  1. http://orokos.com/roll/355775 Initiative: 1d20+9=17 Let's throw in first DC 20 Intimidation check, too, courtesy of her SM.
  2. http://orokos.com/roll/355762 1d20+12=16 See, this is what you get when you're not sneaky, Grim! DC 22 Toughness save if that actually hits.
  3. It sounds like Grim and Kingsnake were close enough for her to get there in one round, but if that's not the case, I can edit my post. Let me know if I should go ahead and roll to hit.
  4. Grim nodded as the poor schmuck explained the situation; yeah, innocent civilians always got it the worst in these damn cults. gently patting him on the cheek, the changeling rolled off of him and got to her feet. "Okay, buddy, you need to get up and basically run away from here as fast as you can; pretend you're Orpheus leaving the Underworld, and that looking over your shoulder might kill you, because for all you know it will." The she held out her hand and offered him a conjured bit of gauze with soothing lotion on it. "This is for-" She indicated her own cheeks. "Sorry 'bout that; you should be fine. Now get outta here." Once the former flunky was out of sight, Grim quickly followed Kingsnake's trail, where she the 'boss fight' already in progress. Through the smoke, it sounded like Mr Black and White was occupied with the crazy dude, which left her with the crazy chick; following her ears, she quickly made her way over to the female cultist, offering her a cheerful wave. "Hi, I'm here to disrupt your twisted ritual!" And with that, she took at swipe at her with her claws.
  5. Miracle Girl nodded decisively. "Okay, let's do this." She waved her hand vaguely at the back door. "If this is locked, I'm guessing you can...like, huff and puff and blow it down?" She grinned, slightly embarrassed by her silly joke, then gave Aníbal a quick thumbs up before taking to the air, flying over the top of the building to land directly in front of the store. Striding confidently in the front door, she cleared her throat and crossed her arms. "Wow; this is more cats than I've ever seen outside of YouTube. If you don't want to get your fur all mussed up, I suggest you drop everything and get the heck out!"
  6. Casey laughed and shook her head. "No, no way! This Is only our first pageant; we don't have skills to pull off something like that!" Then she turned to Daphne and pointed at her notebook. "Write that down for later; we might have to learn to do that for next time!" Turning back to their first 'interviewee', the blonde wannabe journalist smiled. "Hi, you must be Natalia! I'm Casey Blankenship and this is, uh, Missy, and we're students at Claremont Academy; we're using this opportunity to do a class project on the new face of teen pageants, and we were hoping to get the chance to talk to the other girls about their experiences in the pageant world, and find out a little more about them. We'll be sure to send you a clipping!" As she spoke, Casey used her IR and microscopic vision to check Natalia for any signs of inhumanity; she felt a bit guilty about all of this, but she knew their work today was important.
  7. Travel by backpack was not particularly exciting or comfortable, but their options were limited as time was of the essence. With some difficulty, Grim had portaled her phone into the bag before they'd left the States, and had a rather odd conversation with Lance that confirmed her fears: the mirror behind her office was broken, and Gretchen was gone. Staring blankly at the (to her) giant phone, the tiny heroine felt far from heroic; in her misguided attempt to protect her assistant (and increasingly friend), she'd only managed to put her in God knows what kind of danger. The very though of it made her want to throw up. Nonetheless, torturing herself did nothing to help Gretchen or Merge; they were now actively pursuing the one avenue of rescue they had, and she would do everything in her power to help them both. And at least she'd had the satisfaction of dropping that bastard the Duke like the little turd he was; that had to count for something. Once she knew they we getting close, Lynn unzipped the bag from inside and popped out, eager to get her first look at Tibet with her own eyes, and the stunning view of near-unearthly beauty almost made her forget the dire circumstances that brought her and Sam halfway around the world. You didn't need to visit other planets to have your breath taken away by natural beauty! Once they spotted a familiar face, Grim returned to normal size and dropped to the ground in a crouch; was this the 'original' Merge, and all the others colorful copies? It made a certain kind of sense. She rose to her feet and approached the young woman to shake her hand. "It's nice to meet you, Nikki. And please tell me there's more of that coffee, because I could really use a cup."
  8. The blonde teen felt much more comfortable doing heroics now that she'd had time to suit up; she felt kind of exposed with her glasses of in civilian dress, which was kind of weird when you thought about it. Casey looked around, her eyes wandering over the various academic and inspirational posters on the walls, not quite sure what to say with this time-stranded version of Triakosia. Finally, she cleared her throat and gestured at the room around them. "So this is where I go to school; it's a school for special kids like you and me. Do they have anything like that in your Freedom?" She really hoped they did; the thought of going through normal high school with superpowers made her sad. Who would you talk to about the bizarre events of your day? How could you best learn to use your gifts without qualified adult supervision?

  10. Lynn shrugged and wiped her face with a conjured gym towel . "Hey, it's no big deal; I've travelled by backpack before." She waved a hand, and a truly ridiculous girl's backpack appeared; it was bright pink and sported bulbous screaming anime versions of both Grim and Starlight's faces on it; Anime! Grim's word balloon said 'I make myself the smallest!', while Sam was shrieking 'I am always fly fastest!' Then the changeling shrunk down to pixie size, allowing the towel to drop and vanish in a puff of vapor when it hit the floor. Hovering in front of her employee's face, her gossamer wings ruffling Sam's hair, tiny Grim put her fists on her hips and grinned. "Alright, pick that up and I'll climb in! And remember you can fly pretty high, since I really don't breath or get cold."
  11. Lynn groaned and covered her eyes in sympathy. "Oh God, the 'Fortess Bedroom' years; you are in for a bumpy ride, my friend! Soooo many arguements through that door, though for me, it was Ruthie, not Zach; he was just a little dumpling." She sat up and peered at the antique clock on the wall. "Uh, if now is okay? How 'bout we meet somewhere in half an hour, give us time to tidy up and put out any fires. Is Wharton okay, or is there somewhere else you'd rather go? We could meet by the front gate, then hit one of the hiking paths." As she spoke, the elfin brunette was quickly scanning emails to see if there was anything that required her immediate attention.
  12. Casey nodded as she ran her fingers through her hair; how would her dad approach this? She also thought back to her classes at Claremont, and what she'd seen the Hispanic hero do when they'd last worked together. "Okay, how about this; unless they're some kind of super-lions, they're probably not going to be able to hurt me, so I will attempt to draw their fire and make myself as visible a target as I can, and hopefully drop a few." Then she pointed at Anibal. "If I remember right, your air control is pretty good; can you somehow quickly and safely get the people outside? Once we know the civilians are safe, you can join me for some kitty buttkicking." The blonde powerhouse shrugged. "How's that sound? I mean, I know my dad says 'no plan survives contact with the enemy', but at least as a start?"
  13. Lynn blinked for a few seconds, then smiled. "Wow, that was pretty cool! You're-" "DJ Eclectic," Gretchen said with certainty. She smiled a half smile and nodded. "Thought I recognized you. Your s### is tight; if you're ever looking to collaborate-" Lynn rolled her eyes. "Oh, here comes the card... Her assistant shot her an annoyed look as she indeed fished a business card out of her wallet. "It's called 'networking', and all musicians do it." She placed the card on the table in front of Asli and shrugged. No ReGretz Productions Gretchen McDaniels Vocals/Multi-instrumentalist/Producer "Vocals, composition...I play piano, synths...acoustic, electric, bass...violin, cello..." "Mandolin... "I do play mandolin." Lynn just smiled, shook her head and took a swig of cider. "Just shut up and be thankful so we can eat." Gretchen looked at everyone. "I already was, I told my shooting story. You're the one holding us up." The changeling laughed as she wiped her mouth with her hand. "Alright, fair enough." She paused as she collected her thoughts. "I am thankful for...all the families in my life; my mom and dad and sister...the one I left behind on Otherworld...and the one I'm building at this store. I'm thankful for the chance to make a difference in people's lives, and to know so many people who do the same; may we all accomplish even more next year." She nodded firmly. "Amen. Alright, let's eat this s###! You guys must be starving." Lynn began serving food, passing around plates, and carving the turkey with impressive grace; it soon became apparent she was putting nothing on her own plate.
  14. Casey turned at the rush of wind, and smiled nervously at the air controller as she brushed the hair out of her eyes; she kept her voice low and hunched forward slightly, subconsciously indicating the need for discretion. "Oh, hey, El Hurucan! We've got a weird situation here." She pointed at the store. "It looks like a robbery and potential hostage situation, but not like any I've seen before." Her face scrunched up in disbelief. "They've got lions in there, a whole pack! Wait, no, that's right, it's a pride of lions." She shook her head and waved her hands. "Anyway, I'm not sure the best way to go in; I was thinking of trying to sneak in the back, y'know, all stealthy so the lions don't have a chance to maul anyone, but-" She indicated the back door and shrugged. "I don't really know much about burglar alarms or security systems, and I don't want to set any of them off."
  15. That's a goooood question! Maybe it's best if she talks with Anibal first, since she's not quite sure what's she's looking for
  16. For the record, thanks to the marvelous HGM, Casey now has Skill Mastery in Notice and Search with 20s on both checks
  17. Casey loved the holidays; her family had several traditions revolving around them, and she cherished the time she got to spend with her relatives. Her birthday fell two days after Christmas, and her parents were always good about not short-changing her on gifts because of that; she typically only got one gift from her folks on the 27th, but it was always special. The extended Blankenship clan shared a large cabin in Aspen, which meant the holidays also included a reunion and lots of time on the slopes, two things Casey truly loved. Then New Year's was always spent with her mom's family in Miami, which meant swimming, windsurfing and other warm weather activities. But the blonde heroine knew she was blessed, and always tried to squeeze in some volunteer work this time of year as well. Right now, she was cramming in a little minute shopping in Freedom before flying back home home (literally) on Christmas Eve, carrying several shopping bags by their handles in her free hand; so far, it was unseasonably warm and rainy on the East Coast this holiday season, but at least all the lights and shoppers made for a festive atmosphere. The native Coloradan was looking forward to seeing lots of white puffy snow, and was discussing this very topic with her big brother Josh via cellphone. "Well, I was checking the snow report this morning, and it looked like we're going to have some amazing powder, so...yeah...oh, you wish! I was a way better 'boarder even before my little 'accident'...Oh really?...You're....Josh, you're insane...In! Sane! Seriously...Oh, you want to make it interesting?...Alright, alright, how 'bout this: the loser buys the winner hot chocolate, on demand, for the rest of the weekend...done...done. Oh, you are so going to regret-" But then a flicker of movement caught her eyes, and Casey paused to lower her glasses and peer at the jewelry store across the street. "Are those...lions?" Then she remembered her brother on the phone. "Oh, sorry, I'm...I have to go...yeah, work just got crazy...yep, lions...tons of 'em...okay, love you, too! See you tomorrow!" She hung up the phone, and looked around for a place to change and stash her presents. "Where can I...oh, there we go!" The teen powerhouse found a dark, dry corner in a nearby alley, where she changed in the blink of an eye. Seconds later, Miracle Girl landed at the back of the jewelry store, near the loading entrance, and quickly looked around for any windows or doors she could (hopefully) force open without setting off an alarm; she'd been working on her stealth, and hoped to avoid a loud, obvious entrance.
  18. You know what, let's do it; if my edits aren't done by the time we get to rules stuff, so be it.
  19. Intimidate check: 1d20+10=29 Knowledge: Arcane Lore: 1d20+10=28 Yes! Grim is makin' with the scary.
  20. "Well after my grandpa died in 2003, my Aunt Deb ran the store for a few years before his lawyers made her close it," Lynn offered from the kitchen. "She was disputing the terms of his last will, where he left it to me on my twenty-second birthday. So yeah, depending on when you went to school, it might have been open." "Dum dum dee dum, dum dee dum, dum dee dum." To the tune of 'The Emperor's March', Gretchen majestically floated the impressive bird into the dining area with her Ring of Power; there was no glow of energy or any other visible signs of magic, just a twenty-four pound turkey riding a floating vintage china platter. She made whooshing noises as she slowly spun It around and executed a perfect landing in the middle of the card table. Then Lynn returned, carefully balancing six dishes and a basket of biscuits in her arms, a truly impressive feat that seemed like no big deal to her. "As for me, I've been offworld for three years; just got back in May 2014 and reopened the store. Mmm, those smell delicious! I'll have to try a bite." With everyone's help, she laid out the rest of the food: fluffy mashed potatoes, bread and sausage stuffing, thick gravy, sweet potato casserole, green beens and cranberry chutney. Along with everything everyone else brought, it was truly a mouthwatering spread. Lynn beamed as she looked around the table and spread a paper napkin over her lap. "I'm so happy you all could make it, and to have you as guests in my home. Does anyone want to say grace, or any other prayers?"

  22. Okay, I think I'm up and I don't think i had Grim do anything beyond her capabilities, but let me know what rolls to make.
  23. Oh God, Grim groaned internally as she slipped from room to room of the big house. They're frickin' occultists, aren't they? Greaaaaaat! Then it sounded light the whole compound woke up and opened fire; sounded like Bastion and Brandish were playing their role to the hilt. The changeling decided it was time to get some answers; she waited until she was alone with a guard to grab him, hold her claws to his throat to silence him, and then drag him off into the shadows for a little questioning. Now that she attacked, she would be fully visible, but that was usually better for intimidation purposes anyway. "Hey there, big fella," she murmured as she knelt on his chest, tracing light red lines on his face with her claws. "Mind telling me why the head honchos want with Malice's suit?"
  24. It took several seconds for the reality of the smartphone to penetrate the fog of rage swirling around inside Grim's skull, but she finally managed to answer it just before it went to voicemail. "What? Merge, is that you?" she panted as her eyes darted about the warehouse; there was still a chance it was one of the Duke's tricks. She blinked a few times and shook her head, trying to clear it."Tibet? Uh, maybe." She held the phone to her chest and looked over to Sam as she ran her fingers through her short, spiky hair. "What was that you said earlier about teleporting to the moon?"
  25. I can post, just not everyday, and I will have blackout periods; besides, I'm on break until 1/11.
