  1. Toughness save: 1d20+10=23 http://orokos.com/roll/333434 Notice check: 1d20+10=19 http://orokos.com/roll/333435
  2. Grim wrinkled her nose and shook her head as she slowly walked towards the One True Duke. "Y'know, when you say 'I wish you no harm', it sounds different than when other people say it. Because what I keep hearing is, 'I mean you no harm right now, but the minute you try and prevent me from cheating Death at the expense of someone else's life, I'm just going to shoot you again with a poison crossbow bolt'." She held up her hand and wiggled her fingers. "Do you see the difference there? It's a subtle thing." She continued to walk towards him, in no hurry whatsoever. "And just in case you're wondering, I actually haven't forgotten all those times you tried to shoot me, poison me or run me over with your Rolls, or the threats you made against my friend's bookstore involving poison gas." She stopped and sighed. "So no, I really can't let you leave this room." She shrugged. "Sorry, Duke, but I gotta bring you in." She didn't really look all that sorry.
  3. Gretchen stood with her hands on her hips, lips pursed in thought. "Hmm. Well, I've had a bit of first aid training; is there a kit back in the dingy? I could-" Once the bullet dropped Torpedo Lass, Shrike instinctively dropped into a crouch, her heart racing. No, not guns; she wasn't ready for guns yet! But then she forced herself to move and scuttle over to the fallen heroine, whom she saw was largely unaffected by the hit. "Wow; you really are tough." But thanks to the Three Gifts, so was Gretchen, as she still had to remind herself. She gently placed a hand on TL's arm and whispered with a touch of irony, "You wait here and take a load off; I'm going to see if there's anyone I can shoot with my Cracker Jack ring." And then she went invisible and took to the air, keeping low to the ground as she raced for the treeline.
  4. The changeling whistled in appreciation when the graphic of the carrier came up. "Holy moley, look at her! Boy, that's gonna make a big splash when it hits the water!" Lynn chuckled as once again the oxygen question arose. "I keep trying to tell people, I don't need to breathe; I mostly do it to talk and because it's freaky when I don't. Oh, and it obviously helps with the whole smelling issue. As far as the size issue goes-" There was a sharp inrush of air as she shrunk down to pixie size, then landed before the captain with a flutter of her wings, all of twelve inches tall. "Is this small enough for you? I can be even smaller if I ball up." The tiny heroine curled up into a fetal position with her wings folded tightly. "See? But I'd probably cramp up in that position for too long." She rose to her feet and dusted herself off. "Still, I could probably slip into a pocket on Naomi's vest."
  5. So who goes first, the snake or Grim? She goes on 13, not sure why i didn't bother to type that in before.
  6. She didn't find the pilot; perhaps it was naive of her to think she could get everyone buckled in and find the missing criminal, but at least Casey had tried. More than likely, he would lay low and hope to disappear in the chaos of the evacuation, so she would do her best to find him then. When the doctor asked about securing Jenny, the blonde teen made a quick decision; she raced in back to find a refreshment cart, which she twisted apart like a soft pretzel and fashioned into a crude set of manacles that she carefully bent around the unconscious woman's wrists. Then she buckled her into a seat and took a seat next to her; once she'd buckled herself in, she reached across the seat to hold Jenny in place in case of violent impact. Finally at long last she to time to whisper a heartfelt prayer. "Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen."
  7. Casey Blankenship was a morning person; years of camping and athletic practice meant she was usually up around 5am, hitting the gym by 5:30, the pool by 6, and then jogging around campus until she felt ready for a shower and breakfast. She often worked in some Taekwondo hyeong, stopping under a tree to work through the forms a few times. Rather than the ubiquitous earbuds most people wore when they work out, Casey used her powers to listen to satellite radio, usually WSIX from Nashville. This morning, she was doing something she'd recently started enjoying: roof running. She wasn't cool enough to know any parkour, but running and jumping across the tiles (always being careful to avoid any dorms or apartments) was a nice break from grass and the paths, and was something she might actually have to do from time to time. As she easily leaped the gap between the auditorium and the gym, her amazing eyes caught a flicker of movement up in the air over the city. "Oh my God." It was early; were any other supers even up? She looked down at herself: Nikes, bike shorts, Air Force baby T over a sport bra. In a flash, her top was turned inside out to hide the logo and she shook her hair loose, her head vibrating like a crazy bobblehead for half a second, and then she was airborne on an intercepting course.
  8. The idea is that you would be in your super identity, using their powers In creative ways, but if someone wanted to do it in their civilian identity they would not be turned away. Also if someone justs wants to visit and enjoy the attraction, that's fine, too! I'm thinking that this will follow a common pattern and the maze will have two sections, one merely fun and disorienting (and therefore kid friendly), the other horror themed for teens and up. If folks have a preference, that's cool; Grim tends to hang out in the bloody end of the pool
  9. Casey grinned in response; and people thought she was naive! "Okay, great! But remember, we're not just detectives, we're super-detectives! We can use our special abilities in ways no one else can. For instance, you've got your telepathy and shapeshifting; you can do other stuff, too, right? Like go invisible or walk through walls? All of those make you a really good detective." Then she held a hand to her chest. "Now me, sure, I'm super-strong and I can fly, but I have other, lesser-known powers, too. Like I can hear radio waves, see infra-red, really far away or really close up. So yeah, maybe I'll be good at it, too." The Girl Scout stroked her lip thoughtfully. "Okay, so we need to think like detectives; every crime has a motive, so maybe if we knew why this girl stole this information, that might help us figure out who took it. Do we know what this vital information is? And how how do you know all about this anyway?"
  10. http://orokos.com/roll/333015 A 16; hmm, that could go either way...
  11. Casey nodded as she took the headset, put on her vest and grabbed the instructions, which she thoroughly read and reread several times in the blink of an eye. "Got it; I'll take care of this." Then she smiled warmly. "Yeah, Daddy's pretty protective of his little bulletproof girl." She stepped back out into the passenger area, her eyes scanning the seats for any sign of the pilot; he could be anywhere out there, and there was no time- Then a thought hit her, and she slowly grinned with grim determination; toggling on the headset, she addressesed the nervous passengers. "Ladies and gentlemen, if I can please have your attention; as Seahawk said, we are about to prepare for a water landing. I am going to go over the steps for a safe landing, and then I'm going to come around and make sure everyone is strapped in and ready. Please keep the aisles clear for your own safety." The blonde heroine went over the steps in both English and Spanish, and then shortly after took off at high speed as she raced through the passenger area, a blue and white blur that flew past with the rush of wind, checking everyone's vests and seatbelts. As as she did, she kept her eyes open for the mysterious pilot, hoping for the chance to make him very secure.
  12. Per discussion in chat with Durf, Casey is going to stunt her Quickness 12 in Super-Speed 6, spending her remaining HP; this will allow her ti do two things: 1. Rapidly move about the passenger areas, making sure everyone's buckled in. 2. Using previously mentioned activity as cover to try and spot the pilot; she had a pretty good look at him with her telescopic vision before they entered the plane, so here's hoping! Durf, let me know if I have to roll any Notice checks or anything else.
  13. Monty Python's The Architect Sketch comes to mind
  14. At breakfast, Lynn had politely refused any grub, seeing as her body could no longer handle mortal food; she did however have a glass of orange juice and a cup of coffee to give her a little energy. Once they were at the Captain's quarters, she shook Cameron's offered hand firmly and eagerly joined the conversation. "Actually, sir, Naomi and I are both combat veterans of wars in different dimensions; we're both skilled pilots and bring a lot to the table in other areas. If the Imperials have a flying carrier which might hold the key to getting back to our own world, I for one would happily volunteer for such a mission, no matter how dangerous." First she faded completely out of view for a few seconds, then in a swirl of vapor she became the spitting image of Cameron. "If you need an infiltrator, I'm your girl...man...whatever, I'm up for it, sir." She then politely relinquished the science officer's form and stood at ease.
  15. I typically like to do something Halloween-y with Grimalkin every year, as it's one of her favorite holidays; as a sort of sequel to this thread last year, I thought it might be fun if Grim agreed to help out some local farmers by spicing up their annual corn maze. Yes, they have them in New Jersey; this one would be quite close to Freedom! Unlike last year, i don't really want to do more than have this be a social/fun ideas thread; I didn't have the time to run the combat/mystery elements last year, and i have even less time now. Please let me know if you're interested!
  16. Shrike floated over to the suit of armor, still invisible. "Hold on, we've got a body in there; I can move it without having to touch it." She held out her Ring, and directed most of its power over towards the inert form, using only a fraction of it to keep her hovering in the air. She envisioned a large pair of gentle hands wrapping around the body, and gingerly raised it up and floated it over towards the beach, carefully depositing it some ten yards away from Torpedo Lass. Then the young heroine reappeared, landing with a soft crunch on the beach, her head cocked to one side as she eyed the body. "Do you think they'd rig it to blow, or am I being too paranoid?"
  17. Casey nodded as she went to work; the smell and conditions of the two corpses (they were both clearly dead) made her want to hurl, and it took all her efforts to keep her big breakfast down, especially all that damn ham and sausage. Then she turned her gaze to the cabin itself, her eyes searching on both the IR and microscopic level for any clues as to what exactly went on here. More than likely, Miss Firepants was responsible for the tragic death of the two crew members, but what was the pilot's story? Possession? Shapeshifter, Mind control? "They're both...they're both gone," was all she could muster. She muttered a quick prayer for their poor souls before returning to the task at hand.
  18. Medicine check for Casey! http://orokos.com/roll/332640 Not so hot!
  19. Normally when you yell "Look out, they're going to blow", you expect a flash of light, seering heat and a very loud boom; what you do not expect is John Phillip Sousa. Casey had thrown herself prone and covered her head, but now she stood up and gazed into the sky, truly bewildered. "What the heck is going on? Is this all just some...bizarre supervillain prank?" But then she noticed IR flashes all over the ground, and she quickly took to the air. "Heat! We've got heat all over the place! Something's going on down there!"
  20. http://orokos.com/roll/332542 A 22. Sorry I sat on this so long; once you post the results, I promise to quickly respond.
  21. Casey frowned as leaned over to Naomi. "I'm no doctor, but from what I can see, those injuries look pretty superficial; unless it's thirst or sunstroke, there's really nothing to knock her out, and she's not sunburned and her lips aren't white. Head wounds bleed a lot, even shallow ones like that. Either she's just sleepy or she's playing possum." When the others jumped in the water, the blonde teen tensed up; she should be the one swimming out there! But then she nodded to herself and opted for the lookout role; if she saw any funny business from here, she could shout out an alarm.
  22. Grimalkin would be happy to mentor any students, though not sure who would be interested in her teachings. In a weird way, Miracle Girl might be interested in studying under Foreshadow; since her first encounter with Terrifica, she's been intrigued by the stealthier side of heroing, and sees that as an area of potential growth. In other words, she saw The Incredibles!
  23. Lynn's eyes a went a bit big as the yeoman went over this world's recent history; that was a lot to digest! It made her happy there was a lot less magic involved in the war she'd fought back on Otherworld; the thought of massive spells warping the surface of Mars was just too scary to contemplate! Her less question was a little distressing, though. "Uh, so if we were Homo-Magi...would that be a bad thing?" She looked over at the provided jumpsuits, and then her body was surrounded by swirling vapor, leaving her wearing a duplicate of the suit. "I'm actually of the Fae; not by birth, but by...reinvention?" She shrugged and did her best to look inoffensive.
  24. Paranoid Lynn's Sene Motive check: http://orokos.com/roll/331802 17!
