Casey got a little pink in cheeks when she realized that neither Sakurako or herself had made introductions; what would her mom say? Clearly flustered, her mouth opened and closed a few times before she managed a reply. "I, uh...I think we were too busy being self-righteous." She offered Lightning a sheepish smile. "Sorry." The adjusted plan sounded good; Endeavor's insistance on relocating to a less inhabited area made her breathe an internal sigh of relief, as it would allow the two team's heavy hitters to do their thing with less concern about collateral damage, though of course she was always mindful to use her powers carefully. After all, what kind of Scout would she be if she saved innocent lives but still managed to start a forest fire? With the two young teams now on the same page, Miracle Girl was ready to do her part!

The sight of her friend zapping the would-be purse snatcher was mildy upsetting to Casey, though she knew Saku would never use lethal force; electrocution, even at a low setting, just looked kind of nasty. She was also disturbed by his last words before the EMWand dropped him; was this just a bizzare attempt to impress a girl? Crouching down next to the boy, she quickly checked his vitals to make sure he'd recover. When the French girl approached them, the tall blonde could only stand up shaking her head. "No idea; he said something about not coming back empty-handed, and showing her how he felt." She put her hands on hips and sighed as she addressed the unconcious delinquent. "Buddy, any girl who's impressed by purse snatching is not a keeper!" Then she looked up the new arrival. "So are you the other girl who's purse was taken? My name's Casey, and this is Endeavor." Casey belatedly noticed Nevermore was here, in full costume yet; unsure of the protocol of encountering another student in the field, she thought it best if she avoided eye contact.

Does the device appear to weigh five hundred pounds or less? If so, Grim can drop into her Dimensional Pocket and fly it out; if it weighs more, perhaps Tria should carry it out.
-
Lynn frowned as the two teens discussed the mysterious ichor stains, thinking back to her experiences on the train. "So we have a wounded Olympian disappearing from a crowded train, right after a Celtic spirt of ill omen appears on a nearby hilltop, in a town where I'm picking up a book somehow linked to the fae; boy, when you say it out loud, it seems a little far-fetched." Her comment sounded lighthearted, but her expression was clearly troubled. "Has there been any animosity beween pantheons recently? Is that even a thing?" Addressing Thaelia's question, she shrugged as she raised her coffee cup. "Well the purse was on the train, which is now long gone...but if our Miss Jones was removed from the train car, possibly by force, there might be more blood on the platform or somewhere else nearby. I might be able to track her by scent, assuming it's not too muddled by all the other foot traffic."

Grim had been about to announce her presence to the mysterious man in black and white when his firm words brought her up short; clearly this guy knew what he was doing! So instead she merely nodded, then decided it would be best if she suplemented his search in ways he could not, such as investigating the ceiling and distant corners of the room from the air. With a soft hum of wings, she flitted this way and that, bringing all her senses to bear, being sure not to touch anything. She kept her eyes open for any nooks or cracks only she might be able to squeeze into, though she didn't enter any of them yet. The device itself was beyond her ken, though she still gave it a once over. She was more interested in the poor dead janitor, hovering over his face and clothing, her tiny stomach twisted in knots. They could have drugged him, slit his throat or snapped his neck, but instead they opted to beat him to death; what did that say about whoever did this?
-
Grim will certainly apply her Search to Kimgsnake's total.
-
Of those skills listed, Grim has only Notice and Search, both of which are +15; maybe I should roll both just to be sure? Since she's in pixie form, she can quickly flit around the area without touching anything. Notice check: 1d20+15=34 Search check: 1d20+15=17 Wow, two extremes!

Casey shrugged as she opened another can of pop. "Well, if we wanted a nice, normal boring high school experience, I think we chose the wrong school. Here, I can help with the chili; my dad grew up in Texas, where it's kind of a state obsession. That and barbeque." As she chopped and stirred, the blonde hummed to herself, a country song by the sound of it. "I'll be honest, I kind of like it; not the danger, but the chance to do more than just study, play sports or date boys. Not that I don't like those things; I just want to make a difference, you know? To have an impact." She tasted a bit of the chili and nodded in approval. "Mmm, that's pretty good for out of a can! The fresh onions really helped, though. So what's project you're working on? That is, if you can dumb it down for me."

Happy birthday, Geez!

Lynn shook her head and laughed. "Alright, I'm not gonna lie; I only understood about half of that, but it sounded fantastic, especially that self-folding chute. That would be very useful in the field." Then bookseller was struck by an idea. "Y'know what...I've got something you might like to have a look at; let me consult with my assistant first!" She practically ran back over to the bar and launched herself up onto it with both hands, almost looking like an eager child as she excitedly talked with Gretchen. Sakurako couldn't make out everything said, but she could definitely see the young assistant shaking her head and saying, "No, absolutely not." Lynn continued the discussion for a bit longer, her gestures becoming increasingly animated, but finally she sighed and returned to the Claremonter with a dejected look on her face. "Yeah, Gretchen thinks it's a terrible idea..." But then she got a mischievious glint Iin her eye. "But luckily, I sign her paychech!" Lynn leaned in close like a playground drug dealer and whispered, "How would you like to see some technology from a parallel dimension?" She winked. "Pretty cool, huh?" Gretchen threw up her hands in dismay as she got back to work. "Y'know what, why do I even bother?"

Casey crossed her arms and frowned. "Other than you calling me 'Blondie' and my friend 'Brain Girl', no, it sounds like a good plan, Big...Annoying Guy." She nodded with satisfaction, having put the boy in his place. Sort of. She was happy to see Samaritan again, for some reason comforted to have another friendly male presence in the room. It was also good to see Endeavor get a chance to do her thing, both the healing and the tech; it felt good to work together with another team around their age, even if some of its members were jerks... The blonde bruiser lifted off and hovered in the air, raising her eyebrows in Lightning's direction. "You ready?"

It was truly marvelous to see the suit in action; the old men paused in their games long enough to gawk in wonder at the pretty young space girl in her colorful garb, prompting Lynn to playfuly chide them. "Back to your backgammon, gentlemen!" She was no stranger to costume changes, though of course she 'cheated' by using magic, or at least that's how she always thought of it. At Sakurako's question, she grinned slyly. "Oh, we've had a few..." Unlike her former teammate Jack, she'd never been hyper-protective of her secret identity, at least not with people in 'the biz', as she liked to think of the superhero community, but she tried not to just blurt it out to everyone. Returning to the subject of the suit, Lynn stroked her lower lip thoughtfuly, then indicated it with a wave of her hand. "So, does it possess any sort of stealth capability? Mimetic fiber, holographic projectors, sound dampeners...that sort of thing? Obviously for rescue work, you want high visibility, but for some missions you really need to keep a low profile. You mentioned flight; how loud is your propulsion system?" Her questions were certainly interesting, and oddly specific!

Lynn shrugged as she took a seat on the edge of the table. "Well, there's never a shortage of people who like to beat other people up. Now, people who are good at rescuing people? Those we can never have enough of; just my opinion, of course." She indicated the suit with a nod of her head and an extended hand. "May I?" Once she had the suit in hand, she gently ran her fingers across the surface, almost stroking it like a cat."It's light!" Then she held the material close to her eyes as she scrutinized the seams with a critical intensity. "Wow; these seals are amazing! Can this actually survive hard vacuum?" Then she abruptly grabbed the suit with both hands and yanked it hard, pulling the material this way and that; behind the counter where she'd been quietly watching, Gretchen sat up alarmed, convinced her boss was destroying a customer's clothing. It probably would have ripped a garment of lesser construction apart, but then Sakurako's Exploration Suit was of course exceptional. Handing it back to its creator, Lynn chuckled and shook her head in amazement. "That is one hell of a suit; excellent work! Your parents must be proud."

The shopkeeper was discretely examining her enthusiastic customer; she was Claremont, so she was no ordinary student. Japanese, funky space tech, sailor suit; wasn't there something in the paper...? "Since 1946; my great-grandfather Ira Silberman opened it right after the War; he didn't see action in any official capacity, but he did his part. His son Louis took over after Ira disappeared in South America in the Sixties; he was Nazi hunting at the time." She sighed before continuing, thinking back on her family's legacy. "Grampa Lou ran it for decades, then left it to me when he died; the will gave me the title on my twenty-second birthday, but I was only able to take full possession last year." It all sounded so simple, so straightforward; as always, all the really important stuff just fell through the cracks. Attempting to shake off her sudden melancholy, Lynn cleared her throat and smiled. "So, Claremont! Excellent school! What are you studying there?" She indicated Sakurako's backpack with a nod. "Did you make that glowy thing yourself? Looks pretty darn cool!"

Casey heard Sakurako's voice and skidded to a stop; she closed her eyes and tried to place its origin with her mind's eye, a trick she developed while out hiking as a kid. She turned her body this way and that, recalling where the sound seemed to come from almost as though it was a visual phenomenon. But of course, thus wasn't a state park; sound did different things in the city, even in the rain. After a few moments, she thought she knew which way to go, but she had to be prepared for anything. Pretend Saku is a deer you don't want to startle; sneak up on her so you can get a good look with your binoculars. Sticking to the driest patches of sidewalk so she wouldn't splash, the Girl Scout kept low and scurried forward, hugging the walls as much as possible. Her infravision had several advantages in this situation; rain had little effect on it, and warm-blooded creatures stood out like glowing phantoms from the shadowy mass of buildings. Down one alley she saw a large figure in the distance, most likely Glamazon, but that was not her intended target. Casey continued stalking her friend; if she was even close to where she thought, this corner should- There. About fifty feet away, standing in the middle of the alley, much closer than she thought, coming in at about Sakurako's eight o'clock. Casey knew she wasn't good enough to sneak all the way up to her, not yet anyway, and certainly not without speed or flight. So she decided to be a bit tricky. The blonde powerhouse had been working on something new; experimentation with her vocal chords had shown them to be unusually flexible, allowing her to mimic a number of sounds. Ducking behind a garage, Casey cleared her throat a few times, then yelled out in a eerie approximation of Vonnie's voice, "Casey, she's over here!" She then peeped around the corner to see the Asian girl's reaction.

It made the tiny pixie proud to see her assistant rise to the challenge and help the local EMTs, but that pride was almost completely overshadowed by the carnage Grim saw as she floated overhead. And the question of course remained: natural disaster or triggered event? As a crimefighter, she sadly knew both were a possibility; some sicko could have wanted to kill hundreds of people, if not more. But then she heard someone shouting in accented Japanese down near the field, and noted a muscular figure in black and white gesturing towards the massive crater and the sky before heading towards the stadium's lower levels; possibly an unknown cape with a lead? But what if...no, if it was the bad guy who'd created this nightmare, he wouldn't be shouting himself hoarse and then running away; there would a sound system, a long, rambling speech and additional demonstrations of power, or maybe a hostage. No, this was a good guy with a possible lead, on the move while the trail was fresh! As she dove down to follow him and see if he needed any backup, she spotted Triakosia here helping as well; thank God they had a heavy hitter here! Grim took a brief detour to buzz the beautiful powerhouse, conjuring up a long, brightly-colored banner as she flew past. GOOD TO SEE YOU, TRIAKOSIA! WE CAN USE ALL THE HELP WE CAN GET! - GRIM Letting the banner trail down to the shattered earth, she zipped into the service entrance she'd seen the mystery man enter moments before. - - - For her part, Gretchen was operating on autopilot; she'd never really been the volunteering type before, not out of any sort of mean-spiritedness, but more due to her somewhat misanthropic and defeatist attitude. She didn't so much hate people so much as merely try to avoid the bulk of humanity whenever possible. But this...this was different; she was helping innocent people she'd never met before, most of whom spoke little or no English, battered and bloody and scared. And the looks they gave her as they bowed in thanks, grateful smiles under haunted eyes, shook her to her very core. No language was really needed as she worked with the two EMTs; a nod, a tap on the shoulder, a thumbs up or a grunt of thanks was all it took to get the job done. For the first time in her life, Gretchen felt a powerful (dare she say spiritual?) connection to her fellow man, and the emotion was almost too much to bear. But then she caught a flash of bright, gossamer wings through tear-filled eyes...and she smiled, and dutifully returned to the task at hand.

When young Serge tearfully removed his mask and made his vow, Grimalkin was deeply moved; she stepped over to him and rested a hand on his shoulder, and gave it a little squeeze. "Nice to meet you, Serge; you did good tonight." After Fast-Forward spoke, she felt it was only fair that she was a bit more open; In general, she trusted other heroes to keep her secret, though she always respected those who guarded their identities more closely. There was a swirl of mist, and once again the young barefoot woman in a big sweater and black tights they'd visited earlier that night stood before them. "My name's Lynn Epstein, and it was good to work with you all; if you stop by Silberman's Books in the West End, heroic defenders of Earth save fifteen percent!" Triakosia recognized the bookstore owner she interviewed several months ago; small world! Then the changeling resumed her heroic identity and waved a hand at the defenses around the psychics. "So, do we think it's safe to take this down?"

When the strange young man suddenly sidled up to her, alarm bells went off in Casey's head; his words sounded relaxed and confident, but everything about his tone of voice and overall demeanor said the exact opposite. Of course, the kicker was when he made a grab for her bag; it was made of hemp, and surprisingly strong, just like its owner! She made like she was merely planting her feet, but between her tremendous strength and gift of flight, Casey was making herself damn near unmovable, or at least to a non-powered human. Thr fact thst the bag also held Miracle Girl's costume made the stakes even higher! "No, you let go, you creep!" Normally this loser wouldn't even present much of a challenge, but Casey had a secret ID to maintain. Then Sakurako did her thing, and the blonde powerhouse had never been happier to see her friend and her technology; shooting out coiling snakes of electricity, it looked like something out of an old horror movie, only much scarier. Casey cocked her head and shrugged. "I don't know, you might want to do as she says!"

Ana's lip curled behind the thick glass visor of her helmet; she was really glad her suit was airtight, because something told her this revolting mass of fungi smelled something awful. "Okay, this is going to be tricky..." She knew she had to be extra careful removing the fungus, because she could risk damaging any of the healthy tissue below; not only might there be some kind of brain damage, but if there were any pain sensors present, they might trigger a physical response on a massive scale! Holding out her hand palm down, she began to send very concentrated blasts of super-cooled air at the fungus, carefully noting the results.

Ana is going to attempt to use her Precise Ice Blast to start killing the fungus, kind of like using a laser to remove a tumor. A slip-up could be fatal, so she is going to be extra careful!

So Gretchen as an actual powered Sidekick (via three magicsl Devices) is back on the table! Having a lot of fun with this stuff. What is baseline for Power Loss for magic item activation? The three Devices are a helmet/mask, ring and a cloak; the idea is she always has the ring in, but has to turn it clockwise to activate Quick Change and summon the helm and cloak. So she can use the ring at anytime, but the other two items must be activated; the ring is the focus of offensive powers, the cloak defensive, and the helm sensory.

Somehow, impossibly, Lynn managed to keep standing; her unnatural grace and balance allowed her to ride out the shockwaves like a trick rider standing on the back of a galloping horse. But even though she kept her footing, she was still shaken to the core by the scenes of horror playing out all around her; the stadium was devestated, and there was almost certainly great loss of life. So strange to be here to witness this, not safe at home vaguely noting the tragedy scrolling along the bottom of a TV screen. Her first thought was of course Gretchen; she'd seen her friend go down, but from here it didn't look too bad. She hoped. In this chaos, she wasn't too concerned about blowing her cover, so she changed into Grimalkin right where she stood, the mists parting to reveal her more youthful, slender form wrapped in blue and black leather. She nimbly hopped across the backs of mangled chairs and landed next to Gretchen. "Are you alright?" Her assistant nodded as she unsteadily lifted herself up, holding a hand to the back of her head. "Yeah, I think so." She pulled her hand away, slick with blood, and went pale at the sight of it. "S###, I'm bleeding." "Not too bad, I think; here, lemme see." "Ow." "Sorry, sorry. Well...it doesn't look too bad, but I'm no doctor; scalp wounds always bleed a lot, but you still might have whiplash or a concussion. Can you stand?" "I think so." "I gotcha, I gotcha. There." Now leaning against a twisted railing, Gretchen could look around for the first time at the disaster area that surrounded her; she could barely believe her eyes. "Oh, holy s###." "Yep." "You've gotta go." "Yeah; here-" The changeling conjured up an ice pack, some bandages and a blanket to drape over Gretchen's shoulders. "Keep this on the back of your head, and start heading for an exit; I'll check up on you when I can." She turned to leave, but her assistant grabbed her arm. "Wait! Before you go, make more stuff!" Seeing the wisdom in Gretchen's words, she quickly created more blankets and bandages in two neat piles, then she shrunk down to pixie size and took to the air, trying to get a better idea of where she could be the most help. One thing she knew for sure: this year, she was going to take some first aid classes. No more excuses. Meanwhile back on the ground, Gretchen began to dispense the supplies to those around her.
