Sign Casey up! What's the IC rationale for no power use? Just curious. Also a five day weekend? Do people have those, because I want one!

Casey shook her head and called out to her impromptu teammates. "Um, I don't think these jerks are human, or maybe even alive; they don't have any heat signitures!" Robots? Aliens? Illusions? Who knew? The important thing was the earnest young super didn't have to feel too bad about whipping their butts! And it was pretty apparent the joker in Vigilant's costume was not her dad, which made her deeply annoyed. In seconds, she was in the air and leaping/flying in the phoney's direction to deliver a flying kick to his face. "Shut your stupid mouth, you jerk!"

Casey accepted the gratitude of the passengers as she gently disentangled herself from them and directed them back to their seats. "Thank you, but we're not out of the woods yet! Please stay in your seats and remain calm." In response to Anibal's compliment, she flashed him a ten thousand watt smile and shrugged, looking impossibly girlish with those silly pigtails. "Da nada, señor!" But then she was back to all business as she followed Seahawk down the aisle to the cockpit door, where she held up her hand and whispered. "Wait; let me check for heat." She gave the door a quick IR once over.

Grimalkin Being that she's a shapeshifter, it's perhaps not surprising that Lynn is rather hard to pin down; she lives very much in the 'now', making few great plans and doing her best not to dwell on the past, even though she still misses Colt terribly. Her emotions are intensely felt, and she can switch from playful to angry to sad almost in the same sentence. Lynn also finds comfort in the little things, everyday wonders like bike rides in the park and lazy afternoons spent lying in the grass; she never seems to have enough of the simple pleasures, which makes her cherish them all the more. Since becoming a mother and having to leave her family behind on another world, she has taken a very motherly attitude towards her friends and coworkers. As a crimefighter, Grim is driven by many things: the desire to see a wasted life blossom once more, an end to cruelty, injustice and indifference, and a strong personal desire to constantly improve her technique. She likes teaming up with other heroes to see how she measures up and maybe pinch a trick or two, but she is frequently very self-critical of her own performance, to the point of downplaying her many successes. Like a trickster goddess with a vengeful streak, her personal brand of justice might seem somewhat capricious, but she would never willfully take a human life in the pursuit of the law. History A young runaway from Atlantic City, Lynn Epstein turned to a life of panhandling and petty crime to survive; one day it became too much, and she crawled into a dark alley on a chill winter night to die, but instead awoke the next day transformed! For many months she used her powers selfishly, living the high life and swindling 'suckers', until one night she saw a young streetwalker attacked; the FCPD's profound indifference to the crime appalled her, and she swore that night to use her powers to help those the Powers That Be would not help. For several years, she was a member of the West End-based superhero team known as the Interceptors, along with Dynamo, Fulcrum, Jack of All Blades and William 'Colt' Reynolds. Three years ago she married Reynolds and retired from active crime-fighting, and she had not been seen in Freedom City since. Upon her return, Lynn reopened Silberman's Books, the store she inherited from her grandfather on her twenty-second birthday; the building had been shuttered since she and Colt where married in it 2011. Lynn currently occupies the apartment above the shop. She recently revealed to her former teammates that time moved differently on Colt's world, where she'd been for the last three years, and she's now closer to one hundred and eight. She has recently taken on Gretchen McDaniels as her 'personal crimefighting assistant' (Gretchen's preferred term), though the world will soon come to know her as 'the Shrike'! Costume and Appearance Lynn is a lovely young woman who typically wears comfortable jeans, T-shirts, hiking boots and a denim or suede jacket by day, but is wrapped in skintight leather of black and midnight blue, complete with domino mask, when she prowls the dirty streets at night. Unless she is going undercover, she always wears a leather lanyard around her neck, from which dangles a dark black ring with a row of diamonds set along the top; she frequently fiddles with the ring while deep in thought. Her ears are pointed and tapered; as Grimalkin, they are clearly visible, but 'Lynn' keeps the tips discretely hidden under her hair. Powers Grimalkin's powers come from her faerie nature; some of them are innate, such as her keen senses and high tolerance to cold, but many of them come from her ability to manipulate glamour, the very essence of the fey. Seeing as her body is now wholly composed of glamour, she can alter it in a number of ways, such as completely changing her appearance, making herself nearly undetectable, or eluding capture; a favorite form is that of a pixie, just under one foot tall with a two pairs of gossamer wings for flight. She can also create various objects seemingly out of thin air (actually her own glamour), which she uses as props, furniture or just her own amusement; she has now found a way to maintain a connection with these objects, and can use this link for surveillance purposes. In combat, Grim prefers the stealthy strike to take better advantage of her claws; when forced into a 'fair fight', she uses her wits and charm to befuddle her foes to level the playing field. She has also learned how to use glamoured objects to capture or obstruct her opponents. Allies (Friends and teammates of your character, special relationships, family members) (Sidekick, HQ, Etc) (Create additional paragraphs for special features your character has. If they have a headquarters, describe it, how it is equipped, where it is located, how the hero came to have it. If they have a sidekick, the sidekick may warrant their own page, or simply a paragraph about them on the hero's page. You can also make sections for favored devices, your character's profession, or anything else you want to talk about.) Timeline (The timeline is a useful reference to all the threads your character has been in. The easiest way to make a timeline is to start with the year your character began, in the season they were introduced, and list all their threads in that season using the unordered-list button (buttons instead of numbers.) For every full year your character has been in play, start a new year in the timeline, with seasons listed Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall, and Fall running till the Winter Solstice or all the way till the New Year. Make a link to the thread for easy later reference, and add a blurb describing what happened in that thread. The blurb can be as short or as long as is necessary to convey the important things that happened, or at least to give an idea.)

Gretchen was not a fan of boats; she learned this along time ago growing up in Portland, where the damn things were pretty much everywhere. it wasn't that she got seasick so much as feeling a complete lack of control on the water, the sense that the sea didn't give a rat's ass about you or your fragile little body. But she's agreed to be a part of this mission, so she said nothing as she climbed into the stupid rubber dingy that felt about as durable as a rubber duckie. Her face was taut with strain as they traveled out to sea and the peninsula rapidly approached. In a weird way, the black smoke, though ominous as hell, came as something of a relief; it was another problem to be teased at, and it meant a chance to get out of the pool floatie. "Yeah, i can fly." Then Shrike lifted up her hood, and a silver shimmer spread over her, erasing first her head and shoulders and then drifting down over her entire body. "Let's hope they don't see us coming," she said, her voice floating eerily in the air.

http://orokos.com/roll/331036 Casey doesn't see it, probably too busy gently pulling people off her. I think she will join SH at the door, with El H keeping an eye on Miss Firepants.

If there's one thing Casey always hated, it was bullies, especially the supervillain variety. It made her sick to see a poor defenseless man reduced to begging by somewho who wielded death at her fingertips. So the blonde teen was delighted the Hispanic air control left their target wide open; there was a quick rush of wind, and suddenly Miracle Girl was directly in from burning woman, arms up and bouncing on the toes of her red Doc Martins in a classic fighting stance. And then she delivered a simply beautiful roundhouse kick to the side of the older woman's head, pivoting smoothly as her right leg snapped foward and back with the force of a cannon. "Ai-YAH!"

Merge!Grim's jaw dropped as she witnessed first the Duke's co-opting for several of the duplicates, then the real Merge's disappearance into the mirror, followed closely by the mirror shattering. Gretchen had done as she asked, and looked what happened! Wait, what if Gretch herself ended up stuck in the mirror?! In her attempt to save her, Lynn may well have signed her doom. Mad more at herself than at the Duke's machinations, she nonetheless turned her cold fury in his direction. “Oh you know me, your Ducalness; we're old friends!" As she dropped the facade, Grim flicked her hands out, each finger tipped with a glittering talon forged out of pure shadow; she bowed deeply at the waist with a flourish. "So nice to have a chance to chat again, your grace!"

Casey lacks Sense Motive; she's so innocent! Might need to add a few ranks of that now that she's been out in the world a bit. She does however have a rank in Medicine, so she will take 10.

Miracle Girl smiled and offered the young man a firm handshake. "Nice to meet you, El Huracán." Her Spanish pronunciation was excellent, suggesting fluency. "Well, I'm pretty much bulletproof, too, though we want to be careful about ricochets. I can also see into the infrared spectrum, which can be handy at times like this; plus I'm fast-" There was a slight breeze, and now her hair was in a pair of adorable pigtails. "Now let's get this door open and do our best." Though she was young, Casey was getting increasingly confident in her abilities, and in general kept a level head in a crisis; also her warm friendly demeanor tended to have a calming effect on innocent civilians. She quickly did a few quick breathing exercises from her tae kwon do classes, then gave Seahawk the nod.

ic Beautiful People Doing Bad Things (IC)
Heritage replied to Tiffany Korta's topic in The Theatre District
It was hard to stay angry at the sweet alien; shaking her head, Casey sighed. "No, it's fine; I know you didn't mean any harm. And actually, I think you got pretty close on the chin." She tilted her head back, turning it this way and that to give the shapeshifter a better look. "See, not too bad." Then she grinned. "Plus, if you show me how to make my hair look like that, we're even!" Checking to make sure the door was locked, the blonde powerhouse pulled up a chair and gave Miss Grue her undivided attention. "Okay, so another telepath, huh? What did she take and how can we stop her? And does she have any other powers other than telepathy?" -
Casey was happy to help secure the boxes, including some of her fine knotwork. When Miss Baines indicated the mysterious object out at sea, the blonde heroine shaded her eyes and...well, pretty much saw everything, but didn't want to blow her cover in front of Mr Sloane. "Oh yeah, there's...uh, definitely something out there. And those clouds look really bad, too." She got a pained look on her face, then leaned in close to whisper to her 'escort'. "I could fly out there in no time at all, and be back before anyone even noticed." The thought of someone stranded out there, waiting for the ship to slowly make its way to them, made her very upset. "Please, Miss Baines? I can be discreet!"
-
Grim swung her leg off the bike and shook her head, hands on her hips. "Wow, that is...downright upscale for this neighborhood. And from the looks of it, a real nasty piece of work to enter." She turned to her newfound partner in this affair. "Okay, so I'm guessing from the getup and your actions, you can sneak pretty darn good." She placed a gloved hand on her chest. "I myself am also insanely sneaky." She jerked her thumb towards the wall. 'I'm estimating they probably have...let's say a bajillion guns and rounds of ammo in there, so getting caught would be bad." She stood there studying the structure for a few more seconds, scratching her lower lip with an extended claw. "So do we go straight for the villa, or do we try and drop as many mooks as we can first?"

At the mention of 'Rail Cannon', Shrike's eyes went a little wide and she sent little mental whimper back to Lynn. - Uh, boss? Have you ever had to deal with a rail cannon? - - Yeah, they're super-bad. Not like the movie, obviously. Why? - - Oh, no reason. - - Holy crap, do you need my help? I can kill this health inspector and hide the body! - - No, it's fine. We've got our top fish lady working on this. - - Uh...okay. Well, scream in terror if you get in too deep. - - You can pretty much count on it. - She blinked her eyes a few times, then came back to the here and now, and responded to TL's question. "As in, can I make the whole raft invisible? if that's what you mean, then no. It just works for the wearer, though I'm working on passengers for the future."
-
It was all happening so fast for Lynn; flying through the portal, getting shot at, and now ending up here mixed up in a war she barely understood. It also sounded suspiciously like they'd been drafted into the Pirate Navy, but maybe she was just being paranoid. When the young Yeoman asked her question, the changeling could only shake her head. "Uh, well, do you have any idea how we might have ended up in your universe? Is this a thing that happens over here, or are we a freak occurrence? And any clue on how we might get back home? Like maybe some kooky scientist working on dimensional travel to beat, uh, those Limey bastiches?"
-
Though she could have done a multi-hour marathon (boy, did that take her back!), Lynn decided three 45 minute episodes was probably enough for one afternoon; besides, It would be bad to keep the brilliant young inventor away from her friends and designs for so long. Getting to her feet and stretching like a lazy house cat, the changeling passed a hand through the virtual screen to dismiss the PictureBox. "Alright, I've monopolized your time long enough; you probably have cute boys or girls to hang out with...or build." She pulled out her phone and checked the time. "Aaaand I've got a bookstore I'm supposed to be running." She sniffed the air a few times. "Nothing's on fire, so yay!" She led Sakurako back to the kitchen and down the stairs back into the back of the shop. "Stop by again if you're ever bored; I love sharing shows with new people. And of course, tell your friends about the store and the Claremont discount. We can also use more kids in here!" Back up front, Gretchen shot her a dirty look for staying off the floor so long, but luckily she wasn't swamped or anything. "So how was Creepy Pedo Time," she muttered under her breath, knowing her boss cold hear her. Lynn just mimed having pointy teeth to bite her, then turned back to the Claremonter with a grin. "Okay, let's ring you up for your gamebook and get you back on campus!"

Back home in Colorado, Casey had worked at homeless shelters a few times, either with the Scouts or the Grace and St. Stephen's youth group; mostly it was serving Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners, knitting scarves or providing warm clothing. Something told her homelessness in Freedom (what an ironic phrase!) was a lot harsher. "So, Henry and Rufus...are friends of yours?" She made a conscious effort to relax her tense muscles, breath normally and look if not cool, than at least not paranoid and skittish. She also reminded herself that if she was volunteering in a war-torn or undeveloped country, she would not feel this way even if might actually be in more danger; though she certainly didn't think of herself as racist, she clearly had some issues to work through.

Overall Casey felt kind of weird; on the one hand, all of this was obviously very bad, and she might have to fight a real jerkwad version of her own father. But on the other hand....Argonaut! Cannonade! MISS frickin' AMERICANA! It was a a struggle to keep the fangirl giddiness out of her voice as she nodded firmly at Miss A and said merely, "Yes, ma'am." When they got to Ft Meade, the young heroine felt sick to her stomach to see her 'dad' clearly enjoying being a real jackass. In fact, it was hard to even look at him. She really wasn't too good at scary bad guys, so for know, she decided to land next to Cannonade and stay close by without getting in his way. Meanwhile, she decided to have a look around with her incredible eyes; first just a basic scan, then an IR to check for any mysterious hot spots.
