  1. Kwame turned at the sound of the new arrival and smiled. "Yes. You're in the right place. I'm Hammer, the one who's put this little gathering together." He held out his hand in greeting. His eyes lingered on the newcomer's wings. It's official. I'm the only super in the city who can't fly! "I'm not sure if you know everyone here, but let me quickly introduce you. This is Dol-Druth, he'll be our referee, Phalanx, and Miracle Girl. Looks like we are getting pretty good numbers. If we can get at least two more, we can start playing a smaller 3 on 3 game." Kwame turned his gaze to the sky expecting the next arrival to come by air.
  2. Hammer smiled at the girl that suddenly arrived. Does everyone in this town fly? "Welcome, Miracle Girl! I'm glad you can make it. Oh, and it's just 'Hammer'. You know, like MC Hammer?" Kwame did a fairly poor imitation of MC Hammer's signature dance move. Hammer gestured to the others. "I hope you know the others. This is Dol-Druth, he'll be our referee, and this is Phalanx. Have you ever played flag football before?"
  3. Yes. The tackles would use unarmed attacks mostly. If you have powers that could actually remove a flag without harming player or destroying the flag, those could work as well. Throws would be ranged attacks. Usable powers apply here as well.

  7. Here at Freedom City Play by Post, it can very difficult to come up with a possible threat to challenge your newly made character. Well, this site has been around for some time which means there are many NPCs just waiting to be used in a thread. There are three levels for NPCs which dictate how they should be used. Tier 1: Open for anyone to use. Tier 2: Can be used only with permission of the NPC's creator, and the creator has the right to request that they be the one to actually run the NPC. (Most archnemeses should fall into this category.) Tier 3: Reserved for Ref use only.
  8. Hammer shook her hand and took the card. His face beamed with joy at receiving the card. "Thanks! I'll be sure to do so. I hope to see you at the match!" He waved at Grimalkin before leaping into the air. His powerful legs took him a fair distance and he repeated the maneuver until he was out of sight.
  9. Kwame had found a large rock to sit on as he continued to answer the hellishly long questionnaire. "Money's not all that important to me. As long as I have enough to live comfortably, I'm good. Excess funds I usually give to fans or to charity. Another way to bust my popularity. " Kwame looked up when he heard the voice of the new arrival. His face clearly showed his thanks for the interruption. He stood and took Phalanx's offered hand. "Thank you for coming out. I figured this would be the best way to meet some of the heroes in the city as well as introduce myself. The name's Kwame Harris. I'm using my wrestling name as my superhero name as well so you may call me Hammer." Hammer looked over at the equipment and nodded. "Normally, the game would be pretty difficult to play. Football has a lot of rules most people would like to see gone. Today, I figured we'd try a simpler version known as flag football. Dol-Durth has offered to be the referee which should be helpful. I wanted to keep things simple as I had no idea who would come out. Besides, when dealing with supers, it's kind of hard to keep everyone on the same level." Hammer gestures up and down Phalanx's frame. "For example, you can fly. That really changes the way the game can be played. If we get a speedster to show up, that's just as difficult to incorporate!" "I'm hoping that everyone agrees to restrain themselves. The game is only secondary for me to meet new people."
  10. Kwame listened to Sakurako very carefully. He nodded his head as he took mental notes of the usage of both systems. "Okay. So, HeroHouse is used to keep in touch with fans, while TroubAlert is used to keep an eye on events that may need my involvement. Got it. I think the UWL does have a system in place. I could of course use my old system for when I was a part of the PCW, but I'll look into it." Kwame sets his now empty cup down and clasped his hands before him. "Since you brought it up, I did have a few other items I wanted to go over with you. The first is fairly simple. You mentioned it the other day about my costume. I really don't have pockets so it's going to be a little difficult to keep a phone on me. The other problem is I doubt any old phone case is going to be enough to protect my device if I'm in a fight. The costume at least is made of some kind of special material to help it withstand to the rigors of fights between metahumans." Kwame gestures to encompass the highly advance technology around them. "Where can a starting hero who isn't a genius, get their hands on some durable equipment?" Kwame held up two fingers as he continued. "The second point concerns the building of my reputation. I've always thought it would be a good idea to get to know the people you may be working with. I've got an idea on how to introduce myself to other heroes in the city but how do I learn about the possible threats that could be lurking about? Is there some kind of database I can get access to that I could use to study up on? I would hate to go out into the streets and try taking out someone I'm completely outclassed by. I mean I could probably take Gargoyle but if Warp or Grimalkin were villains, I wouldn't stand a chance against them. I like to know my opponents before I engage them and would hate to go out there clueless. That's how people get hurt. It's been that way in the ring and I suspect it's the same for the heroes."
  11. Great! I look forward to seeing you join in!
  12. Kwame nodded his head. "Okay. I guess the first question I have is how do I keep fans aware of my activities, both heroic and UWL related all at once? I would hate to have to make three or four posts to reach people. I would like to update one area and then have that update everywhere else. Oh, and is it possible to set that type of system up where I could automatically split the information? Let's say, I only want to update the heroic side of things and not bother the wrestling side. Would I be able to do it that?" Kwame rubbed his chin in thought for a moment before continuing. "I guess, I'm also looking for a way to reach other heroes as well. I'm new in town and would like to meet some of the heroes in town. At least let them see me and know that I'm a hero as well, so that no one mistakes me for a big bad. That would be pretty embarrassing! That actually happened once in my early career. I was playing a villain in the ring but in real life, I was trying to help people. It caused a lot of confusion." He stops rambling and blinked. "Oh, sorry about that. I didn't mean to waste your time talking about unrelated items. I think that's about it though. Unless you can suggest any other things I should do."
  13. Kwame turned surprised by the sudden explosion of light, he quickly raised his guard, unsure if what he was facing. As the strange creature began speaking, Kwame slowly lowered his arms. It took some time to catch on to what the strange creature was saying. First magic, now aliens! Wow, being a super in Freedom is going to be so awesome! "Um, thank you, Dol-Druth. It would be my pleasure to have you act as referee. Hopefully more people will come to play." Kwame turned his head and stared at the words forming all along the creature's body. That is so cool! I wonder what he thinks of the aliens in our movies? Were we right in any way? Kwame blinked when asked to describe himself. "Describe myself? Um, sure," he said as he took the form of light. He looked at it and was surprised by the questions on it. Why on Earth does he want to know all of this stuff? 'What's the worst someone's done to me?' 'What do I do for fun?' 'What do I wear to bed most nights?' My goodness, this questionnaire has got to have come from Hell! The HellQ! That's what I'll call it. "Please call me, Hammer. That's my superhero name. Or you could call me Kwame if you prefer. This is a pretty extensive list of questions. Some of which most people would say was just a tad bit too personal. I'll answer what I can, though." Slowly, he began answering the questions on the form. In between questions, Kwame asked his own. "So, Dol-Druth, have you seen football in action? It can be a pretty complex game, but we'll be playing a very basic version of the game, so I think you'll be able to pick up the rules fairly quickly. Um, what planet are you from?"
  14. That is so cool! Thanks for jumping in!
  15. Kwame nodded his understanding as he enter the complex. He was amazed how seamlessly it all worked. When she offered a seat on the couch, he took it. He placed his bag on the floor at his feet before reaching over to take a cup of hot cocoa. He added four miniature marshmallows to the hot brew. "Please, call me Kwame. I'm still not that comfortable using Hammer outside of the ring." He looked around the room, amazed at how warm the area was. "This is some place you've got here. It still amazes me that you're able to come up with all of these ideas and designs." Kwame took a sip of the hot cocoa and smiled. "This is pretty good, even better than what my Grandma used to make. Have you ever considered selling it? I'm sure you could make a decent amount of money from it. Of course," he said as he looked around once more, "I'm sure you don't need the extra cash. From what you said the other day, I guess you're pretty wealthy."
  16. Thanks for the resource ideas. I just picked up the XWF book along with some other wrestling related game books. Luchador: Way of the mask, World Wide Wrestling RPG, and name lists of Luchador names. Once I get some time to study it I'll be sharing what I learned.
  17. Kwame looked down at the map on his phone once again as he tried to get his bearings. It was Kwame's first time to the campus and he was unsure of where to go once he got there. the trip to the campus had taken more time than he would have liked. Now where am I supposed to go? She said to get to Claremont Academy and look for the orange structure. Hmm, could it be that tent? Kwame moved over to the large tent and took a moment to study it's construction. The color was obviously to help it stand out in the snow. The embankments were probably placed to keep the structure from being blown away from strong winds. He wondered how the embankment would be placed though. Does this thing have snowblower or something? If not, building those embankments is going to take a very long time. Ah, here's a doorbell. Kwame moved forward and pushed the small bell, waiting for someone to answer.
  18. Kwame looked at the others standing with him. Both Spur and Vixen, he worked with before. He was curious to see how Vixen had changed since their last time working together. Her powers were still a mystery to him, but he knew it would be a fun experience to work with the two again. Zayn was a completely unknown entity. Kwame knew little of the European wrestling scene. There were some very popular wrestlers coming from Japan, but he couldn't recall any specifically from Europe. The thought of working with such an unknown component was getting Kwame excited. "I'm good with that! I've been itching to get back in the ring. Getting the chance to debut with people that I actually know, that'll make the experience that much better. I'm even excited to work with Zayn. I always enjoyed working with new people and it's better to be on the same team first. This should be fun!" Jesse, The Spur, smiled in agreement. "Yeah. I can even get in the Hammer Toss maneuver! Can you picture me tossing you across the ring at somebody?" He slapped Kwame on the back. Sharon, Vixen, shock her head in amusement. "That would be something nice to see. Perhaps we could even work out having me ride him as you throw him? I could be the flying Vixen then!" Zayn looked back and forth between the three old friends, feeling slightly out of place. "I guess it could be fun. We'll have to practice a bit to get our timing right, but I think we could do it." Kwame nodded at Zayn's words. "Yeah, and we need to work on a name for you. Something with a little flair. Hopefully during practice, we'll find one for you." Zayn nodded his agreement and smiled. "We're all in Chief!"

  20. I've just started a flag football thread for anyone interested in joining. A Friendly Game is opened to all and any characters interested. Even if you're not interested in playing football, the thread is open for people to mingle with other characters. Please take a look. I hope to see people join up! Oh, rules for the football part of the game can be found and discussed in the OOC thread.
  21. This is the ooc thread for the main thread. Here, we'll have the rules of the football game. The below are just my ideas. If anyone has a better way to simulate a game of flag football, then by all means let us know. I want to keep things as simple as possible, though. For the most part, I figure we use attack rolls vs receiver's Defense for passes and tackle attempts. We use acrobatics or defense as the DC to avoid tackles. To catch a throw, characters use maybe melee attack rolls against DC 20 with a +/- 5 bonus based on the throw results. If the throw was +/-4 of the receiver's Defense, then the catch gets no adjustment. If the throw roll was +5 or more over the receiver's Defense, then the catch gains a +5 bonus. If the throw was off by 5 or more, then the catch attempt gets a -5 penalty. Throws that fail by 10 or more are uncatchable. Interceptions can occur if the character has any interrupt type abilities, i.e. interpose. They can then make an opposed catch attempt with a reverse +/-5 bonus. Winner catches the ball. For example: The QB throws to the receiver. Rolls a total of 18 to hit the receiver's 14 Defense. the receiver must then roll 1d20+0 vs DC 20 The Qb rolls a total of 24 to hit the same receiver, then the receiver must roll 1d20+5 vs DC 20 The QB rolls a total of 7, then the receiver must roll 1d20-5 vs DC 20
  22. January 7th 11:30am Liberty Park Athletics Field near Super Museum The Athletics Field was covered in snow, leftover remnants from the freak snowstorm that hit the city last month. The sky was a bright blue with only a few clouds to mar the scene. The weather forecast had said today would be warm and it seems it was right. Kwame adjusted his arm bands as he surveyed the area. This should do nicely. It's large enough that we can enjoy a good game as well as have people mingling. I hope I have enough equipment. Kwame took out a stack of cones and began marking out the playing field. First he marked one of the goals and then counted out a good distance before marking the second goal. He then went back and marked the middle area between the two goals. With the long ends defined, he then proceeded to mark the edges of the playing field. Satisfied with his work, Kwame then took out the other equipment: twenty-two belts, three flags per belt, and a football. Though the game of flag football usually only had nine players or less per team, Kwame didn't want to turn anyone away that wanted to play. Satisfied with his preparations, Kwame stood around and waited for people to come.
  23. Kwame picked up his phone and stared at the screen for a short while, trying to recall all that he was taught. Okay, let's see if I can do this. first, log into the site. Kwame's fingers touched a number of buttons, bringing up the browser followed by the login page of HeroHouse.com. What was my id and password again? Oh that's right! I remember. He entered the require information and was rewarded with the main bulletin board of topics and forums. Okay. That's the easy step. Now for the hard one. Choose new topic. Set the topic to public. Now all I have to do is type in the message. She said I needed to keep things 140 characters, right? Kwame stared at the screen for a while, wondering why he couldn't type any more. Oh, I'm over the limit. Got to change it. First, delete. Then try again. Kwame smiled once he saw that the words fit. Good start. Now let's see if I can get the information to them. Kwame looked at the last message and smiled. This should do it. I hope a lot of people come out at least to mingle.
  24. Kwame watched with a little disappointment as the two heroes disappeared into the tent. Looks like you're on your own here. Well, like Grandma Harris always says, when the world gives you lemons, make lemonade! "It seems we have scared off our opponents! But now that I stand alone, I must devour you!" Kwame jumped from the castle, landing between the two castles. "To save your city, you must take me down!" He launched a snowball at his castle that hit one of the parapets. The kids shouted and snowballs rained down around him. Kwame made a point of dodging most of the blows, but allowed a few to be very near misses. After a short time, he challenged the kids to frontal combat. His eyes widen as five, ten, twenty kids began charging from the castles. With fear in his eyes, Kwame raised his arms and ran. The battle was tough but fun for the kids. After twenty minutes a large pile of children were on top of Kwame. "I give! Uncle! You've bested me!" he yelled from the bottom of the pile. The children screamed in delight as they stood up. Kwame followed, brushing snow from his clothes. "As promised, you are all invited to see Hammer's first battle in Freedom. Look for me at Millennium Mall." He moved over to the tent and knocked. "Hey, thanks for the fun, but I need to get home. I've got an important meeting tomorrow, You're all welcomed to the debut match next month at Millennium Mall. Oh, and Endeavor, I'll get in touch with about helping me set up my online profile. Take care."
  25. Kwame's eyes widen when they reached the next level. Finally! Here's a place I can really test out my strength! See just where my limit is now. He gave a slight rib gab to Jesse as he flexed his biceps. "Looks like we can see who really is the strongest one!" he said with a smile upon his face. Though the equipment looked limited, Kwame had worked with worst in the past. Any true bodybuilder knew how to think outside of the box when it came to working out. The extra rings on this level also gave Kwame hope. Hmm, with the closeness of these rings, I can watch others practicing their moves while I work out. Great! Kill two birds with one stone. I'll just have to remember to be careful with my throws. With those rings as close as they are, I expect we'll see a lot of people disrupting others. Kwame nodded his understanding when DeShaek asked for him and the others to remain behind. He was curious as to why his and the others had different schedules but he knew the answer would come soon. He looked over at Zayn with a curious look. "Zayn, are you going to come up with a stage name? There are some wrestlers that tend to go with their own name but I always found it better to have a working name." "I don't know," Zayn replied. "I tried having a name when I was in Europe, but nothing ever stuck. Now that I'm here, I might try to get one. How did you choose your name?" "Mine was easy. When I tried out for the PCW, the first wrestling group I started with, the guy I was fighting said I hit like a hammer. After that, the name stuck. Of course, I've adapted my style over the years since then to one using submissive holds a little more but I like it." "I was there," Vixen chimed in. "And that's not how I remember it. You got the name after your debut match. We all went out to celebrate and Kwame drank so much that he passed out. The rest of us started calling him 'Hammer' in reference to that!" The others standing around laughed and Kwame just shook his head in wonder. "Why'd you have to ruin the dream!" he said in a joking manner.
