in Emerald City."

Tsunami (PL 10) Player Name Thevshi Character Name: Tsunami Power Level: 10 (160/160PP) Trade-Offs: Unarmed: -2 damage/+2 attack Unspent Power Points: Progress to Gold Status: 10/90 (Silver Status earned with Velocity) In Brief: Asian water controller on the run from her criminal family. Alternate Identity: Giang Trang; Xian Lou Khan Identity: Secret Birthplace: Unknown Occupation: Student Affiliations: Claremont Academy Family: Kong Zi Khan (father); mother unknown; four half-siblings Age: 17 (DOB: 10//4/1995) Gender: Female Height: 5’ 3†Weight: 95 lbs Eyes: Light Brown Hair: Black Giang has a light build and is very petite, standing about 5’ 3†and weighing a little under a hundred pounds. She has shoulder length black hair that is usually worn in a ponytail and light brown eyes. She has a somewhat youthful beauty. Growing up in Vietnam, she wore rather plain clothing. Since being relocated to Freedom City, she has been provided more typical American teen clothing, though she tends to stick with nondescript and functional attire. She has not yet selected a costume for superheroics. Though not regularly visible, Giang has a series of tattoos that cover much of her upper back. In the center is the I Ching trigram for water, Kan. Four pinyin characters are arranged around the trigram. Directly above the trigram is Shui, the pinyin character for Water. To the left and right are the pinyin characters for the two Celestial stems associated with Shui, ren and gui. Directly below the trigram is the pinyin character for Xuan Wu, the Black Tortoise, the Celestial creature associated with Shui. Arranged around these central tattoos are the seven pinyin characters for the seven “mansions†(or Chinese constellations) associated with Xuan Wu. Giang has had these tattoos for as long as she can remember, and they have remained clear and precise as if they were freshly applied. Power Descriptions: Giang has the ability to control water. In addition to being able to move up to 50 tons of water, she can project powerful blasts of water, create objects of ‘solid’ water and even dehydrate people by removing water from their bodies. She is also able to breathe underwater and survive the cold and extreme pressure of the ocean depths. Water Control Giang’s ability to control water is subtle, only visible to those with Magic or Mental supersenses. Forcefield Giang’s forcefield is a shimmering sheen of water that covers her. Friction Control Giang covers an area in a sheen of very slippery water. Create Object (solid water) Giang is able to create objects formed from water. The objects are very clearly made of water, but they are solid enough to stand or sit on, and touching them does not disturb their smooth surface. History: Giang grew up in a small remote village on the banks of the Dan river in the northern part of Vietnam, though she often felt that she and her parents were somewhat out of place in the village. While most of the villagers’ lives involved the constant toil of farming, her parents did not seem to do any work, and had a much larger home than the rest of the village. In addition, while she learned to speak Vietnamese, along with English and Cantonese, the primary language spoken in her family’s home was Mandarin. Giang’s parents kept her generally isolated from the other children in the village. Instead, her life was a regimented series of private lessons and training. In addition to her language training, she studied the works of Sun Tuz, the history of China and Southeast Asia (with particular focus on the history and tactics of Genghis Khan), as well as the teachings of Confucius, Buddhism and Taoism. She received martial arts training in Vovinam (the national martial art of Vietnam) and Wushu. When her abilities to control water emerged during adolescence, her training helped to provide her focus and control of her powers. Shortly after her seventeenth birthday, Giang’s parents took her out of the village, and Vietnam, for the first time. They traveled to Hong Kong, where Giang was introduced to a man who claimed to be her true father, Kong Zi Khan. Kong Zi told her that their family were descendants of Genghis Khan, settling in China during the Yuan Dynasty established by Kublai Khan. After the end of the Yuan Dynasty, the family’s fortunes had waxed and waned, at times they were advisors to emperors, at others outcasts and members of the criminal underworld. In the early part of the twentieth century, her great-grandfather had been the head of a major criminal organization in southern China. When Dr. Sin began his rise to power, Yu Qian Khan choose to voluntarily join the Doctor’s organization, becoming one of his chief lieutenants. The family’s service to Dr. Sin continued over the next ninety years. However, the family never forgot their own aspirations or desire for power. Kong Zi informed Giang that she was part of the family’s plans to recover its former glory. Giang and her four older half-siblings represented the five phases (or elements) of the Wu Xing: wood, fire, earth, metal and water. Now that Giang was old enough to join her half-siblings, together they would be a formidable force to advance the family’s ambitions. Giang, or Xian Lou Khan as Kong Zi addressed her, was shocked by these revelations. Not only had she learned that the Trangs were not her parents, instead merely Kong Zi’s operatives tasked with raising her, but her ‘father’s’ ambitions and goals were counter to much of what the teenager had internalized during her years of training. While she knew she should respect her elders, she did not want to be part of any plans for conquest or criminal activity. Initially playing the role of the submissive daughter, Giang was soon able to escape from Kong Zi. She managed to stow away aboard a cargo ship bound for Singapore, where she managed to survive on the streets for a number of weeks. Eventually, some of Kong Zi’s other operatives caught up with her. Giang attempted to escape again, and fortunately, Raven intervened helping to defeat Kong Zi’s men. After hearing Giang’s story, Raven was suspicious, not entirely certain this was not part of some plot by Dr. Sin. However, Raven ultimately decided she could not just leave the teenager to survive on her own and took Giang back to Freedom City with her. While neither Raven nor Headmaster Summers fully trust Giang, they placed her at Claremont to give her a chance to prove herself, and allow them to keep a close eye on her. Personality & Motivation: Giang generally projects a calm and thoughtful demeanor. Years of meditation and study have taught her to be centered and focused. She seeks to follow the main principle of Vovinam, expressed by the common salutation for its students: “Iron Hand over benevolent heart,†striving to better herself and her control of her powers in order to not only help herself, but also be able to help others live in peace and harmony. Powers & Tactics: Giang often concentrates on fighting defensively initially, providing her an opportunity to study the situation. She will then use her various powers as appropriate to the circumstances. Complications: Family Legacy: Giang’s family has a long history as part of the Asian criminal underworld. There are many who could be aware of some of her family’s activities, or alleged activities, and be hesitant to trust her because of that. Wayward Daughter: Giang has rejected and fled from her father and family. They would very much like to find her and attempt to bring her back into the fold. It is Just Business: Dr. Sin has often allowed some degree of in-fighting between his key lieutenants, both to help keep them from plotting against him and to weed out those unworthy to serve him. As such, some of the Dr’s other lieutenants could see capturing Giang as a way to gain leverage against her father, or a way to weaken him if they were to kill her. The Doctor is in: There is always the possibility that Dr. Sin might take an interest in Giang, either to determine what her father has been up to, or for reasons entirely his own. Fish Out of Water: Given her upbringing, Giang is completely unaccustomed to American culture, let alone that of the American teenager. Mindfire gets an 11 on her toughness save, so she is out. YB can catch her as her wings disappear and she starts to fall.

Round Six: Velocity: 51(unharmed, 1 HP) Snowblind: 16 (bruised, Staggered & Dazed) Warp: 7 (bruised, 1 HP) Velocity makes an Acrobatics roll to increase her jump: 38, yeah, that can add a lot to her leap. Her attack roll on Snowblind: 30 (almost a critical) Snowblind Tough save vs DC 28: 14, her luck finally ran out. She is Staggered and Dazed. Velocity gets 7 knockback, which would be enough to send Snowblind 100’, but she will hit a support column first. She gets a 24 toughness save and avoids any further damage. With Snowblind dazed, Warp is up! With Snowblind prone, Warp gets a +4 to hit for melee attacks (nice time for a power attack)

There was a WOOSH of air as Velocity comes zipping down the stairs and onto the platform, following the ice slide. The yellow clad speedster weaved around a few of the civilians who barely even had time to register she was there before she was past them. Ducking under part of the ice ramp, she moved along the right side of the ramp, speeding towards Snowblind. The blonde haired villainess was just turning around towards the speedster when Velocity leapt into the air at her. With her momentum and acrobatic ability, the speedster easily made the twelve foot high leap, passing close to Snowblind as she arched over the ice ramp. *CRACK* Velocity's right hand shot out once again, slamming squarely into Snowblind's chest. *WHAM* The hypersonic punch connected solidly with the villainess, sending her flying off of her snow ramp while Velocity's leap carried her the rest of the way over the ramp. Executing a quick piked front flip, the speedster opened back up to land in a crouch at the end of her leap. Snowblind flew a good thirty feet, and likely would have gone further, if she had not hit a support column close to Warp. She seemed to barely be hanging to consciousness and was currently dazed. The bag of money the villainess had been carrying landed between the two.

GM Warp appeared down on the platform of the subway station to find a somewhat chaotic scene. There were more than a dozen people that had been waiting on the platform. Those closest to Warp reacted with a bit of alarm at her sudden appearance. The rest were still focused on Snowblind, who was about in the middle of the platform on her snow ramp, which was lower than it had been outside due to the ceilings in the station. Snowblind was looking around quickly as if trying to figure out what her next step would be. When Warp appeared, her head snapped over in the teen's direction, her piercing blue eyes focusing on the young heroine.

Burning the Midnight Financial Reports from the the SEHK
Thevshi replied to TheAbsurdist's topic in Wading Way
Megan looked up at Assad as he gave her a disapproving look. Knowing she had to play her roll, Megan gave him a tentative look. "Well…I…we were open the following day, and everyone else was coming in." She replied softly. Then she continued, adding a little more confidence to her voice. "I mean, Tuesday wasn't the first time I have had the bad luck being near when something crazy happens. I grew up here after all. Didn't either of my parents ever tell you about the Halloween block party down in the Theater District during my Senior year at North Bay? My boyfriend at the time and I were there when this giant mummy went on a rampage." Of course, after ditching Cory I helped a bunch of other heroes deal with the thing, which turned out to be a giant robot. She thought to herself, but kept a slightly nervous expression on her face. "I was just a bit shaken up Tuesday, but it did not seem any reason not to get back to work." -
Giang looked back over at Kat as she raised the question of whether it was morally right to have the Deep One infants on display like this. The Asian teen looked back at the tank, her expression one of concentration. "By my count, there are close to fifty of them." She said quietly. "It would seem unlikely this would be the goal of any long term plan." Looking back over at Kat, she continued. "Perhaps there is some more information somewhere about what plans there are for raising them? Any long term plans for them will likely be complicated and require a fair bit of resources."
-
GM "Not quite good enough." Snowblind replied with a small smile as she aimed a hand down at Velocity to send out another blast of ice and cold. But once again the fleet speedster easily dodged out of the way of the attack. The villainess let out a little growl of frustration at the failure of her attack. "What does it take to just get away with a little larceny in this town!" Turning away, she began sliding away once more, forming more ice ramps underneath her as she went. Moving down to the next intersection, she once again turned a corner and was out of sight.
-
Snowblind makes another attack at Velocity, missing with a 22. Warp is up.
-
Round Five: Velocity: 51(unharmed, 1 HP) Snowblind: 16 (bruised) Warp: 7 (bruised, 1 HP) So, Velocity again tries to run up the ice ramp, and, law of averages, this time is not quite good enough, as she gets a 16. Acrobatics check to avoid falling damage is a 35, so she lands just fine. She opts to attack with Rapid Fire, getting a: 14, so she misses.
-
Velocity started off once again along the ice ramp to catch back up with Snowblind. However, this time, she hit a slick spot and slid right off the ramp. "Whoa!" She called out as she managed to execute a small flip and land on her feet on the street. "Well, not quite what I wanted, but…" Standing back up straight, the speedster's hands moved in a blur, towards one of the pouches on her belt as she threw a group of steel ball bearings at the villainess. The projectiles made faint cracks as each went at supersonic speed. However, the heroine's aim was off and the hypersonic projectiles all missed their target. Velocity let out a little sigh of frustration at the turn of events.
-
Snowblind gets a 17 on her Fort save, just good enough. And she gets a 25 on her Toughness save.
-
Snowblind fires an attack back at Velocity, getting a: 31, a hit! Velocity has a DC 25 Fortitude save, she gets a: 27, so she is a bit cold, but fine. Warp is up!
-
GM GM Snowblind snaps her head back to look at Velocity with a fierce glare. Sliding down away from the speedster, the villainess loops back around, gaining some altitude over the heroine. "I am going to freeze you solid!" She called out as she raised her hands in front of her. Freezing ice shot out towards Velocity, striking her squarely and coating her with a thin layer of ice. However, with a quick blur, the speedster shook off the ice and looked up at Snowblind. "Were you trying to make a snowcone, or hurt me?" The heroine quipped with a faint grin that distracted from the slight shiver she had from the cold.
-
And Round Four: Velocity: 51(unharmed, 1 HP) Snowblind: 16 (bruised) Warp: 7 (bruised, 1 HP) Not quite as graceful as the other times, but Velocity keeps her footing on the ice ramp with a 21 Her attack roll on Snowblind is a: 16, a miss. At this point, I think I’ll go with a reroll. 28, much better. Snowblind has a DC 28 toughness save and gets a: 27, so a bruise.
