  1. Lynn nodded, then turned to her two passengers, clasping her hands and grinning. "Alright, welcome about Air Grimalkin! I'm just gonna open up the passenger area and get you situated." She traced a large circle in the air, on its side, revealing her Vault beyond; as always, it was a dimly-lit warren with a low roof of intertwined roots and a floor of soft pine needles. The air was fresh and smelled of pine and loam. With a wave of her hand, a pair of soft but firm mats appeared on the floor, similar to ones from Lynn's gymnastics day. "Please watch your heads as you enter the cabin, and have a safe and comfortable flight." Once her passengers were squared away, Grim closed the Vault door, shrunk down to pixie size, and dove into Naomi's pocket. "Ready for takeoff!"
  2. Sorry for the long delay between posts! If any of what I wrote was inappropriate, let me know and I can edit it; normally at this point, Casey would use her Girl Scout first aid training to check her pulse, airway, etc.
  3. "I don't know; maybe we should check on Miss A first? We haven't heard from her; maybe her double was for real dangerous, and she's still fighting it." She followed after Argonaut, using her IR to look for any traces of her passage; with flight speed, she soon caught up with the former Omegadrone, and was horrified to see one of her idols crumpled on the ground. "Oh God, she's down! Argo, what happened?" Without hesitation, she flew to her side and began to check her vitals and look for signs of trauma.
  4. Okay, I'm gonna start this up. If people aren't as interested in the creative side of setting up the maze, feel free to come in later; I promise not to make the first section drag out too much. Also please note that this is still kind of an experiment, so I really hope it doesn't suck
  5. The trick to catching falling people while flying was NOT just racing to meet them in mid-air; Vigilant made this very clear to his daughter, as he'd apparently broken a falling pilot's ribs that way when he was first starting out. You actually had to fly slightly above them, reach an apogee, and then drop down, matching their speed as you caught them. This greatly reduced the stresses to the victim's body and insured a full recovery. Casey did exactly as she'd been taught, easily snatching the unconscious woman out of the air as she gradually reduced her speed and brought them down for a safe landing in a Port Regal park. Clearly she was a super of some kind, though it was unclear how she passed out. The blonde powerhouse smiled down at her charge as she laid her on the grass. "Hey there, sleepyhead! You okay? Any injuries?" She gave the young woman a quick once-over, looking for any visible wounds.
  6. I sort of assumed we already talked to them; Casey would not have left Naomi out to dry
  7. Casey's face lit up in a wide grin at the mention of free food. "Sure, thanks! I'd love to!" Then she grimaced with embarrassnent as she tucked the offered card into one of her belt pouches. "Although I should warn you, I eat like a freaking horse." She grinned and waved goodbye to the handsome Latino super, then chuckled at Naomi's concern about her father. "Don't let him scare you; he's just a big pussycat!" She looked over her shoulder back at the terminal building. "Who's waiting for me at the breakfast buffet. He'll drive me back to school in his company car; it's bulletproof, so he might not freak out. Seeya, Seahawk!" And with that, she took to the air and was gone.
  8. So even though she couldn't see them, Gretchen was finally able to track down the three voices and float behind them, doing everything in her power to stay quiet; she held her breath as long as possible, then sipped tiny gulps of air. She practically swam through the foliage, arms at her sides to avoid as moving as many branches as she could. She went over Grim's advice on shadowing bad guys in her head. Don't attack, even though you reeeeealy want to; gather intel, bide your time, strike when the moment is right.
  9. Lynn nodded crisply, then returned to full size and hopped to her feet. "So, any extra gear we want to bring? Tear gas, brass knuckles, caltrops? I can stuff a lot of stuff in my Vault; heck, I could probably fit an extra crewman or two in there, depending on how much gear they bring. Five hundred pounds is my max load." Her uniform was back to matching the rest of the carrier's crew. It's too bad they could leave right now; as keyed up as Grim was, the next thirty minutes were gonna crawl...
  10. Casey was tired; not so much from the physical activity of the dramatic plane crash as from the emotional toll. Despite their best efforts, the bad guys got away clean and two men were dead. But then she forced herself to remember the good news, that without the trio's timely intervention, everyone else on that plane would probably be dead, too. That's how her father always talked about combat, and he- "Oh God...I have to call Dad." But first, a debriefing. Miracle Girl was happy to speak with the AEGIS agents; she even recognized one of them from a company picnic, and snuck her a little wave. She went over every detail she could recall, and after that draining experience, she finally made her way over to where Seahawk and El Hurican were talking. "Hey." She offered them both a weary smile, then noticed Naomi's defeated expression. "We did work today, despite those monsters getting away; if we hadn't made it onto that plane, there might not have been any survivors."
  11. Casey could use her microscopic and IR vision to see if there's anything odd about the boy.
  12. This was all a lot for Casey to take in; the Fens were by far the roughest place she'd ever been, and the sights and smells were all a bit overwhelming. With great effort, she reminded herself that these were just people, who had the same basic needs and desires as anyone else: food, shelter, friendship, love. When Henry asked his question, she laughed nervously. "Pretty much, yeah! Hi Henry, I'm Casey." Then she dropped into a crouch and offered her hand for the scruffy dog to sniff and lick. "Hi Rufus! Who's a good boy?" She scratched behind his ears, feeling his tangled, matted coat, countless flea bites and signs of malnutrition, and the animal lover in her died a little; she wanted to fly off with him, take him to the vet and a groomer and a new life far from these mean streets. But would that be right? Owner and dog clearly loved each other, and separating two such true companions was just as cruel. Plus she read somewhere that homeless people were often beat up by street toughs for money or even just for fun; Rufus might save Henry's life someday, if he hadn't already. So Casey just kept scratching the attention-loving pooch behind the ears, smiling warmly as tears welled up in the corners of her eyes. "Good boy...good boy..."
  13. Looking at the science behind blowing out a candle, it looks like Super-Breath actually could work; the force of the air blast deprives the fire of the heat needed for combustion.
  14. "Sure, I'll take the little darlings!" An actual smile crossed Casey's face as she easily took the two carriers and dropped them off into seperate rafts; they were a pleasant distraction from the strain of wrangling frightened passengers into the rescue craft. But then their previously unconcious prisoner suddenly came to, and to the blonde heroine's horror, she set the fuel slick on fire! "No!" she yelled in frustration; all of their hard work could not be in vain! Thanks to Seahawk, the plane and its fuel tanks were starting to settle into the bay, but it might not be in time! Floating over the blaze, Miracle Girl quickly figured out what El Hurican was trying to do; she took a long deep breath, then blew a super-focused stream of air at the flames, rapidly cooling them as she slowly turned her head from side to side. She'd never tried this before, so she hoped it worked!
  15. Yeah, I guess that's fair, or powers and magic vs tech; might need to broaden that descriptor in a future edit... Notice check: 1d20+10=22
  16. If this was a combat thread, pffft, hell no, but for a weird social/creative collaboration thing this should be fine. I am locking it up as of now, though. My weekend will be pretty darn busy, so look for this to start early next week.
  17. This may sound silly, but wouldn't her Super-Breath be CO2? I mean, she IS exhaling.
  18. Okay, I think based on her read of the situation, Casey is going to use her Super-Breath on the fire to make a passage wide enough for El Hurican to get the rafts through. Any rolls needed?
  19. TK and, well, TK? Can you two confirm If Crimson Tiger and Miss Grue are definitely In for the thread?
  20. Hmm; can Miracle Girl use her Super-Breath to blow some of the rafts clear? How many rafts are there in total? She's MORE than willing to give chase once she knows the passengers are safe.
  21. Casey nodded, then stopped and looked off into space for a few seconds. "Harbor patrol are on their way; they should be here in about three minutes." Then she offered Seahawk a tense smile. "Good luck." She was very impressed by the test pilot's dedication to saving the animals. But she had work to do, too; between her flight, speed and tremendous strength, Casey was indeed able to work miracles, towing two rafts at time, grabbing people by their vests to fly then safely outside, and freeing anyone who was stuck or unconscious back in the plane. The whole time, she kept her eyes and ears open for any sign of trouble, especially the sinister pilot responsible for all of this; he could NOT get away!
