The group continues to make small talk as the bus travelled to the school, but after a short time, they finally come in view of the school. [Continues here.]
-
Here is the main and here is the OOC thread .
-
The small bus pulls up to the main double gates and you feel engulfed by the portico-styled gate tower. On the wall next to the entrance is a plaque that reads: “The Claremont Academy for the Gifted, Scientia Potentia Est†(“Knowledge Is Power†in Latin, the Academy’s motto). Floyd pulls beyond these gates and stops just passed them. "Okay boys and girls, welcome to Claremont Academy!" he says as he opens the doors. Just outside of the bus a young man and woman obviously falcuty stand waiting to greet you. The man stepped forward with a smile upon his face. "Welcome to the school, kids. My name is Leeroy Hawke and I'll be escorting you to the orientation portion of your enrollment." The woman who stood back smiles at the group as they exit the bus and waited for Leeroy to finish his introductions. "And I'm Stephanie Harcourt. I teach advance sciences here at the school and was asked to help with getting you all settled in to the school." Floyd yells at the two, "They're all yours. Everyone on the list made it to the pick up on time. We have some flying thing up there that needs to be dealt with though or it's going to cause a lot of unwanted attention. Also, this one only seems to speak Hindi. I suggest you set something up for him." Stephanie smiled at Floyd, "Thanks for the information. I'll make sure to have something in place for the language barrier." She turned to the group and looked them over. "Okay, first thing's first. Who does the flying ship belong to? We can't leave it up above the school so if you could land it in the parking lot, that should do well."

Here is the OOC thread. This is going to be a very short thread as it is just an introduction to the school and then all the people in the thread can do whatever posts they want in the school. Have fun!
-
Okay. Everyone's on the bus going to the school. I'll put up a thread tonight in Bayview and link it here. Right now, I don'T have the time but it shouldn'T be much. My invovlement will be fairly minot in that thread as it will basically serve as a way for the group to be enrolled. See you over there later tonight!

Floyd looked up as the rope came down and watched as he came down to the ground. As the young man gave his name, Floyd again checked his list. After a moment he smiles at the newcomer, "Yup. You're on the list as well. That makes it everyone here and fairly on time as well. Good. We've got a short ride to the school, so hop aboard and we can get out of here." Once everyone is loaded onto the bus, Floyd takes his seat and flips a switch on the bus. The air shimmers around the corner as the device that was hiding the group's presence cut off. Floyd looked over his shoulder at the others and quickly explained. "When we learned that a group of newbies were going to gathering here, we made sure to place a cloaking device in place to keep unwanted eyes away. The only ones able to even notice your presence there were people like yourselves. Normal folks would simply avoid the area, protecting all of your identities." Floyd turns back forward and put the bus in drive. "We'll be there shortly."

STAGE ONE Over a loud speaker, High Note can hear Headmaster Summers. "Gordy, you're going to begin your testing now. The first stage is simple. All you have to do is use your sound control to mimic the various tones and frequencies that you hear. There are four different parts to this test and each one will become more and more difficult to maintain. As this is simply a test of your capabilities, failure is not important. We simply want to judge where you presently are in your abilities, so don'T panic. If you don't get the tone right away, you have two more tries to get it right before we move on to the next section. You have a total of three attempts per section so don't worry too much about your performance. If you manage to match the sounds, then the room's light will flicker indicating that the next section will begin shortly. Ready?"
-
STAGE ONE This is going to be a very simple stage. Test the amount of control High note has of his sound control. He'll be called for to imitate various sounds and pitches perfectly. There are four parts to this test. All use his Sound control ability power. So use your power rank at each attempt. [1d20+power rank] Part 1 -- DC 10 [simple short bursts of sound] Part 2 -- DC 15 [tones become longer] Part 3 -- DC 20 [tones pick up speed] Part 4 -- DC 25 plus Concnetration check DC 15 to keep up with the fast pace and changing frequencies. You have three attempts per part. You can write up the complete stage one in one post any way that you wish, showing how easy or difficult each section is for High Note to perform. Please make sure to link your rolls as well. It should be fairly easy for you to pass all four sections. When that post has been completed, I'll put up stage two here.

Well then get him on the gorund and give his name so I can finish this up. I know a lot of people are dying ot get started on their other threads.
-
Floyd nodded in understand at teh young girl's confusion. "Yeah, it's a little confusing. The school has some connections with a number of different heroes throughout the city. They help us identify new possible students that need to get to the school. Some of these people that help can actually see the future and gave us the names of all the people who would be here to get picked up. So, that's how your name got on the list." Floyd gesture to the bus behind him, "Now get aboard as we wait for the last guy to show up before we get out of here. You all must be dying to get to the school."
-
Floyd checked the list again for the name she gave. It only took him a moment to find it on the list. "Here it is. Yup, you get a ride to the school as well. Hop on. There should be one more person showing up before we leave. If he's not here soon, we'll take off."
-
Not really need to do so. Since you're running the fight with Ghost, unless you plan on sending the two guys after Capricia, you can post away for Ghost's action. I'll keep doing Belphegor and Capricia will be on hold until a post comes up for her action after getting hit. Kind of split timing. Her story goes off camera frozen in time until she is ready to post. Otherwise, Ghost and Belphegor sits in limbo losing chances to post.

Floyd turns to the yong man and smiled as he let the other two named onto the bus. <> Again Floyd looked down at the clipboard searching for the name given to him. "Ananta....Ananta.. hmmm. There doesn't seem to be anyone listed by that name here." Floyd flipped the first page and scanned the next sheet. <> he said in way of explination. Floyd gave the young man a warm smile that conveyed that everything was going to be alright before he began checking the list in detail. After a few moments, he again jabbed down at the list before him. "There it is! They are really going to have to work on writing names on the list." Realizing that Ananta might not know exactly what he was saying, Floyd quickly revert to Hindi. <> Floyd looked at the little girl with the hold all in hand. "You're the last one here, my dear. Once you tell me your name, I can move on."
-
Floyd nodded his head and looked down at the clipboard in his hand. "Ionica....Ionica....Ahah!" he said as he jabbed his finger down on the clipboard. "Yup, you're on the list so hop on, Miss. You to, Mr. McCue. Once I've gotten the rest of these people checked out, we can get going." Floyd moves to the side to allow the two named teens to board the bus as he waited for the remaining two to give their names.

The Quicker You Start, The Quicker You'll Finish
MBCE replied to Ecalsneerg's topic in The Boardwalk
The northern guard man smiled as he saw the slight facial change upon the hero. "He's hurtting boys!" he yelled in encouragement as he fired again at Arrowhawk but the shot went wide. The remainig two men again moved in to grapple Arrowhawk, closing the distance further between the groups. Arrowhawk easily read teh movements of the first man and quickly sidestepped him. The second man, thinking that he had an opening, moved in for the kill, but Arrowhawk evade his assilant again. Now Arrowhawk was within seven feet of the northern guard which limited the man's ability to use his gun. Moving closer would force the guard to join the melee. -
Okay here we go. I envision five tests, the fifth one being the power stunt that you want to do. Each stage, I'll set the perameters here and give a description of the situation in the main thread. Each task will be based on different aspects of your character from combat to skills to powers to just plain ingenuity. If a stage pops up that you don't think would fit High note, then by all means let me know here and we can work around it. I don'T plan on having this last long at all. Most likely I'll give you all the details here and you can do all the rolls and write out the results in your own post. When you reach the fifth stage, your power stunt area, you can pretty much write that on your own as I don'T know what the stunt is yet. If you want me to help with that post, give me a heads up of the stunt here right after you complete the 4th stage. I hope this works out for you. And please feel free to let me know if you want to change how I'm doing things. This is your thread! I'll let you get in one more post before I set the first stage.
-
Duncan smiled and placed his hand on Gordy's shoulder. "It's a good thing that I asked!" Duncna lowered his hand, placing it on top of his cane. "Each test is different for each student. This is not simply a combat drill session as a lot of the students here at the school just do not have combat abilities. No, we like to get a thorough examination of the students." The headmaster truns from Gordy and begins moving away from him. He continues speaking as you gets closer to the door. "For you, we've devised a number of interesting tests for you to perform before you get to show us your new trick. I hope it's a good one by the way, though that part of the examination has only a fraction of the overall grade. In all, you have five tests to perform, your trick being the last test. Once I leave the room, the room will be set to begin. Good luck." As the last of his words floated on the air, Duncan Summers, headmaster of the school, stepped out of the gym leaving Gordy alone in the large area.

Okay, first a point about posts. When you make a post that invovles another character whether NPC or PC, please do not expect that they will simply allow you to do everything you say you will. Having Warren think he can simply walk onto the bus without Floyd stopping him is just wrong. If there is any chance of another character blocking the action, please leave your post open ended. "I attempt to walk onto the bus." rather than "I walk onto the bus, walk off the bus and grab the next person's hand." Another point is try not to do an interaction skill like bluff and then before getting the results, try the same skill again. At least wait to see if there was a success or failure. Remember, that not everyone moves at the same time to post quick responses. Remembering these fine points will ensure you have fun during your time here. Now, onto game points. Once everyone gives their names we can move on. The longer we wait for that to happen the longer it will take for this to finish up.
-
Floyd kept his frown upon his face as he listened to Warren's story but he did look over at the young woman he was trying to lead onto the bus. "Like I said. I need everyone to tell me their names before they can get on this bus. And Mr. McCue, I'd suggest you stop trying to talk for these others. Especially as it seems you could use some work on your presentation. Headmaster Summers is going to just love having to deal with you." Floyd then turned to face both Iconica and Lulluby waiting for their names.
-
Floyd frowned at Warren and it was clear that he wasn't buying the load Warren was selling, but he allowed the young man to deposit the bags on the bus as he turned to the Hindi boy that stepped up. In perfect Hindi, Floyd began speaking to the newcomer.
-
Even as Gordy called out his readiness, the headmaster of the school, Duncan Summers came into the gym, his cane keeping step with his movements. "So, Gordy. Before we begin, tell me exactly what it is you've heard about today's exercise. I know the students talk about their own little trials so I'd like to set the record straight before we begin. If you start with too many rumors and false information, it could hamper your performance and that is something we don't want to happen." (OOC: The OOC thread is here)

Here's the OOc for the thread. Exactly what are you looking for? Combat or something else?

Welcome to the board. I hope you enjoy the site. Just remember that a lot of personal work helps advance your characters a lot. Stay active and you should have fun.

Since I'm picking up the Claremont group about to head over to the school, I'll do it. Just start the thread in Bayview, where the school is located, and I'll be right along.
