GM While Jack was still disoriented from the flashbang, two more of the Avant Guard rushed towards the large teen, trying to attack him while he was vulnerable. However, this time Harlequin’s spell served to protect Jack from his attackers. Meanwhile, the Goblin Prince had to continue avoiding the two Avant Guard that had focused on him, once again nibbly dancing out of the way of the two attacks. The two guards glanced at each other as the once again missed their target, a look of doubt seeming to come across their features.

@Jack Okay, Jack's turn, he gets a DC 15 Fort save to recover from being blinded at the start of his turn.
-
@Kaede Kimura Okay, will go with two Avant Guard, who will move up to try to attack the blinded Arctus: 15 and 17 for their attack rolls. The two on Harlequin keep after him, and both miss Go ahead with your deflect rolls.

@EternalPhoenix The large hologram misses the sense motive check (wouldn't have mattered anyway with that reroll). But it tanks the toughness save with a 26
-
@EternalPhoenix You are assuming you can take him down with one hit (he is not a minion). But no, no other targets near enough.

Lynn will zip on over and power stunt Air Control (Move Object) 12 off her superspeed array, which gives her a STR 60 for a heavy load of 50 tons (which can handle a locomotive, so should handle a monorail car) and use it to catch the falling monorail car.
-
Slipstream Overall, Lynn had been rather sullen during the trip to deliver some books and school newspapers to the downtown public library. She liked libraries well enough, but while she enjoyed reading (she was certainly fast enough at it), it was not one of her favored pastimes. Part of the annoyance was that this really should not have taken her so long, but given the concerns about these unusual attacks, the school had required this trip to be done in a group, choosing to assign it to the newly formed intermural team the blonde teen was part of. Lynn knew the concern was real, as she had seen how troubled her…this timelines version of her mother was about the situation. If the Freedom League was concerned, it was not something to dismiss. So, she had accompanied her teammates on this trip, even if it seemed to take far too long. And then, just as they were preparing to return to campus, the monorail went terribly out of control. Lynn had ridden the monorail many times in her timeline, and knew it had numerous safety features…or at least the one in her timeline did. But still, something must have gone terribly wrong for it to get so out of control. The blonde teen had frozen in shock for just a moment, a blink of an eye to most, but then she realized they needed to act or people might die. "I'll catch the falling car. Someone get people clear of the debris and stop the rest of the train." She said quickly before disappearing in a blur of movement. A moment later she was running down the street at nearly the speed of sound, dressed in the red and black costume she wore as Slipsteam. She could see people inside the falling car thanks to the enhanced optics of her goggles, so she sped over to the street below it. Speeding up to faster than the speed of sound, the teenager began running in a circle, faster and faster until she created a mini-tornado which reached up into the air to catch the falling train car and hopefully slow its fall….

OOC for this thread @Dracostern @RocketLord @Jack @FlyingFresh Go ahead and post with how you plan to try to get into the bank to deal with the bank robbers.

Midtown Freedom City, New Jersey Tuesday October 8, 2024. 4:45 PM The members of Red Team had been on a field trip to Freedom City University to attend a lecture on campus. After the lecture, they had returned to the school van for the trip back to Claremont Academy. Apparently, something had caused a major traffic jam on State Route 6, so the driver had tried to take them through downtown over to State Route 4. While the plan had initially worked reasonably well (even with the normal early rush-hour traffic), they were in the heart of Midtown when traffic became totally gridlocked and they had come to a complete halt. It had not taken the students long to learn the cause. The police had blocked off the street a few blocks away in response to a bank robbery that was underway. Apparently there was something else taking place in the city that had the attention of most of the police and some of the city's heroes, so there were not enough resources to respond to the bank robbery right away. After a brief call back to campus, the Headmistress had given the students permission to intervene and assist the police. So they had exited the bus and made their way to where the police blockade was set up. While the officers had initially been a bit skeptical about a bunch of teenage superheroes intervening, they had quickly realized there were not a lot of other options at the moment. The officers provided the Claremont students with what little information they had. Apparently there were about 10 or so armed men in ski masks who were being lead by Wildcard from the Crime League. They had taken several hostages in the Freedom City Trust building, an old, two story stone structure that dated back to at least World War II. It was a strong, sturdy building, with a large lobby area on the main floor and an open atrium to a balcony on the second floor around which were various office and conference rooms.

Multi-Girl As Bernadette and Michael were talking, the redhead’s duplicates were moving the unconscious band members over towards where Maestro was. She gave the younger teen a small smile as he mentioned having stuff he needed to get back to. "Yeah, we should be done here. If you need ta get back ta somethin' go head. One of me duplicates is handlin' what I was on campus for, so I can wait for the police ta arrive ta take this lot inta custody." She gave Michael a wider smile as she added. "Storm wouldn' want me ta pass up this chance at gettin' our names out there some. Do you want me ta mention you were here?"

Slipstream Lynn could not help but have a slight smile at Mattie’s excitement. Her roommate’s enthusiasm to…pretty much everything was a bit infectious, helping keep some of the blonde teen’s dark thoughts at a distance. It certainly helped make this outing more bearable for the teen. As Renee almost collided with her the sixteen-year-old sidestepped the other girl with a slight blur of motion. But the blond teen offered Renee a faint smile. "Hey Renee, nice costume." She commented, noting the seemingly change in the other girl’s typically more subdued demeanor. But she had barely responded to Renee's appearance when Alden came up to the three girls, also in a rather detailed costume complete with antlers. "Oh, hi Alden." Lynn said with another slight smile. "Mattie is right, that is a really amazing costume." She replied, before Gookgak appeared, seemingly out of nowhere. Having been in one in a Doom Room assessment with the small gobbeyln, the blonde teen was somewhat accustomed to his slipping in and out of view. But she was a bit taken aback when he reveled he had swiped some of the fake gems from the throne. "No….wait, that is not what Mattie meant!" Lynn tried to add as Gookgak slipped away again.

Timeout Lawrence had a small smile as Michael suggested it was somewhat uncommon for students to not have had much experience with superpowered crime fighting (or similar experience). But the blond teen knew that his own experience prior to coming to Claremont was far outside the norm. When Jack went into a bit more detail about his encounter with a super criminal and his henchmen over the summer (alongside Alden and Lynn), Lawrence grinned slightly. "It is an amazing painting." He replied to Jack's comment about Lynn's painting. "You are quite a talented artist Jack."

Timeout Lawrence Harrow had split off from Mizuki and Baz when they had talked about wanting to go out to the training grounds. The blond teen did not have quite the same interest in the more physical events there that his girlfriend and roommate did. He figured he could catch up with them after seeing more of the faire or met up with them somewhere else when they were ready to move on. So, he had decided to start with the animal pens to see some of the horses and other animals. The handsome blond teen was dressed in a rather fancy costume of a noble. He found the choice of costume to be a bit amusing, given that back in England he was considered a viscount due to his father's title, something he never brought up here in Freedom City. Turing a corner, Lawrence spotted a small group of teenagers up ahead. He quickly picked out Jack, one of the new students on the same floor in the dorms as Lawrence. He also recognized Sam, though he had not interacted with her much last year. There was a girl with Sam he did not recognize from Claremont, but the last teenage girl he did know from when he had been at Nicholson. "Oh, I expect a number of heroes that cannot fly have ways to get to some of the more remote rooftops in the city." He said aloud as he approached the group with his upper-class English accent. "Good to see you, Kate." Lawrence added with a warm smile. "Jack, Sam." The blond teen added looking to each in turn before focusing on the stranger. "I do not believe we have met. Lawrence Harrow." He said with a smile.

Timeout "No, this timeline is currently stable." Lawrence replied with a shake of his head at Parker's comments. "What I said is that we have no way of knowing what will happen to it when we leave." The blond teen continued to seemingly stare off into nothing as his eyes glowed with cosmic energy that trailed out of them in thins wisps before disappearing into nothing. "I am not so certain I would want to give the Communion access to the Terminus." Lawrence replied to Michael's suggestion. "But regardless, there are not nearly enough active drones in the area to do much if we did send them there, never mind having any chance of stopping Omega." "This timeline, to the extent it actually is one, is already drastically altered. Heroes that were supposed to be there to help my mother earlier not being there, the Communion arriving seven years ahead of time, likely even more that we are unaware of. Removing the Praetorians from it seems unlikely to do more damage than has already been done. And what the other Freedom City needs is an organized force that can challenge and stop Omega. Particularly if they know to focus on damaging his containment suit." The sixteen-year-old stopped talking for a moment, his eyes narrowing slighting. "Found them. Everyone seems alright, perhaps a bit worse for wear." He paused again before adding, "they seem to have met up with Archer and the rest of Force Ops and have been right in the thick of fighting Omegadrones." Lawrence paused a moment before taking a deep breath. "Okay, I think I can open a portal to there for the Praetorians and pull our friends out. Someone get Paradigm's attention so we can explain our plan to her."

Slipstream As the effects of the flashbang began to subside, with the other gallery patrons all appearing disoriented, the man in the top hat continued to press his attack against Harlequin. However, the fae prince easily danced out of the way of a somewhat clumsy swing of the electrified tip of the man’s cane. At the center of the room, Lynn took in what all was going on and noted that Jack appeared to have been disoriented by the flashbang. Tired of dealing with the electro-shocks from the Avant Guard, the blonde teenager went into motion, once again becoming a red blur as she moved from one Avant Guard to the next. *Crack* *Crack* *Crack* *Crack* In quick succession, Lynn delivered four supersonic punches to each Avant Guard, moving on to the next before the first even hit the ground unconscious. In short order she had dealt with all the Avant Guard that had been attacking her and Jack. With those threats dealt with, she closed on OD, trying to strike the leader as well. *CRACK* This time the speedster’s timing was off, and OD had started to move just in time to avoid the attack, as the speedster went past the large villain and came to a halt a short distance away. OD turned towards the disoriented Jack, a slight grin on his face. "You appear to be having trouble young one." He stated as he stepped forward and delivered a powerful punch (though slightly less powerful than before) on the teenager.

Okay, the guy in the top hat will again try to hit Harlequin with his cane, and misses. This brings up: ROUND THREE 34 Slipstream 1 HP (unharmed) 23 OD (unharmed) (-4 PP to all powers started Round 2) 21 Harlequin 2 HP (unharmed) 17 Avant Guard (8) 8 Arctus 0 HP (unharmed, Dazzled (vision) Round 2) 4 Renoir (unharmed) Lynn will turn to the Avant Guard around her and Jack, Taking 10 on the first one (with -2 atk/+2 dam) DC 25 save: first one down; will Takedown to the next: two down; three down; and last one almost makes the toughness save, but is still down. She will then try to punch OD: but misses. OD will step up to punch Arctus, hitting with a 26, that is a DC 25 toughness save @Jack. Then it is Alden's turn @Kaede Kimura

In order to make sure the Refs accurately count all your IC posts and award you the due amount of power points, please post with a list of all the threads in which your player character, NPC or sidekick posted IC this month (including the News forum). Also list any threads which you are GMing. GM posts count as double and can be assigned to whichever of your characters needs a 'push'. This topic will automatically close on the seventh day of the following month (i.e., November 7th, 2024 at Midnight EST). When you make your list, post a link to your first post for the month for each IC thread so we can jump right to it. When you start a thread, make sure IC is the first tag and topic prefix of the In Character thread, and OOC is in the first tag and topic prefix of the Out Of Character thread. It's not required, but additional tags including the major players and locations are viewed as a courtesy. Please list your threads in alphabetical order. Please clearly note any threads in which you are both player and GM/running an NPC. In threads where you are both player and GM/an NPC, please be sure to mark each post so we can tell who it should be allocated to. Please list your threads in a timely manner. Extending the deadline one week into the following month is already a grace period. If you've done any "extracurriculars" -- artwork, HellQ, 20 Questions, NPC, vignettes, guidebook pages, etc. -- please be sure to list them along with your active threads. For more information on ways to earn power points, see Character Advancement and Awards in the House Rules section of the Guide. Post counts should be formatted similar to the following: To make clear how many posts from rollover and GM posts are assigned to each character. Failure to comply with these guidelines may result in being sent to labor in the acid mines your post counts being postponed or skipped completely. If you missed the deadline, see this thread.

Timeout "The robed entity was the same one that came after me when I was ten." Lawrence replied to Baz as the teen asked about the defeated entity. "We have never been able to figure out who or what it is, but it certainly appears to be afraid of Collapse." Up in the sky, the Communion spacecraft that had been in position above Freedom City had retreated back up into orbit (or beyond). The Communion’s advance within the city seemed to have been halted, and Deadalus and other members of the Freedom League seemed to be conferring with the various aliens that Lawrence had returned to normal off to one side of the park. The Praetorians had helped deal with the last Communion drones in the area and where not gathered around Paradigm not far from the group of teens as they discussed finding their missing friends. Lawrence looked over at Vueriz as she mentioned trying to build something to try to locate the other Claremont students. "I have little doubt you could." The blond teen replied. "But I am not sure our friends have time to wait." "I think I can possibly find them a bit quicker." He added as his eyes began to glow bright blue with cosmic energy once again. "However, the question is what to do when we find them. Even if we can get them out of where they are, there is still the matter of a Freedom City facing the Terminus Invasion without a Centurion to stop Omega." He paused a moment as he seemed to begin looking out into nothing before adding, "but….I think I have an idea."

@EternalPhoenix No, he focused on the troops on the ground.

GM Up in the sky, the two space fighters veered towards Stormchild, streaking towards her as the energy weapons built into the hull of each fighter opened fire. Powerful blasts of energy struck Stormchild as the two fighters sped past her and several blocks further along the skyline. Down on the street, Owen unleased a massive burst of energy among several of the holographic opponents. Six of the troopers and one of the larger aliens were all blown off their feet and sent flying, disappearing as the struck the ground defeated. However, one of the large aliens seemed unfazed by the blast and aimed a large two-handed energy weapon as the teen and fired. The blast of energy struck Owen’s forcefield squarely. Another of the large aliens had been caught in Gookgak’s magical spell, making it seem a bit hesitant and uncertain. But it turned its focus toward Serendipity and rushed towards him, swinging a large battle axe at the teen. However, the agile Reil was able to dodge the attack with seeming relative ease.
