  1. Ms? At least he didn't call me ma'am. Velocity thought to herself as she watched the four teenage superheroes from Claremont prepare to head off to tackle the first of the transmitters in the southern part of the city. A small part of her envied their camaraderie. She had been younger than they were when she had started out as Velocity, and had been all on her own for the first couple of years. Well, you did turn down that invitation to attend Claremont, so large part it was your own damn fault. She thought to herself. "Good luck to you all as well." The speedster then said aloud. "Once your finished with those two transmitters, give me a call and we can see what else needs to be done, that is if there isn't any word on trying help the kidnapped heroes. And remember, if you need any help, don't hesitate to call." She put an emphasis on the "if" that suggested she did not think they would need help. "Talk with you soon." And with that she was off in a blur of yellow and a *WOOSH* of air. The teenage heroes heard a *CRACK* echo from down the street, followed by a deep *BOOM* as Velocity broke the sound barrier.
  2. Tsunami returned the thanks of the jungle lord and his wife with a small nod, before she started off towards the exit from the city. While saddened by the destruction that had been inflicted on the once beautiful city, the Asian teen kept pressing onward, watchful for any threats that she would need to clear from the groups path. While most of her focus was on the path ahead, she regularly checked over her shoulder to be sure she was not getting too far ahead of Myrmidon and the group he was shepherding out of the chaos. Thankfully their path turned out to be clear of any dinosaurs or other threats, and soon the Asian teen had reached the gate out into the jungle beyond.
  3. Megan gave a small nod as Angus mentioned being good at the business side of running her studio. "I am sure having a good feel for current trends and the like goes a long way. It's certainly not something that can be just taught in business school. In pretty much any industry, there is always some intangible that simply cannot be readily quantified. For some industries, those intangibles are more important than in others." As Angus struck her outrageous pose to model the greatcoat, Megan grinned. "Hmm, he could be right." She replied about the comment of the coat making Angus look like a Sci-Fi heroine. "Some of my friends at Cambridge made sure to take my by Camden Market during one of our trips into London. Quite an interesting place." The blonde young woman gave Gail a small smile as she and Angus made their way out of the studio and into the cool February air. She gave Angus an understanding look as the taller woman mentioned the need to sometimes get Gail back on track. "So, speaking of business, what's the word on the band recording right now?" Megan the asked with a grin.
  4. Velocity had a small smile as the teens prepared themselves to leave in order to get back into the fight. "Don't be too quick to dismiss the robots as unimportant." Velocity spoke up when Kit mentioned not fighting them any more than necessary to destroy the transmitters. "Certainly the transmitters are your primary objective, but you will need to see what happens once they are down. It may be that the war bots just shut down, which will be a lucky break. But, it may also be possible that once their primary directive of defending the transmitters is no longer possible, they could revert to a secondary directive, such as going on a rampage. Leaving a bunch of eight foot tall, heavily armed robots that can shrug off anything the police can throw at them short of an anti-tank round rampaging in the streets won't help bring things back under control."

  6. Tsunami had her hands in front of her, prepared to attack the creature again should it turn to attack them. But when Edge provided new instructions on trying to subdue it unless it attacked them first, the Asian teen nodded as she stood up from her lower stance, lowering one hand as she left one up and aimed in the general direction of the unusual creature. With a simple thought, she caused a thin sheet of water to cover the ground around the creature, extending out forty feet in all directions. "That should hopefully keep it from tying to move anywhere else." She stated.
  7. Tsunami will change her array to Friction Control, covering a 40' radius area cenered on the creature with a thin sheen of water that will require it to make a DC 18 Reflex save or be tripped.
  8. Megan followed Angus into her office so she could grab her coat. Once inside, the blonde young woman looked up at the Gold record mounted up on the wall for a moment before looking back to Angus and smiling as Angus joked about the unglamorous side of the recording business. "You forget, I spend my days buried up to my eyes in paperwork and spreadsheets." The blonde young woman replied. "Sadly it seems to make much of our world go round, and keep people like my father in business." After Angus had put on her greatcoat and asked if she was ready to go, Megan gave a nod. "Absolutely." She replied as she followed after the taller woman as they made their way out of her office. "Love the coat by the way." She then added.
  9. Velocity shook her head slightly at Warp's question. "She showed up in the Fens where some other heroes and I were trying to deal with the robot duplicate of Bee Keeper. Set fire to a tenement building, killing a bunch of bystanders, shurgged off a solid hit from me and then teleported away again once the Bee Keeper robot managed to all but knock out the other two heroes I was working with. I have not heard any reports so far of where she might have gone." When Kit stepped up and glared at the speedster, the older heroine met the gaze unblinking as she listened to the girl's demand. "Look," she stated in an even voice, "I understand that this has likely hit very close to home for you all, but do you think your unique in that? Star Knight and Bowman were my teammates for more than a year, and I have stayed in touch the last few years after going to reserve status and joined them on a few missions when they needed me. I consider the Atoms to be friends, and you can sure as hell bet that Tess and Chase want to know where Maximus and Victoria are. It is a good bet that the same can be said for the other teams that have had one of their members replaced." "Right now this is all pretty fluid and there is still a lot of confusion out there. For all I know, a rescue effort could be being launched as we speak through some dimensional portal or the like. Or it could be days before we figure out enough to know where to go, let alone how to get there, to help those who were kidnapped. I already said I would keep you all informed on what I learn regarding any attempt at a rescue. I cannot promise anything, but if given the chance I will be sure to add what support I can to any of you being given a slot in any rescue mission." As El Heraldo and Blodeuwedd took charge and began discussing tactics on how to deal with the defenders when they reached the first location, the speedster provided them with the addresses for the buildings which had been pinpointed as the sources of the transmissions in Bayview and Southside. Then she just stood silently by as they continued their planning. They knew their abilities and those of their teammates far better than she could hope to, so unless they had a specific question for her, she felt there was likely not too much she could offer in terms of helping them plan.
  10. Alright, by the end of the first chase round, things should look like this (save where Siphon may end up) Gang Leader/ZDF 4 (2 lengths) DF 2/ Velocity/ Siphon (4 lengths) DF 1 (2 lengths) DF 4 (2 lengths) ZDF 2/ ZDF 3 (4 lengths) DF 5 (1 length) DF 3 So Az, need a chase roll for Siphon (which will be 1d20+4) to see where in the pack he can end up, then he can get his attack roll on one of them.
  11. GM The various gang members were all swerving and trying to squeeze out every ounce of speed as possible from their motorcycles (or in a few cases their drug enhanced speed), to various levels of success. Soon, the gang was stretched out over two blocks, with the gang leader and one of the Zoom enhanced members out in the lead. But as fast as any of them were, Velocity had little trouble keeping up with them, weaving in and out as she moved towards the front of the pack. As she went, some of the gang members took shots at her as she passed. One of the Zoom using gang members fired his SMG at the yellow clad speedster, the bullets riddling the side of a parked car, blowing out a window, as they came nowhere near close to hitting the intended target. Another took a swing at Velocity with a crowbar as she passed, coming close to hitting until she ducked underneath the attack at the last moment and then continued on past the motorcycle riding gang member. A pistol shot and another SMG burst echoed in the night air, the bullets from both ripping across the pavement as they also missed the agile speedster. The gang leader turned back slightly as Velocity closed up next to one of the other gang members on a motorcycle behind him. Taking his right hand off the handlebars of the motorcycle for a moment, he reached back to aim at the speedster, a bolt of black energy shooting from his hand, blasting out a chunk of pavement as she nimbly dodged the attack.
  12. Zoom Dark Fist 3 takes a shot at V with his SMG: a 9, not even close. Dark Fist 1 takes a swing at V while she passes by him with a crowbar: 23, still not quite enough. Dark Fist 2 takes a shot at V when she pulls up near him with a pistol: 10, another miss. Zoom Dark Fist 4 turns back and fires his SMG at V: 19, a miss. Ye Quan turns back and fires a blast of dark energy at V: 17, and yet another miss.
  13. For some reason, after tackling Siphon, Velocity felt somewhat sluggish and not quite herself. Maybe it was that sudden burst of speed to get him out of the way. She though as she pushed herself up off the ground and Siphon's prone form. Ow, or maybe it was bouncing around on the sidewalk. She thought. Glancing down at Siphon, she gave a small grin. "I certainly hope you are not bulletproof, cause I would hate to think I did that when I didn’t need to." Her grin faded though, as she saw the bound forms of the criminals that Siphon had previously captured lying on the sidewalk bleeding. "Oh no. I didn't see them." In an instant, she was back on her feet, her head turning to look down the street in the direction the gang members had gone. Her communicator was in her hand as she put out a call on the Freedom League's emergency channel. "This is Velocity, I have a gang related shooting down in the West End, corner of Allen and 90th. Four injured, I am in pursuit of the gang, who are on motorcycles with a few apparently using Zoom." Then she was off in a blur, running back into the middle of the street and then off after the fleeing gang members. The motorcycles and Zoom enhanced gang members were just starting to spread out as they fled the scene, but the speedster was easily able to close with them. Passing close to one of the Zoom enhanced gang members that had fired at Siphon and the unconscious criminals, Velocity's right hand shot out with a *CRACK* as it broke the sound barrier. *WHACK* The blow connected with sufficient force to send the gang member sailing off the street where he slammed into the side of a building before dropping to the sidewalk unconscious.
  14. Okay, time to make some chase rolls. Velocity, Siphon and the Zoom enhanced gang members use Acrobatics (or base Dex in Siphon’s case), the other gang members use drive. On the plus side, because Velocity and Siphon are so much faster, all the gang members take a -8 on their rolls. The gang members will start with a 4 length lead over the heroes. Velocity gets a: wow, 40 (she is probably going to stay right in the thick of things for this chase) Zoom Gang members: 4, 6, 6, 16 Gang members: 10, 14, 1, 8, 2 Ye Quan: 16 So, Velocity can be pretty much anywhere she wants in the first round of the chase. As she passes one of the gang members with the SMGs, she will attack. (Using Defensive Attack for -3 att/+3 def and Power Attack for -2 att/+2 dam: Attack: +7, Def +15 and Strike damage: +15): her attack roll is a: 18, good enough to hit. Zoom Dark Fist 1 makes a toughness save vs DC 30, gets a 6, ouch, he is WAAAAY out.
  15. Tsunami was kneeling down further back from the edge of the roof top behind Blodeuwedd. The Asian teen was not nearly as stealthy as Cerys or Mali, so she wanted to lessen the chances that she might be spotted by someone down below. The cold of the night air did not bother the teen, nor did the slight drizzle that was falling. Tsunami had been slightly unsure about accompanying Cerys and Mali tonight, but had eventually decided to join the other two teenage girls in checking out a rumor that something was happening down by the city’s docks. Tonight she was wearing a Claremont uniform, with the addition of a mask that the other two had strongly recommend she include. The teen was relaxed and calm, as she waited for some indication from Cerys that she had seen something, or that they would be moving on to check out another location.
  16. Giang smiled at Mali's Bruce Lee quote as the water dragon finished circling and the water dove back down into the water bottle, not a drop falling out onto the floor. "A very apt quote." She replied. "To be certain my martial arts training, as well as meditation techniques I had learned, proved very useful in having the focus, discipline and control needed to truly learn to use my abilities. As the quote indicates, water can be soft, or it can be hard." She then gave the other girl a questioning look. "Why would the boys make it difficult to swim?"
  17. Megan grinned as Angus mentioned how she had gotten Amir to not talk about work during dates, recalling his antics during the Midnight Society party when he had talked about the number of romantic comedies he owed Angus to repay her for going to the party with him. "Luckily I was able to mostly avoid the shoot-out, just a few frightening moments when a stray energy blast from some high-tech weapons one of the groups was using came a bit too close. But my nerves were shot for a bit after that." When the other young woman mentioned having to wait a bit to see the true recording studio and made a couple of suggestions on how to pass the time, Megan wasted little time in replying, "The nearby coffee shop sounds wonderful. I have not had a chance to come down into Riverside since I got back in town, but I do enjoy getting to spend time down here. I have had a small ownership interest in a few nearby art galleries for years, so I have often had chances to come down here for showings and First Thursday events, just haven't taken advantage of that recently."
  18. Tsunami's hands were still out in front of her as she prepared to continue the attack against the T-Rex, but she stopped herself as she heard Myrmidon's new orders. "The tyrannosaur is not quite finished." She commented simply over the communicator before she turned and ran in the direction Myrmidon had indicated for their withdrawal, ready to do her best to clear the path for their retreat. Exiting hall, she found Lord Zandar and Lady Korzeel engaged in a mass melee with more than a dozen smaller, clearly predatory, dinosaurs. Pulling her hands back towards her chest a moment, her fingers splayed open, the Asian teen's eyes focused intently on the dinosaurs before her. Taking a slight step forward, she thrust her hands straight ahead of her before sweeping them out to her sides. As her hands moved, short, rapid bursts of water shot forth in a wide cone ahead of the teen. The blasts were unerringly accurate, missing the jungle lord and his wife, as well as any of the other jungle tribesman, while striking all the raptors in the area. Bursts of water even arched around the defenders at times, in order to strike raptors that were behind them. In a few moments, all of the raptors were down.
  19. Okay, Tsunami is power stunting: Blast 8 (Extras: Targeted Area (cone); Selective; Flaws: 0 Range; Feats: Accurate 2) So that is a 80 foot long cone. She gets a 24 on her attack roll, obviously she is not targeting any friendlies in the cone. Those hit need to make a DC 23 toughness save.
  20. Velocity gave a solemn nod at Warp's question about there being more of these robots. She then looked back at El Heraldo as he mentioned where the robot that had done all this was, and apologized for not bringing it down. "That's okay, it should keep up there for now. I think the brainy types are not want for the remains of some of these things to examine. And I know there is at least one, maybe two, that have been taken intact as well." Seeing the other girl, Kit start towards the van Warp and El Heraldo had indicated the fourth member of their group was in. Waiting until Kit and Blodeuwedd came over to join them, the speedster then looked around at the gathered teen heroes. "Okay, here is what I know so far. At pretty much the same time this morning, heroes, and a couple of villains, seemed to go nuts all across the city. As you all have figured out, those suddenly murderous heroes and villains are robot duplicates. There seems to have been at least one robot duplicate for each team in town, the Freedom League, the Atoms, the Interceptors and others. There were also some duplicates of solo heroes as well. Most of those have been dealt with so far, but there are still a few out there, including a teenage girl calling herself Quickstep." "Right now, we don't know what happened to those who have been replaced or what can be done to help them. I am sure the brainy types are working on that right now, and once I hear of any plan I will let you all know." "While we wait for the smart guys and gals to come up with something, the city is still in chaos and we need all the help we can get to try to deal with everything. If you don't feel up to this, the best place to go right now would be Freedom Hall. But if you're up for it, I have a job you can help with." Velocity paused a moment, looking around at the four before continuing. "The brainy types have identified unusual radio signals that are being sent out from transmitters positioned all over the city to the rampaging robots. There is one not far from here and another over in Southside. We need you to go to those locations and destroy the transmitters. Apparently the transmitters are being guarded by Foundry Myrmidon robots, the big eight foot tall war model ones, so you will need to be ready for a fight." The older heroine paused again as she looked at the teenage heroes. "Look, I was about your age, or only slightly older, when I happened to blunder into something Raven was investigating. I ended up having to face off with the Tyranny Syndicate copy of Johnny Rocket on my own, with no likelihood of backup. You all have each other, so I am sure you can handle this." Man, do I feel old. Velocity thought to herself as she gave her little pep talk. She took out a small card which she held out to Blodeuwedd. "This is the frequency for the Freedom League's emergency channel. I will be monitoring it while I go to deal with some more of these transmitters downtown and in Kingston. If you have any problem, give me a call, and I should be able to be wherever you are in a few moments."
  21. Hmm, not a great Kn: Streetwise for Tusnami, only gets a 13
  22. Giang had pushed her chair back from the table as the massive T-Rex had smashed through one wall. She then hopped gracefully to her feet as a thin sheen of water covered her body, seeming to shimmer as it flowed and swirled. As Myrmidon issued orders to her and the others, the Asian teen nodded in confirmation of what she was to do. Stepping forward slightly, she brought both hand up in front of her, aimed towards the massive tyrannosaur that Cerys had badly slashed with her sword. Seemingly from nowhere, a blast of water shot fourth from her hands, twisting and coiling as it streaked across the dining hall to slam into the side of the massive dinosaur.
  23. Tsunami attempts to blast the T-Rex: 17 If that hits, it is a DC 25 toughness save (the attack is +12 for purposes of knockback)
  24. Megan watched intently as Angus finished her rendition of Purple Haze. "No worries, it was great to hear you play." The blonde replied when Angus' apologized for losing track of time. "Besides, I look forward to hearing a new song of yours playing at a club." "I was never really one for musical instruments myself, my older sister took piano for years. Instead I focused on dance and gymnastics." She returned the taller woman's hug, smiling as Angus complimented her on her appearance. "Thanks, left work a bit early. But, given the hours I sometimes have to keep, it isn't any big deal." She then waved a hand dismissively at Angus’ apology for their not meeting up last month. "No need to apologize, you're a busy woman. And I was getting started on my internship with Summit, and started dating this new guy. Not to mention everything with the Day of Wrath. I don't know if Amir told you, but I nearly got caught in the crossfire of a gang shoot out down in the Fens that morning when the whole city started going nuts."
  25. While she had been helping Jubatus and Silver Spider get things under control in the Fens, Velocity had heard of the incident involving a US Congressman over in Bayview. Figuring someone from League should probably go check on things, she had called in that she was on her way and set off. That had been less than thirty seconds ago. She was now drawing close to the scene, her goggles zooming in from a few hundred feet away. She recognized a number of teenage heroes on scene, at least one of whom she knew as associated with Claremont Academy. They appeared to be trying to help, and did not appear to be yelling about dealing out had justice and the like, so she figured it was a safe bet that they were not more of the robot duplicates. In a blur of yellow, the speedster came skidding to a halt a short distance from where El Heraldo, Kit and Warp were standing. Her long brown hair swished to the side from the sudden stop, and she took another quickly look around, far quicker than the normal human eye could follow. Man, there are a lot of bodies here. I don't think I ever had to deal with anything like this when I was as young as them. Form the perspective of the three teens, as soon as the figure skidded to a halt, she gave a faint smile. "Hey, I'm Velocity from the Freedom League. I got word about the incident here. I would have been here quicker, but I was dealing with a similar situation in the Fens." "Your El Heraldo right?" She asked focusing on the Puerto Rican teen. She then glanced at the two teenage girls. "And you two are Warp and Kit? Are you students at Claremont as well?" "Is this all of you?" She then asked.
