  1. Velocity had just watched as the others reacted to all the facilities that where at their disposal, assuming they all agreed to take the offer that was being made. At All-Star's reaction to the MAVERIC, she smiled and leaned over to whisper to Grim. "Boys and their toys." At Jack's comments, the speedster spoke up. "Well, the 'who' should be reveled soon enough, but the 'why' should be rather obvious." "You've worked rather hard at fighting crime in this part of the city over the last few years. I know Grim has been focused on lots of street crime in other parts of the city as well. All-Star and Colt have also been pretty busy dealing with things recently. For all the good everyone has achieved on their own, so much more could be achived working together. The Freedom League has started to focus more globally, believe me I know, not even twenty four hours ago some of us where dealing with a small crisis in Kenya. I used to be much more locally focused before joining the League."
  2. Velocity had beaten All-Star down to spiral stairway by a few seconds, a difference which would not have seemed like too much to the casual observer. She was waiting with her arms crossed as the caped hero arrived. “Your fast.†She said with a smile. “But not quite fast enough.†They then had to wait for their potential-future-teammates as they made their way down at more normal speeds. She watched, again with a bit of amusement, as the Doktor, through his computer generated front-man, began detailing the more unusual features of the building. The headquarters seemed to have most everything a fledgling super team would need. While it was not quite Freedom Hall (let alone the Lighthouse), it still was pretty impressive. “Not bad. Vince.†She replied as the virtual tour ended.
  3. Hehe, I was sort of in the same boat last night (thankfully All-Star's challenging Velocity to a race gave me an out )
  4. Not sure how you want to handle the race War, but Velocity is going "full" speed (that is using the alt power of her speed array which pushes her speed up to 10) not to mention she has the much higher initiative :)
  5. Velocity had just been about to answer Blink’s general question when a voice began speaking from a flat screen TV. She was not sure why Doktor Archeville was playing mysterious like this, but had been told to not let the others know of his involvement until he reveled it, so she just smiled slightly and waited, not acting at all surprised by the revelation of spiral stairs which led down. The speedster grinned slightly. “Sure, your on.†She replied almost too quickly to be understood before she started off at top speed as well, easily weaving around others.
  6. “Nice to meet you then Jack.†Velocity replied with a warm smile. She then turned back to Blink as the other woman replied. “It's not really as hard as you think.†She replied encouragingly with a small grin. Velocity giggled slightly. “Nah, they have moved beyond that one.†She replied with a dismissive wave. The speedster then gave a broad grin. “Weeeeell, that’s cause I once KO’ed his evil doppelganger from another dimension.†It was then that Jack and All-Star got into a bit of a chest-thumping contest… Velocity just rolled her eyes slightly (behind the visor) as she instead focused on the newest, and apparently youngest, arrival. While he did not look like much, she had learned long ago that things where not always what they seemed. “Hi Kristian.†She said with a warm smile. “I’m Velocity.â€Â
  7. Velocity looked at the others as they made their way in. She recognized Colt, having met him recently at the Carnival, though he would not recognize her in costume. “Nice to meet you Colt.†She said with a cheerful smile. The speedster then focused on the other woman who seemed a bit unsure about being there. “Well, you’ve found the right place Blink, I’d say we are indeed a very special group.†She replied with a wide smile. Another man followed closely behind Colt, somewhat similarly dressed as he greeted Grim and then Colt before facing Velocity and Blink, giving them a bow. “Nice to meet you.†She replied, though she realized he had not given a name. “I’m Velocity.†It was then that yet another person arrived, this one looking much more the part of a hero. “It’s something like that.†She speedster replied with a smile. “Your All-Star right? I’ve heard Cap and Lady Liberty talking about you.â€Â
  8. Ahh, perfect timing. Velocity thought to herself as she approached the address Doc had given her and the door was opened by a young woman. With a slight acceleration, she covered the last few hundred feet and took advantage of the open door to zip inside, leaving a small gush of wind at her passing. Looping around and coming to a halt just inside, she looked over at Grimalkin as her brown ponytail swished up from the sudden halt. She was just in time to hear Grim introduce herself. "Thanks for getting the door Grim. I do hate having to wait." She said with a wide smile. "Hi, I'm Velocity." She said as she focused on those coming in the door.
  9. Megan and her friends looked over at the new arrival, each showing slight surprise (and a bit of revulsion) at what appeared to be a VERY good zombie costume. Megan recovered first, replying, “yeah, we’re fine. Thanks for asking.†Megan focused back on the other girl. “Yeah, some performance by a fire eater or something. Want to come along?†She asked as she started off in the direction of the show.
  10. Hmm, Velocity is likely at least as easy to know as All-Star, if not easier. She has been a member of the Freedom League after all, and at the hero thing for four years.
  11. I am assuming that Megan and anyone else that goes with her and her friends can still catch the beginning of Spitfire's act (given the slightly fuzzy timing of events) :)
  12. Carnival Center Megan gave Colt an appreciative smile for the compliment. Summer and Dawn brightened at the thought of a superhero wanting to come to see one of their squads performances. “Wow, that would be awesome.†Summer replied. “Our next game is next Friday, at Aston High.†Dawn added. Megan also focused back on the other girl. Megan wondered a bit about the girl’s strange reaction, but figured it really was not any of her concern, after all, plenty of people did not like going to doctors for a variety of reasons. The girl did not seem badly hurt, so making a big issue out of things did not seem necessary. “Yeah, you never can.†The blonde girl just replied in agreement. “Well,†she then added, speaking up a bit and addressing both Yuki and Colt. “We were heading over towards the west side of the park for that show the announcer talked about. Hopefully we can still make it.â€Â
  13. Well, Doc didn't need to do much to track down Velocity, just stop by Freedom Hall to chat with her I agree with Har that eventually eveyone would know each others identities. Velocity has let a few others learn hers, but wouldn't really want to revel it right off the bat. While she would be leery of living at the Brownstone if it threatned her secret ID, living there and going to school in New Haven isn't really an issue (after all, she can be there in no time flat). She also has the resources to have an off-campus place that is her "home" as far as classmates and the school are concerned (course, she likely won't be there much, which could be an issue if college friends come looking for her ) I vote Open Secret.
  14. Here is some rep stuff for Velocity (and her alterego). I might add a bit more if some more comes to me. Learning about Velocity Learning about Megan Howell
  15. Well, it is possible to talk to the press without revelling where funding is coming from. :)
  16. As you made a roll Quote, I made a bluff check for Megan. Got a 30.
  17. Megan just smiled as Colt indicated he did not know anything abut Yale and then went on to focus on her having been a cheerleader. She was rather accustomed to comments about her looks, and Colt’s pretty much fell in the middle of the scale. “Well, was a cheerleader.†She replied. “I didn’t try out for the team at my university. Wasn’t sure I would have time for that given how demanding classes can be.†She then looked over at the girl who had pulled her out of the way of the inattentive young man and had now been standing to the side rather quite. “You okay?†She asked, remembering the girl had seemed to be a bit wobbly when she had gotten up (and wondering how much of that was real or faked, given how quickly the girl had moved).
  18. Velocity looked out the window next to her seat in the back of the Pegasus space-plane as clouds sped by underneath. While she was actually able to reach speeds faster than the space-plane, for long distances it was actually rather nice to ride instead of run, especially when running would have to be over the ocean for thousands of miles. Captain Thunder's voice pulled her attention back to the others seated in the Pegasus. "Good work everyone." The Freedom League leader stated to those who had accompanied him to Kenya. Deadalus was piloting the Pegasus, and Pseudo and Star Knight where also present. Velocity gave smiled at Thunder's praise, and then took a glance at her watch, which was still set on Eastern Standard Time. It was almost 3 AM back in Freedom City, as well as New Haven. Even the hardest partiers at her university would likely be calling it a night before she was able to get back, so the party she had to slip out of six hours ago when she got the call from Deadalus would certainly be over. Inwardly the young woman sighed. She had been extremely thrilled and honored when Raven had extended her an offer of membership with the Freedom League a little over a year ago. While she was still honored, the thrill had faded some, particularly as it seemed that more and more of what she was called to do involved traveling around the world. While the Pegasus planes were fast, and the teleporters from the Lighthouse faster still when they could use them, the missions still seemed to take a considerable amount of time. This had resulted in missed classes, and of course, missed socializing time with her classmates. Balancing superheroing, schoolwork and a social life had been something she had had to deal with since her Sophomore year in high school (with the schoolwork part made easier by being able to fit hours of study time into a fraction of the time thanks to superspeed). But it had also been a lot easier as she had confined most of her activities to Freedom City. She had been able to rush off to some crisis, deal with the bad guys, talk to a reporter or two, and then still get back to some high school party or whatever and enjoy being with her friends. These days she hardly ever seemed to spend much time in Freedom City, except when she went home to see her parents as just Megan Howell. "You okay Velocity?" Star Knight, who was sitting closest to her, asked. The young speedster looked over at her teammate and gave a wide smile. "Yeah, just a bit tired, all these time zone changes and such." The other woman nodded her head. "You think that can throw your internal clock off, try space travel." Velocity chuckled. "I bet." She spent the rest of the flight chatting with Star Knight. When the Pegasus space-plane touched down less than an hour later, Velocity and the others made their way out. After saying goodbye to the others, the speedster started off to make the run back to New Haven, when Cynthia's voice (Freedom Hall's robotic receptionist) came over her communicator. "Velocity, you have a visitor." Skidding to a halt just short of the front door, Velocity frowned slightly and looked over at Cynthia. Who the heck could be wanting to talk to me? She thought to herself. Then she remembered just how late it was, which made her even more curious. After Cynthia directed her to the conference room where her visitor was waiting, Velocity zipped her way over, almost seeming to just appear in the room. She immediately recognized the individual sitting in one of the chairs. "Doktor Archeville." She said with a friendly smile. "You're burning the midnight oil." The Doktor did not seem overly surprised by her sudden appearance, setting down a cup of tea and returning her smile. "Yes, vell, I often keep strange hours, particularly vhen I am vorkink on important projects. In fact, this is vhy I hopped to speak vith you for a bit." Suddenly Velocity was in a seat across from the good Doktor, giving him a slight shrug. "Well, given the late hour, I don't really have anywhere to be, so I can listen for a bit." ----------------------------------------- The next day, Velocity was speeding along the freeway between New Haven and Freedom City. Glancing at her watch, she was only a few minutes from the time Doktor Archerville told her he was asking other young heroes in Freedom City to meet at a brownstone in the West End. She would easily be able to make the last few miles she had to cover in that time and arrive when some of the others should be showing up, that way she could just zip in when the door is open, and not have to stop outside and knock. Her mind was still turning over what the Doktor had told her last night (or actually, early in the morning) and partially undecided about just what she wanted to do. Archerville had told her he was wanting to organize and fund a team of young adult heroes that would focus on criminal activity in Freedom City and had asked if she might be a part of the team. The idea of working with heroes more her own age was appealing (while she really liked and respected the others on the Freedom League, they always did seem so much older than her). The fact the team would focus on Freedom City was also appealing, as it could allow her to more easily balance heroing and her private life. But, there was still the fact she was already part of the Freedom League, and not sure she wanted to ask to step away from that just yet. Well, she thought, if nothing else I can meet some other heroes around my own age, always good to have others you can call on if the need arises.
  19. Velocity Carnival in the park The Interceptors: Issue #0 Reputation post
  20. Carnival Center With the young man who had created the little scene by not looking where he had been going left, Summer and Dawn seemed to get a good look at the cowboy that had interceded. When they did, their faces lit up some with recognition. “Oh my gosh, your that new hero in town. . . Colt right?†Summer asked. Megan glanced over at her two younger friends and then back at Colt, acting as if a faint recognition had just come to her as well. “Oh yeah, I’ve read a bit about you. Sorry I didn’t recognize you sooner, but I don’t always keep up on current events much anymore.†She pointed to the front of her sweatshirt, with the word “YALE†across the front. “Tend to be studying a lot of the time.†“But anyway, I’m from here, my parents live in North Bay. I am back in town for a few days to help my friends here with some things for the cheerleading squad at my old high school.†“Yeah, Megan was always a great choreographer for dance routines.†Dawn chirped in. “So when we need a bit of help we gave her a call.†Megan smiled before she continued. “Yeah, so as I decided to stay in town all weekend, we decided to come check out the carnival.â€Â
  21. Megan noted the wink from the cowboy, not something she was unaccustomed to, but somewhat more subtle than some reactions she received. It was at this point that she noticed the pistol at his hip, and suddenly realized who he was. She had read about the arrival of an extra dimensional cowboy that went by the name Colt (among other aliases). Not letting on that she had an idea who he was, she glanced back over at the young man who had almost run into her. Megan almost smirked at the semi-apology, but instead gave a small smile. “Yeah, no worries.†She replied. Summer and Dawn just gave Kristian cold looks, but kept quite.
  22. QMN, I wanted to be sure, Colt does not really conceal his identity does he? I have made a Gather Information roll for Megan (as she has the Well Informed feat ). But I won't post anything about what she might realize from possibly recognizing Colt until I hear from you.
  23. Well, wouldn't the size include the underground facilities? (I thought the idea was to have some)
  24. Well, don't forget, several features would be underground. But, if we go with the roommates idea, we could get by with only one unit. We would really only need four bedrooms, and could convert something else into one (like on the master suite level, that and the reading room could be one large space for the three girls).
  25. Megan looked over to where the boy who had almost run into her and her friends was knocked down by a young man dressed like a cowboy. As the new arrival asked if she and the other girl where being bothered by the inattentive boy, Megan glanced at him and then back at the cowboy. “Bothered? No, not really, just a case of not paying attention to where your going.†She replied as she started to get back to her feet, something she could have done before anyone even knew she had moved, had she wanted.
