"Yes, I would imagine that was rather confusing." Giang replied as Kat elaborated a bit more on her first, inadvertent use of her powers. She then smiled slightly when Kat indicated she would not press any further into the Asian teens past. "Thank you." Giang replied with a little nod. She then turned to look at the tank of rays a moment before looking back to Kat. "Not that I do not wish to talk more, but we should likely try to do so while continuing to work on our project some. There is still a lot we need to cover."

GM As fast as he was now, Siphon was still not quite used to running or maneuvering this fast. Trying to drop back, he miscalculated, and the Zoom enhanced gang member he was trying to intercept managed to pass him by, while another drew closer behind. The one that passed him by had a sub-machine gun in hand, but he was hesitant to fire at the yellow clad speedster ahead of him as she was in close proximity with both the gang leader and another of the Zoom enhanced members. So instead, the gang member turned back slightly, aiming the weapon at Siphon behind him before firing a quick burst. However, his aim was far off, and the bullets ripped across the pavement well off to Siphon's right. Behind him, the other Zoom enhanced gang member also took aim at the hero with his sub-machinegun. But he fared even worse than his compatriot, the bullets from his burst ricocheting off the ground far to Siphon's left.

Well, I figured the two would pull a Mr. Rooney from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and go case malls and the like looking for her. But seriously SC, looking at the Gather Info rules on finding people (I had kinda forgotten they were there), it kind of makes it too easy (taking no more than 4 hours really with Taking 10). The interesting parts of this story will really be the journey and what they learn along the way (and how they choose to react to what they learn). So in a way, I sort of see it as a number of Gather Info “rolls†that are spaced out over several days. So, there are a couple of early avenues I had in mind (one of which I think I might have mentioned in chat (or a PM)). Which order you want to do things is up to you. First, you can go down to the docks like Harry mentioned in your last IC post. Second, I had an idea for an NPC that Harry knew when he during his last couple of years on the force. A fairly young tech guy who is a photo and film analyst for the police (examining photos for when they might be altered, filtering grainy film to try to identify a perp, that sort of stuff). The backstory I had in mind was that, thanks to his senses, Harry realized the guy had a drug problem. So Harry helped get him cleaned up before anyone else on the force learned, thus saving the guy’s job. So, he owes Harry big time. Then of course there is always getting out on the street to talk with contacts and see what they might know. (Some phone calls could lead them to various new contacts depending on what Harry might want to look for). Also, regarding your last IC, I checked with AA, and Claremont is not publicly known as a school for metahuman teens. It is something of an “open secret†within the superhero community, so, I guess the question is would Harry know much about it at this point? (not saying he wouldn’t).

Well, instead of being stuck between two of the Zoom enhanced guys, you could drop back slightly further to the next one (ZDF 3) instead. ZDF 2 turns and shoots at Siphon, missing badly with a 7. ZDF 3 also takes a shot at Siphon, missing evey wore with a 5. Go ahead and make an attack roll on ZDF 3. Edit: Also, while your at it, might as well make a new chase roll to keep us going.

Before he left, Mr. Ling singed the necessary paperwork to retain the pair. Then he added. "In addition to your normal fees and expenses, there is an authorized expense account of up to five thousand dollars to cover any expenses you incur as part of the investigation. Should there be expenses necessary that exceed that amount, we will require some explanation and documentation for them before they can be approved." "Good day gentleman." With that, the lawyer made his way out of the office and over to a waiting LEXUS with tinted windows, another dark suited Asian opening the back door for Mr. Ling, and then climbing into the front passenger seat himself before the vehicle pulled away.

From where she crouched at the top of the water column she had formed, Tsunami heard the man calling out about spotting the column, though from what she could hear, he did not seem to have spotted her yet. Well, that could have gone better. She thought as she reached the level of the top of the aft section of the boat, forming a small bridge of water over to the top that she quickly moved across. Once on solid surface, she let go of the water in the column, causing it all too just fall back down into the river below. She then moved to some shadows to wait and see how the ship’s captain might react to the man’s story now. As she crouched down, she whispered into her comm. unit to Cerys. "A watchman spotted my water column as I got on board, but I don't think he saw me. They may be on alert as you try to get aboard, but hopefully things will settle down."

Ricky seemed to squirm uncomfortably for a moment, as if he was struggling to try to move something very heavy. "Well… I normally wouldn', but seeing as your such a looker, I can help a little." With that, the weasely informant reached into his pocket of his jacket and took out a small roll of twenty dollar bills. "It's only a hundred, but it's all I got extra on me. I think that should be enough to get you in the door, though they might want to see a couple hundred more to be sure you have the funds to place some bets. It's not exactly a scene for the high rollers."

Yeah, she gets the bonus. That is enough to get him to help a bit, but not be overly generous. :)

So we are back to Young Britannia :)

GM The satisfied grin that was on Bonebreaker's face from decking Raditron and avoiding the flash of light faded when Velocity delivered a powerful blow to Mindfire, sending the redhead sailing backward until she hit a wall. What sounded like a growl escaped the large man’s lips as he leapt into the air, easily covering the thirty feet between him and the speedster. "Alright, now we see how well you can take a hit!" He yelled as he came down, one of his large fists swinging at the heroine. But the agile Velocity managed to easily dodge the attack, and Bonebreaker ended up smashing a hole in the pavement, a few chunks flying in every direction. Over by the van he was knocked back into, Raditron climbed back to his feet. "Alright, you want to play that way Davis, we can keep at it, but why not try two-for-one." With that, the glowing villain brought both hands up in front of him as he unleashed a hail of quick bursts of radiation in a wide cone in front of him, centered on Velocity and Bonebreaker. The radiation blasts ripped up the pavement and blasted small holes in a couple of parked cars. Both Velocity and Bonebreaker tried to avoid the stream of energy, both succeeding to some degree or another, but not completely. The few bursts that hit Bonebreaker did not even seem to faze him, as he remained focused for the moment on the yellow clad speedster. Velocity managed to twist and turn, avoiding many of the bursts, but a few still caught her on the side, causing her to stagger slightly from the impacts as she grunted in pain, but she otherwise remained on her feet and focused.
-
Bonebreaker will go after Velocity now: not even close with a 15. Raditron gets up and unleashes a cone area attack that can possibly hit both Bonebreaker and Velocity. Velocity’s reflex save: Wow, she just misses with a 19, but thanks to Evasion 2, it is only half effect. Bonebraker gets a 21, so he makes his reflex save, and his Impervious stops the halved damage. Velocity’s toughness save vs DC 20, a 16, so she has another bruise.

Young Britannia's blinding flash of light filled the area around the three supervillains, but all appeared able to avoid the effects of the light, shielding their eyes or turning away at the last minute. Down on the ground, the yellow clad speedster was spared the effects of the blinding light, and managed to shake off the effect of the burning pain Mindfire had sent through her mind. "That was a good thought." She commented up to the other heroine in regard to the flash of light. It certainly could have helped with Mindfire if it had worked. In a blur, the speedster was back over by Mindfire. "Yeah, maybe you can dish it out, but can you take it?" She asked as another *CRACK* sounded from her fist breaking the sound barrier. This time Velocity put just a little more of her speed into the force of the blow, sacrificing some accuracy. The blow connected solidly under Mindfire’s chin with a *WHACK* that rattled the window of a nearby car. The redheaded villainess was lifted up off her feet as she went flying back some thirty feet, smashing into a concrete wall. Chunks of concrete fell to the ground with the supervillainess, who seemed dazed by the attack. Velocity stopped in place this time, turning slightly to regard the other villains a moment while the technology in her goggles keep Mindfire within sight as well.

Dazzle saves: Bonebreaker: 17 Raditron: 23 Mindfire: 24 Darn, they all made it. So, Round Two: Velocity: 63 (bruised, 3 2 HP) Mindfire: 21 (2 bruised and dazed (see below)) Bonebreaker: 15 (2 bruised) Raditron: 14 (3 bruised and dazed) Young Britannia: 4 (Unharmed, 4 HP) Velocity will use the hero point she just picked up and shake off her daze so she can act. This time the speedster will use Power Attack for -2 atk, +2 dam, and Defensive Attack -1 atk, +1 def (making Defense +16). She goes after Mindfire again, 28, again a critical with a natural 18! This time, it’s a DC 35 toughness save. Mindfire does okay with a 26, which means she picks up another bruise and is dazed. Velocity gets 9 for knockback, which is 500 feet! (she will probably hit a wall before going that far though), we'll say the wall has toughness 7, so Mindfire's impervious forcefield soaks all that for her, and the wall is damaged, but holds.

Mr. Ling seemed perfectly happy to let the subject of Harry's request for a piece of clothing drop as he focused on the other comments from the private eye. "Well, as I indicated before, she is rather headstrong and a somewhat adventurous girl, in addition to having a fascination with the various metahumans that seem so prevalent here in Freedom City. As for her ability, it is my understanding that she can control water." "But we fully understand that this could be a difficult matter, which is why we came to you two gentlemen. And you will be properly compensated in light of the difficult nature of the task. It could well turn out she is not here at all, but you will still receive all the compensation owed you for helping to determine that fact." "Unless either of you have any further questions, I should probably be leaving so the two of you may begin."

GM The chase continues along the streets of West End, with the zoom using and motorcycle riding gang members trying desperately to somehow shake the two heroes, but too little avail. One of the gang members who had been closest behind the heroes tried desperately to avoid the motorcycle that had ended up in the street, but he was going too fast to do so. His motorcycle slammed into the downed one, sending him flying off. He tried to roll with the impact with the pavement, but still bounced and rolled more than a dozen feet to lie still. The other gang members had already started to swerve or run to the side to avoid the obstacle, so they were not impeded by the newly downed motorcycle. Up towards the front, one of the Zoom using gang members had been pulling ahead of the gang leader, when he saw the yellow clad speedster zip in to strike him. Doubling back, the gang member came up alongside the speedster, taking a swing at her with his sub-machinegun, but failing to come anywhere near the fleet young woman. The gang leader focused past the pain from the supersonic punch delivered by Velocity as he swerved his motorcycle back near her. His right hand crackled with dark energy as he tried to punch the heroine, but he fared little better than his fellow gang member. With a gang member on either side of her and two other Zoom using ones closing quickly behind, Velocity shouted over to Siphon. "On second thought, I've got these two, you take the runner coming up behind us!"
-
Okay, limited GM post here, as I need to know where Siphon is going to end up before I can do too much, but I know what two of the bad guys who go before him will be doing for certain: Zoom DF 4 doubles back to help the gang leader, swinging his SMG at Velocity: 14, not even close. The gang leader tries to hit Velocity with a fist crackling with dark energy: 19, close, but still not enough. I also have to make a drive roll for DF 1 to avoid the motorcycle in the road (he is closest, so has least time to react, others have more time so are fine): he gets a 1, so he crashes into the downed bike. He just makes a reflex save to have the damage from the crash, but still just misses his toughness save, so he is out. (So Siphon gets a double take down with his pior punch )

Tsunami gets a 16

Velocity glanced over in slight surprise as Siphon came speeding into view, knocking the gang member she had been running neck and neck with off his bike and out of the fight. "Hey there." She said with a small smile. "I'll take the guy on the motorcycle shooting dark energy, you can take the one running along with the sub-machinegun. Then we can loop back and deal with the ones in the back." With that, she sped up, quickly closing the distance between her and the gang leader, even as he tried to somehow pull away or outmaneuver her. Coming up alongside, her left hand shot out with blinding speed, another *CRACK* sounding as her fist broke the sound barrier. The gang leader had brought up his right hand, trying to create some sort of dark energy shield between them, but he was far too slow in doing so, and the speedster’s punch connected with a solid *WHACK*. The gang leader swerved slightly on his bike, but somehow managed to stay up on and conscious, maneuvering back over so he was right next to the speedster. Hmm, maybe he will be a bit tougher. The yellow clad heroine thought as she saw the gang leader remain in the fight.

Round Two: Velocity: 60 (Fatigued, 3 HP) Zoom Dark Fist 3: 37 Zoom Dark Fist 2: 36 Zoom Dark Fist 4: 27 Dark Fist 5: 23 Ye Quan: 18 (bruised) Dark Fist 3: 18 Siphon: 9 (3 HP) Dark Fist 4: 7 Velocity will move up to the gang leader, Def attack -3 Atk/+3 def (giving her +10 atk, and +17 Def): and ouch, she crits him with a 30. That is a DC 33 toughness save Ye Quan gets a 28 on his toughness save, so he is bruised and dazed! (not really sure how one can be dazed in a high speed chase, so I will have him shake it off, giving Velocity a hero point)
-
Okay, new chase rolls: Velocity actually blows her Acrobatics roll with a 23. Zoom Dark Fist: 15, 13, 15. Dark Fist: 10, 0 (or a 1), 3, 1. Ye Quan: 7. Wow, so even with the terrible roll, Velocity can be wherever she wants. Need a roll for Siphon to see how he fares. Tentatively, it will look like this: Gang Leader/ Velocity/ ZDF 4 (2 lengths) ZDF 2 (2 lengths) ZDF 3 (9 lengths) DF 4 (8 lengths) DF 5 (1 length) DF 3

GM Siphon’s punch sends the gang member tumbling from his motorcycle, to bounce a couple of times across the pavement before coming to rest near the back of a parked car. The motorcycle itself quickly flips on its side, skidding along the pavement for a good dozen feet before coming to rest in the middle of the road. A bit further back, another of the gang members on a motorcycle tries to level his pistol at Siphon’s back while controlling his motorcycle with the other. A gunshot rings out and Siphon hears the faint crack of a bullet as it passes far too close for comfort.
-
So, the only Dark Fist (#4) below Siphon in initiastive takes a shot at him from where he is back in the pack, just barely missing with a 19 (thanks to the penalty for being beyond 1 range increment).

Warp's small chuckle at the bit about possibly repeating being a teenager made Velocity's smile a bit wider. Then the older heroine gave Warp a small look as the teen indicated she would "try" to just relax some over the weekend. "Hmm…" She murmured as she twisted her mouth to one side for a moment. "Not exactly a confident promise, but I guess I will have to take it." Her tone was light, and she gave Warp a comforting squeeze with the arm that was around the teen's shoulders. Then the speedster let out a little laugh of her own as the teen made a joke about possibly running into someone with a shrink ray while trying to relax. "Well, how being a hero can completely interfere with attempts to be normal for awhile, causing you to miss things, slip way from dates or the like, is a whole other conversation. But suffice to say, Taylor Swift and I could sit down for a pity party for our failed relationships and I would totally have her beat." With her last comment, Velocity made a wide, sweeping gesture with her free hand. The speedster then released Warp, stepping a little ways away as she turned back to face the teen. "So, for the moment we're feeling at least a little bit better about things, and we're going to try to find time for ourselves this weekend. So what else would you like to talk about? I've got plenty of time." She gave Warp a warm smile.
-
Giang gave a small smile as Kat mentioned not having the "skillset" to survive in another country. "Well, I did have something of an advantage for get by in Singapore." The Asian teen stated. "I at least spoke half of the city's official languages, one of which is English. In addition, I was able to get some assistance from some of the monks at the Buddhist temples in the city. But I was probably close to the end of my ability to get by when Raven found me." "But to just wake up somewhere completely strange, that must have been very frightening."
-
"Well.." Ricky began as he glanced nervously at Freddy as the thick brawler made his way back over to the bar. "The address I can give you, no problem. But as far as how you can try to enter a fighter...I just don’t know anything about that." He looked back and forth between Freddy and Lucy. "It was just nothing that I thought I would need to know about, you know? I mean, I'm certainly no fighter, and I am not in the business of managing them or anything. So, I heard stuff about where this ring was set up, but never bothered to try to learn more." "But as far as getting in, well, I understand it doesn't really take much more than being able to show some green, you know what I'm sayin'?"
