Appearing up on a rooftop along the direction Snowblind and Velocity had gone, Warp could see Snowblind further down the block on her ice ramp, Velocity further back on the ramp, but apparently unhurt. Velocity sped back down the ramp, slipping slightly at one point but maintaining her footing and continuing after the fleeing villainess. "Well, I kind of figured you would just get tired first and give up actually." Velocity shot back at Snowblind, just as her right hand shot out with another *CRACK*. *WHAM* This time the punch seemed to land more solidly, as Snowblind's head snapped to the side and she staggered slightly on the ice ramp.

A hit, but unfortunately, Bonebreaker has 10 ranks of Impervious Toughness to soak the blast up. Now, Round Seven: Velocity: 63 (2 bruised, 1 HP) Mindfire: 21 (4 bruised, Staggered) Bonebreaker: 15 (2 bruised) Young Britannia: 4 (bruised, 3 HP) Velocity will target Bonebreaker for a change, using Power Attack -3 atk, +3 dam: 18, just enough to hit. DC 31 toughness save for Bonebreaker, he gets a:15, so he is unconscious. Mindfire will be choosing to run, so she gets one move action to start flying away. Back to YB!
-
GM Back down the street, Mindfire had finally cleared her head as she looked over in the direction Bonebreaker had leapt. Seeing the large villain down flat on his back at Velocity's feet, she had a sinking feeling. Glancing down, she saw Raditron was also unconscious. With the two heroines still on their feet, and as battered as she was, Mindfire knew she likely had little chance of winning if she choose to continue the fight. So, she turned away and started flying away from the two, hoping that she could quickly find some way to cause some chaos that the two would have to deal with instead of chasing her. She was somewhat wobbly as she went, holding one hand over one side of her ribcage where some of Velocity's ball bearings had hit her.
-
Flying close to where Bonebreaker had chased after the speedster, Young Britannia’s blast struck the large villain square in the back. However, the hit barely seemed to register, as he remained focused on Velocity, swinging his large arms around in an effort to hit or grab her. "See, that's the trick, you have to get a hold of me first. And I just don't see that happening." Velocity offered as she ducked under one of his arms. "Now, back to what I said earlier, you really should not have tried to repeat our last dance, but since you're so keen on doing so…" Standing back upright, her right hand shooting upward. *CRACK* The speedster’s fist broke the sound barrier and connected with the underside of Bonebreaker's jaw with a loud *WHAM* The large villain's head snapped back as he was lifted up off his feet, flying back a good ten feet before landing flat on his back on the pavement. His large arms flopped down to either side and he was out cold. In a blur, Velocity was over next to him, leaning over slightly as she snapped her fingers in front of him a few times. "Yeah, that's what I thought." Standing back up, she looked back over towards where the fight had started and up towards Mindfire, who was just recovering from the speedster's last attack.
-
Snowblind tries to use her snare against Velocity getting a: 23, not quite good enough. Warp has recovered and can act now. With Snowblind out of her line-of-sight, Warp probably can’t teleport to where she is as one move action (as she cannot be quite sure where that might be), so Warp will probably have to spend this round teleporting up to a rooftop to see the street below in order to port by Snowblind next round.
-
GM Snowblind recovered quickly from the hit Velocity managed to land, continuing away some on her ice ramp before looping back around some and gaining a bit of altitude over the section of the ramp the speedster was on. "Don't you just ever give up?" The villainess shouted out as she sent a blast of ice flying at the yellow clad heroine. However, Velocity was just able dodge the blast, which flew harmlessly past to coat a section of the road in ice. Snowblind let out a cry of frustration at the difficulty she was having in trying to do anything against the speedster and then continued forming her ice ramp and sliding along several blocks further down the street.

On to Round Three: Velocity: 51(unharmed, 2 HP) Snowblind: 16 (unharmed) Warp: 7 (bruised and dazed (until start of Snowblind’s turn), 1 HP) Velocity again has to make a reflex save to run along the ramp: 26, so she’s fine. Her attack roll is a: 28 And Snowblind makes her toughness save once again with a 32

"Warp!" Velocity cried out as she saw the teen knocked off the ice ramp by the blast of cold as Snowblind continued her attempt to try to escape from the two. Zipping over beside the car Warp had landed on, the older heroine quickly checked to be sure she was not seriously injured, satisfied that the other girl was going to recover, she looked back down the street in the direction Snowblind had gone. "Okay, I'm starting to get really tired of the ice queen. Catch up when you can." With that she was off after the villainess with a WOOSH of air. Rounding the corner after Snowblind, the speedster once again hopped up onto the ice slide, managing to retain her balance as she sped up to the villainess once again. Once again there was a faint *CRACK* as she managed to land another hit on Snowblind. But just as before, the villainess took the hit with little sign that it had any effect. Okay, this is starting to get ridiculous. Velocity thought to herself.

Giang stopped just short of the edge of the pool as Elias introduced himself. "I am honoured Elias." She stated as she put her palms together in front of her and gave a slight bow. "I am Giang." Standing back upright, she stepped off the surface of the pool and onto the cold tile around it. Looking over the other teen and the various injuries he had for a moment, Giang focused back on his eyes. "Were you one of the students injured when the shelter collapsed following the escape of the Grue that had been hiding in the shelter?" There had been several that had minor injuries, but a few with somewhat more serious ones, though Giang did not recall seeing Elias there that day, but it was possible she just never saw him.

GM Snowblind gaze seemed as cold as the miniature snow storm that she had previously been producing. Bringing up both of her hands, she swept them out to either side as she sent a wave of cold and ice out in every direction around her. Though she was the closest, Velocity reacted instantly, managing to dodge out of the way of the ice and cold. Warp tried to get out of the way of the onslaught, however she was not fully able to avoid the freezing wave. Biting cold seemed to slam into her, knocking her off her feet and off of the ice ramp. Her skin tingled from the cold as landed on the roof a parked car that had been frosted over by the wave of ice. Her body seemed numb from cold and there were faint stars in front of her eyes as she stayed conscious, but worked to shake off the effect of the attack. Seemingly satisfied that she had managed to slow down at least one of the heroines, Snowblind continued down the street on her ice slide, going a couple of blocks before taking a left hand turn.

That sadly is a miss. Go ahead with an IC post and we'll move on to Round Three.

Mr. Chen nodded as Harry briefly mentioned some of the potential problems with either of his suggestions. "Yes, there are difficulties to be sure. Merely indicating some other possibilities." Finishing his tea, he took out a business card, setting it down over in front of Harry. "You can reach me at that number if you uncover any further information which may assist me in my inquiries. I will contact you promptly should I come across anything immediately important, otherwise it may be a few days before we talk again." With that, he rose up from the table and made his way over towards the front, stopping briefly to pay for the tea. After Mr. Chen departed, the two private investigators made their way out as well. Deciding to consider the two suggestions a bit more, Harry instead called some he knew from when he had been on the force. Lance Ricks had begun working for the FCPD as a photograph and film analyst during the last couple of years Harry had been on the force. Lance was fresh out of college, and very bright. But Harry's sensitive nose had been able to pick up something else, that Lance had a drug problem. Not wanting to see the young man throw away his career, let alone his life, Harry helped him get treatment before anyone else on the force had learned of the problem. So, naturally Lance owed Harry, big time. Given his work, Lance often worked from home, so he told Harry to come on over to his apartment in Grenville.

Snowblind is using an area effect attack. Need a DC 21 Reflex save from Warp. If she misses, she needs to make a DC 21 toughness save. Velocity gets a: 24 so she avoids all damage.
-
On to Round Three: Velocity: 51(unharmed, 2 HP) Snowblind: 16 (unharmed) Warp: 7 (unharmed, 1 HP) Velocity gets a 34 for her Reflex check to run along the ice ramp (of course now she gets a 20) Her attack roll is a: 22, just enough to hit. Snowblind needs a DC 28 toughness save, she gets a: 28, of course, she just makes it.

Velocity immediately turned and followed in the direction that the villainess had gone, expecting to find Warp there as well, as the teen had not teleported back after her attack as she had other times. Turning around the corner at a couple hundred miles an hour, the speedster spotted the two up on the snow using criminal's ice ramp. Jumping up onto a low point in the ramp, Velocity quickly found her traction on the slick surface and started racing along the ramp towards the pair. In a moment she closed on them, skidding to a stop and swinging her left hand at the villainess. Once again her fist broke the sound barrier with a *CRACK*, but this time, it connected with the villainess jaw. But, to Velocity's surprise, the Villainess took the hit without any sign that the punch had actually hurt her, as she quickly turned back to regard the two heroines with icy blue eyes.

ZOOMED IN, BY SUPERCAPE Velocity Velocity updates: Mainly this will be spending the 14 pp she has earned, but I also will be doing a bit of shifting of some things to better fit her concept. 1) Spending 3 pp to move some of the Super Movement out of the array and into a stand alone power. Super Movement 3 Wall Running 2 [Flaw: Only while moving]; Water Running [Flaw: only while moving]) [3 pp] 2) Spending 1 pp on a new power: Super Strength 1 (Flaw: Limited only to carrying capacity up to heavy load; Hvy load: 200 lbs) [1 pp] The idea behind this power is that it allows her to pick up something (or someone) up to the Max load for her 10 Str, but still be able to move pretty quickly. 3) Spending 2 pp to increase Quickness and Speed (1 pp each), bringing both up to 10. 4) Adding +1 BAB to bring her up to PL 14 cap. 5) Increasing Con by 2. 6) Adding a rank of Dodge Focus. 7) Adding Benefit (Freedom League Member) 8) The remaining 2 pp will be used as part of a reworking of her Super Speed Array. As part of this, I am dropping the 3 ranks of Attack Specialization, and, along with 1 unspent pp, adding those points into the array as well. The last unspent pp will be add a new Alt power to the array. Also bumping up Strike and Sonic Boom to meet her new PL cap (there are excess points in the array that allow that). Also changing the feats in the Strike power, as she never really uses Takedown 2 (and doesn't quite need it with the new selective area attack), so I am adding Stunning Attack, giving her another option when using the Strike power. The new array looks like this (changes or additions are underlined): Super Speed Array 15 (30PP Array; Feats: Alternate Power 5) [35PP] BP: Strike 14 (Feats: Accurate 4 (+8 hit), Improved Critical 2 [18-20], Takedown Attack, Stunning Attack) {22/30} AP: Sonic Boom (Blast) 14 (Extra: 65-ft. Area Burst; Flaw: Range/Touch) {28/30} AP: Maximum Velocity: Quickness 3 (13 total: x25,000) and Speed 3 (13 total: 100,000 MPH) and Super Movement 5 (Permeate 3 [Flaw: only while moving]; Sure-Footed 2) {13/30} AP: Insubstantial 4 (Affected by Vibration effects) {20/30} AP: Rapid Fire: Blast 8 (Extra: Autofire; Feats: Accurate 4 (+8 hit)) {28/30} AP: Rapid Attack: Damage 8 (Extra: 200-ft. Targeted Area Burst; Selective; Feat: Accurate 4 (+8 hit); Progression 2 (x5 Area)) {30/30} Velocity (PL 14) – Thevshi http://www.freedomplaybypost.com/uploads/gallery/album_7/gallery_517_7_14369.png Player Name: Thevshi Character Name: Velocity Power Level: 14 (204/210PP) Trade-Offs: -2 Toughness/+2 Defense Unspent Power Points: Progress To Gold Status: 60/90 Old character sheet is here. In Brief: Archetypical speedster. Alternate Identity: Megan Howell Identity: Secret Birthplace: Freedom City Occupation: College Student Affiliations: Freedom League Reservist Family: Donald Howell (father); Erin Howell (mother); Samantha Howell (sister); Jason Howell (brother) Age: 21 (July, 1991) Gender: Female Height: 5' 5" Weight: 105 lbs Eyes: Blue Hair: Blonde (in costume wears a brown wig) Megan has always been an attractive girl, one of those lucky ones who seemed to completely skip the awkward teenage stage. Now she has matured into a very stunning young woman, with a lean and tone body that still has plenty of curves. While she has long had a taste for the more expensive end of fashion, since attending Yale, she began wearing more moderately priced clothes around campus and has continued to do so in more general casual situations since returning to Freedom City. As Velocity, her costume is a yellow, form-fitting bodysuit with thin black and white checkered strips running down the arms and legs. She also wears yellow gloves and boots, and a small utility belt in which she carries a few things, such as steel ball bearings which she throws at supersonic speeds. In addition, she covers most of her head in a yellow mask, leaving only the lower part of her face exposed. To further conceal her identity, a brunette wig extends out of the back of the mask. Hi-tech, mirrored goggles cover her eyes and part of the upper half of her face. Power Descriptions: Megan has the ability to move at many times the speed of sound, her speed allowing her to run across water, up the sides of buildings, and even vibrate fast enough to pass through walls. Her speed goes beyond just movement, with Megan able to perform tasks that might take a normal person an hour in a few seconds. History: Megan is the youngest child of Donald and Erin Howell, both parents coming from old money families (Donald's is from Boston while Erin's is from Freedom City). Her father is currently the chair of the corporate law practice group of Hartford, Grayson & Cole, Freedom City's largest law firm. Her mother is a well known philanthropist, involved in a number of charitable foundations around the city. Megan grew up in North Bay, where her parents have a very large home. Her childhood years were filled with numerous gymnastics and dance classes, which lead her to cheerleading when she attended the exclusive private high school, North Bay Academy. Early in her Sophomore year, Megan was on a field trip to Astro Labs when a supervillain tried to steal some invention or another. During the chaos of the battle with a superhero that arrived to stop the theft, Megan was exposed to some chemicals which granted her superspeed. It was not long before Megan was using her new found powers to help people and fight crime under the identity of Velocity. While her activities were initially restricted to North Freedom and parts of downtown, in her Senior year of high school Velocity found herself involved in more and more encounters with supervillains. At the same time she began teaming up with more of the other superheroes in Freedom City, even having chances to work with some of the members of the Freedom League. After stumbling across a plot by the Tyranny Syndicate to replace various key and influential people in Freedom City with their duplicates from the Syndicate's dimension, Velocity teamed up with Raven to put a halt to the Syndicate’s plan, and in the process took down Johnny Speed, the Syndicate's version of Johnny Rocket. Velocity was extended an invitation to join the Freedom League and accepted the invitation, even as she finished high school and began attending college at Yale University. While easily able to quickly travel from New Haven to Freedom City when needed, the stress that being called away to missions, often in other parts of the world, placed on any attempt to have even a semblance of a "normal" college experience began to wear on Megan. She had herself placed on reserve status with the League, and briefly associated with a group of Freedom City based heroes, the Interceptors, but that proved short lived, as she soon choose to try to focus more on college. However, Megan soon found she could not so easily set aside her identity as Velocity. Attempting to live life at a more normal pace (save for studying) soon had Megan feeling as if she was going to go insane from boredom. Once again she began making outings as Velocity, generally basing her activities around New York City to keep any attention off New Haven. As most of these outings were random good deeds and non-superpowered crime stopping, it was easier to develop the balance in her life that had existed at the start of her career. Last year Megan had the opportunity to spend a year abroad, studying at the University of Cambridge. While in England, Megan reconnected with a young member of the British nobility with whom she had had a brief fling in Ibiza during her pre-college European vacation with a pair of high school friends. By Megan's standards, their renewed relationship was a long one, but it came to its inevitable end when Megan was unable to explain a several day absence when Velocity had been called up by the Freedom League to help with a mission. After finishing her year at Cambridge, Megan has returned to the United States, and is now in her last year at Yale. She managed to arrange that the bulk of her credits for her last semester at Yale would be covered by a internship with Summit Transnational Group’s corporate headquarters in Freedom City. She has a couple of seminars, which she mainly attends via teleconference, and really only has need to be up in New Haven once or twice a week. Personality & Motivation: Megan has always been something of an overachiever, exactly what one would expect given her highly successful parents, not to mention two accomplished older siblings. While certainly one to have fun when she can, Megan has a strong work ethic along with a desire to help others. Outgoing and confident, she has little trouble in most social settings. As Velocity Megan has a chance to cut loose and be more carefree and impulsive. Begin a superhero gave her the opportunity to stop bad guys, crack jokes while doing so, and help people along the way. While time and experience has tempered this with a bit more seriousness, she still presents an overly energetic and free spirited persona. Powers & Tactics: Speed is Megan's primary tactic, allowing her to almost always react before anyone else, make an attack, and be gone and out of sight before most would even realize she has even moved. Her powers provide her an array of offensive abilities, from being able to throw punches at supersonic speeds to being able to generate a localized sonic boom that can be rather destructive. While speed and agility are Megan's primary defense, she is much tougher than she looks, a side effect of her body having adapted to being able to move at such high speeds. Complications: Secret Idenity: Megan has long sought to keep her identity as Velocity secret to protect those she cares about. It Can Be a Lonely Road: The list of relationship wrecked by Megan’s vague excuses about her mysterious disappearances from dates, parties and the like is far too long. Where do I go from here?: As Megan nears the completion of her undergraduate degree, a number of choices lie before her: going to work in the financial/business world; MBA or law degree programs; following in her mother’s footsteps in philanthropic work. And then of course there is always the option of dedicating more time to refocusing on her superhero identity. "Hmm, Xian Lou." Mr. Chen replied as he studied the photogrpah once again. Taking out his smart phone, he held it over the picture, manoeuvring the camera to have the photograph fully in frame. There was a faint clicking sound and then he studied the screen on the phone. "I will begin making some inquiries. It may take some time however." He stated as he looked back up at Harry and Freddy. "As for other potential avenues you might wish to pursue, there are a couple which come to mind. First, though it is still some time away is the arrival of the Chinese New Year on the 10th. There will of course be a significant celebration here in Freedom City's Chinatown. It may well be possible that Xian Lou will choose to attend." "Another possibility, and one that could take a good bit more time to investigate, are the number of Buddhist temples and shrines in and near Freedom City. They are small to be sure, nothing as grand as the Cathedrals and churches that predominate, but, still if Xian Lou is a practicing Buddhist, she may have visited one or more of them, or may in the future."
-
Supercape, the attorney that hired Harry and Freddy told them the girl's name was Xian Lou :)
-
Mr. Chen took a sip of his tea as he watched with interaction between Harry and Freddy with a hint of amusement. When Harry finally withdrew some money and set it down on the table between them, his eyes looked down at the stack of bills for a very brief moment before looking back up at the rumpled private eye. "Truly Mr. Hound, currency is one manner of potential exchange, and for many, the only substantial thing they might be able to offer. However, I believe you and your partner have far more valuable skills which you could offer. I could well have need of your assistance in the future. Shall we agree to exchange a favor for a favor?"

Through her exercise, Giang had noticed the presence of another student by the edge of the pool, but she did not let that realization disrupt her focus as she continued. Part way through, she brought her hands close together, and the two watery swords shifted and merged, forming a long, solid water staff. The Asian teen did not pause a moment, as she continued moving, twirling the staff in front of her as the she shifted the flow of her movements to the use of the new weapon. She continued for a few more minutes, covering the surface of the pool a number times before finally coming to a halt back in the center. Holding her last stance for a few moments, she then stood upright, lowering the watery staff down beside her as she turned at last to focus on the teenage boy who was watching from the edge of the pool. "Good morning." She said with a small smile. The hand holding the staff opened, just as she released her control over the water that formed the staff, causing it to splash down into the pool as Giang started walking across the surface towards the side where Elias was kneeling.

Burning the Midnight Financial Reports from the the SEHK
Thevshi replied to TheAbsurdist's topic in Wading Way
Megan nodded as Amir talked briefly about derivatives, something she had heard him speak on before as a guest lecturer. While the blonde young woman recognized that derivatives had their uses, she fully agreed with Amir that the reckless culture in many other financial firms had completely ignored the risks associated with the counter positions they took on massive credit default swaps and the like. That behavior had pretty much blown up in everyone’s faces, though some groups, like Summit, had been able to weather the storm just fine, thanks to having isolated themselves from that mess. When he turned to his real reason he had come down to talk with her, and Megan let a slightly embarrassed look come to her face. "Oh…I am doing well." She began. "It has been helpful to just get back into things and be busy. But I am really sorry for all the worry I caused you and Ms. Van Cleef, and, well, everyone else." -
Burning the Midnight Financial Reports from the the SEHK
Thevshi replied to TheAbsurdist's topic in Wading Way
Megan had just been gathering together her things when she heard Amir's voice at the door to the office she had been using. Turning around, she gave him a warm smile. "Mr. al-Misri, good evening. Of course I don't mind at all." She replied. Setting her things back down on a credenza in the office and took a seat again behind the desk. "I just finished going over the numbers for the deal in Mumbai. The projections look good, even if we were a bit conservative on some of the variables." Even as she spoke, the young blonde had a feeling that Amir was not there to talk to her about the project. -
Sunday, January 20, 2013 7:30 AM A light dusting of snow had fallen over the grounds of Claremont Academy overnight, just enough to provide a thin sheet of white over everything. It would not likely last much past the mid-morning sunlight, but for now it clung to the cold early morning air. The school sat dark and quite, almost seemingly deserted. Following the events of earlier in the week, many students had left the school to return home, in particularly for this long three day weekend. However, there were still a few students on campus, particularly ones that had nowhere else to go. One such student was Giang Trang, also known as Tsunami. The Asian teen was out near the school's outdoor pool that was next to the athletic field. Though it saw little use in the winter, the pool was heated just enough to keep it from freezing. As such, a little bit of mist rouse up from the still water in the cold morning air. Despite the chilling cold, Giang was dressed only in a pair of light grey yoga pants, a black cami top shirt that left her arms and shoulder mostly bare. She was currently barefoot, her simple white tennis shoes and socks set next to the edge of the pool. Giang had already spent some time meditating this morning, helping to calm her emotions and restore her focus. The events of the Day of Wrath had begun to drift away for her, though she knew that for many of her fellow students, the day had been much more intense. Taking a deep breath, the Asian teen stepped off the edge of the pool over the water. Instead of splashing down underneath the surface, she instead walked across it, faint ripples forming under her as she passed over. Stopping in the middle of the pool, she turned towards one of the ends, holding both hands out in front of her. Some of the water in the pool flowed up towards each hand, before stretching out before to form a pair of solid water Jian, one grasped in each hand. Stepping back with her right leg into a back stance, both hands up at the ready, with the watery swords extended in front of her. After holding the stance for a brief moment, the Asian teen then began to move, almost gliding over the surface of the pool. The watery swords in her hands were like an extension of herself, swirling around at times as she turned and flipped through the air, at others stabbing forward in an attack, or coming back to perform a block. She shifted through various stances, seemingly flowing like water as she almost danced across the surface of the pool, faint ripples forming beneath her feet as she went.

Snowblind fires a snare at Warp. She misses with a 16. Warp's action.
-
GM "Are you sure you two just don't want to give up and go home for the night?" The blonde woman called out with a small smile on her face. Tightening her grip on the bag she held in one hand, she took a couple of running steps before she jumped into the air. Almost instant, an ice ramp started forming under her feet, spreading out over the street as she slid along towards the two heroines. As she went, the miniaturized blizzard that had been centered around her suddenly dissipated. Passing a little over the two on the ice ramp. She aimed a hand over at Warp as she passed, a blast of ice shooting out towards the teenager. But Warp was able to easily dodge aside, the ice instead encasing a lamp post behind her. If Snowblind was upset by her failure to hit her intended target, she did not show it, but continued down the street on her ice ramp, rounding a corner a block away and then out of sight.
