Climbing down from the rooftop she was on slowed Crimson Tiger down a little bit, so by the time she had moved stealthily across the dark street, she saw the four toughs were already inside the store. Through the glass door and large windows, she could see one was in front of the counter, a handgun pointed at the shop keeper. At least two of the others had spread through the store among the aisles. The one she could see was knocking things off some of the shelves as he walked by. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jack easily ducked into an ally and changed into his costume. As it turned out the ally he had gone into lead around to the back of the store the thugs had gone into, making it easy for him to move around in the shadows of the ally to the back door of the store. The door was locked, but even through it he could hear the sounds of yelling and some crashing noise from inside the store.

Yeah, your right, sorry

Well, most likely this would be an Alternate Form. I am sure we can come up with some suggestions on how to build that. As I just recommended to another new player, Claremont is a great place to have a PC....but it is drawing close to the end of the present academic year. To get the most out of the three years a PC can be there, might be worth waiting to brining them in in the Fall? (I know it is some time to wait )

Goanna gets a 33 on his toughness save, so he is fine there. And he gets a 22 on the Reflex save to avoid the Dazzle. ? That brings up Octoman. You get a new Fort save Grumble, at +1 this time. @Grumblefloof

Yes, lets go with that!

I will try to get to working out any issues with the mechanics in a bit. Feel free to join us on Discord: https://www.freedomplaybypost.com/discord-tab/ Often a quicker way to talk about things and get questions answered.

Missed the edit. Like I said, we can have her in threads with Vanguard till the Fall.

Okay, going to split discussion between fluff and mechanics now, this will relate to the fluff. For the changes to the background, maybe something along the lines of: Eventually a team of archeologist uncovered her, and her spell was broken of means unknown to both the researchers and Muirne. She found herself in a strange new world of technology and heroes. Murine's unusual return came to the attention of the Ministry of Powers and the UK superteam Vanguard, who took the teenager in to help her adjust to the modern world. After a year of learning modern English and some of the skills necessary to get by in this modern world, Vanguard made arrangements for Murine to travel across the Atlantic to attend a school for super powered teenagers. Take as much as you like or rework it some. Happy to bounce ideas on how to adjust things. But there is another idea for your consideration. Claremont is a great part of this setting, given the high level of activity that tends to occur there. However, because our site operates under the real passage of time (ie after a year in the real world, our characters are all a year older, minus powers that make aging not a thing), Claremont is also a finite window, with PCs getting three academic years as students. Right now, we are drawing rather close to the end of the current academic year. You are of course more than welcome to have Muirne start at Claremont as soon as she gets approved and active, but it likely she will only get involved in a handful of threads before the current academic year ends. Instead, perhaps consider have her remain in the UK until the Fall and the start of the next academic year? She could get involved in threads with Vanguard until starting Claremont in the Fall. Will write about the mechanics issues in a bit.

Will temporarily lock this later once the player moves things back over to the thread in Character Building to hammer some things out.
-
Also, re: the second post in the character bank. Just copy the sheet back over to here to work on. Once you do I can lock the other post in the bank and unlock when we hammer more things out and you are ready to copy over the updated character sheet.
-
Sorry I did not get a message to you about me moving the sheet quicker. With regard to the sword/shield/armor, the thing about equipment is that a GM can mess with them (ie break them or something) at any time and you would not earn a hero point for that set back. Even if you do not make them truly unusual (ie magic) it may still be worth it to make them Devices, just to avoid that possibility. Costs a bit more, but could be worth it.

@Cubismo Cube, there is one problem. The last time Astrid used Porrklubba she had it on the Strike+Dazzle already (to strike the Rhino). So you cannot teleport without using the one array switch to change to that. If you want to fly over and hit him (she is on the opposite side of the ice wall in any event, I should probably do one of my maps here soon )

Hello Kaede Kimura, welcome to the site! Looking things over, I think Muirne needs a bit of rework, so I have moved things over to the Character Building forum for them to get hammered out. First, regarding the fluff, looks good and no true “issues,” though there are some considerations you might want to consider. It is not too uncommon for there to be refugees from other dimensions, planets or even other times. As such, there are a number of supports in place that can help those such as Muirne. For one, the Freedom League has programs to help provide some support. So, while I can understand the interest in the Struggling Complication, there are ways she could have at least have a comfortable amount of funds. In addition, given she awoke in the present day UK, it is very likely she came to the attention of the Ministry of Powers and the superteam Vanguard, which is the main UK superteam (of which one of my PCs is a member). So, might be something to consider working into your background, as they could have helped Muirne in the initial adjustment to life in the modern world and helped get her connected with Claremont. Happy to talk about that more if you like. As to the mechanics. There are a number of things, but the first and biggest, is we recently put in place a rule that Claremont characters start out as PL 8. So Murine could be PL 8 and built on 150 PP (thus using one of your PL 10 character slots with the full 150 PP budget, just built to a lower PL). So this is likely to have some impact on the other issues. For her Stats, they are fine, but you probably want to move away from the odd numbers for Int and Wis as they add nothing and there are better use for those points. I think there needs to be some work on your combat stats, as from what I can see (and it is not entirely clear), it does not appear Muirne is meeting combat caps. This might work itself out with the need to reduce her to PL 8 for Claremont, but I still need more information. Like what does her Plate Mail add to her toughness? That should be listed in the Toughness save, like: Toughness: +6 (+1 Con, +2 Defensive Roll, +3 Plate Mail), or whatever it is. For Feats, one rank of Attractive should be plenty. That feat does not determine how attractive a character is, it is just flawed ranks of Diplomacy/Bluff, and can cause problems will skill caps. So I would drop it to one rank. For the Equipment, she likely does not need the mulitool or flashlight to be purchased. For the “communicator” we have house rules over equipment that is used for communication devices. If she wants something that is basically a cellphone, that cannot be used in combat, then that is free, no EP cost. If she wants something a bit more, it has to be bought as the Communication power in a piece of equipment (see my character Velocity below and her Freedom League communicator). As for the sword and plate mail, we need to know what they do. But I would also suggest not having them as equipment but perhaps instead devices (perhaps they became imbued with magic?) Also, not sure what the shield is providing her, so probably not something you need to pay points for, and if it does something, again maybe better as a device? For the Shadowbeast form, I think there needs to be some significant rework on this as well, at the moment I do not quite have some time to dive into that one, but wanted to get the conversation started on all the above at least.

Veronica Danger Veronica had been about to callout to Danica when the girl guided her Segway towards Goanna and Thunderbird. But the other teen had managed to maneuver her way into the thick of things, provide Thunderbird extra protection against the massive lizard-man, and then speed her way back out. It was just moments later that the teenage Danger had partially shielded her eyes as Thunderbird had unleashed a powerful barrage of lightening onto Goanna. Like Artificer, she was a bit unnerved that the villain again all but shrugged off the barrage. But there was no time to dwell on that as events continued to unfold in rapped secession, from Goanna leaping forward to bite Octoman to Artificer creating the wall of ice to separate the two and the attack on Artificer by Fearmaster. Having previously taken a moment to rework her magical spell, Veronica decided it was time to get back into the fight. Rushing forward the teen quickly sprinted around the wall Artificer had created, moving so she was over behind him and had a clear view of Fearmaster, her hands glowing with arcane energy as she went. Once she had him in sight, Veronica quickly brought up her right hand and a bolt of golden arcane energy shot forth to strike the villain. But much like his much larger and tougher accomplice, Fearmaster managed to take the hit with little more than a grunt.

Veronica is going to move up around behind Artificer so she can see around the ice wall and blast Fearmaster. She gets a 17 on the first roll, so I will use one of her HP to reroll, getting a 24 this time, which hits Fearmaster. He has a DC 24 toughness save and gets a 11, yeah, will reroll (HP back to Veronica), getting a 15, but with the reroll that becomes a 25, so he is fine. Ms. Thursday is up! @Cubismo

GM The wall of ice created by Artificer sprang up just at the right angle to force Goanna backward from Octoman after delivering his powerful bite. The massive lizard-man again hissed in anger as the ice wall now separated him from Octoman. Back where he had been dropped moments earlier, Fearmaster coughed a few times as he regained his breath before pulling something out from inside his long coat and bringing it up to cover his face. He then rouse to his feet, the white hockey mask now in place as he fixed his gazed on Artificer. "Let us see how well you fare against Fearmaster!" He extended both arms out in front of him and Artificer felt a wave of sub-sonic vibrations wash over him similar to what was being emitted by the device he and Veronica had dealt with. But unlike the other which had sought to instill fear in those it contacted, Artificer felt this attack tingle through his nervous system.

Well, Fearmaster finally gets to do something! He will pick his sorry self up off the ground and then hit Artificer with a Stun effect (rank 5). It is a perception range attack, so auto-hits. A DC 15 Wills save against the Stun for Artificer. This brings up: Round Six 28 Veronica Danger (unharmed) 4 HP 20 Ms. Thursday (unharmed) 4 HP 17 Octoman (unharmed, slowed) 4 HP 14 Chelone (unharmed, fatigued) 3 HP 12 Thunderbird (unharmed) 5 HP (Has Rank 10 Turtle Sell around him) 11 Goanna (bruised 2) 9 Rhinoceros (bruised 3, calmed) 8 Artificer (unharmed, fatigued) 0 HP (Will save vs Stun effect pending) 6 Fearmaster II (unharmed) Veronica's Gem Variable Pool: AF: Ranged 2; AF: Melee 2; Acrobatics 8 (up to +19) Veronica's Magic Pool: 1) Immunity: Fear (Extras: range to touch (+1), Burst Area (+1); Feats: Progression: Area +4 (125’ radius burst) [7 PP] 2) Blast 9 [18 PP]

GM Goanna had just managed to side step the ink that Octoman shot at him, snarling as he did so. But before the large lizard-man could do anything else, Thunderbird had rose back up into the air and hit the villain with two powerful lightning bolts. The first one Goanna seemed to weather will no real ill effects. But when struck by the second he let out a grunt of pain, hunching over slightly as smoke rose from his scaly hide. But that lasted only a moment as he stood back fully upright, letting out a loud roar that echoed across the zoo grounds. Glancing down at the man Octoman had released, the lizard-man snarled, "Get your worthless self up off the ground and do something!" With that he then leapt forward towards Octoman. But as he landed near the teen, Goanna did not try to grab him or claw him, instead his powerful jaws stretched wide and he delivered a powerful bite to the teenage.

Okay, Goanna is going to move forward toward Octoman and bite him, hitting with a 22. That is a DC 22 Fort save for Octoman vs. the Paralyze attack from the bite. @Grumblefloof With the Rhino calmed, Artificer is up! @Dr Archeville

The Fens, Freedom City, New Jersey Tuesday March 17, 2020, 9:12 PM A light rain was falling on Freedom City this evening, making the cool night feel just a bit colder. Out in the dark streets of the Fens, the rain just added to the oppressive, downtrodden feeling that seemed to emanate from every dark alleyway. But from Jack Sounder, the Fens was the perfect place to seek to make amends for the mistakes of his past. Strolling down the sidewalk of the mostly deserted streets, Jack took in a deep breath, trying his best to take in whatever smells were not being washed away by the rain. Turning a corner, the former boxer and mob muscle spotted a group of four young men exiting a dark sedan further up the street. The four men moved with a cocky swagger that was all too familiar to Jack as they made their way up towards a small Mom-and-Pop corner store at the other end of the block. At least two of the young men had their hands in the pockets of the jackets in a way that made Jack certain they were armed…. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mali Benjawan was crouched near the edge of one of the three story tenements in the Fens, out on one of her regular patrols of one of the more run down and crime ridden parts of the city. But so far the unpleasant weather seemed to be keeping troublemakers indoors. Just as Mali was starting to consider heading back to the Du Temps building, she spotted a group of four young men making their way to the entrance to a small convenience store. While they could well have just been a group of friends looking to buy some drinks and snacks, something about the way they moved and carried themselves made Mali study them a bit closer. As she watched, they drew close to the door and she saw one draw out a handgun from the pocket of his jacket as they made their way inside….

Very nice street level hero! Just a couple small things. First, for his super senses, you need to select a sense that Danger Sense is based off, same for Uncanny Dodge. Finally, I am counting 152 PP total, so you need to save off 2. Probably the easiest adjustment would be either dropping two ranks of Base Defense for two more ranks of Dodge Focus. Or 2 ranks of Base Attack and getting two ranks of Attack Focus: Melee instead.

Battlesuit and other questions (potentially ongoing)
Thevshi replied to Spacefurry's topic in Character Building
I do not believe you would have to buy Innate for each of those. One way to short-cut the issue might be to buy a Container that represents the Innate traits associated with the non-human species. For example, look at my Star Squire. She has a container that represents the common traits of her species, though I did not make the container Innate (I probably should). So if you bought all those things in a Container and made the container Innate you only pay once and the entire container cannot be nullified.
