  1. Ren tensed when Mr Parker brought up the bombings at Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Very diplomatic, bringing that up in the presence of a Japanese person, whether American or not. He was about to point out that the only reason the US had dropped those bombs in the first place was as a sabre-rattling measure against the Soviet Union when Lynn squeezed his hand tighter. Ren looked over at the girl and somehow, all the tension drained out of him. "Well, there's a problem with your supposition that causality is overrated, Mr Parker. While it is your present we live in, we still have to go back to our own. Basic Chaos Theory provides for a system of delineating probabilities concerning the topic, and the fractal geometry alone tells me whatever changes we've already wrought will have broad reaching changes in our time." He was about to school the man more about the inherent dangers of changing even the smallest things in the past when "Sean" burst in. Ren tensed again, wary of Mr Parker's warning the his son had come back from Vietnam recently, (however incorrect that identification was) but it seemed he didn't care all that much.

  3. Daisuke blinked as the underwater girl puffed out her cheeks against the glass on the side of her tank, then laughed and clapped his hands together, making a metallic clinking noise with each contact. Well, if she wants to play it that way... he thought eagerly, then pulled down one eyelid and stuck his tongue out at her. "Naaahh!" he teased. Where there would normally be pink flesh under the lid, the perfectly flexible metallic skin only revealed more of the same silvery sheen, if slightly more brilliant than the surface of the rest of his body. His tongue was much the same, the organ being covered in such a way that it combined it's former fleshy flexibility with the strength of metal.

  12. After a couple minutes, it became obvious that no one was coming to the door. The LaBreques were rich, but not wealthy enough to have a live-in butler, apparently. With a quick look around, it didn't seem as if any of the lights were on. Either Denton was home and simply not coming to the door, he was home and couldn't come to the door, or was not home at all.

  15. Velocity knew from personal experience Zoom users could go fast. The drug supercharged the metabolism to such a degree that it duplicated her own powers, but to a far lesser extent. That kind of boost did not come without cost, though. Heart damage was chief among the worries of Zoom users, but muscle tears, ligament strains, and massive bone decalcification were longer term worries as well. As she neared Denton's house, though, she realized one thing was off about Eric's heart attack. When a Zoom user crashed hard, they usually did so in the same hyperactive way they were previously moving. This almost always led to death, as even help rendered immediately would be too slow to do any good. But Eric was literally in slow motion when his attack hit. But Velocity couldn't worry about that any longer. Denton's house loomed large on the horizon almost before she knew it, smack dab in the middle of one of North Bay's many fenced-in communities. She would have to get in if she wanted to see if Denton was there, but that would mean she'd technically be breaking the law.

  18. It's fine with me as well. Now, speaking to Nanowire's seeming reluctance to change things. I feel that I'm simply playing him in character. I have no problem with Icarus going about and changing things, and I've actually been having fun just interacting. (I guess I'm one of those maladjusted social mutants that likes role playing over butt kicking ) The problem comes in when things need to be put back in order. I don't want to feel like I'm ganging up on you along with everyone else, as Ren will likely want things to go back to the way they were if the new future sucks. If he does see the opportunity to cure himself along the way, though, like if he can absorb something big and mechanical, (*wink wink*) then he'll be happy to do so.

  21. I was born in the Northeast, and am thus genetically predetermined to favor the Patriots. But love 'em or hate 'em, going into the Superbowl, they are the superior team by far.
