The two young heros burst into the store and stood for a moment taking in the situation. Chaos was what greeted them. People were stomping on merchandise while security tried to restrain them. Unfortunately, there just wasn't enough security to help stop all of the patrons that were destroy the devices at hand. "What the heck is going on here?" Gravity Master said as he saw the people destroying the electronic devices. Druid scanned the area and pointed out a few clerks that were also within the grasp of madness. "Look there. Clerks are also trying to destroy the items on the shelves. They must be under some kind of an effect." Gravity Master looked over at a group of people wrecking the TVs. "I'll take the media section. You take the phone and cameras." Gravity Master took off, flying over to the media section and activating his gravity control to weigh everyone in the area down. As the force of his power washed over the effected people, they dropped to the gorund, unable to move. Druid frowned as Gravity Master ordered him about, but he knew that the situation called for some kind of teamwork. Druid moved over to the phone section and quickly reached into his pouch. As he brought out a handful of powder, Druid called on the power of the nature spirits to cause a clap of thunder to dazzle most in the section. The loud clap of thunder was easily noticed by Sanctis whao was located at the back of the store in the computer section.

Sammy found Lenny sitting on a bench over looking the beach area. It was rare to find the informant out in the open but Sammy didn't think it would hurt to get the business over with while the sun was still out. "So, having a good day so far, Lenny?" Sammy asked as he sat down next to the man. Lenny's only react was to turn slightly to get a better look at Sammy. Lenny was good at hiding his surpise. A very useful trait in his line of business. "I guess you can say so Sammy. It's been relatively quiet since that young buck, Arrowhawk crashed the Mancini place a few days ago. Did pretty well for himself actually. Almost didn't need Foreshadow backing him up." "That good, huh? Well, just don't send him my way, okay? I've had my fill of running into vigilantes. The last one almost had me if not for that strange woman that popped up." "I'll keep that in mind, Sammy. So, what brings out here looking for me in the middle of the day?" Sammy smiled as Lenny got down to business. That was something you could always count on with the informant. Not only would he pass on jobs that would help make a man rich, he also made sure that the neighborhoods he worked in retained a bit of structure. It was a fine line he was walking, Sammy knew, but Lenny had been doing this for some time now and he still had all of his original body parts. Sammy took out the small bag that contained the box he wanted to identify. "I need to find out what this is and how much I can get for it. It was the prize for my first job and the employer decided not to contact me again to pay me the rest of my money. I've been watching the news, but so far, there hasn't been any word that it was stolen. Got any ideas of what it can be?" Lenny took the bag and looked inside it for a short time before handing it back to Sammy. "Well, I assume you can't open it or you wouldn't be asking me about it. From the looks of it, I can tell you it's out of my sphere. However, I may be able to point you to someone that might be able to help you out. Give me a few days to check out some things." Sammy nodded and took the package back. "All right Lenny. I'll be in touch." Sammy stood and walked away leaving Lenny to his solitude.

Anything I need to do here?

Sorry for the delay. I'll update this when I get home from work today.

Remind me never to tell the gang down at the Arena that I'm celebrating anything! Those guys make sure you drink like there was not tomorrow. I thought everything was cool at first. Head down to the Arena for a few celebatory drinks not only for surviving that horrible job at the Golden calf but also to celebrate my birthday. No, not my actual birthday. The day I got my powers as at The Ghost. It was six years ago when I stole that amulet and then got the powers that made my life so much better. So there I was minding my own business drinking away when I mention to the bartender that it was my birthday. That was just the words that sealed my doom. Seconds later, he had announced to all present that it was my birthday and the next thing I knew, the lowest in teh joint to the high and power were buying be round after round of drinks. I couldn'T turn any of them down either. How would that look if I turned down a drink from those heavy hitters. I mean, half the folk there could have bent me in two! And that without breaking a sweat! I may be lucky, but not even I am willing to put my luck up against the likes of Argo or Mastermind. To make matters worse, Legend decided to come out and congratulate me as well. Now that wasn't something I was expecting. He's kept such a low profile on that derilict that I wonder if he even is running the place. He did have a slight twinkle in his eyes when said that toast though, as if he knew something big was going to happen in my life. Must have been the booze. Anyway, I've decided to take that silly box to Lenny to get some answers. it's been so long since I stole it and I'm about at a point where something needs to be done with it. Maybe Lenny can shed some light on it. If he doesn't know what it is, he can at least send me in the right direction. Perhaps even find a buyer for it. That would be the best course of action. Get paid for it.

Sammy walked back into his apartment and sat down in the chair before the Tv. Slowly he rubbed his head to clear it of the liquior he had consumed earlier at the Arena in celebration of his birthday. 'Hard to believe it's been six years since I got these abilities. I should have never told those guys it was my birthday. I haven't drank so much in years. It was a good thing I didn't have any classes today. I've only got about a little more to go before those computer classes are finished. Once they're done, I'll get in touch with Grey and get hsi business out of the way.' Sammy closed his eyes for a second before looking over at the strange rune covered box that sat upon his TV. It was the prize from his first job here in Freedom City. A mysterious caller had hired him to get teh item but then never got back into contact with him. Since he wasn't getting paid the second half of his fee, Sammy had decided to keep the strange item until he could figure out who to sell it to. Something about the box kept drawing his attention to it. Regardless of which room he was in, Sammy always made it a point to take a few moments to stare at the box. When he had first brought it to his home, the burgurlar would often reach out and caress the fine engravings. The box held little secrets to Sammy though he had yet to find a way to open it. The box was fairly small, not large enough for anything more than a key or perhaps a roll of parchment. It's shape suggested soemthing long, but Sammy was familiar with containers designed to keep the true shape of its contents a secret. No, trying to guess what the contents might be was a waste of time. A few days after taking the item and realizing that his employer would not be trying to get it, Sammy had tried to pass through it, but the attempt failed. Whatever those runes were that had protected the safe and the room in which he took it from seemed to have been also etched upon the box. His own abilities were unable to bypass them. 'Maybe it's time I took the matter up with Lenny. He might be able to shed some insight on the matter. If not, he can at least direct me to someone that perhaps might be able to help. I'll take it to him in the morning.' Sammy stood up and stretched. 'In the meantime, I think I'll turn in and get some sleep. Best to get the last of that liquior out of my system before going to see Lenny.'

This is the OOC thread. A story that starts highlighting some changes I have planned for The Ghost.
-
It's been over three months since a post has been put up in the thread, so I'm going to lock it up for now. When you're ready to get back to it, PM myself or a Ref and we'll get it reopened for you.
-
I don'T think it has been denied. I believe that most of the Refs are either busy with other threads, RL, or not cofident to do a dimension hopping story. Give it a little while longer to see if anyone finds an opening. If not, then leave space at the end as if the story will continue at another time. When a REf gets freed up, then the dimension sotry can be told after the fact. Could always refer to it as flashbacks even before it is played out.
-
Well, you have Dr A. invovled, and seeing as he is a Ref, you can get start on the thread. If a time pops up when you need another Ref to help out, then request one. Player driven threads are very much encouraged on these boards. :)

Man, that was one break I needed! With all those computer classes and the homework they hand out, I thought I would never get out of there. Still, I've got the final project to turn in before I can start getting back to work. That Grey fella, has got to be wondering what's taking so long to get the information he wanted. Hey, I asked if there was a time limit on the subject. Shouldn't be that much longer before I can contact him again. I really don't want to, but he's the type of person you just don't say no to. Man, he makes my skin crawl.

Correct. So part one would be DC 10 first at no modification, then at -5, then -10, and finally -15. So four rolls against DC 10, three of which are done further away.

After a short time, the preparations were complete and Mura was left in the room alone again. The signal tone rang and Gabriel's voice again came over the speakers. "It's time for the second stage of tests. We'll be testing the limit of your senses this time. A variety of sensors have been placed throughout the room. Each sensor will produce a tone of varying loudness and distances for you to locate. You need only say where the sound is coming from. Good luck."
-
STAGE TWO This test is to test the limits of her Blindsense. Within the room, devices are placed to set off a variety of tones. All Mura has to do is to point out their location once she hears them. The stage has four different parts. Each part has four ranges that she must succeed on by rolling her notice skill (d20+13). He has three chances per range to correctly locate the source of the sounds. Again, Extra effort can be used at any time. She can use her hero point at any time as well, but it will no longer be available for the remaining stages. Any conditions due to Extra Effort will reset between the stages. Part 1 -- DC 10 Close range (within 10ft) [no change], Medium range (50ft)[-5 on roll], Long range (100ft) [-10 on roll], Extreme range (150ft) [-15 on roll] Part 2 -- DC 15 Close range (within 10ft) [no change], Medium range (50ft)[-5 on roll], Long range (100ft) [-10 on roll], Extreme range (150ft) [-15 on roll] Part 3 -- DC 20 Close range (within 10ft) [no change], Medium range (50ft)[-5 on roll], Long range (100ft) [-10 on roll], Extreme range (150ft) [-15 on roll] Part 4 -- DC 25 Close range (within 10ft) [no change], Medium range (50ft)[-5 on roll], Long range (100ft) [-10 on roll], Extreme range (150ft) [-15 on roll]

Gabriel's voice came over the speaker as teh test was completed. "Bravado is often a sign of feelings of inadequacy, Ms. Echi." The sound of people moving into the room, quickly working to dismantle the press for the next stage of tests filled the room. Mura noted the sound of a chair and table being placed against a wall. Again Gabriel's voice came over the speakers. "While the next stage of tests are set up, you may take your rest. On the table are refreshments as well. Please help yourself. When things are in place, you'll hear the tone and I'll explain the next test."

It's down due to recent upadtes done to the site. The Refs are looking into the problem. :flash: EF did the upgrades so we're waiting to hear from him about the chat situation.
-
The +4 was his swimming speed. It was a test of his speed, not his swimming skills. You always have three chances per segment to succeed.
-
Oh! that changes things then. Sure, change away.
-
So what is the IC reason for the change? That would play a big role in how people accept the change. You've explained the OOC reasons: Fits the concept better, cheaper, more effective. What about the IC reasons? What you're proposing is a major change to the item and usually, for those types of changes, an IC reason is usually needed.
-
You do realize you get three attempts per part to succeed, right? Is there any reason why he didn'T try to fourth part two more times?
-
So all you're doing is changing the save, dropping the affect objects, and dropping the flaw?
-
Looks good to me. You have your first approval!
-
Sure, if you want.
-
The lights flickered once the room was set up and again Duncan's voice rang out again. "This will be a test of your swimming speed, Warren. It is fairly simple. All you have to do is swim from end to end. Of course, you must touch each item dropped into the pool before it hits the bottom. Five items will be dropped at various times while you move from edge to edge. Once you enter the pool, we'll begin."
