  1. Rich? Ha! Just because my dad is Vice Manager at his Intel plant, owns two BMW's, has a boat that's bigger than most people's houses, and owns controlling stakes in three rental properties and two islands on both coasts, doesn't make him rich. ...Come to think of it, I kinda hate myself now...

  4. This is where you tell what you got for your individual holiday, which is, as we all know, the only reason we celebrate. Fairly light haul for me: Got a couple of books, Alternate Generals III, by Harry Turtledove, and Postwatch: The Redemption of Christopher Columbus, by Orson Scott Card, Some dice my friend picked up in Las Vegas, A change jar (I have a lot of change), A car adapter for my cell phone, about $260 dollars in checks from various people, some assorted magnets for my new house (yes, I finally live in a house now. ), and last, but certainly not least, my George Foreman Grill! Knock out the fat!! P.S. Oh yeah, and a 42" flatscreen TV. No real need to mention that.

  10. I don't believe so, no. Protection, of any kind, only applies to one person at a time. Although your body is still "you", if you had Protection instead of a Force Field, it wouldn't apply to your unconscious body. The very idea behind the "Projection" flaw is that your body is vulnerable. I believe what you're looking for is Astral Projection, in the UP book, pg 137. In case you don't have it, here's the mechanics: Effect: Communication and ESP Range: Extended Saving Throw: None Action: Standard(Active) Duration: Continuous Cost: 5 points per rank With this power, you can go up to a range of your rank in the Extended Range table. You are not invisible unless you have the Subtle feat added, at the standard one for a DC 20 Notice check, two to be totally invisible. You have your normal senses and everything while in Astral Form. Try that instead.

  13. That's it. I've had all I can take from you. Clean out your locker, you're fired. But seriously, have a good time doing... whatever it is you're doing. (Just don't let me catch you slacking off again! )

  19. 'S pretty, though... Reminds me of when I lived back in Massachusetts. Now that I'm in Washington, all I get during Christmas is rain.

  22. Well, geez, if I knew all I had to do is come over and play with you and I'd get a picture in return, Nanowire would have flown in and beat you up a long while ago! Nice work, BTW. Vaguely reminiscent of Uma Thurman.

  25. For most of his life, Nanowire mentally remarked. That was something of a wakeup call, even if he was unable to show it by way of facial expression. As a machine, or as close to one as he could get, time meant little beyond simple bordom. The passage of the days, months and years didn't mean his gradual death anymore, but did it matter that he was effectively immortal when there was no point, just jobs like this one, one after another? No, the plan would work. The plan had to work. The alternative was unthinkable. Losing his humanity on the surface had been hard enough. He couldn't deal with losing his soul as well. "Do you..." Nanowire hesited, thinking of how he would phrase his question. "Do you ever get tired of it? I mean, you're not like me. You can do anything with your life. Why do this?"
