  1. Yes, thank you for reminding me. You still have another then!
  2. Well, you already used your HP, but you can always take extra effort and pick up a level of exhaustion, but, I will give you a HP for this action to protect the non-combatants (even if they are not real), so you have a HP if you want remove the fatigue condition. Fathom also rolls a 22 on his power check, but the tie here goes to Rot!
  3. Professor Fathom will try to blast Gamma Buzz as well (as he is the one closest), and misses with a 17! The blast was level, so is heading towards civilians, @Huckleberry Give me a Power check for Rot's counter (d20 + the rank of your power).
  4. @The Sailor @Huckleberry Okay, going to try something here that and we will see if it works. If everyone can give me a Drive or Reflex check, along with a brief description of what they are trying to do at this point in the race (ie: just try to go as fast as possible (ie get the lead); try to get one of the power ups; try to knock a car off course so it falls behind, etc). Also, if you want to try to use a power in a way that might help with the race, let me know and give me an attack roll (if your using some sort of attack, along with any intended target(s)) or a power check (straight 1d20 + the ranks in the power your using) and again, description of what you are trying to do. Once everyone does, I will try to get up a brief summary of how things work out and everyone can start posting IC, adding dramatic flair as appropriate for the post. BitCook anticipated this already Lawrence is going to try to sideswipe K1 and get them to go out of control (to not get a power up or get a lead). He gets a 27 on his Reflex check! K1 is going to go for a power up, only getting a 15 on his drive/reflex check K2 is going to try to sideswipe Lawrence, getting a 20, Normally would hit, but has to roll the miss chance for Lawrence's concealment 20 which is a miss. K3 is going to go for the other power up, getting a 17 Finally, K4 will try to sideswipe TL2, getting a 22 (Sailor, this will hit, but will also compare this to your drive/reflex check). EDIT: Forgot to add, if you want to just try to go as fast as possible, add +3 to your roll (drive/Reflex) for the speed of the racers).
  5. Timeout Lawrence gave a small smile at Vicki’s question before answering into the headset he had put on. "Well, with regard to Quick specifically, last time I saw him I was twelve, but my understanding is that it is not at all unusual for Claremont students to get caught up in all sorts of unusual events. And no, I don't believe they are typically factored into grading." At Mizuki's question, the blond teen added, "Knowing Quirk, it could be anything, just have to be ready to adapt as best we can." The four teens guided their racers down the course, passing through some of the wooded parts of Bayview, passing a few homes as they went. "Quirk and....whoever that was with him are somewhere up ahead, so we have to catch up." Lawrence stated. But just as he did, the teens saw four smiley face-teacup cars driven by Koopas pull up nearby. Up head, the course made a wide turn, and visible in the distance were a pair of multicolored translucent cubes with a question mark inside. "Looks as if Quirk has included powerups, anyone game for trying one out?"
  6. Yes, that is correct
  7. Absolutely, would be holding her action and countering as appropriate
  8. GM Black dots of special energy began to appear around the amorphous form of Sylph, but even as it did, the ghost like member of Factor Four shifted away from Spaceman's attack, avoiding it, at least for now. Meanwhile, over at the other side of the courtyard, Granite managed to steady himself, looking down at Gamma Buzz as he did. An expression formed on his rocky face that might have been a scowl as he moved forwards toward the teen. "I'm gonna smash you like the bug you are!" The rocky figure yelled as he raised both hands above his head and brought them down towards Gamma. Thankfully, the nimble teen was able to dodge aside, as the two massive fists struck the tiled floor, smashing a larger crater in it and sending bits of debris flying in all directions.
  9. That will miss Sylph. Granite will take a swing a Gamma Buzz, missing wildly with a 10. @Huckleberry Rot is up!
  10. @RocketLord Spaceman is up!
  11. He is easily within leaping distance of TL2. The fire blast just blew a hole in the tile, minor collateral damage.
  12. Mutli-Girl Bernadette felt much relieved after she and Consuelo finally exited the restroom and began looking for signs of where to go. Thankfully, the security guard caught sight of them and called over to them. The tall redhead stepped forward from Consuelo slightly and put herself between the approaching security guard and the green haired teen. This was in part Berandette acting as the older student present, but also to hopefully act as a buffer between Darrel and the strange aura that Consuelo gave off. "Yeah, that's us." Thankfully, he received a call before reaching the two, and asked woman Berandette had encountered in the restroom to show them to the media room. The Irish teen regarded the scientist with a slight bit of suspicion, but she seemed to belong her (Darrel seemed to know her), so she relaxed slightly and followed after the older woman. When she scientist pointed them down a hallway, Bernadette glanced back at Consuelo briefly before looking back to the older woman and gave her a small smile. "Thank you." She stated as she headed off in the indicated direction.
  13. Multi-Girl Keeping an eye on where the rest of the class provide at least something of a distraction to Bernadette's urgent problem. And just as the last of the group left her sight and she was starting to debate if she could perhaps leave Consuelo alone, the other stall opened and the redhead found herself facing the scientist that exited. "Sorry, excuse me mum." Bernadette offered with an apologetic smile as the two maneuvered around each other briefly. The Irish teen caught sight of the binder under Dr. Adamu's arm, but did not really have much time at the moment to give it much thought as she quickly made her way into the now vacant stall.
  14. She gets a 22, so a bruise
  15. Multi-Girl Bernadette's sense of victory quickly proved short lived, as the two remaining musical notes unleashed a powerful sonic attack, which caused the redhead and her duplicates to try to cup their ears, which were now ringing, preventing any other sound from being heard. She also felt the wave of sonic energy wash over her, slightly turning her stomach, but luckily she was able to withstand the feeling. Focusing back on the now silent scene around her, she could see the two remaining anti-bodies, sort of, and her duplicates were all there ready to act. Thankfully, she did not need to speak to direct them, and they all began moving towards the anti-bodies once again to attack. However, the Irish teen's equilibrium had been thrown slightly askew, and she and her duplicates did not act in quite a coordinated a manner as before. In fact, a couple of her duplicates collided with each other and both ended up on the ground. Ultimately, the two anti-bodies had managed to bounce away from the group of redheads. Meanwhile, the other duplicate was still running along with the Duke and Summer, pointing in urgently in the direction of the nearest body of water.
  16. Rinse and repeat, will try the area attack again, but misses, terribly. Will get an IC post up. The duplicate is still running with the Duke and Summer towards water.
  17. Timeout Lawrence gave a slight chuckle as Vicki talked about how some of her pervious attempts to get rid of the 8 ball. "Well, that does sound aggravating. Afraid magical objects is not really something I have any experience with." Up ahead, Lawrence pointed out two buildings to the pair's left, one, which was the larger of the two, was a combination gymnasium and auditorium, the other, smaller building was a chapel. This brought them to a much larger building, which, actually appeared to be several buildings that were all interconnected. The entire structure was of similar architectural style as the other building on campus and three stories high. Sitting at the corner nearest them was a section of the building was slightly taller than the two wings that extended out from it (one to the east, the other to the south). It also had a small turret located at the southwestern corner that rose above its peaked roof. Vicki could see other parts that slightly varied as well as Lawrence indicated the building directly ahead was the school library. They were just about to enter when Vicki turned back to the topic of powers, specifically, Lawrence's powers. "Well, I can control the flow of time, to a degree. For Michael, was a simple matter of reversing time so that the injury never occurred. I can slip in and out of it as well, making it seem as if I am moving at superhuman speeds, which can also be useful for getting a lot of studying done in very little time. I also can move forward and backward with in time and space." He said somewhat casually, perhaps not being as dismissive of his powers as he had often been in the past. As the two entered into the library, they encountered two students that were making their way toward the exit. One was a tall, muscular teen with blond hair, the other….looked like a humanoid insect with a green exoskeleton. Lawrence greeted the two with a wide smile. "Hey Parker, Baz." "Vicki, these are my friends, Parker and Baz." Lawrence stated, indicating each in turn. "Guys, this is Vicki, an old family acquaintance from England, and today is her first day at Claremont."
  18. Multi-Girl "Well…yes an' no. Older boys can bodycheck, so long as it is above the waist an' below the shoulders, an' you have ta keep both hands on yer stick when doin' so. They don' allow bodychecks in girl's lacrosse at all." Bernadett responded, shrugging slightly at the last as if she did not quite fully agree with it. "I mean, today we can just take things light an’ work on passin' an’ shootin', but…don' worry about me, I'm tougher than I look, an' even before my powers developed, I grew up playin' rugby with older brothers." The redhead said with a small smirk before she raised up her stick and prepared to toss the ball over to Michael.
  19. Timeout "Well, a lot of them know martial arts, sure." Lawrence replied to Michael's comment about non-powered heroes being masters of multiple martial arts. "But, there are also those that use technology to give themselves powers." But then the focus was back onto Vicki and her powers, at which point the British girl pulled out the magic 8 ball to show the group. While Lawrence had not particular knowledge or experience with magic, he certainly knew there were multiple individuals that wielded magic. And growing up within the superhero community of Freedom, he had seen plenty that had taught him that powers and abilities could come in all sorts of different ways. So, the blond teen accepted Vicki's announcement without any sign of doubt. But, then Consuelo had her reaction, and stormed off from the trio. Lawrence watched her go as he gave an internal sigh. The blond teen was aware of at least some of the issues the green-haired girl was dealing with, having heard her vent at Parker back during their first training session in the Doom Room. But, he suspected there was more than just that, but of course Consuelo was not likely to be willing to open up about that. He glanced over to Vicki and Michael, who seem upset about how things had unfolded. "I believe Consuelo is…dealing with some things, but not my place to really say. I know she seems to have made some friendships with some of the older girls, so maybe just give her some time." He offered, before turning to watch Vicki toss the 8 ball off into the snow, giving her a puzzled look. "Well, if your mentor knows about the 8 ball, I am sure she and the headmistress have discussed it. Claremont has more than a few alumni that are experience with magic, not to mention other connections, so if anywhere can find you someone that might be able help figure it out, it would be here." Lawerence stated before looking back over towards the main quad, a look on his face as if he was calculating something. "Well, classes are about to switch, we should probably get moving with the tour again, if for no other reason than to get out of the cold." He glanced back to Vicki, "umm, are you planning to just leave it over there in the snow?"
  20. Multi-Girl Bernadette had just been about to lead Consuelo back out to go look for another restroom when one of the stalls was vacated. The redhead looked at the somewhat large UPS driver, giving an apologetic shrug. "Field trip." She then looked over to Consuelo as the other girl spoke up and then at the now vacant stall. It was only a moment of thought before the Irish teen sighed. "You go ahead, an' try ta hurry." She then looked to the other stall, wondering if it might be free anytime soon. There was no way she could leave now, not with out Consuelo.
  21. GM The excitable Gamma Buzz leaps over to the towering figure of Granite, easily hitting the massive target with a powerful punch. *WHAM* However, it was like hitting a brick wall, literally, and Granite seemed unfazed by the attack. However, as the green glow from Gamma washed over him, Granite seemed to stagger backward slightly, as he also began to faintly glow with the same lurid green as Gamma Buzz. Meanwhile, the female figure seemed almost to vanish from view, the mist surrounding her seeming almost to dissipate before flowing across the courtyard and moving over around Spaceman’s feet. The greenish mist then raised up to surround his head, seemingly pulling the oxygen from the area, as the female figure reformed slightly behind him.
  22. @Supercape I think you mean DC 23 toughness save for the punch, Granite just makes his save with a 24. He gets a 12 on his fort save though! so is sickened (-2 to attack rolls). @Huckleberry Well, yes and no, the size penalty does affect a character like Granite, but it just means that you have to spend more PP to offset the penalties and hit PL caps. (sort of academic with an NPC like Granite) Sylph will go after Spaceman, flying over and trying to hit him with her Suffocate. I believe she hits with a 16, so that will be a DC 19 Fort Save @RocketLord @The Sailor Torpedo Lass is up!
  23. Timeout As Mizuki pointed out the key on the steering column to the green haired girl, Lawrence also called over to Consuelo, his tone hurried, but not impatient. "Turn the wheel to the left to turn left, right to right. The more you turn the wheel, the sharper the turn will be. Right foot to accelerate, left to break. I expect you will the hang of it quickly." Bue even as the two offered hasty instructions, Consuelo heard a faint *POP* in the Kart, and glancing back inside, she saw the steering wheel was gone, replaced by a game controller attached to one of those displays that you might see in a Target or similar store. As the four teens got into their karts and prepare to join the race, they momentarily seemed to leave their bodies as they had a bird’s-eye-view of the start of course, like what you might expect from a cut scene of a video game. A small box appeared in the upper right hand corner, as you might see during a sports or news broadcast, and inside was the man that had spoken to Lawrence before, only now he was wearing a tweed jacket and a hat with a piece of paper sticking out of the band, which had the word "PRESS" written on it (only the "E" was backwards). "Well race fans, Team Claremont appears to be ready to get started. This is sure to be a fabulous race. There is a bit of snow about the city, but the course is clear, for the most part, and the weather is looking good for the moment, isn't that right Vic?" The insert box in the upper right corner disappeared, replaced by another box, this time in the upper left corner. Again, inside was Quirk, only now he was wearing a grey sweater and no hat, but he did have a very obviously fake mustache on his upper lip. "Oh, most diffienetly Rick. There may be some treacherous conditions out over the Century Narrows, but with some ingenuity, the contestants should be able to avoid that." "Well, we will just have to wait and see how they do there Vic!" The right corner insert had reappeared with the hat wearing Quirk. "Now, let's give a brief rundown of the course for today. The race begins at stodgy Claremont Academy." The main part of the "screen" went white, like a piece of paper, and a cartoonish drawing of the main quad of the school appeared in the middle of the bottom of the paper, behind which stuck out a cartoon drawing of an angry Headmistress Summers, who was shaking her right hand in the air. "And where does the course take our racers from there Vic?" The insert flipped back to the mustache wearing Quirk in the upper left hand corner. "Well, from there Rich, the course winds through parts of Bayview and Port Regal, wrapping around the southern edge of Lake MacKenzie." As Quirk spoke, cartoon drawings of karts began to move away from the drawing of the quad, heading towards the right side of the "screen," swerving slightly too and froo as it headed slightly upward as well. As the cartoon karts went, a dotted line appeared behind them. Then, a cartoon lake appeared, with the karts and line going around the bottom of the lake and turning sharply to the left to head straight up. "It then passes through Ocean Heights Amusement Park." Up in the direction the karts where going, a cartoon drawing of a roller coaster and a merry-go-round appeared. "Let's hope the contestants don't get distracted by any of the attractions there Vic." "Certainly a risk Rick!" The cartoon karts passed between the drawings of the roller coaster and merry-go-round, continuing upward as squiggly line waves and a buoy appeared around them (along with a shark fin moving among the squiggly lines). "The course then heads out over the Century Narrows, where as we said the conditions could be treacherous, we will see if the contestants have any trouble there." "Could be dicey Vic! Well, that will take our racers up into part of North Bay, Lawrence's old stomping grounds, first passing by the yacht club." The cartoon karts came to a drawing of a pier, with several cartoon boats (although, one appeared to be sinking, as one end was turned up and it was slowly descending into a squiggly line wave). The karts then made a wide turn to the left, passing some carton mansions, and then began moving down to the left, towards the center of the screen. "Hopefully they won't get too complacent going through North Bay Rick, because after that they will pass through Kingston and past the defunct Doom Forge." The karts continued the direction they were heading, passing by a cartoon drawing of the massive Terminus machine that lay among the ruins of the Kingston neighborhood, cartoon drawing of a large figure in red armor with a flaming skull head could be seen next to the Doom Forge, stomping his feet in frustration. "If the contestants can make it through there, the course next heads into the City Center Vic." Ahead of the karts, several cartoon drawings of skyscrapers began to appear as the karts moved in among them, heading to a location a little was above where the drawing of Claremont was. "Which will of course take them around the headquarters of the Freedom Losers (nothing personal against your mom of course Lawrence)." The karts came to a cartoon drawing of Freedom Hall, over which stood cartoon figures of Gabriel, Fluer de Joie, Gaian Knight and Velocity, all initially looking heroic and confident, then dropping their shoulders and looking sad at Quirk's name for them. Looping around Freedom Hall, the karts turned right and began heading toward the upper left hand of the "screen." "That will lead them up toward the Wadding Way and through Pyramid Plaza Rick." The karts continued on their path through more skyscrapers, coming to a cartoon drawing of the familiar twisting three towers that made up Pyramid Plaza. Standing next to the iconic building was a cartoon ancient Egyptian, who kept looking between the trio of skyscrapers to one side, and an Egyptian pyramid to the other and scratching his head, over which there were several question marks. The karts again made a sharp left turn and began heading down towards the lower left hand corner of the "screen." "Well Vic, from there it is through Liberty Park as they start making their way to the final stretch." The karts began to pass through a green area with carton trees, and bushes, and lions, and tigers, and…what looked like a fire-breathing T-rex. "That's right Rick, after that it is just a short hop back across the South River, and through the Boardwalk and back to the finish line!" The karts then turned back to the left, now heading back towards Claremont, passing by cartoon drawings of bright, gawdy casinos, behind which stood a cartoon drawing of a mobster tossing a coin in the air. The karts then reached the Claremont quad again, as checkered flags began to wave. "Well Vic, let’s get back to the action!" Suddenly everything was normal again, or as normal as seemingly being inside a video game could be and the teens were back in their vehicles. Lawerence stepped on his accelerator and pulled out onto the track, turning to the right to start along the first leg of the course.
  24. Hey Huck, always a good idea to run by an unusual stunted power with the GM running a thread. Here, I would say I am not certain how what you are describing as the source of her ability to fly would translate into that stunted power? But in any event, when I get home tonight I will be making another post (which I have started working on) which will have Quirk address Consuelo's problem. Also, for this thread, will be letting everyone use Reflex checks for things as we race, and will be looking to add opportunities for people to try to use their powers in creative ways to get advantages in the race, so, save HP for that.
