Velocity Megan gave Jack a small smile as he mentioned how being a parent changed things. "You always hear from people how being a parent changes your perspective, but when you are young, you don't believe it will actually change you. But then, when you do become a parent, you realize how true it is, and how everything has changed." After directing Jack to where the daycare was, the speedster waited down at the base of the stairs while he went up to check in on Neko. When he retuned and indicated he was ready to face Viktor, she gave him a nod and lead him back towards the conference room. As they went, the speedster glanced over. "Seeing as you were not here when I decided to remove my mask," Megan gestured toward her natural blonde hair, "my real name is Megan, though happy to continue answering to Daytona." Soon, they arrived at the doors to the conference room and Megan led him in.

GM As the shuttle entered the cruiser’s main hanger, Rex-01 was able to project a holographic display of the hanger for the gathered Praetorians. What it showed was not what one would normally expect aboard a Khanate military cruiser. Where one would expect a bustling hanger, filled with star fighters and other smaller spacecraft, was instead, nearly empty. A small handful of shuttle craft were lined up along one side of the hanger, but they were not the large, assault shuttles used by the Khanate, but smaller, lightly armed vessels more appropriate for courier or diplomatic duty. There were also very few figures in the hanger, a few maintenance crew gathered around one of the shuttles, and two other individuals standing toward the inner most wall of the hanger, awaiting the inspection shuttle’s arrival. One was dressed in the teal and navy-blue robes often worn by Zultasian nobles. The other, was dressed in the armor of a Khanate Justicar. Once the shuttle had landed and the inspectors began to disembark, the Zultasian noble and Justicar moved forward to greet them. "Greetings mighty Praetorians, honored representatives of the Lor Republic, I am Ambassador Malor and on behalf of the Star Khan and the Stellar Khanate I welcome you aboard. May I introduce Justicar Vor'an." The ambassador indicated the Justicar beside him briefly before continuing. "Given the…unpleasant events which occurred during the last, and admittedly mostly false, diplomatic mission to CoVic Station, we fully understand the need for this inspection to confirm our intentions before allowing us to proceed with any audience before the council and intend to cooperate fully." Justicar Vor'an slowly took a few steps forward, extending his arms out to hold his power staff out in front of him, resting on the palms of his open hands. "Praetorians, as a further gesture of good will, I surrender my power staff to your custody for the duration of your inspection and any audience on CoVic Station which may be granted to our delegation." The Justicar stated simply. The Praetorians and Rex-01 were well aware that the Justicar armor provided its wearer with considerable protection, but it was the power staff that provided them with the majority of their offensive capability, capable of challenging a Star Knight, and even potentially harming Paradigm on the highest settings.

Veronica Danger The monk that had been sparing with Rex gave Davyd a small bow in return as he and his companions silently watched the interactions between Rex and his sister and Lulu. The young Danger was slightly taken aback at his sister’s reaction, "I mean I.." and then he as cut off by Lulu as she started in on him, further throwing Rex off. "But I…" "I can…" He tried several times to interrupt, but the Southern redhead did not give him any opportunity to do so until she was finished with what she had to say. As he listened, Rex’s somewhat cocky confidence appeared to deflate somewhat. When she had finally finished, Rex began to answer. "I…I had planned to go back out and let people know I was okay. I…just lost track of time." "What was so important that you could not at least come out and let us know you were okay and where you were?" Veonica asked, still somewhat frustrated. "I get that this place is beautiful and has a quaint charm to it." Rex gave his sister a slightly annoyed look. "What about that time you and Janus got stuck in…" "That was different." Veronica stated, cutting off her brother. "First, we were older, but more importantly, we did not have an immediate means of returning, so we had to spend a bit of time figure out how to get back."

Yeah, I saw, but Computers is also trained only and Bernadette doesn't have it. She is the wrong PC for these challenges (Synapse could have done them blindfolded )

Well, in this case computers might have been a good option, but again, not in her wheelhouse. Edited my IC post that she was going to move in front of Ruin and try to block her (and the dup still pulling the fire alarm)

Well, Disable Device is really for picking locks (without breaking them) or disarming bombs and the like. As neither skill is really in Bernadette's wheelhouse (and likely never will be), she will just try to block Ruin using a strength check and rolls poorly for just a 16 I will edit my post.

Timeout Lawrence shifted slightly at Vueriz's question, glancing over at Baz quickly. Over the past few months, the blond teen had learned how Baz did his best to hide some of his feelings about his transformation behind his carefree façade. The changes to his appearance was certainly at the top of the list. For his part, Lawrence did his best to treat Baz no different than anyone else. Of course, he could understand how Vueriz might be confused by Baz’s appearance and make the assumption she had. "Well, the technology standard here on Earth is very different than that in other parts of this galaxy. Much of what exists in the Lor Republic and other nearby portions of this sector certainly would be considered 'super' here on Earth as well." He stated, looking to shift the subject some. "Where you able to bring much of your technology with you?"

Multi-Girl Bernadette grinned slightly as Luke mentioned she would miss school once she was done. In some ways, the redhead was a bit uncertain what her exact plans would be once she graduated Claremont. Things seemed promising with the band, but she wondered if she might also want to try to take some college classes, which Leon mentioned still having. Then Luke wrapped his arms around her and Leon and started leading the trio back towards where the other members of the band were. The Irish teen just laughed and clicked her beer bottle against Leon’s before taking a drink and letting Luke lead the way. Soon they were in a larger space where several different groups of people were gathered just off stage. It was a bit loud, as the current performance could be heard, but was still not quite as loud out in the main room. Up head were the other three members of Bernadette’s band, who spotted the trio as the approached. "Guys, ya might remember Summer." Bernadette said, indicating Summer Sands, the guitarist for the band. The tall dark-haired girl gave them a small nod. "Hi, I think I remember you two starting during my Junior year at Claremont." "This is Mark," Bernadette indicated the drummer, "an' John," she indicated the bass player, "they were a year or so ahead o' Summer. Everyone, Luke an' Leon." The redhead introduced each of the two in turn. Both Mark and John shook hands with Luke and Leon as the introductions were made and greetings exchanged.

Kestevan 79 Coalition Victory Station Lor time mark 2104.5 For the last several cycles, tensions along the boards of the Coalition worlds and the Stellar Khanate had been high. After Star-Khan’s brief attempt to restore the Khanate to its pre-Incursion boards, which had only been partially successful, things had gone back to the longstanding status quo of occasional build up of military forces on either side of the boards and the far more common influence and activities of the criminal organizations allowed to operated basically unchecked within the Khanate’s boarders. But other than the military forces or the Praetorians and Star Knights, most beings within the Coalition and Lor Republic went about their daily routines, building on the progress that had been made since the end of the Incursion. Recently, there had been reports suggesting some sort of disruption within the boards of the Khanate, although details were rather sparse. There were even rumors that began to make their way to Republic and Coalition governments that Kinan Khan, the once formidable Star-Khan, had died, succumbing to a combination of his advancing age and the terrible injuries he suffered at the hands of the Communion. However, thus far, those rumors were not yet confirmed. One thing was clear, something was happening within the Khanate, which brough the concern of whether whatever was happening would erupt beyond its borders. So, when a Khanate cruiser approached the system that was home to Coalition Victory Station and hailed the station requesting an audience with the Coalition council, it was cause for great concern. This was particularly true as the last time a Khanate warship had visited CoVic Station, it had been part of a ruse to steal certain information and materials from the station and coincided with the launch of Star-Khan’s attempt to reconquer lost worlds. While Republic and Coalition forces along the Khanate boarder were put on high alert in preparation for any renewed hostilities, the cruiser was held far from CoVic Station until its intentions could be confirmed. As a gesture of good will, the Khanate vessel had agreed to allow a group of inspectors abord to confirm it was not preparing for an attack. And so, a shuttle craft carrying three members of the Praetorians and several members of the Lor Navy made its final approach to the main hanger of the Khanate cruiser….

Hey Huck, no, you are right, I should have asked for some clarification about that here before just posting. If you want me to make any rolls for anything (like her trying to figure out a way to shut down the timer), just let me know and I can edit my IC post. If she cannot spot something easily (which it does not sound like she can), I can also go back and edit. One thought for another way to proceed is to just have her try to get in front of Ruin and block her from being able to enter the chamber. I assume the duplicate can go ahead with just pulling the fire alarm.

Yeah, sorry about the confusion, I will try to be as clear as I can in both IC and the OOC posts and give heads up on things that could be an advantage like the idea of blasting the track behind you (there will be two more chances to do so when it is a bridge over water, and probably other opportunities as well). I plan on one stage (round of rolling) in Kingston before we are back on a bridge into the City Center. As for defensive driving, you still make a general drive roll for where you might end up in terms of position, but you do not get the +3 bonus, but yeah, you use your action to just drive defensive, I will give a +4 dodge bonus to defense for the round. So no attacks/rams or anything else in that stage.
-
@The Sailor @Huckleberry @BitCook Okay, next stage is through the ruins of Kingston, with Omegadrones closing in to attack everyone. Unfortunately, the track is no longer a bridge over water, however, once through Kingston, there will be another bridge that leads into the City Center of downtown. I forgot to add in the IC, but there are some powerups ahead. Time for rolls/actions.

Timeout Lawrence continued to accelerate in his racer, rippling forward at times in a temporal distortion as his powers kicked in. These jumps helped push him out of reach of the remaining Koopa that was up toward the front, and ended up around Consuelo. Several tentacles lashed down after the blond teen, Consuelo and the lead Koopa, but all missed. Muzki was back up out of the water just as the track began climbing up out of the bay in which the marina sat and up into North Bay proper. The racers zipped by sprawling estates with massive mansions at the track turned to the southwest and toward the ruins of Kingson. Vicki unfortunately fell behind, tangled up with one of the Koopas. In short order, the group was entering the outskirts of Kingson, which quickly gave way to destroyed buildings and homes, the massive form of the Doomforge looming to the north. Lawrence had pulled a good way ahead of the pack and could see Quirk and the girl up ahead. But then his attention was drawn to several figures that were coming from the direction of the Doomforge. "Everyone I think I see the next wrinkle Quirk has for us. Omegadrones." As Vicki and Consuelo entered into the ruins of Kingson, looking to the north, they could see the rapidly approaching forms of at least a dozen large, armored figures flying through the air towards them….

Yeah, sorry, as I have said, I have been kind of playing things a bit fast and loose with this thread, given the unusual nature of Quirk and the "world" he has dumped the PCs in. Here is the general "rules" I am following: The general drive/reflex roll is an measure of how the PC is doing in terms of staying in control and moving forward/falling behind in the race. As you indicate, if you just focus on going as fast as possible (basically moving all-out), you get a +3 bonus (though Lawernce is able to make use of his Speed, and Mizuki was able to use her swimming when she was under water). If you choose to ram an opponent, then the roll is your attack roll, and still is considered as a general roll above (ie how well you stay in control and in position in the race). A bad roll on a ram attempt would not only be a miss, but could indicate losing control and falling behind. I do take into account particularly good drive rolls when compared to ram attack, particular if the defender is already in the lead and trying to just pull ahead (as Lawrence has done), as the attacker just cannot keep up. If you wanted to drive purely defensively, then there would be a general drive roll and you would get the advantage of the Dodge action against any attacks. Hope this helps.

Multi-Girl Bernadette’s two duplicates had glanced at each other as Toxin gave something of a partial explanation of why she was intent on killing Shields, although it still left a lot unanswered. However, that was quickly forgotten as the original Bernadette watched with horror as Murnie went to try to stab Sheilds, and ended up stabbing Luke instead. And then everything seemed to go mad as the poem continued to echo through the warehouse and then the unconscious foes she had knocked out earlier rose back to their feet and more people started making their way into the warehouse, crowding around them all. Most of Bernadette's duplicates began to disappear, as she and one duplicate closed in close, almost back-to-back and moved over near Ghule and Shift, looking around them at all these people that had crowded into the warehouse, before their attention was drawn to nightmarish figure that pulled itself out of the fissure that formed near Shields. "Oh, bugger me." Bernadette and her duplicate said in unison.

Velocity Megan gave another small smile at Jack’s reflexive banter, glad that he had regained his composure and calmed down. "The split ends wigs give you are such a pain aren't they?" She joked back. "I have more faith in you than that Jack. I came out here in part to let you know everything was under control, but also to show you the way to where we are meeting with Viktor." "But I fully understand your concern. My foster daughter is helping Neko in the daycare, and I have not heard anything to suggest there are problems there. I am afraid I have not seen Owain, but my son and several of his Claremont classmates are currently out on the makeshift dance floor," the speedster gestured towards the doors to the room that had been set up as a dance floor, "and enjoying the music. If you want to look around for Owain and check in on Neko before going back to where the others are, take as much time as you need. You have always been more than welcome here."
-
Multi-Girl "Yeah, very nice to meet you Neko, though I kinda recall seeing you around campus my senior year, but I don’t think we had any classes together. Bernadette and I got to know each other in music." Summer replied to the Japanese teen as she regarded the little robotic ladybug that began buzzing around the room. "Umm, okay." She replied at Neko's explanation of what the robot was doing. Bernadette just smiled, having seen the robotic ladybug before, and recalling Ryder and his various robots. Kicking off her shoes, she took a seat on the sofa as Neko continued to speak to Summer. From the kitchen area, the duplicate Berandette called over, "Summer, would it kill ya ta at least get the dishes inta the dishwasher?" The dark haired girl ignored the duplicate and focused on Neko as she responded to the teen’s compliments about her music. "Thanks, it has been a lot of fun working on the songs we want to try out and even writing a few originals." "As for where I learned to play, well, I started playing when I was about ten or so, my parents able to get me lessons until I began attending Claremont. I think I was really able to take things to the next level there. After graduating, I sort of spent the last year drifting around, making a bit of money here and there playing, but not really finding a place where I fit or had the opportunities I wanted." "When I heard about this competition in Boston back in August, I reached out to Bernadette to join me in it. I understand she has told you the whole story of what went down there, but bazar trip to a musical dimension aside, we killed it at that competition and decided to start our band." Summer shrugged her shoulders. "So, we used the prize money to rent this place for me back here in Freedom and I contacted a couple guys that were a year ahead of met at Claremont that played drums and bass, and here we are." "So that is kinda where we are Neko." Bernadette interjected. "We have a band, an' are gettin' shows an' even have some traffic on a website we got set up, but we are sure there is so much more we could do." "We could focus on trying to get signed by a traditional record label" Summer added. "But that likely would mean having to surrender a lot of control over things, not to mention them taking a large share of any money we make."

Timeout Lawrence had given Mizuki a smile in return as she had arrived and then turned to focus when Crimson Tiger began explaining and showing the basics of martial arts before instructing them to pair up and start practicing. As might be expected, Baz was quick to jump at the opportunity, delivering a powerful punch, but also managing to end up on the floor in a bit of tangle in the process. "Baz, you really need to learn keep your joints in place." He said with a small smile as he generated a small temporal distortion that helped pop Baz's arm back into place and heal any minor damage that might have been associated with the dislocation. The teen then stepped up to one of the normal bags to deliver some punches for Crimson Tiger to observe. It was clear to her that he had the strength of an average, if somewhat athletic sixteen-year-old and that he appeared to have had some prior instruction on how to throw a punch but was not put much effort into perfecting his form or timing.
-
Timeout Lawerence gave a small smile as Baz discussed how far Vueriz might have come from and gave a distance that, while vast, was rather insignificant in relation to the distance between galaxies. "You are just a bit off on the distance there Baz. I expect Vueriz is from much, much further away." The blond teen said with a small grin to his friend. At Vueriz's question to the group, Lawrence focused back on her and gave a small nod. "Yeah, all of us here do. I can control time and am able to move through it differently than most."
-
Timeout Lawrence slowed down as Mizuki did at the surprise of hearing his mother had once visited the Carl Vinson. The blond teen gave her a warm smile as they soon matched the rhythm once again. "It can certainly seem small at times, but yes, I am pretty sure that was the one." He replied. "This was back on December 31st, 2012, back before she had me or married my father." Even as he spoke, the teenager's jaw clinched slightly as he realized he said more than he should. He gave Mizuki another smile, hoping she would not catch his slip up.

Velocity Megan listened as Archeville began to explain how he came to be present at the party this evening. While it was certainly fantastical (as VINCE would point out), it also was very troubling to hear about the suffering of the Lor and the Praneobscid on this distant world. As he finished and VINCE gave his reaction, the blonde speedster looked over to Stesha a moment. But before either could say anything, Megan heard her communicator chime softly and looked down at it. "Well Viktor, it would appear that you may have the chance to speak with one of those I expect is at the top of the list." She said looking back up over to Archeville. "Jack has arrived at the Hall." Glancing back to Stesha and Ghost, she added, "I'll show him where we are." And with that she was gone in a yellow blur. Moments later the yellow blur came skidding to a halt in the lobby near where Jack of all Blades had stopped, her blonde hair swishing to one side (where normally there would have been a brunette wig). Despite herself and the seriousness of the situation, Megan could not help but grin. "You always knew how to make an entrance Jack, and look fantastic in the process." The speedster then let the grin fade and a serious expression replace it. "We are back this way." She stated, gesturing towards one of the side halls off the lobby.

Well, Gawain/Starshine could be, she just couldn't see them (it is selective by the way). We will go with they are not, so go ahead with an IC post!
