Up in the air, Mindfire manages to stay aloft while she tries to shake off the impacts from the speedster’s attack. Meanwhile, Bonebreaker comes leaping back to land the middle of the intersection, a manhole cover in one hand. "There you are." He states, as he stands back fully upright, and turns to throw the manhole cover at Velocity. The steel disk whizzed through the air with tremendous speed, but the speedster was able to dodge the projectile which seemed almost slow in her eyes. The manhole cover continued on before becoming imbedded half a foot into the concrete wall of the building behind her.

After leaping back to the where the fight started, Bonebreaker throws a manhole cover at Velocity, missing with a 22.

Once again Young Britannia's blast of energy struck Raditron, causing him to grunt in pain, but somehow remain on his feet. However, he was still disoriented, trying to focus on what was going on around him. Just then a yellow streak came speeding down the street from the left, as Velocity apparently looped around to double back from another direction. Passing behind where Mindfire was hovering, the speedster's right hand moved in a blur of motion as she sent five steel ball bearings flying up towards the villainess, multiple faint cracks echoing in the air as they broke the sound barrier. All five of the hypervelocity projectiles impacted into Mindfire's back and side, causing her to cry out in pain as she shifted some in the air and appeared to be disoriented and dazed. The speedster skidded to a halt near the sidewalk across the street from where Raditron was barely staying on his feet. "Nah, I wasn't leaving, just trying to draw them off some before doubling back." She called up to Young Britannia.

Velocity attacks Mindfire with Rapid Fire: She gets a 12. I’ll reroll that one, getting a much better with a 30, so Velocity gets the full benefit of autofire. So Mindfire has a DC 27 toughness save. She gets a: 18. Not quite enough to make her staggered, but another bruise and dazed again.
-
Well, he is certainly stubborn. He gets a 17 for his toughness save, which means another bruised and he stays dazed, but still on his feet. Go ahead with an IC post battering him more. Then it is on to: Round Four: Velocity: 63 (2 bruised, 2 HP) Mindfire: 21 (3 bruised) Bonebreaker: 15 (2 bruised) Raditron: 14 (4 bruised, Staggered, Dazed) Young Britannia: 4 (Unharmed, 4 HP)

Tsunami remained in place in the shadows an air vent that extended up from the roof she was currently on, listening to the exchange between the watchman who had spotted her and the ship's captain. Thankfully the lack of anything to confirm the watchman’s story had the captain doubting what the man said. Hearing Blod’s message over the comm., the Asian teen moved back slightly behind the air vent, glancing around a moment before whispering back. "I am next to a port side air vent on the roof of the aft tower. Things appear to be defusing, as the ship’s captain is not believing his watchman's story."

So, bluff roll to try to get them to hesitate a bit is a 17, though against the guy it is probably a 21 due to Attractive.

Megan pretended to stumble slightly on rubble as she made her way out of the hole in the restaurant's wall, letting out a fake cough due to dust and smoke. Glancing up at the large muscular man in front of her with a half frightened look. "I know this seems like a cunning plan and all, but in case you two hadn't heard, there was a pretty rough day here a few weeks ago and the heroes in this town are still somewhat on edge. So, it might be a good idea to cut out now, before some hero happens by and decides you two look like great stress relief punching bags." She stated, before turning down the sidewalk and making a break for it, focusing on staying at what would be a normal running pace for someone, as she tried to get to an entrance to the lobby of the building the restaurant was in, to hopefully find a place to change in order to get back out and help.

GM While Warp very likely would be able to more quickly cover longer distances with a teleport than Velocity, the few seconds she needed to try to focus on her destination here worked against her, as the speedster could simply run and adjust as she went. Given the short distance, Velocity did not need much time to cover the ground, and as such, arrived a couple of seconds before Warp. Arriving on the rooftop of a building a block away, Warp notice a distinct drop in the temperature in the air. Glancing down at the intersection by the bank a block away, where Velocity had stopped closer to down on the street, she saw what looked like a miniature snow storm. Small flakes of snow were swirling around almost half the block around the bank. Standing on the sidewalk next to the bank's ATM machine was a woman dressed in blue. It was hard for Warp to tell from where she was, but somehow it looked like the ATM was open and the woman had been pulling money from inside to put into a bag in one hand. But the woman was now looking at Velocity, and appeared to also glance up towards where Warp was standing as well before focusing back on the closer heroine. Velocity pointed towards the woman. "Okay, I don't know who you are, but this is your warning. I'm Velocity and back there is Warp." The speedster gestured back over her shoulder with a thumb without even looking back. "I highly suggest just giving up now and save yourself a lot of grief." As Velocity called out at the woman in blue, Warp could see her breath hanging in the air in front of her. "I don't want to hurt anyone." The woman shouted back. "But I am not going to jail."

Ricky blanched slightly at Lucy's comment about what might happen if he betrayed them. "No, no, I would never do anything like that!" The weasely man quickly replied, putting up his hands in front of him in protest of the thought that he might try to betray Lucy and the others. He glanced over towards Harry with a slight look of desperation. "Didn't I help you Two out with that arson investigation last month Harry? I pointed you towards what I thought might be the guy's next target. I was right wasn't I? You know I play straight with you."

Okay, back to YB (Don't forget, you've collected a few Hero Points )

GM Taking the hit, though clearly hurt, Mindfire finished climbing to her feet as the yellow clad speedster disappeared around the corner. Ghostly flames flared around her as she screamed out, "I AM GOING TO MAKE YOU WISH YOU WERE NEVER BORN!" The ghostly flames took the form of wings, as the redhead flew up into the air about thirty feet, turning slightly in the direction that Velocity had been heading after turning the corner. "WHERE ARE YOU!" She screeched as she scanned the area down the road. Standing on the torn up part of the street, Bonebreaker grinned as he saw Raditron struggling to stay on his feet. Glancing up at Young Britannia, the muscle bound villain stated, "Do what you want with him babe. But if you know what's good for you, you’ll just leave the rest well enough alone. We got no gripe with you." With that he turned and leapt into the air, arching up over a building and down towards the street that Velocity had turned down, disappearing from Young Britannia's line of sight at the end of the jump.

Despite the pain from the hits she had taken from Raditron's attack, Velocity was still very much in the fight. She grinned slightly as she saw the other heroine deliver a solid hit on the glowing villain that certainly took a lot of the wind out of his sails, so to speak. But, she knew there the fight was far from over. Glancing up at the towering Bonebreaker, she gave him a grin. "You really want to do this dance again? Don't forget, it only took me two hits last time to flatten you. But we’ll get back to that in a moment. First things first." With that, she was speeding away, running over towards where Mindfire was pushing herself back upright. "I normally am not one for hitting someone while their down, but given the number of AEGIS agents you've put in the hospital just for kicks, I think I make an exception for you." The speedster stated as she zipped by the redheaded villainess. Another *CRACK* echoed down the street and the supersonic punch connected solidly, however, while Mindfire was clearly hurt by the attack, she kept her focus on trying to get back to her feet. But the speedster continued on past, turning a corner as she sped off down another street.

Okay, Velocity is going to go after Mindfire again, as she is still on the ground, that is a +4 on melee attacks against her. Velocity will Power Attack -3 atk/+3 dam and Defensive Attack -3 atk/+3 def (so thanks to the bonus, she is +11 atk, +16 dam with her strike and +18 defense) She makes another move-by attack on Mindfire: 24, so another hit. DC 31 toughness save for Mindfire, and she gets a 27, wow, she is staying in the fight, but picks up another bruise.
-
That will just hit (with a slight situational bonus as all the villains are pretty much not focusing on YB at the moment). He gets a 12 on his toughness roll. So he is Staggered and dazed. No knockback, so he stays up on his feet. So, Round Three: Velocity: 63 (2 bruised, 2 HP) Mindfire: 21 (2 bruised) Bonebreaker: 15 (2 bruised) Raditron: 14 (3 bruised, Staggered, Dazed) Young Britannia: 4 (Unharmed, 4 HP)

GM Whether it was just arrogance or just because he was more focused on the apparent rivalry with Bonebreaker and some vendetta against Velocity, Raditron was not paying close attention to Young Britannia. That proved to be a major mistake as the burst of energy slammed into the glowing villain from the side, staggering him up against the side of the battered van. He managed to say on his feet, though he was leaning heavily on the van to do so, but certainly seemed to be in bad shape as he shook his head, trying to regain his bearings.

The OOC for this thread, because we need it now.

"You are very welcome Warp." The Velocity replied with broad smile as Warp thanked her. "I am glad to offer what help I can." The speedster chuckled slightly as teen came to something resembling attention and gave a salute, indicating she was ready to come along to investigate the alert the older heroine had received. "Well, based on the information I got, it should be about half a mile that way." She stated, turning to the Northeast and pointing off in the direction of the Liberty Dome, the large stadium where several of the city’s sports teams play. "It is at a bank two blocks south of the Liberty Dome on 44th." She looked back over to Warp with a grin. "So, see you there in a second?"

Giang listened as Kat talked some about the events she was present for on the Day of Wrath, noting the seriousness that came over the other teen. "Thank you." She replied when Kat complimented the job done by her and her companions at the school. "But in many ways, I believe we had something of an easier situation that you and the others faced at that rally. An ancient Chinese general once wrote 'whoever is first in the field and awaits the coming of the enemy, will be fresh for the fight; whoever is second in the field and has to hasten to battle will arrive exhausted. Therefore the clever combatant imposes his will on the enemy, but does not allow the enemy’s will to be imposed on him." "Not exactly descriptive of what happened that day, but perhaps appropriate enough. That robot duplicate choose the battlefield and imposed its will on the situation before any of you could have realized what was going on. So in that sense, you and the others were the ones who 'arrived' second. But despite the tactical advantage the duplicate held, you and the others managed to reverse the situation, imposing your own will over the terms of the engagement."

vignette January (and February) Vignette: Day of Wrath
Thevshi replied to Avenger Assembled's topic in Freedom City Stories
Find Your Center January 15th, 2013 (Day of Wrath) It was late evening by the time Tsunami made her way back into her dorm room at Claremont Academy. The day had been a long and weary one, not only for her fellow students and herself, but for the entire city. Already some of the other students had departed the school, wanting to go back home or otherwise get away from the events of the day, her roommate being one of those. But the Asian teen had nowhere else to go, not that she would necessarily have felt the need to leave even if that were not the case. Tsunami's side of the room was very Spartan compared to her roommates, in large part because the Asian teen had, or needed, little in the way of possessions. Though she was quite tired, Tsunami felt that she needed to mediate some before doing so, to help the chaotic array of emotions that had built up over the course of the day. Moving to the center of the room, the Asian teen sat down with her legs crossed on the floor, her back perfectly straight. Placing her hands on her knees, Tsunami closed her eyes and began to take several deep breaths to help calm herself, just as she had been taught by her various instructors over the years. Instruction that had been at the direction of her biological father, she reminded herself, the thought not helping as she tried to relax. Taking several more deep breaths, the Asian teen focused her thoughts, imagining herself in the waters of a vast ocean. Around her were surging, chaotic waves, the result of all the emotions and feelings that had resulted from or be set loose by the events of the day. There was the knowledge that her entire life had been a lie, her upbringing designed to prepare her for a roll set out for her before she was even born by her biological father. The conflict between what she had been thought regarding honoring ones family and elders, and what she believed to be the right and moral decision to turn away from her family. Memories of the weeks following her flight from her father and his plans, surviving on the streets in Hong Kong and then Singapore without any true plan of what to do. Fear that was associated with memories of some of her father's men having finally found her, before the timely intervention of Raven. The uncertainty that followed as she left Singapore with Raven, even as the heroine seemed conflicted about whether to trust the Asian teen. Anxiety and uncertainty that she had felt when she had been brought to Claremont and first introduce to whom she thought was Headmaster Summers. Somewhat confusing emotions about John Smith. The tension associated with the meeting earlier today in the Headmaster’s office, when she had been told Mali and other members of Young Freedom might have been corrupted by the Terminus. Anger that had followed as she and the others had begun to realize that they had been mislead and the danger that the school was still under. Even just plain weariness, not only physical, but mental as well with having to keep everything in check while still being able to perform what was required of her. The combination of all of that would seem more than enough to overwhelm the Asian teen and pull her under the thrashing waves. But this was her environment, one where she could control the flow of current and eddies. Focusing on the waters around her, Tsunami began to break up the swells and shift the various undercurrents. The task was not easy, but the teen was patient, and determined. A feeling of calm and control began to form, flowing through her just as she controlled the flow of the waves around her. Soon, the turbulence lessened, becoming rolling waves and then gentle tides before finally stopping all together. She was now floating in the center of a still stretch of water, almost as smooth as a sheet of glass. All the chaotic thoughts and emotions were still there, but were now like a far distant shore. Tsunami allowed herself to remain there for a short while, taking comfort in the control she had established. Then, almost reluctantly, she let out one last deep breath, and opened her eyes. The teenager felt a feeling of peace and tranquility, though she knew it was only temporary, and she would need more time to fully deal with the variety of emotions that were still there. But for now she was relaxed and firmly in control once more, if only for the rest of the night. Satisfied for the moment, the Asian teen stood up from the floor and when to finish preparing to go to sleep. -
As the pair of teens continued on their way through more of the exhibits in the aquarium, Giang continued taking notes in both English and Chinese. The amount of variety and adaptations that existed among the aquatic animals they saw was rather astounding. As they looked at many of the various creatures, the Asian teen could not help but wonder what it would be like to go and see some of them in their actual environments, something that would be rather simple for her to do. When Kat brought up the question of what Giang had been doing during the Day of Wrath, the Asian teen was quite a brief moment before she answered in a low voice. "Well, initially Morgan, Darren and I were nearly manipulated into attacking Mali and the other members of Young Freedom by the robotic duplicate of the Headmaster." "Thankfully events transpired in such a way that when the bomb that the robot had planted in the Headmaster's office went off, we were not all right in the radius of the blast. The only one that really was in any danger when it exploded was Darren, and thankfully his diamond form provided sufficient protection. After Young Freedom departed, we realized there could be more bombs, and Morgan was able to detect the one down in the main shelter under the school. I mainly helped subdue the Grue that had attempted to hide among the other students, Morgan was the one that deactivated the bomb." She looked over at the other teen. "You were at that political rally that day were you not?â€"

"Well, it's not like we didn't hit on some pretty weighting issues." Velocity replied, her smile still firmly in place. "But remember, you can always give me a call if you want to talk more, about anything we talked about tonight, or anything else you just are not sure who to turn to about. I can't promise I'll always have answers, but I can certainly listen, and maybe help find someone who does have the answers." Just then there was a fait beeping sound coming from one of the pouches on the speedster's belt. In a movement Warp was not able to follow, Velocity had drawn her Freedom League communicator out. "Hmm." She said, looking at the screen. "It seems like I don't have the time I thought I did, there's something not far from here I need to go check out." She paused for a fraction of a second, then looked back over at the teen. "Interested in giving me a hand?"
-
See Doc, you're actually going to make me have to come up with solid ideas for them now :D

Tsunami listened as the Grue, after coaxing by Crow, told what it knew about the individual or entity behind the robots that were apparently all over the city. She had never heard of this "Curator," but what the Grue described was very similar to what had taken place on campus. Then Edge stepped forward to take the Grue away to a holding facility. The Asian teen was quite as Adamas let some of his frustration show, after all it had been him the Grue had been impersonating. When Archer arrived to commend them on their efforts in keeping the school safe, Tsunami gave a little nod and a brief, tight smile. "We did what we could Mr. Archer." She replied before she also looked over at the students and teachers that had been injured when the roof of the shelter had collapsed. While she was not sure specifically what she could do with helping the injured, she nodded as Archer indicated helping with them, before starting towards the groups gathered up on the grounds.

Megan was quite for a moment when Jen shot down her idea of trying to distract them, not sure how she should try to handle that. But the villains outside were apparently getting inpatient as one fired a blast of some kind of energy into the restaurant. When Jen suddenly stated she was going to go out and confront them, all sorts of warning bells went off in Megan's head. While that would give her a chance to get clear change into Velocity, it could well mean Jen would end up a hostage, which would only make things harder. "No Jen. I can't let you do that." Megan said in a low, steely voice. “And no, I don’t have super-strength, but I've got a lot of super-speed, and I've been at this hero thing a lot longer than you have! I'll go distract them for a moment or two, then make a convincing break for it. That should give you time to slip into the back, change in to Silver Spider and then get out there to confront them. I should not be far behind once I can get clear to change as well." With that, the blonde young woman began to stand up to climb out of the booth and make her way towards the wrecked front of the restaurant to try and bluff the two villains just enough to give Jen a chance to get clear.
