They didn'T change anything. Each attack from the drones are done at one a round. So you will have your full deflect score to use to avoid each attack.

The Quicker You Start, The Quicker You'll Finish
MBCE replied to Ecalsneerg's topic in The Boardwalk
Arrowhawk moved quickly around the room lookin g for a way to open the bookcase. It didn'T take him long to find the small button under teh desk that once push swung the bookcase open to reveal an elevator. A quick look at the light indicated that the elevator went down to a sub-basement. A button to call the elevator back to this floor was on the wall next to it. -

The Quicker You Start, The Quicker You'll Finish

Arrowhawk manages to dive across the desk just as the lone guard manages to redraw his weapon. He fires a shot that misses the hero. He stood silhouetted within the broken doorway. -
Okay folks. YOu're in the school. You can continue talking in the thread with Gordy, aka High note, or begin making your own threads in the school. Possible ideas would be to set up your living arrangements, tour the grounds, or talk to minor characters to develop your characters. DR. A. will be running a thread for Claremont students in the near future so look out for it. I'll keep watch on the thread but official, my part is done.

Stephanie looks confused by Darian's words. "I hadn't heard anything about you having another meeting here, but you can take that up with administrations afterwards. There is no need for you to leave, though. Just try not to use any more falsehoods while you're here at the school." Leroy steps forward now that the packets had all been handed out. "Okay, people. Here's the deal...,"he begins and goes on to explain the various public buildings of the school. He explains that their are both normals and supers as part of the faculty so the people should becareful with the use of their powers. He lays out the general rules to refrain from using your powers outside of the designated areas. [Gordy would find this as being funny as he knows that a most of the students tend to ignore that rule. Of course, they have to keep their power usage to minor actions for fear of retribution from the faculty if they were caught.] The talk goes on to explain how the students would conduct themselves in the school and to enjoy talking to the other students at the school. Leroy gestures to Gordy, sitting over in a corner, as a good source of information on the school. "In conclusion, we hope that you enjoy your stay here at the school. Now, if you'll excuse us, we have some classes we have to get to work on. You're free to walk around and get to know the campus a little as well as talk to the other students." With that said, the two faculty members leave the new students with Gordy.

It's not a problem, really. I just want you to know that with the openness of the site, rolling the dice is the only way to keep things fair. And fun! :D

The Ghost frown when he saw that it was a kid that was the contact. A kid? What is the world coming to these days? Well, he better have deep pockets for wasting my time." "Alright kid. I'll play along but if you're wasting my time..." The Ghost let's the threat hang in the air as he follows the young boy into the alley. Again he follows the young boy when he gestures behind the dumpster. Humor has faded from his expression but he keeps his eyes open for any dangers that might be hidden.

The Ghost watched the man wearing red glasses for about thrity mintues. He kept himself with in the crowd and far enough away to be sure that he wouldn't be detected. The message on his machine he used for jobs was interesting enough for him to come out and at least see if the person would come or not. Looks like he's alone. I wonder if this is something Lady Fortune is sending her favorite solider. This will be interesting. The Ghost started making his way towards the contact, moving carefully to avoid detection until he was just up to the man. "I believe you're waiting for me," he said in a soft voice next to the man. The Ghost wore his signature black clothing with a black backpack on his shoulders. He looked to be at least mid twenties and stood with an slightly lazy lean. The laziness was most likely deceptive, but he didn't seem to be watching out for any trouble.

Quark should have been rolling bluff the entire time he opens his mouth. Just a note that it is important to stick to the rules in a thread that has many players in it. It's the only way to keep things working fairly on the board. Also, never ignore another person's use of a skill. It hasn'T happend yet, but I thought I'd bring it up anyway.

Miss Harcourt smiled at Gordy's approach. "Well, they're new students, Gordy. We're taking them in for introductions. Why odn't you join us as I'm sure they'll have plenty of questions for you afterwards. That is, as long as you don'T have any classes right now. Youhave your test later today, don't you? I hope you're prepared for it. Headmaster Summers likes to throw curveballs at the kids." Without waiting to hear Gordy's reply, Stephanie Harcourt and Leroy Hawke lead the group through the hallways to the Matthias Cooke wing of the school. As the group enters the foyer, they see the large bronze statue of Matthias Cooke in graduation robes holding a diploma. A few students move before the statue, touching it for a few seconds before heading off on their various errands. Mr. Hawke leads the group passed the statue and up the stairs to one of hte classrooms. "Please be seated. The next section will take some time to get through." Once everyone had sat down, both Stephanie and Leroy began handing out packets to the students. Each packet had their real name listed upon it. When Stephanie reached Darian she smiled and handed him his packet. "You can drop the pretense now, Mr. Cale."
-
Miss Harcourt turns to Ananta and smiled. "No. First you'll be given your introduction packets and explained the points of the school. Then you'll get a tour of the school."

STAGE THREE Gordy must now use his powers to protect himself. Using mostly his deflect ability, but his defense score still plays in effect. Make your deflect roll versus the below attack rolls. if they get passed that, they must still hit your normal defense. So Gordy actually has two levels of protection. Usuing extra effort is fine as well. Again taking ten is possible as well. Spending your HP is also viable, but you will not have it for later stages. The targets must hit you 3 times. Part 1 -- Att +0 attack rolls part 1 (1d20=19, 1d20=16, 1d20=10) Part 2 -- Att +3 attack part 2 (1d20+3=20, 1d20+3=15, 1d20+3=6) Part 3 -- Att +6 attack part 3 (1d20+6=26, 1d20+6=21, 1d20+6=9) Part 4 -- Att +9 attack part 4 (1d20+9=17, 1d20+9=19, 1d20+9=26)

"Gordy, we've tested your ability to control your sonic powers as well as your ability use that power as a weapon. Now, you must show us your ability to protect yourself. You will face four different targets each with varying attack potential. The exercise is simple. Don't let them touch you. This is much more difficult than before as each target must touch three times. This eliminates those random lucky shots that occasionally occur. Good luck."
-
"Very Impressive, Gordy!" comes the voice of the headmaster again. "You've been holding out on us, haven't you. Take a moment to refresh yourself again before the we proceed to the next stage." Food and drink is again brought in for the young man to take at his pleasure as well as a chair for him to sit in and rest. Once he has had a few moments, the lights flicker signalling the start of the next stage. Workers come in and remove all of the materials that were brought in for his break, which was very curious as so far, the test area was no where near that section of the gym.

The room is a nice size. Teh desk withthe computer is in the center and along the right side of the room, is a number of book cases. The Quicker You Start, The Quicker You'll Finish
MBCE replied to Ecalsneerg's topic in The Boardwalk
Arrowhawk moved passed the down guard and kicked the door in. What he saw was obviously an office of some kind. A desk took up the center of the room, a computer sitting upon it. Papers were strewn on the floor near the desk as if someone had recently rushed to empty it. Slight movement to his right draws Arrowhawk's attention and he just catches a glimpse of the bookcase closing on what appeared to be some kind of hidden area. That was all the time he had to judge the interior of hte room as the two remaining guards rushed him from behind. Though manage to combine their attack perfectly, it still is not enough to get a hold on the hero. -
The Ghost turned around quickly at the sound of the voice behind him. He's found me! ran through is head as he expected to again feel the vigilante's weapon pouring into his body again. His eyes blinked in surprise as he realized that what stood behind him was not the bringinger of his death, but some other super come to the lower levels of the city. He blinked in surprise and then strained his vision beyond the figure looking for the hunter he knew was still behind him. "What am I doning her? I'm trying to get away from a killer, that's what." The ghost sounded worried and scared but his fear wasn't towards the newcomer that had decided to talk first. "This city is filled with all types of maniacs wanting to be the next Centurion. Are you another one?" The Ghost rubs his wounded arm but continues to look pass the figure before him. I need to keep moving here. Maybe I can get this guy here to help keep that Vigilante off my back.

You do realize you placed yourself directly behind someone trying to escape a hero, right? Surprising him like that can be dangerous to your health. I'll play with it though. Also, let me know when you switch to your ESP 12 power.

After Gordy had taken a short break, the lights flicker and Duncan's voice again comes over the speakers. "I hope you're rested, Gordy. This stage is a test of your ability to accurately target with your sound blasts. A number of targets will be placed within the room. All you have to do is hit them with your blast. There will be four parts to this test, just like the one before, they will become progressively more difficult. You have three chances to hit the targets. Good luck."
-
STAGE TWO Gordy faces a number of targets in which he must test his ability to aim and hit targets. Using his blast ability, he must again pass four differnt stages. Again, he has three chances per section. Taking 10 is always an option for any of the sections of the stage. So hitting the first two targets is simple. Part 1 -- DEF 10 [stationary target] Part 2 -- DEF 15 [longer distance] Part 3 -- DEF 20 [slow moving] Part 4 -- DEF 25 [actively avoiding] Looking forward to how you play out this section!

Hopefully it gives you some ideas where you could improve High note. Gives you some IC reasons for working on those areas. I liked how you wrote up the test by the way. It was very much the way I envisioned it to work out. I hope the next three stages go as smoothly. :D
-
Duncan's voice came over the loudspeaker. "You did very well, Gordy. Not many could have performed what you just did. You shouldn't let your performance here affect you in the wrong way. Try to think of this as new goals for you to reach." "We'll beign the next stage in a few moments. Have a drink and relax. Things will only get more an more difficult from this point on."

Okay, here are the questions that seemed strange to me.: Most of the above questions would help a player understand their characters in more detail, but it would almost never come into play in a thread. Chances of that happening is very rare. After rereading the questionaire, I see that a lot of the questions just serve to give a deeper understanding of the character you're playing. Also, it has a very decidely "hero" trend to the questions. As I play a villain, it made answering some of the questions difficult. Also, with questions that are negated by other answers, we can delete them in the list, right? Hopefully I'll get a chance to finish it in the next few days.

The only real problem I see with these variants are that they have very negative actions associated to them. Forcing or tricking someone into doing something for you only calls for revenge. Failure with any of these variants, should have the down side of the player receiving either an enemy or haivng their plans turned against them. Just think of how you would responde to someone blackmailing you into doing something. You'll be looking for a way out of the situation at every opportunity and if you get teh chance, would not hesistate to turn the tables.
