  1. @Electra So Theology/Philosophy is not the most on point skill, but looking at the ruins, Danica sees a lot of similarity to Greco/Roman architecture. It seems a lot more like Greek or Roman temples, not exactly a fortification that would protect or contain something. But, it is possible things could be different in the under ground portions.

Veronica Danger "Oh, ye of little faith Micah." Veronica said with a good-natured grin, which only widened as Davyd spoke up with conspiracy theories intended to be both exceedingly wild, yet also entirely possible given the unusual situations Claremont students sometimes found themselves in, with Lulu joining in on the ideas. Looking over to Liz, the teenage Danger gave her friend a wide smile. "I will take you up on that offer Elizabeth." Stepping up to the door, Veronica swiped her Danger International ID card on a reader off to the right side and the lock clicked open. Opening the door, the teenager led the others into the warehouse. Stepping into the only dimly lit building, the teens’ eyes took a few moments to try to adjust, only making out some shadowy shapes within the warehouse at first. Veronica stepped off to one side to allow the others to move in. "Whenever you are ready with the lighting Elizabeth." She stated to the other teen. When Liz’s lights sprung up around the room, they reveled that the interior of the warehouse had been set up as a garage, with worktables and various tool boxes spaced throughout. Taking up one part of the space was a mini cooper, or at least what appeared to be a mini cooper. It certainly had the hood symbol and general shape, but it was a bit larger, sleeker, and clearly had been modified in a number of ways. As short distance away was a large heavy duty truck, with a raised cab and what appeared to be cargo space in the back. And nearby a land rover. As the group took in the three vehicles, it became apparent that they were in the process of undergoing some sort of work, as portions of each appeared to be taken apart and there were a number of parts spread out on benches near each of the vehicles. Next to the car was a cart with what appeared to be an engine on it, although it looked rather different than most engines any of the gathered teens had seen before. "So, what do you think?" Veronica asked as she finally switched on the interior lights and then took a few steps forward towards the vehicles and turned back to look at her friends.
  4. Veronica If Eira had been expecting some sort of rise out of Veronica with her inflection and widened smirk there was no noticeable trace of one. Unlike many of the other students the robotic teen had turned her spite on last year, if there was one thing the teenage Danger had in abundance it was self confidence. What the Swedish teenager might think of her was not important. "Good to see you Eira." Veronica replied with a friendly tone and a slight smile. She had just been about to make her way to see if Danica was already in the room they would be sharing when a new student approached, commenting on the volume of Eira's music, among other things. "Whether Eira's music was too loud or not, making a veiled threat to her things is not a good first look." The teenage Danger stated in a rather flat tone as she looked at the younger student. "How about we start fresh. I am Veronica Danger, welcome to Claremont." She stated, using the magic in one of the gems on her amulet (which was under her T-shirt, to give a boost to her diplomacy.

Bayview, Freedom City, New Jersey Sunday September 6, 2020 1:34 PM During the slightly controlled chaos of the day before, Veronica had reached out to several of her friends from the Senior class at Claremont about wanting to talk with them about a new project she had in the works. So the teenage Danger (well, really Prudence) had arranged for a van to pick up Lulu Beaumont, Micah Roebuck, Davyd Palahniuk and Elizabeth Grey at Campus and bring them down to a small warehouse building a few blocks from Bayview Mall. The parking lot around the warehouse was fenced in, an electronic gate allowing entry in. Veronica was already there, standing near the side of the building and her parked DangerCycle. As might be expected, she was dressed in her typical cargo shorts, T-shirt with light linen shirt over it and the well-worn hiking boots. "Hey, thanks for coming!" Veronica said in greeting as the other four Claremont students exited the van in the parking lot next to the warehouse. "Sorry I have been a bit vague about what I am working on, but I figured it would be much easier to just show you." She added with a small grin as she led the group over toward a door beside a larger garage door.
  6. Synapse If Dee was surprised by the sudden appearance of the teenager beside her she did not show it, instead she turned to regard Maggie with a small smile. Normally the Englishwoman might have rebuffed any offer to help, but at present, she was more than willing to accept. "Well thank you." She replied in her refined English accent. "I probably could have gotten well enough along, but happy to accept some help when offered." Dee held out the handle of the suitcase to Maggie, letting go when then teen had it in hand. "I believe I am looking for room 403."
  7. Synapse The chime for the elevator sounded as the doors slide open. Out of the elevator stepped Dee Farrington, who was moving slower than normal being seven months pregnant. The Englishwoman was in a pair of jeans with an elastic waist, which was covered by red long-sleeve shirt which went down to just below her hips. She had a rolling suitcase which she was pulling behind her as she spotted Murine further down the hall and started over towards her teenage charge. "Bloody brilliant of them to put her on the top floor." She muttered to herself as she took in the scene on the dorm floor. Having been to more than her fair share of English boarding schools growing up, the scene was not exactly new to Dee. Even the teenage girl directing the movers was not unusual, and Dee had certainly spent far more time than she would have liked around other girls that exhibited the same entitled attitude.
  8. Veronica Danger Veronica turned to the sound of her friend's voice, a wide smile coming to her face at the sight of the Southern teen. "Hi Louise!" She said in greeting, her slight French accent deepening as it always did when she pronounced Lulu's full name. "Yes, just arrived. You as well?" She asked, noting the suitcases floating along behind the redheaded teen. "Good to see you again Miss Beaumont." Prudence replied with a small nod as she briefly looked up from her tablet before going back to studying Veronica's calendar for the next week on the screen.
  9. Kord Dormitories, Third Floor Claremont Academy, Freedom City, New Jersey Saturday, September 5th, 2020 As was typically the case on move-in day at Claremont Academy, the hallway on the third floor of the Kord Dormitories was a rather chaotic scene. Parents and students made their way along the hallway, usually with boxes, suitcases or duffle bags in hand. But one pair moved through the slightly crowded hallway with casual easy, neither laden down with any large bags or boxes. In the lead was Veronica Danger, who was dressed in her typical attire, a tight T-shirt (red today) over which she wore a thin lien Khaki short sleeve shirt that was left unbuttoned, black cargo shorts and a pair of well worn-in hiking boots with thick socks. The attractive teenager did not even have a backpack as she walked along, reluctantly listening to the figure trailing behind her. Veronica's long brunette hair was braided into a ponytail which went down to her waist, a much longer length than it had been just a few a few months ago at the end of the last school year when it had only gone down to her shoulders. Following behind the teenage Danger was a young woman in her mid-to-late twenties, dressed in finely tailored business attire and wearing a pair of round glasses. For those returning students, Veronica and Janus' personal assistant Prudence was a familiar sight, regularly shadowing Danger cousins. As was more often the case, Prudence had a small tablet in one hand which she was studying as she followed Veronica. "I have managed to keep your schedule clear for the rest of the day, but tomorrow morning you have brunch at Danger Manor." "Thank you Prudence." Veronica responded with her slight French accent and the slightest roll of her eyes. She then came to a stop in front of her room, looking at the door for a brief moment. It was going to feel a bit odd not rooming with her cousin as she had over the last two years.
  10. GM The pair of teens made their way up the crumbling stairway to the upper level of the ruins' exterior, this time the trip being a bit slower due to Danica's slower pace. As they reached the column lined entrance to the side of the towering rock spire that rouse above them, Heroditus was this time able to more closely study the columns, seeing that they did indeed have writing carved onto them. The writing was recognizable as Atlantean, but very old. Heroditus has seen similar before, from artifacts that dated back to before the sinking. Between the slight unfamiliarity with the old writing and the damage to portions of it, it was difficult for the Atlantean teen to make out exactly what it said. But he was fairly certain it contained some sort of warning that seemed to reference something placed within the structure built into the rockspire. As Heroditus studied the writing, Danica could see the nearby entrance that led into the dark underground. A damaged wall partially blocked the entrance, but it was not anything the pair could not climb over.
  11. GM Soon enough the trio were busy working on the model of the solar system for Lawrence’s school project while they continued to eat. Lawrence and Adam came up with a reasonable means of scaling the model given the distances involved and the fact that most of the planets would be too small to see when in scale with any reasonably sized Sun. After some time, Lawrence had gone back upstairs to get some more supplies for the project, leaving Lulu and Adam alone for a few moments in the kitchen with the various planets they had worked on so far lying out on the table in front of them. Then an audible *POP* sounded in the kitchen and Lulu suddenly found the upside down face of what appeared to be a ten year old boy just a few feet in front of her. "You don't look like a ‘Lawrence." The blond haired boy stated as he floated upside down in the air above the kitchen table, a hand on his chin and mouth, his impish features appearing deep in though while studying Lulu’s face. There was another *POP* and the boy’s face disappeared from in front of Lulu’s and he reappeared over in front of Adam. This time he was right side up, hovering cross legged in the air as he studied Adam with the same intensity. "You could be a 'Lawrence,' but you do not look like a 'temporal lynchpin."
  12. GM The massive flying creature seemed a bit confused by the sudden reduction in size of Danica's shell, tilting its head a moment to study the now much smaller shell. It seemed as if it might be preparing to strike again when the freezing bolt from Heroditus' Atlantean weapon struck it on the side of its long neck. Recoiling from the freezing attack with a loud screech, the creature did not seem seriously harmed by the attack, turning slightly in the direction the attack had come from while it let out another ear piercing shriek. But it appeared to have little interest in facing more cold attacks or trying to figure out what had happened to it intended prey as it raised its massive wings and began to lift back into the air once more, turning away back towards the towering rock spires in the distance. As the creatures occasional shrikes grew faint in the distance, the area around the ancient Atlanetan ruins became still once more…
  13. That is certainly a hit! But the Quetzacoaltus gets a 29 for its toughness save! But still, it is not too interested in this stinging cold and decides to fly away for easier prey.
  14. Veronica Danger Veronica considered Micha and Astrid’s statements about what they could do to try to keep back some rain as well as their concerns about possibly causing a major disruption to the local weather system. "Well, I am not too concerned about wind, that was more a concern for Ben's scent tracking." The teenage Danger responded. "But the rain is a bigger problem. Perhaps the two of you could divert it a few dozen kilometers to the south? That should help preserve the tracks a bit and not necessarily cause a major problem with the weather system." She asked. Removing her heavy winter jacket, with a slight gesture Veronica opened a small hole in the air into which she tossed the jacket before gesturing the hole closed once more. Slipping back on her backpack, she began walking in the direction she had determined the scientist’s tracks had been heading as she began to roll up the sleeves of the thermal shirt she had worn under her jacket. At Micha's questions, Veronica seemed in thought for a moment as she started moving off in the direction she had indicated at least one of the scientists seemed to be heading. "Yes, I should be able to come up with something that could help us figure out where Ben might be. Might even be able to work something out as we try to find our missing scientists." "As for the hazards that exist here," the teenage Danger added, "well, as Astrid mentioned, there are a number of settlements from ancient Earth civilizations here, including Romans, who are generally not hostile, Incans, who can be a bit more hostile and others. But the greater danger is likely to come from what Astrid mentioned, the…." Veronica's response was interrupted by the sound of something large moving through the thick trees to one side further up the clear path the teens were on. Only moments later a large creature emerged from the tree line, moving slowly onto the path as it headed towards the opposite tree line. The creature was easily thirty feet long and likely a dozen or more feet high at the tallest point. There were rows of plates rising up from its back and at the end of a long tail were several dangerous looking spikes. "Prehistoric animals." Veronica finally managed to finish as she had stopped moving forward to watch the massive dinosaur that had moved into view. "Obviously that includes dinosaurs, but there are numerous other prehistoric animals here from a wide range of eras. While the carnivorous animals can pose the greatest threat, even the herbivores can be dangerous."
  15. Doktor'd! Okay, going to spend the 19 points Veronica currently has. With this she is going to drop her Gadget pool and use some of the points to create a more traditional magical array (25 points from the Gadget pool +11 unspent points). She is going to use the last remaining 8 unspent points for a new smaller variable pool for small cantrips (just 1 rank of a variable pool).

  17. GM Turning back to the ruins, Heroditus started up the nearest partially crumbled stairway to the upper entrance to the Atlantean building. As the teen reached the top and started towards the column lined entrance that led into the towering rock spire in front of them, he spotted what appeared to be carvings on the columns, but with the approaching flying creature he passed them by for the moment and moved into the somewhat sunlit entry way. A damaged wall partially blocked the entrance, but Heroditus was easily able to make his way over some of the rubble and further into the tunnel beyond, which continued into darkness beyond the extent of the limited sunlight able to enter the hall. But as he stood at the edge of the darkness, Heroditus thought he could sense a trace of lingering magic, similar to what he sensed in the portal, but far more recent. Outside, Danica had found her binoculars and was studying the massive flying creature headed in her direction. Now that she had a good look at it, she was pretty sure this was not the same as what had been uncovered back at the archeological dig sponsored by Danger International. It was considerably larger and what she could recall of the bones did not seem in any way similar to the build of this live creature. It was not long before the Claremont student no longer had any need of her binoculars, as the creature continued to draw closer, eventually coming to land on the ground just beside her shell. Tucking its wings in, the creature walked on its two legs and the small hands of its wings, moving closer to the shell. Looking out from her shell, Danica saw the creature towering above her, taller than any giraffe, with a sharp looking beak that was longer than she was tall. The creature let out a loud shriek, then slammed its long beak down on Danica’s shell with tremendous force. Inside the shell, the teenage saw a few cracks appear, as the shell took a bit of damage from the attack….
  18. Sigh, I am tired, posted IC post here by mistake
  19. So, the Quetzacoatlus pecks at Chelone’s shell, Damaging it!
  20. @Cubismo @KnightDisciple Thanks for the posts. I am likely going to be offline for the next couple of days. Will try to get a post in for Veronica on Tuesday or Wednesday.
  21. I was hoping Cube would get a post in. If not, I will post tonight hopefully.
  22. Veronica Danger While Astrid took to the air, waving between the layers of jungle canopy along the way, and Micah began scanning the area for a sign of Ben and testing the air, Veronica retraced their steps slightly, crouching down to peer at the damp ground. When Astrid returned to the ground, the teenage Danger looked back to her two teammates. "There is no sign of Ben's footprints, so he was never here with us." She stated. "But I am certain he was with us in the portal. But something happened as we entered, it became unstable and I believe it began to close." She stood up and looked off down the natural path to the shadowy jungle along it. "I think he was brought to another location here when the portal began to close. But whether that was a few hundred meters away or half a continent away I cannot say." She stated as she began to move around the area some more, scanning the ground as she went. When Astrid offered her theory on where they could be, Veronica glanced over at the other girl for a moment, giving a small nod. "I have heard stories of the Lost World before, the Atoms have been here a number of times. From what I have heard there are a couple of relatively stable gateways from our world to there, as well as a few instances of random ones that have cropped up in various places around the world. So it certainly seems to fit that this could be the Lost World." Coming to a halt Veronica knelt down again, studying the ground. "“At least one of the missing scientists was here." She stated, her hand tracing a print in the soft ground. The teen then looked up and towards one of the directions along the semi-cleared area. "He appears to have headed in that direction." Looking back to Micha and Astrid, she added. "If this is indeed the Lost World, Doctors Schneider and Warren are in even more danger than just being lost in an unknown jungle." As Micha mentioned the likelihood of rain approaching, Veronica looked over to the other teen. "Do you think you might be able to hold that off for a bit? I would not want to risk losing any tracks to the weather." Standing back up, Veronica slipped off her backpack as she unzipped her heavy jacket to take it off. "I think we should continue to see if we can find the missing scientists, or at least some clearer indication if anything happened to them, then turn to trying to find Ben. With his ability to camouflage himself, Ben should be alright for at least a little while."

  24. So, Astrid does not really have much additional insight into Ben not being there. While she still was unable to see the portal, after the experience of passing through it, she recalls accounts she read from some former Claremont students who described a similar experience when traveling to another dimension. Those students had been part of arranged trips to the Lost World, an Earth-like world in another dimension where they encountered not only dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals, but also several archaic Earth cultures and primitive humans.
  25. GM As the two Claremont teens adjusted to their current situation, each began to take in the area around them in rather different ways. Studying the architecture of the structure before them, Danica realized while it did resemble Greco/Roman architecture, it seemed slightly different as well. It also became clear that it was in a state of disrepair, with plants and vines growing over parts and even parts of some of the columns having crumbled down. She then turned her attention to the jungle that lay a short distance away, studying it for a few moments. It was not like any jungle she had seen, except perhaps in movies. There were towering trees with high canopies, with thick undergrowth beneath them. While there appeared to be some open spaces leading into the jungle, none of them appeared to be purposely cleared, so it was questionable how much the pair could rely upon those spaces to get them very far through the thick undergrowth, which meant it could be a difficult trek if they tried to traverse the jungle. The teenager was rather certain she would be able to find food and water for them if they set off. While she believed she could navigate well enough, it was harder to say how long that might be the case once they got into the jungle where it was no longer possible to see distant landmarks or even maintain a good view of the sky. Heroditus looked up at the clearly Atlantean structure as he mind continued to process what he had seen when they had been transported here. While he was certain it was Atlantean, there as little else the teen could tell about it, at least from the outside. It was clearly very old, given its dilapidated state, but just how old was harder to say. The Atlantean teen’s mind then turned to fully analyzing what he had seen of the magic that had transported the pair here. He was very certain they had been transported to the same dimension which their teammates had been, but the chaotic surge that had occurred had certainly deposited he and Danica in a different location in this dimension. Just how far apart the two groups of Claremonters might be was a much harder question to answer. Heroditus had been able to learn that the portal as they had been drawn through it. He was very certain that it had been the result of intentional attempts to create a path from here to Earth and had been done some time ago. But troublingly, he was certain that it had not been done by Atlantean magic, but something more tainted and dark. As Danica continued to take in their surroundings, she was looking back towards the rocky hills behind them and saw what at first appeared to be large birds flying around the high cliffs along those hills. But as the teen studied them a bit longer, she realized they were actually much further away than they had first appeared, meaning they were far larger than she had initially thought. Spotting one that was heading in their direction, Danica could see it appeared to have a long beak and neck, but also quickly realized, it was no bird. It was also about as large as a small airplane, and headed right toward the pair….
