  1. Alan looked over the area with a critical eye for a moment before taking down some notes on his clipboard. "All right, Chris. So, did you make this yourself?" Alan moved over to teh control panel and looked down at the controls while waiting to hear Chris' response.
  2. Okay, looks good. If you could clean up the Attack block, I can give move you to the next stage of character submission.
  3. As it doesn't matter about the powers unless you want it to, you can write it up either way. As for where the device is, just way that he had it with him. He knew before coming that they would test his devices as well, so he brought it along with him. No need to waste time with a "going home post". :)
  4. Okay, here is the OOC threadfor Arrowhawk's introduction to the sotryline. Here is the Ic thread.
  5. Lenny looked up at the moonless night sky and rubbed his hands together again for warmth. He had sent out the message for Arrowhawk to meet him here on the Boardwalk to discuss some important business, but he wasn't sure when the bowman would find time to show up. It had been some time since Arrowhawk had busted up the drug house. Lenny was still impressed that he managed to get out of there without losing his head but those heroes were always willing to risk their knecks. Now, Lenny needed Arrowhawk to do a little job for him. Again he looked up at the rooftops expecting to see the hero's silhouette soon.
  6. Here is the OOC thread for the street level adventure I'm getting started. This is mainly for Arrowhawk's introduction to the problem. However, if someone else is interested in joing up, either having known Arrowhawk or Lenny, by all means drop me a line and let me know. Please post interest here first.
  7. Here's your the OOC thread for you Chill Out. And here is the IC thread. You can be in the area on patrol or trying to get some food from the grocery store before heading home.
  8. The streets of Lincoln have always been known as a dangerous place to walk at night. Gangs mark their territories like dogs. Though there are good people that live in the area, those numbers have steadily decreased once the gang-busting Black Avenger retired from his nightly patrol. Some say that he was killed while in his secret identity while others believe that the hero simply realized just how hopeless his fight against the gangs truely were. Regardless of the truth, the gangs were quick to take advantage of the heroe's absence from the streets. Only in recent years has a new hero come upon the scene to protect the inocents of Lincoln. Sonic, a teenaged hero, has begun to take up the mantle that the Black Avenger had set aside. Slowly, he has gained some respect from the various gangs, but he is still only one in an area plagued with various problems. Tonight, one such problem has just reached a boiling point. At the corner of 36th and K street, the Southside C's were begining their intitiation ritual. A young boy held a small pistol in his hand, taking comfort from the cold steel. He looked over at the small grocery store and ran the instructions in his head again. "You wanna be a Southside C's? Man, you's got ta prove yous can hang with us. Gon' over to that little grocery story on 36th and K and pop that old Spic behind the counter. You do that and you're in, LaShun." Lashun watched as the owner of the shop, Javier Cruz, moved about the store, cleaning the floor and restocking shelves for the next day. LaShun was supposed to do the deed before Javier went home. Again, LaShun took comfort in the weapon in his hand before moving across the street. Javier Cruz was a long time resident of Lincoln. He had opened his store back in the early seventies, when the Black Avenger was still patrolling the streets. The presence of the masked crime fighter was the only reason that Javier was able to keep his shop open during those gang infested days. Now, with the hero gone, Javier was finding it difficult to keep his shop outside of the grip of the neighborhood gangs. In the past month alone, he was robbed five times. The police could do nothing for him even though they knew exactly who was behind the robbings. Everyone in Lincoln knew who was behind the crime, yet no one was brave enough to confront the Southside C's. It took all of Javier's strength to seek out Sonic and ask the teenaged hero to intercede on his behalf. Javier smiled as he remembered reading about the results of Sonic's visit on the gang. A good number of them were arrested and Javier felt safer at night. Little did he know that words had quickly spread that it was he that had gotten Sonic invovled with the gang's dealings. Now it was time for some payback.
  9. Here's the OOC list for the prologue to the street level storyline getting started. Right now, this is for Chill Out but other characters that deal with street level crime that might be in the Lincoln area are welcomed. Please ask about participation here first.
  10. Ask and you will receive. Here is the OOC thread and here is the main thread.
  11. Legend stood on the platform of the derelict oil rig known to certain people as the Arena. The mysterious curator of the one place where the villains of Freedom City could mingle with their peers without fear of intrusions by the do-gooders of the city. Today, he was waiting for one such villain to arrive. Legend had sent out the message to the demon after learning of his campture by the hands of the mob boss, "Big Al" Driogano, and his mystic, Lady Tarot. The demon had shown himself to be a very interesting character to the city and Legned wanted to see just how much power the mysterious newcomer had. The fact that he was so easily taken down by the Don would only draw the demon's attention to the summons. Perhaps, Belphegor could learn of a new way to cause havoc within the city limits. Of course, he would have to first appear at the Arena before Legend could do anything. Legend looked up at the sky and waited for the demon to appear.
  12. This is the OOC list for Belphegor's power check at the Arena.

    Secret Identities

I just want to give a big Welcome to the boards to both AvengerAssembled and Pandorym! Things have been busy during the Holidays which is why the board has been as slow as it has been. I'm hoping that the other Refs will get back into the swing of things in the next few weeks. In the meantime, I'll be looking over your characters once I have some other items attended to. Hopefully, I'll get to your characters later this week. Again, welcome to the Boards and I hope to get you guys playing as quickly as possible. That goes for all the people waiting for their characters to be approved.
  14. The knock at Chris' door was firm and full of authority. No one knocked at teh doors like that unless they were one of the faculty members of the school. When Chris opened the door, he saw a tall powerful looking man before his door. It didn't take Chris long to recognize Alan Archer, the physical education teacher. "So, you're the kid with the flying machine, are you?" Alan said as he took an apprasing look up and down Chris' frame. "They tell me it's pretty interesting. Since I was assigned to do your placement test, I guess it would help if I saw it. Mind giving me a tour before we get started on your tests?"
  15. Here is the OOC list for Geckoman's placement test.
  16. After a short time, enough for Darian to regain his strength, the lights flicker and workers some out to clear away the table and chair. Stephanie's voice again comes over the speakers. "We are ready to begin the next stage. This will test your Morphic device's ability to latch onto a target and mimic their abilities, Darain. The test is simple. YOu must hit your target and then mimic their abilities. We've set up the test into for parts with three targets each. Each part consists of the same defensive ability, but each target's ability to resist your power is stronger. So you should be able to hit all of the targets in part one but find that the third target is more imprevious to your mimicry power. You get three chances to hit your target, but only one chance to mimic their power. Regardless if you mimic their powers or not, you must move on to the next target in the sequence. Good luck." As her voice fades out, three targets come out into the room. The first target begins moving around the room in a defensive pattern waiting for Darian to use his device upon it.
  17. STAGE TWO This stage will test the mimicing capabilites of his Morphic device. He must hit a target first and then roll the person's toughness save. As I uderstand the way you wrote up the power, he gets 5 trys without using extra effort. I would think that would include the attack roll. as well so if you miss, that's a charge wasted. Correct me if my understanding is incorrect before you proceed with the stage. You have four parts to this. Roll to see if you hit the various Def scores. If you hit, you then roll the Toughness save to mimic their powers. Each target, you get 3 attempts to hit. If you hit but fail the toughness save, that target is completed and you move on to the next target in the part. So, for example: Target A has a Def of 10, Toughness of +0. You roll your d20+6 attack and get 11. You roll 1d20 and compare it to your mimic DC of 16. The roll is less than your 16, you've succeed. Move on to Target B regardless of toughness result. Target B has Def of 10, Toughness of +5. You roll your attack and get a 8. You can then roll again, getting a 9. You get one last attempt which you fail to hit. Target B is complete. You move to Target C. Repeat for target C. Move to Part 2 which has a higher Def for each target. Part 1 -- Def 10 Target A (Toughness +0), B (Toughness +5), C (Toughness +10) Part 2 -- Def 15 Target A (Toughness +0), B (Toughness +5), C (Toughness +10) Part 3 -- Def 20 Target A (Toughness +0), B (Toughness +5), C (Toughness +10) Part 4 -- Def 25 Target A (Toughness +0), B (Toughness +5), C (Toughness +10)
  18. The room fades back to its original form and Darian realizes that only an hour had passed. Stephanie's voice come over the speakers. "You're probably wondering about the time difference. This room also has the ability to make time pass at different speeds. I'm not really sure how it works....yet, but it is nice for testing students that need more time than others. Refreshments will be brought out to you so you can regain your strength." The door opens and Darian sees a number of workers come in carrying a table loaded with a variety of dishes along with a chair for the young man to use. "Just a heads up, Darain. It seems your physical skills are very much below average for a young man your age. School does more than train your mind."
