Sammy walked into the Golden Calf with a frown upon his face. He hated the frilly gold plating covering the place. It just really reeked of bad taste and that was something, Sammy really didn't enjoy seeing. 'God I hate this joint. I wouldn't even be here if it wasn't for Lenny telling me there was some new competition in town. No body comes into my backyard trying to make score! I don't need the cops coming around asking too many questions.' Sammy moved deeper into the casino easily avoiding the two security guards on duty. He looked about at the various sections of the main floor, wondering where this new 'talent' was located. There were just too many people to tell exactly and even if Lenny had given him a description of the new comer, Sammy still most likely not be able to spot them if they didn't want to be found. No, there was only one way to find them and that was to simply trust in Lady Fortune. Sammy closed his eyes and took a deep breath before moving forward. Even with his eyes closed, he moved fairly confidently forward, turning just at the last moment to avoid colliding with a waitress or a slot machine. It wasn't until he reached the bar that Sammy opened his eyes and looked about. 'Hmmm, the bar. Guess I'll order a drink and see what might be around.' Sammy waved for the bartender and placed an order for a rum and coke. As he waited for the drink to arrive he glanced around at the people seated at the bar. Only two of the patrons caught his eye. A young college girl from the looks of things and her strangely dressed boyfriend. Sammy smiled at the couple when their eyes caught his. 'Great. Now kids are invading the casinos. What more can be going wrong in this world?' Sammy was wearing his usual black jeans and black t-shirt. A matching black backpack was hanging on one shoulder which he lowered carefully to the floor once his drink came. He turned around to get a look at the main floor again and scanned the area for the newcomer.

This thread is a listing of the various major events that have occured within South Freedom that would most likely go unnoticed. Players are encouraged to check this thread and to incorporate reactions to the events in their own thread. TIMELINE OF SOUTH FREEDOM THREAD COUNT BY AREA AREAS IN SOUTH FREEDOM The Boardwalk -- The boardwalk is lined with hotels and casinos. It runs along the shore of the South River between the Wallace Expressway and Route 4. Southside -- South of the Boardwalk is the Southside district, bounded by Route 4 and Route 6. Southside is mostly middle and lower-middle class, but growing pockets of poverty and crime have been eating away at the community for years. Lincoln -- West of Southside, Lincoln was built up in the 50s and 60s,. It is predominantly an African American community, with pockets of Hispanic and other ethnic groups. Many people who live here work along the Boardwalk and nearby places. Bayview -- East of Southside is Bayview. Bayview is a more affluent community than Southside; it goes from waterfront property with a spectacular view of the Centery Narrows and Riverside towards the higher ground near South Bay Road, known as the Bayview Heights. Port Regal -- Similar in many respects to North Bay, Port Regal is somewhat less affluent, many of its older homes and mansions turned into bed-and-breakfast inns. Port Regal clusters around Lake MacKenzie and the peninsulas jutting out into the bay. Lonely Point -- The most isolated point of land in Freedom, Lonely Point is named for its rocky and desolate terrain. There are sandbars and scrub plants, but little else along the narrow peninsula. It is home to a United States Naval station.

The IC thread has been opened. There you'll find what you learn of the building a few days before arrival. If there is anything special you want to do with the information, let me know with that thread. When making rolls for the thread, please use the tag [YJ] so I know which rolls to look at. There will be a mixture of minions as well as real opponents. When fighting real opponents, I'll make the toughness saves. Minions you can do yourself and incorporate the results in your post. I'll go over combat posting later when we get into that situation. Let's have a good game! :D

A FEW DAYS BEFORE THE MERCHANDISE ARRIVAL Northbay, home to the rich and powerful, has seen very little crime. The police make sure to patrol often and keep the area safe for their biggest donators. The heighten level of protection that the citizens within the area are granted makes it the ideal location to store contraband smuggled into the city. The address that Yamaguchi had given you turns out to be a small yacht holding warehouse near the docks area. The building is two storeys tall with three major entrances: A large loading doors to allow yachts to be brought in and out, a normal sized door next to the dock doors, and a normal sized door in back. Surprisingly, there are few windows in a position to see inside. the gorup counts three small windows large enough to let in light on the second floor. They seem to be large enough for a person to slip inside if need be. A quick look around the building shows that there are 2 guards at each of the small doors. A few men can be seen moving in and out of the building itself. They seemed dressed like dock workers or a few patroling guards. During your examination of the area, you count ten guards in total, with the four on patrol and six that seem to move about at any given time. On the roof, there is a skylight that offers a view of the inside of the warehouse. Stairs lead to the roof area and there you occasionally see a guard that checks the perimeter of the area at set times. During one of the cleared periods, you get a look within the warehouse through the skylight to see a large area filled with yachts in various degrees of completion. To the east end of the warehouse, you see a wall with double doors. A key pad is against the wall which restricts entrance into the back area. During your observation, you don't see anyone enter or exit the back area.

I'm back. Are you guys still willing to allow the Ghost to make an appearance?
-
Thanks for the heads up. I'll ahve to go over the source book again, but looking at the detailed map of the city, there seems to be docks in North Bay. I may have to adjust things slightly after checking up the source book, but it's going to happen here regardless of the minor details.
-
Is there anything special you want Ronin to check up on? Give me a list, in order of priority, of what you want to find out with a roll for each item. I'll go down the list and tell you how far you get as well as what you learn.
-
Just a quick note. I'll be away for the next four days or so on a trip. I most likely will not have access to a computer but who knows. When I get back, I'll start up the Yamaguchi job thread in North bay. Everyone have a good weekend!
-
I haven't forgotten about this thread, but I'll be away on vacation for the next four days. I don't want to get started and hold things up so will delay my appearance until I come back in RL. I hope the thread is still going strong by then.

Then he most likely wouldn't hire Badb then. He wants the merchandise more than anything else. If Badb is going to be clear that she's not going to be responsible about seeing the maerchandise arrives, he wouldn't really want her along. Now, if she says she'll go but keep her own mental picture of playing protection only, that's a different story. What he doesn't know won't hurt him. So Badb has the following options: --Accept the job as is and try to get the merchandise for Yamaguchi. --Accept the jon but keep her own agenda to herself. [Whatever that may be.] --Decline the job and still show up to beat up on whomever is there. [Always fun froma villain's persepctive.] --Decline the job and simply stay at home. There may be other options out there, but the above four are the ones I can see. Any of the first three will still allow Badb in the thread. The last one would effectively boot her out. I do want Badb in the thread, though. If you can find a reason why she would do the job it would be great.

Duncan smiled and walked her to the VIP area. The guard at the door was a large hulking man wearing the club's logo on a short sleeved shirt. "I want a private room, Jim," Duncan said smoothly. Jim looked at Duncan for a moment and then to Megan before smiling at Duncan. "Of course, Mr. Maguire. Room five is free with a view of the dance floor. You'll have all the privacy you want in there." The bodyguard opened the door and let teh two into the back area. Behind the door was a lone corridor that once the door was closed, very little of the music could be heard other than than the lowered tones coming from wall mounted speakers. the corridor was long with various doors on either side of it. Duncan slowly led the way down the corridor until he reached a red door with the number 5 on it. "Here we are," Duncan said as he opened the door. The room beyond the door was small with a love seat to the side, a small table, two large chairs, and a large glass window that looked out onto the dance floor. Megan realized that it was one of the sections of the wall mirrors just behind the dance floor. The view was of the various people dancing to the music as well as a partial view of the DJ booth. The entrance was in clear sight, though. "I often use these rooms to relax and get away from teh groupies that could hound me out there," Duncan began as he walked over to a wall switch. He flipped the switch and the music playing outside started pumping into the room. The noise level was just right to carry on a conversation without shouting but still enough to enjoy. "We can order drinks from here as well. They'll bring us anything we want." Duncan moved over to the love seat and sat down. He patted the space next to him, inviting her to join him.

hmmmm, I am sorry about that, but I find it difficult to even get motivated with this thread. When we started, you wanted someone to play an NPC for a possible boyfriend for Velocity. I understood that, but as this was your thread, I didn't want to force interaction. I felt that I shouldn't have to do that. Now, I really don't see much point in my continued participation if I'm forced to take the lead in a thread that has little merit for myself. I'll post but I do hope that you take the lead for the thread as it was one that you wanted to play.

Here are the details to the job as the villains know. ------- Yamguchi waits for the three to sit down before speaking again. "The job is simple. A competitor of mine is importing some merchandise into Freedom city by way of ship into North Bay. The containers are large and I don't want that merchandise to get where it's supposed to be going. If you're willing to do the job, I'd like you to make sure that those containers get to me. I will pay you handsomly for the job, but pricing as well as more detail will come to those that are willing to learn more." Yasmaguchi looks at Ironhide. "My competitor has ties to Russia. For the moment that is all I'm willing to say on the matter. For this job, that's all you need to know about my competitor. If you have a fear for getting invovled with Russia, then you may wish to back out now before I give too much details." Yamaguchi reaches down and slowly removes a breifcase. He places it on the table and opens it for the three to see. "For this job, I can give you each three hundred thousand dollars up front and another three hundred thousand after the job is done." Inside the briefcase are packets of hundred dollar bills. Yamaguchi smiled broadly at Badb and templed his fingertips together before him. "Of course. The merchandise will be guarded. Once it has been brought in the warehouse, my competitor will have his men watching it. Of course," he says as he leans back, "I would hate for you to leave without reducing his work force in anyway possible. The job does not need to be silent. On the contrary, I want it loud. I want my competitor to know that he was hit and hit strongly." Yamaguchi smiles at Badb's response. "Good. I'm glad to see you're aboard. Ad for the first portion, I give you a small part of it now. I was unsure as to how many would arrive today to take the job so was not prepared to paid out to everyone. It will be cash. The remaining portion and the second half, will be paid when the job is complete. We can arrange to have it in any form that you wish. I will just need the details." Yamaguchi looks at the others and nods his head. "Now, let me give you the details. In a warehouse in North Bay, my competitor is going to be storing a large shipment of Machine tools from Russia. Of course, it is not the actually machine tools that I want. It is the small hidden boxes within ten of the crates. Each box is about the size of a briefcase with a bar code on top to identify it. All of the bar codes are the same so once you haveo ne, you'll know you have the others as well." "The contents of these boxes are very delicate so please be careful while handling them. My competitor will have a number of his men watching the area so it should be more than enough fun for you to enjoy. However, there is a time limit on the job. Once your presence has been detected, you'll have ten to twenty minutes before he sends reenforcements. Also, there's a chance that a pesky hero or two may be in the area, so watch out. You can have your fun, but the main job is to get me those ten boxes. Any questions?" Yamaguchi shrugs his shoulders. "I do not know. The merchandise is important enough to have very heavy security, but I doubt that it will be his complete force. It's one of the reasons why I'm offering so much for the job. I know he will have security, but not what." Yamaguchi turns to Exile and smile. "The ship will arrive in a few more days. He'll be moving the merchandise within a week's time so you had better do your preparations quickly. The boxes all weigh about 5 pounds each but they can not be teleported. Their contents are very delicate and strange movements like teleporting may upset them greatly. They would become useless to me as well as very dangerous to you. Once you have the merchandise, bring it to me here." Yamaguchi hands over a small strip of paper with an address in Lincoln." ---------- Any preparations for the job will be handled off camera here. So if there is anything you want to do before the action starts, ask away.
-
Okay, the OOC thread is up for Yamaguchi's job. WE'll start doing the off camera studd there before making the main thread. Any preparations you want to make before the job, we'll handle there. So head on over and we'll get started there.
-
Yamaguchi nods his head. "In a nutshell, yes. Very simple in all honesty, but I know that your time for something so simple would need to be compensated greatly. That's why the large payment." Yamaguchi turns to Exile and smile. Once you have the merchandise, bring it to me here." Yamaguchi hands over a small strip of paper with an address in Lincoln.
-
Just got a little busy. Sorry about that. going ot answer those questions right away.
-
The Ghost nodded in quiet approval even as the effects of the taser had begun to wear off. "RQ, let's get to the merchandise!" The villain ran towards the stairs, knowing that it would lead them to the prize of the night. Ghost didn't wait to see if Red Queen would follow or not as he knew that time was against them and even Lady Fortune had little power over time.
-
Yamaguchi shrugs his shoulders. "I do not know. The merchandise is important enough to have very heavy security, but I doubt that it will be his complete force. It's one of the reasons why I'm offering so much for the job. I know he will have security, but not what."
