  1. Yes, it's true, I do in fact age with the rest of you. Funny story involving both age and roleplaying - at my FtF group not all that long ago, I argued that I should be able to use the phrase "back in the day" since I was 25. That's a quarter of a century; I'm entitled. Well, that might normally be true, but I negected to realize that the youngest person there (besides me) was over thirty. I was politely informed that should I choose to try out that phrase again, I would be bludgeoned about the head and shoulders with numerous copies of the 5th ed HERO main book. Having no paticular need to be beaten to death by tri- and quadragenarians armed with 750+ page roleplaying supplements, I wisely shut my mouth.

  4. Well, I tried a grab, but my inverse curve has struck again with a one. Nanowire's at defense 16 now, so lay into 'em. ;)

  7. Nanowire This battle seemed to be getting interminable. Everytime Nanowire had tried an attack, he'd been able to hit, but Heavy's armor negated the attack. Even hypervelocity slugs did nothing. Perhaps a change in strategy was called for. After Heavy missed disasterously, Nanowire shot back, "Tell me you didn't miss a seven foot tall target from ten feet away. What was that? A warning shot?" He blasted towards Heavy, arms outstretched to grab him. But Heavy jerked to the side at the last moment, making Nanowire continue past him.

  10. Right, I was unaware of the downfalls of Impervious Toughness, along with Penetrating damage, which is why Nanowire is decked out with 12 of each. Next run though, those will be lowered to more reasonable levels.

  13. Okay, hit saved against - my inverse bell curve is really helping me here. Just in case you check here before you check the post, I rolled yet another nat 20, so Nanowire shrugged off the punch without incident. Now for my turn - first, I took my move action to fly back ten feet, like it says, but you might be wondering just what the hell I did after that. The simple answer is that I modified the special effects of Shockwave, a Super-Strength feat. Shockwave, if you remember, takes a Reflex save based on my STR to only take half damage - that's a DC 22 Reflex save for a DC 21 toughness save. (if you suceed. It's a DC 27 otherwise.) Like I said, I monkeyed with the SFX a bit. It didn't make sense to me that Nanowire, an marvel of postmodern ultratech, would rely on a wave of air to hurt people. A cloud of hypervelocity frangible submunitions, however... well, that's a different story. Same game effect, different discription. Hope that helps.

  16. Nanowire Heavy's punch came out of nowhere. The guy was a lot faster than he looked, and it now seemed that he had been holding back his real ability until now. Unfortunately for the gravity manipulator, Nanowire's armor was more than up to the task of stopping the blow, and in fact, he had barely felt it. He simply stood and took it, then brushed off the point of impact without worry. "That's it?" Nanowire asked with a mocking tone in his voice. "I've been hit with spitballs that hurt more. Let me show you what real power is all about." So saying, Nanowire flew backwards about ten feet and switched over to a different weapon system. Weapon Selection: HV Flechettes his HUD chirped, and his armor split open along the seams to reveal row after row of razor-sharp 2mm needles, all aimed at Heavy. "These are Hypervelocity Flechettes," Nanowire explained helpfully as he oriented himself for a firing solution. "When magnetically accelerated to hypersonic speeds, specifically Mach 8, each one is capable of holing a M1A1 Abrams Main Battle tank. I'm capable of loosing 250 of them in a single firing, which means that, as of right now, I am the world's most deadly Claymore Mine." Without further preamble, Nanowire sent the mental signal to fire, and hell came to the Arena. Deck plating and steel I-beams were torn to shreds instantly as the destructive wave of unimaginably sharp metal fragments blew through them as if they weren't even there. And all of it was closing in on Heavy.

  19. Alright, thanks, Thev. I guess I've been wrong in my thinking for a while now.

  22. I'm slightly unclear on how Impervious Toughness works, evidently. I was under the impression that, Penetrating damage aside, whatever level of Impervious you possessed reduced the power of an incoming attack by that much - to the base 15 toughness save. For example, If I am hit by a +12 attack and I have +10 Protection, all Impervious, I only have to save vs. a DC 17 hit. (DC 27 minus 10) However, I'm unsure if that's the case now. What's the real deal?

  25. Er... hate to stick my head in here, but there's something about Air Control you should probably know. In it's fresh-out-of-the-box state, it cannot be use to directly damage someone, so you two have been playing it right. All it can do is Trip someone or lift weights - excluding people. It might not make a ton of sense, but consider the fact that it only costs two points per rank. Would the designers include something that can auto-hit and damage someone for that little? Anyway, sorry for butting in, hope this helps.
