Velocity Velocity gave Mia a smile and a nod as the teen thanked her. "Your very welcome Mia." She replied before focusing back on Davyd and his follow up question. But before she could reply Leroy spoke up and the Freedom League speedster gave a small nod. "Leroy likely has some of it right. Although, Deadalus has often commented on how there are similarities in Lor society and culture with the Roman Republic." She then focused on Leroy as she added, "and you may find there is a bit more in common between the Praetorians and the Praetorian Guard, at least in terms of the original members and the organization’s history. But I’ll leave that for you to learn more about on your own if you choose." With that Velocity led the group of teens the short distance to where the airlock the Praetorian starship had docked with. Checking the readout to ensure the docking had been successfully completed, the speedster then began cycling the doors. A few moments later, the inner most door slide open and standing inside the airlock was a towering reptilian humanoid that stood over eight feet tall with a massive, stocky build. While it had a utilitarian body suit on that covered its torso and upper legs, its arms and rest of its legs were bare, covered in thick green and brown scales. Wrapped around to one side was a ten foot long tail that ended in a spiked ball. "Hello Seresk." Velocity said in greeting when she saw the towering figure. "Greetings Velocity, it is good to see you again." The reptilian Praetorian stated in heavily accented English before focusing on Eira. "And you as well little one." He added with what appeared to be a smile before he turned his gaze to the other teens. "And these must be your fellow Claremont students?"

Paradigm Paradigm listened quietly as Ori-Bath described her reasons for coming to CoVic Station and seeking a meeting with the Praetorians and then Dirge spoke up to repeat the story of his people’s fate he had just been telling her when Ori-Bath had arrived. The Naram certainly felt sympathy for the two, but she was in something of a difficult position, given how the Praetorians had positioned themselves following the Incursion. "You have my deepest condolences Countess Ori-Bath." The Praetorian stated, looking over toward the other woman. "And as I stated before, you do as well Dirge." She added, glancing up toward the towering Fryxuian before looking back to Ori-Bath. She added apologetically. "Some two thousand cycles ago the situation would have been rather simpler. Where you able to have earned the support of the Empress Traveller and I once served, then we would have gone to aid you at her order. But the Delzatri Empire is long gone, and when we sought to find a new place in the galaxy as it is now we focused on our ancient oath to protect those in need. However, without any authority under which to operate, we only operate where our assistance has been requested. And even then, we have accepted certain limitations, similar to those under which the Star Knights operate. We normally do not get involved in situation that could be seen as purely an internal matter of the world, system or political entity requesting our assistance. There are some exceptions, generally involving hostile influence from some outside party." "Given the ambivalence of the Grand Duke of your world, I am not certain our assistance would be welcomed to provide you aid for what appears to be an internal matter, terrible as it may be. Now, while you are here on CoVic Station or within the borders of any member of the Coallition, the Praetorians would gladly come to your aid should you need it." Paradigm stated, focusing squarely on Ori-Bath as she spoke. After a moment’s pause, she then added, "of course, where there to be any evidence that your brother was being influence or receiving assistance from some organization or power from beyond your world, then there might be a basis for our becoming involved to address that interference."

Tsunami Giang gave a small smile when Heroditus began asking about some of her adventures with Thaelia and others. :Well, Thaelia and I got up to a number of things, but I assume you are referring to our underwater exploits. Temperance is the other common member of the loose association we formed." The Asian young woman replied. "As to how that began, it was rather by circumstance, when the three of us, along with another aquatic based hero all responded to a call for assistance from the Coast Guard just off the bay here in Freedom City. That led to an encounter with a ghost pirate and his crew, who had seized a cruise ship." "After that, the three of us got involved in a number of other aquatic adventures, including dealing with some sharkmen who reside in the oceans near the island of Japan and even dealing with an alien space pirate who attacked Atlantis and released an ancient Lumerian bioweapon that has been imprisoned in the city for millennium."

Veronica Danger Luckily for those who were not too fond of salad it was not too long before the main course was served, which consisted of a couple different types of cooked fish. "Trying to raise a sunken vessel that has been on the ocean floor for a couple hundred years is a difficult operation." Dr. Durant replied to one of Davyd's questions. "While it does appear mostly intact, that long of exposure to the water and pressure is sure to have weakened it. But an equally important consideration is that over the past few hundred years, this vessel has become part of the ecosystem around it." The Frenchwoman indicated some of the pictures being passed around. "As can been seen in many of those picture, large sections of the vessel have become overgrown with various plants and coral. Moving it would cause significant damage to the ecosystem." "Something we do not want to do." Veronica stated. "No, the plan is primarily to get a closer look to see what more we might be able to learn about the vessel. If the conditions are right, we might even try to enter the wreck. Hopefully there will be some artifacts which we will be able remove without significant ecological impact. And we will certainly be photographing as much as we can." The teenage Danger then leaned back in her chair slightly as she looked over to Pan. "And as for treasure, we will just have to wait and see what we find down there. But given the general condition of the vessel, there are good odds that there will be something of interest inside."

Veronica Danger Veronica started down the stairs first, following after Elizabeth’s light as it moved out ahead of them. For several minutes the light just reveled the narrow stairs leading down deeper between the stone walls on either side. "Some pyramids have underground passages that lie beneath the lowest level of their interior, but they are not like this, nor this deep." The teenage Danger added to her earlier comment. Eventually the stairs came to an end as the trio of teenagers stepped out into what appeared to be a natural cavern that led away from the entrance to the stairwell some fifty feet and into darkness. The air down in the cavern was somewhat stale and also much cooler than the tomb above had been. "Well, I said this was unusual before, now it is truly unique." Veronica stated as she looked about the area where the stairwell ended for a few moments.

Veronica Danger As the faint humming noise began to sound from the area around her, Veronica felt a sensation of fear was over her. Fighting against an urge to just turn and run from the area, the teenage Danger still felt slightly shaken as she began to take in the unfolding scene around her. All around the group of Claremont teens, the various scattered adults (including Dr. Ellison) began reacting to some unseen terror. Several screamed or yelled in panic, before turning and fleeing in another direction. The scene became one of chaos. "Some..something's wrong." Veronica stated to Micah, as a shaking hand reached up to the necklace around her neck which held several small silver charms as she began to look about for any sign of what might have caused the sudden panic.

Okay, based on my read of the fear effect, Veronica and Micah are -2 on their Initiative checks, which I take into account below: Round One 26 (28 if fear removed) Veronica Danger (Effected by fear (1 rd), unharmed) 4 HP 20 Ms. Thursday (unharmed) 4 HP 17 Octoman (unharmed) 5 HP 10 (12 if fear removed) Thunderbird (Effected by Fear (1 rd), unharmed) 3 HP 8 Artificer (unharmed) 1 HP 6 Fearmaster II (unharmed) So, right now the Initiative is really just to have us in some structured time. At the moment there is not too much that requires it, but that will change at the start of next round. Also, E and I spoke this morning, and I will been sidelining Danica for the moment (in a suitably heroic fashion). If we are still going with things toward the end of the month when she finishes the bar exam, she will be able to get back into the fight. I am going to make a quick IC post for Veronica, then it will be Astrid’s turn.

Paradigm Paradigm wished she could have gotten Dirge to remain at the Praetorian headquarters where she had been speaking with him after Sitara had introduced the powerful and overly enthusiastic Fryxuian, but there was little she could truly do when he had indicated his desire to accompany her as she came out to assist Sitara with the visiting noble. To no real surprise, Dirge had again brought back tension to the exchange with Ori-Bath. Thankfully, Sitara interjected just as it appeared the two guests appeared about to come to blows. Even as the visiting Countess of Lugo stood down, Paradigm gave a glance back at Dirge. "At peace Dirge." She stated simply before focusing back on Ori-Bath. "And I again apologize for the various misunderstandings surrounding your arrival." Paradigm stated as she started to lead Ori-Bath away from the docking bay and into the station proper, fully expecting Sitara and Dirge to follow. At the countess’ mention of one of the Praetorian's Terran members, Paradigm gave a small smile. "Yes, Queenie, she is an excellent cook. But you have actually already spoken with a Terran. Traveller hails from the world, although she left there several thousand years ago, and it has changed a considerable amount in that time." "And I am not certain I would call the Terran's 'primitive,' To be certain the technology of the world as a whole is just getting to the stage of extra planetary exploration, but there is some more advanced technology in more limited use. And the world has produced a considerable number of exceptional individuals. Perhaps the main disadvantage holding it back from truly joining galactic society is the fact that it lacks a central governing body, instead there are numerous sovereign entities, often in some form of conflict with each other."

Velocity If the Freedom League member leading the group of Claremont students around was bothered by Leroy’s dismissive comments on the Lighthouse, she did not show any sign of it. Instead she answered any questions from the other students and otherwise let them talk amongst themselves. When Davyd brought up his question about the use of the phrase "Terra," the yellow clad speedster gave a small smile as she responded. "Actually, the use of the term 'Terra' and referring to use as 'Terrans' came about before the Praetorians returned to the scene. It came into common usage in the Lor Republic a few decades ago, when Deadalus was traveling in space and spent time with the Lor. It sort of spread from there, so was in prevalent use when the Praetorians where awoken at the start of the Communion’s incursion." The speedster had turned away from the viewing windows as she responded to Davyd's question, but then turned back towards them. "Speaking of Praetorians, looks like your ride has arrived." A few moments later a moving object could be seen closing with the Lighthouse, as it drew closer the gathered teens could see that it was a large spacecraft. The main hull of the craft was a central, disc shaped section. On either side were two long and narrow hull sections that went forward more than twice the length of the disc section, vaguely resembling the hulls of a catamaran. As it continued to draw closer, the vessel was clearly starting to decelerate, as it continued to draw closer to the station and began docking procedures.

Veronica just misses her Will save with a 19 (so is suffering a -2 on attack rolls, defense and any checks)
-
@KnightDisciple@Dr Archeville@Cubismo @Electra Okay, need Will saves from everyone, DC 20 (unless you have some immunity to fear) @Grumblefloof Grumble, I figure that since this is sonic based, OctoBen would be immune. @olopi Olopi, not too late to jump into things. If you can post, please make the Will save for Monica. Everyone might as well make Initiative checks. Everyone will be getting a HP for all the civilians that are now in danger around them.

GM Even as Micah and Veronica began to react to the sighting of the mysterious figure, Ben had already started over towards where the figure that seemed to have disappeared. Moving at a quick pace, he was able to close the distance quickly as he breathed in through his nose, taking in the smells of the area. First and foremost, there was a strong smell of various animals, even though this particular area was not near one of the enclosures, the animal scents were pretty strong throughout the zoo. Focusing past that, Ben found a human scent, a male. It was pretty non-descript, pretty generic bodywash and deodorant, but then there was something else there. A mixture of some sort of chemicals… --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A short distance from where Ben was sniffing around, the figure that three of the teens had spotted moved down an employee path between two of the main public paths through the zoo. As he went, he raised his left arm, turning it so a small device fixed to his left forearm was facing him and his right hand began keying several buttons on the device. "Activating the trap now Seidel. Be ready to move in." ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Up ahead of the rest of the group of Claremont teens, Danica had pulled her Segway up near one of the viewing areas for the tortoise enclosure. She stopped a short distance away from a group of elementary school children who appeared to be on a class field trip as well. The appearance of the teenager on the Segway distracted several of the children from the enclosure and their teacher who was reading from one of the placards next to it. "Wow, that is really cool." Said one of the kids, a girl who appeared to be about eight. "How fast does it go?" Asked a boy around the same age. Just then a faint humming noise began to emanate from somewhere nearby. The children looking up at Danica seemed to freeze for a brief moment, before they began screaming. One curled up against a wall, while most of the others turned and began running in all directions.

Veronica Danger "I saw something over there." Veronica admitted as Micah asked if she saw something. "But only just caught a glimpse of someone over there." She admitted. It was then that she noticed the hint of ozone in the air and the shift in the breeze. "Easy Micah." She said quietly, holding up a hand. "It might be nothing. But if it is…better to be calm and in control." She added before glancing around. "Dr. Ellison is over there, she can probably get through to security." The teenage Danger stated, looking over to where the Zoo employee was walking near Heroditus and Astrid. "Or we can just investigate ourselves."

Squire Kath’'ana Kath'lana nodded slightly, seeing the logic to the points Fa'Rua brought up regarding trying to hit them while they were outside the fortress. The Star Squire then glanced back at Dirge as he made a great boast about ways he could possibly end the threat. She then considered the additional information from Sitara. "B'ka and I are already committed to stopping this threat, additional numbers does not really change that"” She paused a moment, then looked back to Dirge. "If you are capable of moving as much metal as you claim, could you not use that power to remove any weapons and spacecraft they have in there? That should make it safer to go in to subdue them."

Velocity As Lulu went to go get changed, Megan was off once more in another blur of movement, zipping over to the police car that had not been attacked. She came to a quick stop near the driver’s side window, waiving to get the attention of the officer behind the wheel. "Pull back to the next intersection and set off a cordon. I will get the other officer's clear." She called out, making sure the officer had understood and started backing the patrol car up before zipping over to the damage police car. In short order she had extracted the two officers from the vehicle, who were a bit banged up, but did not seem seriously injured. Leaving them with the two offices in the second car, she then headed back to the direction of that the energy blast had come from as she received Lulu’s mental message. -Great, just be sure that you remember to use Velocity if you speak out loud.[ The speedster though in return to the teen telepath. Easily catching up with the teen, Velocity rounded the corner of the intersection where the police car had been attacked and started in the direction of the blast. In moments she took in the entire area, helped in part by her high-tech goggles. Coming around the corner, it took Lulu a few more moments to take in the scene, but it was not difficult to spot what was going on. In the middle of the street near the next intersection was an armored car that had been flipped over. Two figures were standing near the vehicle, both standing out, but for rather different reasons. One figure was a bulky, towering figure easily over seven feet tall. He appeared to be dressed in some sort of dark grey armor that covered his entire body. On either side of his helmet was a curved, golden horn, much like those of a ram. The other figure was of normal height, but dressed in a costume that was primarily a blueish-green, but with sections of white and black, including on the long cape he wore. A similar blueish-green light seemed to surround him as he looked at the overturned armored car. "Let's hurry up Bighorn, more police will be here soon, no telling when a local hero might show up." Stated the figure in green. "You mean like me?" Velocity asked as she sudden appeared leaning up against a nearby parked car. "You know, you two can save yourselves a lot of hassle by just giving up now."

Paradigm "Traveller, this is Elite." Came the response through Sitara's comm unit. "There was a bit of a mix up with station flight control. The countess was supposed to be routed to the Praetorians' docking bay. Paradigm should be there momentarily." The Praetorians' tactical specialist was quickly proven correct, when a pair of flying figures appeared heading toward the docking bay from the outside of the station. The lead figure was dressed in a full length white bodysuit, with black diamond shapes with golden trim on the shoulders and upper chest. The black gloves and boot had similar trim and a long black cape trailed behind the figure as it flew through the atmospheric barrier field and moved quickly over towards Stalock and Taveller. As the figure drew closer it became apparent that it was a female humanoid with orange skin and long hair which was dark purple and black. "Greeting countess, I am Paradigm." The new arrival stated as she landed nearby. "My apologies for the misunderstanding with station flight control." The Praetorian leader’s tone was respectful and apologetic, but also confident and firm.

The two teens made their way from the garage and toward the large mansion. They entered the house through a side entrance and passed through a mud room before entering into the kitchen. The kitchen was open and spacious, with dark granite countertops, including a large island toward the middle of space. There was a good sized breakfast nook off to one side, its table large enough for six chairs. It also had large windows that looked out onto the grounds behind the home. Megan Harrow was busy putting some things away into one of the pantries in the kitchen and looked over as the two teenagers came in from the mud room. "Perfect timing Lulu." She said before turning to focus on Adam, a warm smile on her face. "So very nice to see you again Adam." Megan was dressed in pair of designer jeans and a cashmere sweater and focused her attention back on the redheaded teenager. "Lawrence is currently up in his room and dinner should be on its way. There is money up on the table in the front foyer." She stated as she closed the pantry door and made her way across the room towards an exit that led towards one of the back stairwells to the upper floor. "So I am going to go get ready, we will stop by on our way out."

Veronica Danger Veronica gave a small smile and nod at Micah’s comment about "some" of the team equaling two or more of them in terms of energy. "True." She responded. "Though, one of our normally more mellow members is gunning for the high energy title today." She then added, tracking Danica briefly with her eyes as the other teen guided her Segway off to one side up ahead of the group. As Micah's smile and tone turned a bit melancholy, Veronica did not ask about the slight change in mood, instead just listening to what he was willing to share. "Well, hopefully the day remains one that is easy to enjoy." She stated. But even as the teenage Danger said this, out of the corner of her eye, she thought she saw someone standing in the shadow of a building watching the group. But by the time Veronica turned to focus on the area, the figure was gone. Did I just imagine that? Veronica thought to herself as she looked over in the direction of the building. Micah had also caught sight of the individual standing in the shadows, but unlike Veronica, he had not looked away before looking back. Micah had focused on the figure and saw it move back to disappear behind the building. Up ahead, similarly to Veronica, Ben had caught a glimpse of the figure out of the corner of his eye, but by the time he had fully turned his attention away from Astrid and Heroditus, the figure had disappeared.
