  1. Actually Kaede, it sort of depends on where you are placing the effect and who is in a position to see the location you place it. As you are targeting one of the pigs, I would assume it is the area right in front of where it is looking. Anyone not looking at that area is not effected at all (no need for the save). The Reflex save is for those looking at the area to look away and thus avoid the effect.
  2. Synapse gets a 25 on the reflex save, but only a 11 on the fort save, will use a HP and reroll for a 17
  3. Veronica Danger "First off, calling me a brat is not a good start in trying to get me to work with you." Veronica called back to the leader of the men that had been chasing after her. "But starting off by shooting at me rather than trying to talk was even worse. You have not given me any reason to trust you. I think I'll take my chances." As she finished, she put the tablet back into the hole in the air beside her and waved one hand as the golden mystical energy that formed the hole closed once more, sealing the tablet back away in the pocket dimension. The teenage Danger then stepped up toward J'onn as he suggested flying off and wrapped one arm around him as the other waived at the golden mystical dome. The mystical energy reformed into a longer, higher wall between them and the gunmen, giving them an opening to fly out. "Let's go!"
  4. Sri Kath'lana As the situation exploded into actual combat, Kath'lana remained calm as her armor’s systems scanned the various opponents as well as her present allies. Although having the henchmen for the large leader fire wildly within the establishment created a dangerous situation for bystanders, she could not help but agree with the one calling himself Space Ranger that Arryn Cia was the more immediate threat. As her armor recalibrated its weapon systems, the F'terrix raised her hands toward Cia. Bands of emerald green energy flashed out toward the towering opponent. Although they hit Cia, they failed to completely immobilize him, but did at least partially entangle the criminal, which would hopefully prevent him from rushing Space Ranger. The faceplate of the Star Knight’s helmet hid her annoyed expression at Corsairs little quip. Shifting slightly to keep the henchmen in view, Kath’lana simply replied, "try not to let your ego get inflated larger than it already is. I am here for other reasons."
  5. Synapse Dee could not help but agree with Klara's observation that they might be going about things the wrong way. <That might be true.> The Englishwoman responded mentally to everyone on the mental connection she had established. <For the moment at least, I want to make sure the one healing the others is out of the picture.> She then sent yet another blast of red psychic energy at the pig that she had focused on.
  6. One more time to try to drop Pig 3, so another DC 27 Will save for it.
  7. Kath'lana will try to fire her snare at Cia, she only got a 17, so not sure if that hit or not.
  8. Veronica Danger The incoming attacks impacted on the dome that Veronica had put up, the mystical energy rippling from the impacts. As the gunfire subsided, the dome was still in place and apparently unaffected by the assault. “Nice to meet you J’onn Shepard, Space Ranger.” Veronica replied with a smile. Looking back out at the remaining tomb raiders still outside the tome, Veronica focused on the leader. “Is this what you are looking for?” She yelled out as one hand reached up and traced a circle in the air as golden mystical energy sparked into existence creating a small opening in space. Reaching in the teenage Danger pulled out the tablet out of the pocket dimension and held it out in front of her. “You seem pretty confident that you will be able to get this, though things do not really seem to be going you way so far.”
  9. The dome does just fine getting 29, 28 and 30 for its toughness saves.
  10. Hey Kaede, interesting character concept, unfortunately, there are a lot of mechanical issues, and a few playability issues to consider. I do not have time to fully dive into all the mechanical issues, but here are some of the major ones. First, there are some cap issues to consider. If I read this right, this is a PL 10 character (right?). That means, in addition to the attack/damage and def/toughness caps, there are the other caps listed on page 25 of the core book. The most important of those for this discussion is that a PL 10 character cannot have any ability score be higher than 40 (regardless of the source). Attributes So, looking at the attributes, I am not sure where you are getting a Str 60 from? There is the base 10 and then +40 from growth, which equals 50. I am not seeing any other sources? So, that should be breaking the PL 10 cap of no ability score higher than 40. But based on the drawbacks in your alt form (more on that later), you built in a -10 Str, so the Str score should be 40. That fits with the various PL 10 caps (including the attack/damage tradeoff, sort of). Combat So, the main issue I see here is your +4 melee. That would only be in human form, as it would be -8 in Ship form (due to the penalty to atk/def from the ranks of Growth). Ultimately all the above means the grapple score in ship form needs to be adjusted, both for the -8 melee attack in ship form and lowering the max Str in ship form. Powers So, there is a lot with the Alternate Form power. For starters, I think the drawbacks buying back the Con and some Str actually should be applied to the Growth power within the array, not the array as a whole (the net result will balance out though). More significantly, Limited [Only Activates in Water] is not really a flaw. This is similar to how the increasing the Action for activating the power is handled. Because you only activate the power once and then are no longer bound by needing to be in water, it is not a true flaw, but a drawback. Maybe a -2 drawback. The Movement Arrays. So, both Swimming and Speed are already Move Action powers, so the drawback Action [Move Action] is not a valid drawback. As for Distracting, that is a Flaw, not a drawback, but is that something you really want on there? You realize that means that anytime you use the ability it takes away your dodge focus. For human form, that means your defense drops to 6, for ship form, your defense drops to -6! For the Combat Arrays, for starters, I will say that all the stacking that takes place gets rather convoluted and confusing. But that aside, here are some of the other issues. For what I will call the “Attack Arrays” (the ones with the Damage, Dazzle and Obscure powers), both Action [Full Action] and Distracting are flaws, not drawbacks (and the action flaw for Obscure only because you made it Independent). I do not think you need both of those (and see the above for the issues with Distracting). For the "Extra Arrays" (the ones adding the extras or added feats), you need to have the same action flaw on these as the power they are stacking onto, so Action [Full Action]. Playability: So, the other areas for concern for this concept is in playability, namely just how usable is the ship form in game. There are a lot of considerations that need to be made with this, for one, the ship form is longer than a football field (American football), and with Growth 20, at least 40 feet wide. This is a major restriction in a city, as even though it can walk out of the water, it will just narrowly be able to fit down most streets (and in some cities, there are streets that are not wide enough). But the bigger problem is once it starts down a street, it generally will be too big to turn down any side streets, being too long to make a turn at an intersection. In many cities, the ship is longer than a city block. Then there is just the nature of the ship. While the setting provides lots of leeway for superheroes having lethal technology they probably shouldn’t, a massive warship that walks through a city is not exactly something the government (at all levels) would have issues with. This might be a concept that works better in Space than in Freedom City/on Earth, as the scale generally allows more opportunity for the ship form to operate and having such firepower might not be looked at as questioningly. EDIT: Also, forgot to add, for the Burst Area extra that you add to the Rank 15 damage attack, that is not allowed for a PL 10. The only way it would work as a Rank 15 area effect is if it were targeted (ie needing an attack roll), which does not quite make sense for a large explosive shell.
  11. Doktor'd! Time to do some updates for my Star Knight Squire, not the least of which is promoting her to full Knight status. So for start the title of her sheet needs to change to Sri Kath'lana. Mostly there are updates to the fluff, but going to spend a bit of her unspent PP (but staying PL 10 for now): 2 PP for 2 ranks of Luck 8 PP for 32 Skill ranks, spent as follows: +4 ranks Acrobatics (up to 12) +4 ranks Diplomacy (up to 12) +4 ranks Kn: Galactic Lore (up to 10) +4 ranks Notice (up to 9) +8 ranks Sense Motive (up to 12) +8 ranks Survival (up to 12) That will leave her with 18 PP still unspent
  12. Very bad roll, so Kath'lana only has a 11
  13. Veronica Danger Veronica watched as the man came rocketing towards her with his jetpack, coming down to land near her before turning back towards the oncoming jeeps and motorcycles that remained. Grinning slightly the teenage Danger responded to his question. "French-American actually." She replied with her trace of a French accent. "I'm Veronica Danger, thanks for the help." Looking back out at the dust and approaching enemies, Veronica raised both her hands which glowed with golden mystical energy. Suddenly, a large transparent dome of similar golden mystical energy formed around her and the ray gun wielding young man. "It's set so you can fire out if you want." She stared as she kept focused on the approaching enemies through the glowing energy field.
  14. Okay, Veronica is going to wait for the remaining bad guys to get a bit closer, then she is going to throw up her Create Object around her and Space Ranger. She will stretch out her 12 5x5 foot cubes enough to make a large dome around the pair. It is selective, so she can allow Space Ranger to shoot back out.
  15. Sri Kath'lana As the scene began to unfold in the Last Outpost Cantina one figure that had been sitting in a shadowy corner had remained seated for a time, although green catlike eyes had watched the events playout. Sri Kath'lana of the Star Knights had come to the cantina as part of an investigation she had been conducting into some smuggling operations in the area that possibly had ties to one of the syndicates in Khanate space. The young F'terrix had only recently completed her apprenticeship and been promoted to full status as a Star Knight. Thus far, most of her official assignments had simply involved patrolling sectors of space. While Kath'lana appreciated the majestic beauty that could be found out in the vast expanse of space, there certainly was a part of her that wished for a bit more excitement at times. As the standoff appeared to be heading toward conflict, the young Star Knight stood up and moved out from behind the table she had been seated at. As she moved, the F'terrix activated her Star Knight armor, the green tinted armor quickly covering her light brown fur. Taking a couple of steps forward, the Star Knight spoke up to draw the attention of those involved in the stand-off. "It may not be his concern, but it is mine." Kath’lana stated simply, her voice having a slightly metallic tone due to the armor's filter. "This system is under the authority of the Lor Republic, and pursuant to Article Epsilon of the Citadel Compact and the 56th Amendment to the Kesteven Accords, the Star Knight Corps shares jurisdiction."
  16. Veronica Danger Seeing the bike's gas gauge hitting the redline, Veronica knew there was not much left to do but ditch the bike and prepare to fight off this group that had been chasing her. At least now she appeared to have an ally, even if only temporarily. Turning away from the wadi to help delay the pursuit of any of the vehicles still inside or on other side, the teenage Danger jumped over a small sand dune and speed away as fast as she could before she heard the motor sputter slightly. At that she began to break and skid the bike to a halt and leapt off, letting it fall to the ground. Bringing up her right hand in front of her another burst of golden energy shot out at the bike that was closest to her.
  17. Veronica is going to use the last bit of gas to try to get a bit more space between her and the tomb raiders before ditching the bike. Last chase roll: only gets a 27 Once off the bike she will blast at another motorcycle guy getting a 20 on the attack roll.
  18. NEW STUDENT Name: Bernadette O’Connell Codename: Multi-Girl Year: Sophomore Pronouns: She/Her Prospective Roommate: Someone that does not mind a crowd. Goal: Bernadette is at Claremont to help her learn to control her duplication ability. Before her powers manifested, she had been interested in trying to pursue a singing career. Now she is wondering if that is still possible given the emergence of her powers. Favorite Music: Besides generally listening to the standard Top 40 music, Bernadette has continued to keep up with the Irish Indie/Indie-Pop music scene. One of her current favorites from Ireland is Lauren Ann’s “Don’t Take It Out on Me.”
  19. Veronica Danger Veronica glanced at the instruments in front of her, noting that the bike’' fuel tank was just about dry. That was a complication that she did not really need now, but then a glance behind her reveled that at least the newcomer was not working with the thugs chasing her, as he used some sort of ray gun to freeze one of the jeeps in ice. Trying to use what little fuel she had left the teenage Danger opened the throttle once more and tried to put a bit more distance between her and the rest before the tank went drive. As she went, Veronica turned back and sent a blast of mystical energy at one of the men riding a motorcycle.
  20. Continuing the chase/evasion rolls: General drive check is a 45! Evasion check is a 38 She will fire a blast at one of the guys on a motorcycle now, getting a 17 on her attack roll.
  21. This will be for one of my open normal PL 10/150 PP slots.
  22. Multi-Girl Power Level: PL 11 (214/229PP) Trade-Offs: -1 Atk/+1 Dam (melee) / -1 Def/+1 Tough Unspent Power Points: 15PP In Brief: Teenage duplicating T-Baby rock star Alternate Identity: Bernadette O’Connell Birthplace: Dublin, Ireland Residence: Freedom City, New Jersey Base of Operations: Young Guardians’ Mansion Occupation: Rock Star Affiliation: Claremont Academy Alumna; Young Guardians; Multiplicity (her rock n’ roll band) Family: Sean O’Connell (father); Deirdre O’Connell (mother); Liam O’Connell (brother, older); Brendan O’Connell (brother, older) Description: Age: 19 (June 2005) Apparent Age: 19 Gender: Female Ethnicity: Caucasian Height: 5’ 9” Weight: 130 lbs Eyes: Green Hair: Red Bernadette is a tall, attractive teenager with an athletic build and bright green eyes. Her thick red hair goes down to the middle of her back. She is rather pale skinned, with slight freckles on her checks and nose, as well on her shoulders and upper back. Her clothing style is generally typical of a teenage girl her age, though she tends to favor outfits that are more form fitting. Since her band has been growing its fan base, she has taken to often wearing dark jeans (often with tears in them) and black leather jackets. Since the Young Guardians reunited, Bernadette has begun wearing her own costume, a skintight, fully bodysuit (with gloves). The costume is primarily green, with large sections of orange and white (for the Irish flag), with a green utility belt and domino mask. History: Born in Dublin, Ireland, the youngest of three children, Bernadette’s family immigrated to the United States when she was eight years old. For most of her life, Bernadette seemed just your average Irish/Irish-American girl, perhaps a little stronger, faster or tougher than other girls her age, but still nothing too out of the ordinary. As she grew older, the young redhead naturally drifted to sports, first football (soccer) and later focusing on lacrosse. Three years ago, Bernadette accompanied her lacrosse team for a tournament in Freedom City. The team was at a game in Kingston when the 2018 Terminus invasion began. Thankfully, both teams and bystanders were all safely evacuated from the area, but not before being exposed to some of the energy from the Terminus. Unknown to Bernadette, this exposure awoke something that had long been dormant within her. Over a decade before Bernadette was born, her father had been a merchant marine aboard a cargo vessel docked in Freedom City when the 1993 Terminus invasion had occurred. Her father’s exposure to Terminus energy led to Bernadette being born with a latent connection to the Terminus. Her exposure during the 2018 invasion activated that connection. For the next few years, the activation this connection was generally unnoticeable. But toward the end of her Freshman year in high school, Bernadette had an unexpectedly late “growth spurt,” growing several more inches. At the same time, Bernadette continued to get stronger and stronger. Then, right after the end of the school year, Bernadette was out at a mall with several friends. It had seemed just another mall trip when Bernadette’s duplication power inadvertently activated. This caused Bernadette to panic and try to get away from her friends before they saw her with her duplicate. This just led to her activating more duplicates, which generally just created a bit of a chaotic and confusing scene at the mall. Headmistress Summers learned about the incident (generally caught on the mall’s surveillance cameras) and reached out to Bernadette’s family, who were struggling to figure out how to deal with their daughter’s sudden abilities. As a result, Bernadette began attending Claremont Academy in the fall of her Sophomore year. While at Claremont, she soon was caught up in the conflict between several of her classmates (Charlie Pratten, Nevermore II; Luke Landers, Nightscale; Muirne Sceadusangere, Shadowborne, Leon Moore, Paper, and others) against Sebastian Shields (Casanova) and his New Young Freedom. She was also placed on an intermural squad with fellow sophomores Neko Masume and Owain Celliwig (the Copper Knight). Over the years at Claremont Bernadette was part of the school’s music program, further developing her already strong singing voice while she debated her future. For a time, she continued to be uncertain about belonging in the superhero world or the possibility of ever making any sort of career out of her singing. During her time at Claremont, she became attracted to both Charlie and Owain, however Charlie disappeared from the school before his Senior year, leading Bernadette to focus more on her singing while still trying to continue the team Charlie had started with Leon, Luke and Murine. In August before the start of her Senior year, Bernadette was contacted by a Claremont alumna, Summer Sands, a talented guitar player who wanted Bernadette to join her in a music competition in Boston. The pair handily won the contest, and after a bizarre adventure in a musical dimension, they decided to form a band. When Bernadette returned for her final year at Claremont, she and Summer soon had found a bass player and drummer and started their band, Multiplicity. They began making recordings of cover songs which they posted on various social media and offered for download on various music services. Soon they were playing at local clubs around the city. Having become roommates with Neko (who had built a rather successful social media business) for their Senior year, Bernadette eventually enlisted her assistance with marketing their band. Soon enough, their following grew by leaps and bounds, including overseas, leading to their first overseas show in Tokyo, Japan. The band’s following has continued to grow since, as they have been working on an album of original songs to go along the covers they had been preforming. Additionally, just before the Winter Break of Bernadette’s last year at Claremont, Charlie returned to Freedom City and uncovered some plot by Sebastian Sheilds and those helping him. Charlie reassembled the Young Guardians, along with two new members, the young android, Pol Rothstein-Fraser (Shift) and an undead young woman, Viktorya Steinman (Ghule). Together, they managed to stop Sheilds and defeat a resurrected Conqueror Worm. After that, the Young Guardians officially reformed, operating out of a refurbished mansion in Bayview funded by the Raven family. Not wanting to miss this second opportunity with Charlie, Bernadette soon let him know about her feelings for him and was relieved to learn he had similar feelings for her and the two began a romantic relationship. Personality & Motivation: Growing up with two older brothers, Bernadette learned to stick up for herself. As a result she developed an outgoing and sometimes aggressive personality, which has often served her well in athletics. With those she considers friends, Bernadette is generally good natured, caring, and protective. She has made a number of good friends at Claremont, both fellow members of the Young Guardians and others. While certainly one to want to have fun, coming from a blue-collar family, Bernadette grew up with a strong work ethic, and can get very focused and serious when she needs to. Powers & Tactics: Bernadette has learned to fully control summoning her duplicates and often has several active at once around campus or the Young Guardian’s mansion. She and her duplicates have learned to work well together (something she regularly practices with lacrosse drills with multiple duplicates active at once). While at Claremont Academy, Bernadette had the opportunity to undergo martial arts/boxing training to help improve her hand-to-hand skills, combined with her increased coordination, she has become a much more effective fighter than when she began at the school. Additionally, after starting to spend time with other members of the Young Guardians over the years has led to her improving her stealth. Other than increased strength, dexterity, constitution and durability, Bernadette’s powers allow her to run much faster than a normal human and leap considerable distances with ease. But her primary power is the ability to summon duplicates of herself which have similar strength, durability and speed. Bernadette is able to use her duplicates in a number of ways, including unleashing a number of duplicates to deliver targeted melee attacks on all enemies within a forty foot radius of her when she activates her power. She is also able to work with a number of duplicates to tackle an opponent and bury them under a pile of duplicates. Working together, Bernadette and several of her duplicates are capable of lifting approximately 40 tons. Complications: T-Baby: Bernadette’s powers originate from the Terminus incursion of 1993 and 2018, there are those that are frightened or hate so call “T-Babies.” Fame: Bernadette and her band have started to gain a level of fame, not just in Freedom City, but around the world. As such, it is not uncommon for people to recognize her now, which can cause problems. 23. Veronica Danger After turning away momentarily from the blinding flash of light in front of her, Veronica glanced back forward to see the figure that appeared out of the light. The teenage Danger had no way of knowing whether or not this person was working with those chasing her or had some other agenda. Turning sharply to the right, the teen increased the throttle to get an extra burst of speed as she turned toward the rim of the wadi and ran the motorbike up the curved edge, leaping into the air for a moment before landing back up on the edge and turning back to the left to continue away from her pursuers. As she did she continued swerving to avoid the continuing gunfire and also turned back once again to send another mystical blast at the lead jeep. But thrown off by the possible new complication, Veronica's aim was off again and the blast impacted harmlessly on the desert floor.
