Thanks. I actually needed that. I've become so use to most Japanese having "-mura" on their family names. "Echi" is one family name that I've never heard of so that also threw me off. I'll be careful about it in the future.
-
Ha! Voted last week. Helps to be living in the future and all....
-
The room Echi was brought to registereed as fairly clear of obstructions to her senses. The heat of the day's light flitering in through a large pane window touched her skin and she could make out the breathing of the man sitting in a chair before the window. As she entered, the man turned to face her and through her senses, she noticed that the chair moved as the man did. "Ah, Miss Haimura. Welcome to the school. My name is Gabriel Marquez, the school's head counselor. Headmaster Summers wanted me to conduct your placement tests. He felt that I would be a better starting point for you as you have shown a reluctance to being open here at the school. Please have a seat." Gabriel moves forward and Echi can hear the wheelchair being manipulated until he was near an empty chair.

This is the OOC thread for Echi Haimura's placement tests at Claremont Academy.
-
Here's the OOC list for the story. Might not need it, but thought it would be good to have.

Man the dice did not like you at all. No problems, it let you show a little bit about Warren's personality. Go ahead and post a intermission post to show his feelings or thoughts on the previous stage and Duncan's response to his performance. I'll put the information for the next stage here as well. So you can see what is coming next. Once I put up the introduction post for stage 2 you can put up the results.
-
Duncan's voice comes over the speakers again. "Not a bad showing Warren. It seems you can use a little work on your managing your frustration as well. Often times, remaining calm helps the control of powers. Have a seat and relax for a bit. They'll need some time to set up the next stage." Workers came out with mops to clean up the water that had spilt upon the floor as Warren sat and waited for the next stage. The workers removed the containers and brought in various machines and began to set them up before the young man's eyes. A small table with refreshments was also brought out for Warren to take his fill while he waited.

Any edits done to your character will not go into effect for this thread. Remember teh purpose of this thread is to simply point out where Leviathan will be working on to improve. If he can'T do something during the test, you can work on improving that aspect of the character if it is something you want him to be able to do in the future.
-
If you wish to use your Hp to gain the power feat, Percise, then it would, yes. Of course, you would not have it for the other stages.

"Well, I hope it doesn't affect your interview with Mr. Summers," she says as she reaches their destination. Stephanie knocks on the door and waits for permission to enter before opening the door wide. Inside of the room was a small coffee table with three chairs around it. Sitting facing the door was Duncan Summers. He stood up and with a warm smile upon his face gestured for both Darian and Stephanie to sit down. "Please, have a seat. I'm glad to finally meet you Darian. I hope your journey here was a good one. Ms. Harcourt, if you would be so kind as to stay as well. I believe things might get a little above my head and can use your expertise in the subject to make sure I don't misunderstand anything." Stephanie looks surprised at the invitation but nods her head as she takes a seat near Duncan. Only the chair directly opposite of the headmaster was left open for Darian. duncan held out his hand in greeting to the young man.

The room lights flicker signalling the begining of the test. Warren sees some workers come into the room carrying five containers of various sizes. they quickly place the containers at various positions in the room, leaving the smallest container near Warren. Between the fourht and fifth containers, they place up a few stands and place plastic cups upon them. Duncna's voice comes over the room's speakers. "Okay Warren, we're almost ready to begin. Your first task is quite easy. We want to see just how much control of water do you have. All you ahve to do is move the water from the smallest container to the next larger one. As you can see, the workers are placing water into all of the contianers but the last one, so each time you move, the more water you'll have to move. The first contianer holds about seven gallons of water. On the last movement, we want you to move the water into the last container without knocking over the cups. You may begin whenever you're ready."
-
STAGE ONE In this stage, Leviathan must use his Water Control power to move water from one container to another. Simply make a power rank check versus the DCs placed below. You may roll up to three times to pass the DCs. You may use extra effort on any roll but becareful as the effects won'T wear off until after the stage has been completed. The last part will have him moving water around obstacles that would require the Precise feat. Without it, he can still complete the task, but he will "bowl over" any of the obstacles in the path. Part 1 -- Average difficulty DC 10 Part 2 -- Challenging difficulty Dc 20 Part 3 -- Formidable difficulty Dc 25 Part 4 -- Formidable difficulty Dc 25 [must manuever around obstacles (Precise feat needed)]

Sorry for the delay. I hope you enjoy the thread and the tests I have mapped out for you. I will put the details of all five stages here. I will put the DCs and what conditions you must follow to perform the actions. You will be allowed to make your own rolls and write up the results of the test. You have one HP to be used at anytime. If you wish, you may use extra effort during the various stages. There will be enough time between stages that any fatigued gained will be removed before the next stage begins. After you have posted the results of the stage, I will post a small transition post before moving to the next stage. If there is any items that you wish to be tested through this test, let me know here. If you do not think the test is one that should be given to Leviathan, let me know here as well. This is your thread and I am simply giving you the outlineo f how it will go. The test will have DCs that range from very easy to very challenging. If he fails any, that is fine as it is only a placement test and gives you an idea of where you might want your character to make improvements in. My next post will give you the information for stage one. Hope you enjoy!

Duncan watched Warren as he listened to the young man explain his powers. He had know from earlier conversations most of the information already and had some ideas on possible threads the boy could advance in, but he wanted to hear what Warren knew already. "Okay. So far, it sounds like nothing has changed much when your family was first contacted. That's good to know. It means we don't have to change much of the placement tests. Let me explain how this is going to work. There are five stages where you must use different abilities to complete tasks. Each stage has four tasks of increasing difficulty for you to complete. Between each stage, you will be given plenty of time to rest. This is a placement test which means there is no passing or failing. We are simply looking to find out your limitations at the moment. From the results that we get, we'll set up a schedule of classes for you to take here at the school." Duncan puases for a moment to let the information sink in before continuing. "When the lights flicker, it will indicate that a new stage will begin. I hope you're ready to begin." Without waiting for an answer, Duncan Summers walks out of the room leaving the young man in the room alone.

The Quicker You Start, The Quicker You'll Finish
MBCE replied to Ecalsneerg's topic in The Boardwalk
The man shakes his head, clearing his vision. The battle was wearing on the solider and he knew that was only a matter of time before the bowman could land another devestating blow upon him. "Well, I would love to sit around and prove just how wrong you are, hero, but I've done my job." The man turns and activates his jet pack before flying out of Arrowhawk's sight. The sound of breaking glass is suddenly followed by the sound of police sirens. Someone must have alerted the police when gunfire was heard. -
Sounds like a good idea. Dances are fun places for mishaps to occur. Lead up is good for role playing, but lacks the hummph that a good event can conjure.

What the hell is this city coming to? There I was, heading back to teh gallery to pick up that picture I saw earlier and some crazed maniac with guns tries to take my head off! Unlike the normal heroes that run around the city, this one was out for blood! The guy had me cornered until I made it down into the sewers. Normally, I try not to head down there as they are just filthy and I do have a reputation to uphold. I mean, how would it sound if the Ghost had to use the sewers to get away? They'd think I'm some common crook, which of course, I'm not. Besides, it stinks down there! Anyway, I thought I had given him the slip, buying myself some time to regain a mesaure of a plan, when I heard him come down after me. I started moving out and just when I got a far enough that I felt I was in the clear, some wanna-be hero appeared out of thin air. Thought the hero was a guy until she started talking. And talking she did. Accusing me of some wrong doing when I was being chased and bleeding at the time! Why do the heroes of this town think they are so much better than other people here? As if their powers just give them the right to dictate rules to people. Did she bother to even find out why I was being chased? No, of course not. She decided to simply tell the guy when he came into view, not to use lethal force when chasing me! Can you believe the nerve of that woman? Of course, that vigilante that was following me didn't like being told what to do either, so he took a few shots at her. I thought that it would be best for the two of them to duke it out instead of worrying about me, so I decide to help her out when he got a lucky shot on her. Seems the plan worked as she kept after him giving me the chance to escape. It took me ten showers to get the smell of those sewers off of me. Next time I see that girl again, though, I'm going to dictate my own rules!

The Arena was turning out to be the place where Sammy could simply relax and enjoy himself. On his free days, he enjoyed heading over to the abondoned oil rig and simply have a drink or two without having to worry about who might be out to get him. Today, however, had more meaning for the young man. "Give me bourbon straight up. And leave the bottle, Dan," Sammy said as he sat down at the bar. Dan, the bartender at the Arena came over with the bottle and placed it on the counter before Sammy. "Not like you to drink like this so early, Sammy. Something on your mind?" Sammy looked up at Dan and smiled. "Yeah. Today's my birthday." Sammy ran down the corridor with the small box in craddled in his hands. Alarms and the sound of pursit followed the young man as he tried to find a safe way out of the building. Sammy took a moment to look over his shoulder and caught a glimpse of the guards following quickly behind. 'Oh man! I'm not going to make it. If those guys catch me, I'll get locked up for sure. I'm going to need a miricale to get out here!' Sammy turned the corner and saw an open doorway. With no other options, he quickly darted inside and shut the door. The thief paused as he scanned the office he was in for any other exits. The room was fairly empty, only a desk and a large bookcase was present in the unadorn room. 'There's got to be something in here!' Sammy moved over to the bookcase, contemplating whether he could move it to block the door when he felt a slight tingle run down his spine. Without understanding why, he reached for one of the books on the shelf and pulled down on it. An audible click rang in the room right before the bookcase slid open to reveal another door. 'Woah! It's my lucky day!' Sammy opened the door and quickly entered the new room. Just as he entered the room, the bookcase returned to its normal position. Sammy put his ear against the wall and listened as the guards entered the room he had just left. After a few moments, the guards left leaving Sammy safely hidden in the secret room. The new room was much smaller than the previous one and Sammy could see that it had not been in use for some time. A quick examination of the area produced another secret door that lead to a corridor. Without having any other options, Sammy followed it. It must have been an hour or so before he emerged from a drainage pipe a good two blocks away from the building. Sammy smiled and gave a short prayer for his good luck before heading to the rendezvous point he had set up with his employer. "Oh, your Birthday? Well happy birthday to you, Sammy. How old are you now," asked Dan. Sammy took a sip of the bourbon before answering, "About six years old now." The warehouse where he was supposed to meet his employer was well out of the city. It was not a place that Sammy had really wanted to visit, but if he wanted to get paid, he had to abide by his employer's wishes to remain outside of the city. Sammy entered the warehouse and saw that candles placed in various places was the only lighting in the place. A group of candles were located on the floor in the shape of a star of some kind but Sammy didn't pay any attention to it. He was here to get paid, not admire his employer's taste in decorations. Standing at the tip of the star was the man that had hired him. Sammy knew little about the guy, not even his name, but his down payment for the job was very nice. The second half of the payment was enough to make Sammy forget about his usual practice of knowing something about the people that employed him. "Were you successful? Do you have the package?" asked the man in a very nasal voice. Sammy cringed at the strange sound of the man but again ignored teh feeling. He wasn't being paid to like the guy. "Yeah, I got it," Sammy said while holding it up to be seen. "Where's my money?" The man smiled and rubbed his hands together. "All in good time, Mr. Cosentino. If you would indulge me and step inside the star, I'll verify that the item is what I paid you to retrieve." Sammy shrugged his shoulders and entered the area. "Whatever you like. As long as I get paid." As soon as Sammy had entered teh area, the man began speaking in a strange language. Sammy tried to follow the words but they were meaningless to him. The package Sammy held in his hands began to radiate warmth in rhythm to the words floating in the air. Invisible mystical energy began to wrap around Sammy tying him to the forces that were being called. The whole process was fairly short and the man smiled as he looked at Sammy. "Yes, it is exactly what I asked to get. You can take out the amulet and hand it to me know, Mr. Cosentino." Sammy opened the package to reveal a beautiful amulet with strange runes written all about it. As he looked at the amulet, the runes seemed to move about as if they were alive. Sammy gave another slight shudder of revulsion before taking hold of the small item. As soon as his flesh touched the amulet, he felt a jolt of energy flow from it to him. Sammy pulled back his hand and noticed that the runes were no longer moving about. 'Not my problem.' Sammy tossed the amulet over to the man who caught it quickly and placed it into a pocket. "The rest of your payment is over there by the table, Mr. Cosentino. Enjoy it. You've earned it." The man moved back and watched as Sammy collected his payment. As Sammy began to leave the warehouse, the man spoke one last itme. "Lady Fortune will watch over you, Mr. Cosentino. I'd advise you to remember that from now on." Sammy looked back at the man and tilted his head. "Sure. I'll make sure to do that." 'Nut' "Six? What, twenty six?" Sammy laughed at the thought and shook his head. "No Dan. This is the day my professional life changed. Its the day The Ghost was born."

The arrow flies with deadly accuracy and delivers a powerful blow that saps a lot of his strength. Now the two combatants were on equal footing, but Arrowhawk had just enough time to take advantage of the man's disorientation. -
