This brings us to Round 6 Hound : 21 (wins tie due to higher Dex) Mess: 20 (3 bruised) (2 HP) (dazed) Mobster 2: 19 (near Mess) Mobster 1: 4 (in melee with Mess) Hound’s action.

Mobster 2 hits Biker 2 with a 13. Biker 2 fails his toughness save and goes down. Mobster 1 steps up and hits Mess on the back of the neck with the butt of his pistol with a 20. That is a DC 16 toughness save for Mess.

While the large mobster tried to struggle free, Mess was able to easily keep him contained. Shifting his weight, he applied pressure to the man, who choked slightly, before eventually going limp as he slipped into unconsciousness. But Mess' victory was short lived. One of the other mobsters smashed his pistol across the face of the last biker still standing, knocking the man to the ground and unconscious. The second mobster stepped up and slammed the butt of his pistol onto the back of Mess' neck, just as the private eye was starting to stand back up. Out in the alley, Ricky visibly wilted as Hound picked him up from the ground by the lapels. "L…I...look Harry," he sputtered, "I didn' want any trouble, not for you and certainly not for me. Those guys seemed like they were after your friend." "O..of course I'll give you the name," he added as Hound made his threats. "I just had to get out of there, couldn' let those guys see me talking freely with you." Ricky took a deep breath before he continued. "One of the local lieutenants in the Oliverti family has started up an extortion racket again, targeting small business, people not likely to want to talk to the police. They don't pay, they burn. The freelancer that torches the places is some guy that goes by 'Firebug."

Mobster 3 only gets a 12 on his toughness roll. So he will go into unconsciousness. Go ahead with an IC post putting him down :)

Biker 2 continues to be ineffective, missing his attack on Mobster 1 with a 9 Mess' action.

Looking back around the bar, Hound spotted Ricky just as the informant had stood back upright and was making his way out the back exit of the bar. Running off after him, Hound managed to bound up the steps from the lowered section of the bar, and shove the door back open as it started to close. The door swung forcefully open as it slammed into Ricky, who had not yet decided which way to run. That sent the con artist sprawling into some garbage cans across the alleyway, knocking them over as he fell to the ground. Back in the bar, the last standing biker again tried to attack one of the mobsters that were attacking him, but once again, the pool cue missed its intended target.

Megan Howell was feeling rather happy as she sped through some of the neighborhoods of West End as Velocity. So far tonight she had patrolled neighborhoods in the southern parts of Midtown and Parkside, during which she had stopped two muggings, an attempted burglary and convinced two teens that they really did not need the trouble that would result from breaking into a car. And of course she was getting a chance to speed around town, operating at near her full potential and not feel as if she was having to constantly move at some incredibly slow pace. But beyond the immediate, Megan had another reason to be happy. Though it had only been a few weeks since she had met Kyle, they had been seeing a good bit of each other. Just this last Saturday night they had gone out for some pizza and then to see Silver Lining Playbook. After the movie, they had gone back to Kyle's apartment to talk and spend a bit more time together. That inevitably had led to making out for awhile before they both realized it was probably best not to rush things too quickly. Because it had been rather late, Kyle had insisted Megan stay over, taking the couch while letting her sleep in his bed. That had proven almost an even greater temptation, as the sheets and pillows seemed to smell like Kyle (and not in a bad way!) That had left the young blonde struggling with a part of herself that had wanted to go back out to the living room and just say to hell with taking things slow. In the end she had gone to sleep, and yesterday morning they had gone out to breakfast together at one of Kyle's favorite places near his apartment. Suddenly the young blonde (brunette in costume thanks to a wig) was pulled from her thoughts as she thought she caught sight of something out of the corner of her eye, or more accurately, just behind her thanks to the all around vision provided by the high-tech goggles she wore in costume. Skidding to a halt, the speedster glanced back behind her, frowning a second. Did I just see a bunch of motorcycles with a couple of guys running alongside them go by? She asked herself before rolling her eyes. Please don't let this be another bunch of guys hyped up on Zoom out trying to get into street races with everyone they come across. Letting out a small sigh, she started off back the way she thought she had seen the motorcycles and people running beside them go. Guess I had better check this out.

Monday, January 28th, 2013 10:10 PM So far the night had been gone pretty well for Kyle Conners, or as he was also known, Siphon. He had been patrolling in the West End, looking for criminal activity to stop (preferably of the supercriminal variety). During his patrol, he had happened upon a group of shady looking men who were breaking into a herbal medicine shop just on the outskirts of Freedom City's Chinatown. Siphon had gotten the drop on the group's lookout and getaway driver, managing drain him into unconsciousness before he could warn the rest of the group. It had then been a matter of following the group into the building, where he had managed to surprise another one and put him down, before having to fight the final two. Luckily those last two were so thrown off by the hero’s appearance that they really put up little in the way of a fight. From the looks of things, they had been in the process of tearing the place apart and stealing some of the more valuable herbal medicines. He now had all four gathered together on the sidewalk outside the shop, where he was binding them up so he could call the police and have them waiting for pickup.

Tiff, Velocity and Fleur are talking over Freedom League communicators (as both are Freedom League reservists). Also Tiff, Spicy, Electra and I were on chat last night when she set out this plan. With her bluff roll, it is impossible for Bee Keeper to beat it.

Giang had been running alongside Crow as they made their way towards the gym. At the sudden appearance of the brightly dressed figure in front of them, the Asian teen reacted as she had been trained. With a graceful, almost flowing motion, the teen changed her momentum to one side, executing a perfect side ariel as she did. Finishing the flip, Giang landed lightly on her feet, assuming a high back stance, her left foot in font. Both hands were open palm, her left extended in front of her, her right across her chest. The teen still had the thin mantle of water swirling around her in an almost mesmerizing pattern. Hearing Crow give one of the code words he had previously set, the Asian teen focused on the figure before her, prepared to launch a blast of water if he proved to be a threat.

Okay, Thug 3 blows his fort save with a 10. Normally that would mean he is exhausted, but combined with the fatigue he already has makes him unconscious. (one slight thing I will mention, he never fired his gun, just had it out. There are other people along the edge of the room firing into the air) Thug 1 tries to zap Siphon with the taser wand, but fails with a 5. Thug 2 tries to grab Siphon, but fares only slightly better with an 11. Round Two: Siphon 16 Thug 1: 7 (unhurt, carrying taser wand) Thug 2: 6 (BIG guy) Back to Siphon
-
"What the?" Replied the companions of the man Siphon had just disarmed and fatigued. But before any of them could do anything, the hero pressed his advantage, reaching out once again to grab the same "wizard" yet again. Once again he felt his power drain some of the man's life force. This time it was enough to drop the man to the ground, unconscious. The man holding the "wand," which he had just used to shock a security guard, took a slight step back, then he lunged forward, jabbing the "wand" at Siphon. The attack was clumsy, and for someone who had spent years dodging linebackers while trying to run with a ball, it was simple to step aside. The tip of the "wand" crackled with electricity, a clear sign to the hero that he wanted to avoid it if at all possible. The large guy then stepped forward, his arms opening wide as he scowled. "You some kinda superhero?" He asked, not really seeming interested in the answer, as he tried to grab Siphon in a massive bear hug. Once again, it was like avoiding defensive linemen, and a slow one at that, and Siphon was able to jump back out of the man's reach, as he closed his arms around now empty air.

When Bee Keeper had touched down in the park where Fleur had asked Velocity to lead him, the yellow clad speedster had begun circling, keeping between four hundred and five hundred feet away. Hearing Fleur's transmission, she replied, "Got it, I'm close enough that I can be there in a millisecond if he doesn't go for it." The speedster continued circling, slowing down to just under supersonic speed to avoid any unintended sonic booms. All the while, the technology in her goggles allowed her to keep a close eye on what was happening as Fleur reveled herself and tried to convince the Bee Keeper she was on his side. For a brief moment Velocity was about to zip in towards the hero turned rogue, as he seemed to tense up, but then he relaxed and struck an overly dramatic pose, apparently convinced by what the green haired woman had to say. So Velocity just continued to circle, waiting to be sure he did not change his mind and attack.

Mobster 2 moves to attack Biker 2 and misses with a 6. Mobster 3 tries to escape, grapple check is a 20, so he does not escape. Mobster 1 tries to attack Biker 2 and is lucky he doesn’t hurt himself with a 3. This brings us to Round 6 Hound : 21 (wins tie due to higher Dex) Biker 2: 21 (in melee with Mobsters 1 and 2) Mess: 20 (2 bruised) (2 HP) (grappled with Mobster 3, has pinned and bound him) Mobster 2: 19 (in melee with Biker 2) Mobster 3: 19 (2 bruised) (in melee with Mess and Hound, grappled, pinned by Mess, bound and helpless) Mobster 1: 4 (in melee with Biker 2, dropped pistol) Hound’s action.
-
Wrapping his arms around the large mobster, Mess then shifted his weight and sent the large man smashing down onto the broken pool table, keeping him pinned and helpless as he maintained his hold. Up by the door, the mobster who had shot at Hound tried to track the rumpled private eye's movements, but held his fire as Hound moved into melee with the large mobster. Not willing to take the short, the mobster moved down towards the melee, stopping near the base of the steps where the last remaining biker was blocking his path. The mobster aimed a kick at the biker, but was well of target with the attack. The larger mobster tried to struggle mightily against Mess’ iron grip, but his efforts proved futile, and he remained pinned. The mobster who had just been attacked by the last biker again lashed out with his pistol, hoping to send the remaining biker into unconsciousness like his companion lying on the ground. But the mobster fumbled with the attack, dropping his pistol as he tried to pistol whip the last biker. Luckily the weapon did not discharge as it fell to the ground.

Okay, thugs roll their initiatives, and do pretty bad. Surprise round is over, on Round One: Siphon 16 Thug 1: 7 (unhurt, carrying taser wand) Thug 3: 7 (fatigued) Thug 2: 6 (BIG guy) Siphon's action.
-
Okay, thug with the gun gets a 13 on his Fort save, so he is Fatigued. Making a reflex save for the sudden fatigue, and with a 4, he drops his pistol. And sadly, that thug has no superpowers :(
-
Mobster 3 ties the intimidate roll with a 24. Hmm, I will give the tie to the PC here, what effect did you want? Also, that is a hit, and Mobster 3 only gets a 32 on his grapple check, so Mess wins the grapple. What does he want to do?

Running back down to where his partner was still deep in the brawl, Hound moved up to the large mobster and tried push him over to provide his partner with a better chance of taking him down. However, the rumpled PI found the massive man to be far sturdier than he first appeared. "Was that supposed to tickle?" He asked Hound with a brief glance. "This sure won't tickle!" Yelled the last remaining biker as he swung his pool cue at the large mobster now. But his aim was off, and the cue missed its target, while inadvertently whistling far too close to Hound's head.
-
Biker 2 tries to attack the large mobster now, but misses with an 8. Mess' action.
-
While the big mobster managed to avoid Mess' feints and jabs, the private eye found himself with a brief reprieve. Instead of renewing his attack on Mess, the large man instead glanced over at the biker who had just hit him. "Back off small fry!" He bellowed, as he delivered a powerful backhand to the side of the biker’s head. The blow connected solidly, and was powerful enough to spin the biker around and send him flying backward where he crashed onto a table in a booth, breaking beer bottles and otherwise causing a large mess. The biker groaned slightly before slumping into unconsciousness. The large mobster then focused his attention back to Mess. Seeing one of his friends taken down by Hound, the mobster by the door raises his pistol as he takes a step to the side to try to get a clearer shot. The gunshot echoes through the chaos in the bar, but the mobster’s aim was well off, as the bullet strikes a neon sign on the back wall, shattering it. Not far from Mess and the large mobster, one of the other bikers continues to swing his pool cue at another mobster. Once again, the attack wildly missed the intended target. The mobster takes a step closer, and pistol whips the biker across the face with his handgun, knocking the biker to the ground and into unconsciousness.

Mobster 3 attacks Biker 3, hitting with a 25. Biker 3 rolls vs DC 23 toughness save: 14, so he is out. Mobster 2 takes a shot at Hound: 7, that is a big miss. Biker 1 continues to attack Mobster 1, and continues to miss with a 5. Mobster 1 counter attacks and hits with a 20. Biker 1 totally blows his toughness save with a 5 and is unconscious. This brings us to Round 5 Hound : 21 (wins tie due to higher Dex) Biker 2: 21 (in melee with Mess) Mess: 20 (2 bruised) (2 HP) Mobster 2: 19 (at front door) Mobster 3: 19 (2 bruised) (in melee with Mess and Biker 3) Mobster 1: 4 (at bottom of steps near Mess and others) Hound's action.
-
Supercape, I also forgot to mention, Hound has not used his move action, so he can do so if he would like to :)
-
Scanning the area around him, Hound does not see any of the other nearby combatants. He does notice the mobster near the front door, who has a pistol in his hand, but is currently not aiming it at anyone. The man was keeping an eye on the bar, and happens to look over as one of his companions falls to the floor unconscious at Hound's feet. Hound also spots Ricky, who is still crawling across the floor and is almost to the bar's back exit. Back down in the main melee, the biker with the pool cue swings once again at Mess, this time missing by a wide mark.
-
Mobster 2's notice check: he gets a 17, and he spots Hound knocking out Mobster 4. Biker 2 attacks Mess once again, this time missing by a mile with a 9. Mess is up.
