  1. I'd be fine with that, EP. No ideas are leaping to mind just yet, but it sounds like both MG and Levi do regular patrolling, so worse case scenario they could both respond to the same threat, but maybe we could mix it up somehow? Maybe they both are attending some event in their civilian identities when trouble erupts; as a budding journalist, Casey could theoretically be anywhere working on a story for a school assignment.
  2. Notice check: 1d20+10=15 Nooooope! First Toughnes Save: 1d20+12=22 Bam! Second Toughness Save: 1d20+12=30 BAM!
  3. Very sad news indeed; he is just amazing.
  4. I think Miracle Girl might also be a good fit for a furure thread with Tristan.
  5. "Well, at least you didn't unbalance the local economy by handing out pure silver like Edge did," Lynn chuckled, careful not to use the real names of heroes not present. Then she turned to Asli and shrugged. "I would set something in place, if I were you, just in case; the magic gig is odder than most, and therefore less predictable. I went missing for three years this last time, so you better believe I now have things in place if I go again." For her part, Gretchen had been silent for a while, hearing the advice others had offered as she traced lines in her mashed potatoes with her fork. Suddenly she placed it carefully next to her plate and stood up. "I'll be right back." She looked to her employer. "Send me your WiFi password?" Lynn nodded. "Sent." "Thanks." Gretchen left the table and headed for the guest room, calling over her shoulder, "Continue dining!" The hostess smiled in mild embarrassment as she gently tapped her plate with her fork. "She's...she'll be right back."
  6. Lynn shook her head. "Nah, it's all good; gave me and Ranger Ted a chance to catch up! Bill and I used to come here all the time." The ranger nodded and smiled. "Well you two have a good hike. And I'm sorry for your loss, Miss Epstein." The changeling smiled wistfully. "Thank you, Ted. Alright, these boots were made for hikin'; let's head on in." Lynn chose a nice two mile loop and they headed off; with the very mild winter Freedom was seeing, it looked a bit more like fall than winter, with the bare trees and damp leaves squishing underfoot. Once they were clear of the front gate, she sighed and shook her head. "Ah, separation anxiety; so not fun! Nothing tears at your heartstrings like a kid who doesn't want his mommy to leave. What school is he starting at? And speaking of which, I need to see me some pictures of that adorable little imp, stat!"
  7. I haven't touched that concept in weeks, and to be honest I might not any time soon. Seeing as I'll be on Academic Warning the whole Spring semester, I'm not super-eager to drastically increase my post load.
  8. http://orokos.com/roll/357869 Another 18? My recent string of unimpressive rolls continues! DC 25 vs wha-THAM!
  9. It was simply a matter of physics, or rather the painful place where physics and biology meet. In the course of her short superhero career, Casey had already been shot a few times, and while it could be very painful, it very quickly subsided. What she hadn't taken into consideration was that while a lion's bite wasn't as hard as a bullet's impact, it affected a much larger area and last much longer. So when the two lionesses buried their razor-sharp teeth into her left shoulder and right thigh, applying close to a thousand pounds per square inch, Casey's scream was as much one of shock as it was pain. Enraged at her own arrogance, the blonde bruiser shot her elbow back into the chest of the great cat to her right as hard as she could, hoping to return tbe favor.
  10. You're not doing a post to describe the lions' attack?
  11. http://orokos.com/roll/356695 Second Toughness save: 1d20+12=19 Fuuuuuuuudge! I thought I'd at least split the difference! Alright, I'm gonna bite the bullet on this one and allow both hits; I never wanted her to be invulnerable, just really, really tough, so that's what we're gonna go with for now.
  12. And she's actually been hit twice, right? Grrrrrrrrrrr! If she accepts the hit and saves her HP, how bad off is she? Soooooo regretting that attempted Takedown; next update, I'm buying her the feat.
  13. Wait, doesn't the Penetrating need to meet or exceed the Impervious for the effect to get through? Edit: If it's getting through and it's only a matter of missing her save by 2 points, she'll take the hit. She might need that other HP later.
  14. http://orokos.com/roll/356518 Dang it! Do they have enough Penetrating to get through Casey's Impervious 6?
  15. At the mention of submitting a tape, Gretchen's cheeks went a little pink and she self-conciously brushed her hair out of her eyes. "Oh, I don't know if they'd...my stuff is really basic and stripped down. Mostly I just rip out stuff when I'm pissed off." "You should send them something," offered Lynn as she continued passing food around. "At the very least, you could do some session work, get on some cool tracks, y'know? Muscle Shoals, baby!" "Yeah, maybe..." The barista nodded as she poked her food around a bit with her fork like an awkward teen. In response to Asti's question, the changeling shrugged. "Oh, it's the parallel Earth my late husband came from. Of course, they just call it 'Earth'; 'Otherworld' is just my nickname for it." Once she saq that everyone else's plate was full, she waved a hand over her own, and large portions of food appeared on it, minus the dishes her guests had brought, which she hadn't tasted yet and thus couldn't accurately simulate. Now finally able to dig in like everyone else, a subtle tension left her shoulders as she continued. "Bascially it was a lot like our Earth up until the end of the 19th Century; then something weird happened." She took a swig of beer to wash down her glamoured food before continuing, gesturing with her hands to shape her thoughts. "It's like...culturally very little changed after that, but technology went into overdrive. So you have guys tipping their hat to you and calling you 'ma'am', and then checking the time on their holographic pocketwatch. Kinda like steampunk. Speaking of which..." She held up a hand to block her view of the top of Joe's head. "I knew it! We've been to a parallel together! Remember, steampunk London in perpetual winter?" She grinned and jerked a thumb over her shoulder towards an intriguing portrait of her Grimalkin identity over the fireplace. "See? I still have the painting Blake did of me!"
  16. D'oh, I hate when that happens! Should I edit my post?
  17. Okay, this worked once before, so let's try it again; spending one of her two HP to give Casey Takedown Attack for one round, then taking 10 on their Minion behinds! So that's a 20 on the roll, DC 25 Toughness effect ; buh-buh-buh-BAM!
  18. Obviously something wasn't right here; beyond the fact that there were several lions commiting a frickin' robbery, their behaviour didn't seem very animal-like, especially the very bored male. Animal control? Shapeshifting? Casey didn't know the exact reason, but it was starting to annoy her. To heck with this guy, she thought to herself; let's see how confident he is without the rest of his posse. In a flash, Miracle Girl lunged at the nearest female lion, prepared to strike like a whirling dervish of Taekwondo.
  19. "Cool, I'll see you there. Later!" Lynn answered a few emails while sending a thought her assistant's way. -Hey, Gretch! I'm stepping out for a bit to hang with my friend Taylor; you and Kiki got the store covered?- -Uh, yeah, we've got this. Please do me a favor, though; can you at least be seen physically leaving the store? It makes it so much easier to lie about your whereabouts than if you're inexplicably hiding in your office all day.- -Ooh, good point; I'll try and remember that!- -Just keepin' it real.- After making a big show of leaving, Lynn appeared just under half an hour later at the front gate to the Wharton State Forest, wearing cowboy boots, comfy jeans, a red flannel shirt and olive green down vest. A black Stetson was tipped back on her head, and a large Thermos hung from a shoulder strap. She was making small talk with the ranger on duty as she waited for Taylor to arrive.
  20. Oh I forgot about the truck! Oh well, moving forward. I'm assuming the Illusion is why no one in the street was aware of thr robbery?
  21. From the album: Heritage's album

    Possible new look for Gretchen.
