  1. Ana grinned at Sei's interactions with the acting captain; true, the big reptile was no genius, but she was honest and direct, two attributes that were sadly rare in her experience, and that made her invaluable. In terms of supplies, the cryokinetic did not get everything on her Christmas list, but there were a few workarounds. "Sei, are you good with a knife?" She held up an O-7 power coupler, of which she had several in a small gray plastic box. "We need to strip off the insulation to get to the part inside." Ana demonstrated removing the outer layer with a Stanley knife. "See, just like skining a small animal; could you do that with all of these in the box?" She held it out to the tall hunter, a hopeful look on her face.
  2. Damn it, that cat woman was fast! Seeing Balus under fire, Ana quickly ran over to his position and threw up a thick-walled ice shelter with narrow horizontal 'arrow slits' to give the two o f them some cover, while still allowing the cryokinetic a chance to fire back at their assailants. "Don't worry, big guy; I've got you covered!" She poked her head out around the ice wall and yelled at Starshot. "Boss, get your ass over here! I made us some cover! "
  3. Initiative roll for Ana: 1d20+2=17 Let's say for the first round she goes the safe route with the DC 20.
  4. Intimidation roll: 1d20+10=25 Cool, Grim goes all Mama Bear!
  5. Crap! She really shouldn't have let them know she had the scroll; now that the dogs had the scent, it would be much harder to get rid of them. Lynn felt the tips of her claws digging into her crossed arms as she resisted the temptation to rip these two a pair of new ones, but of course she couldn't; there were way too many innocent customers in the shop to suddenly put them all at risk. Noting Erick's presence and implied offer of violent assistance, she gave him a quick glance and a friendly smile. "Oh I agree, sir, but somehow I don't see that happening; at this point, I'd be willing to settle for them getting the hell out of my store and never coming back." She took a single step forward, her dark eyes leveled at the shorter man, her low growl dripping daggers of ice; never had a woman all of five foot three looked so menacing. "Don't you dare threaten me or my staff again. Turn around and take yourself and your trained ape out of my shop while you both can still walk." During this whole exchange, Kiki's expression flickered from terrified to hopeful to just a little bit thrilled; for her part, Gretchen was equally freaked out and completely in awe of her employer, whom she never in a million years expected to say stuff like that. She was so tiny!

Casey looked down at herself; she'd deliberately dressed as boring as possible. "Well maybe I can be the bait while Terrifica hides in the shadows?" She tapped one of her ears. "I can pick up radio frequencies with these, though I can't broadcast." Another thought worried at her, and she raised her hand again. "Doctor, you've mostly talked about Its, well, 'mental' capabilities, but you haven't really said much about what its body's like; how strong, how fast or how tough it is, or any dangerous weapons or abilities it might have. I know you'd kind of prefer we didn't pound on it, but we still might have to anyway."
  7. Most of the staff didn't seem to be familiar with the song, so they were torn between enjoying the song and trying to catch the lyrics; only Gretchen appeared to be fan of Voltaire, and she stepped out from behind the bar to indulge in a sort of vaguely Gypsy-inspired dance, which led to a few surprised and impressed whoops as she worked her hips. At the end of Sam's song, there was much applause for both performers; Gretchen put her hands together and bowed to the redhead, an actual hint of a smile on her lips. "That was pretty cool; good song choice." For her part, Lynn was too focused on Tona's relationship issues to really take in the goth cabaret number, though she did applaud at the end. "Okay, now it's boss lady's time to sing, and Sam gave me a good idea for a number." The Evil Queen then tore into 'Poor Unfortunate Souls' with gusto, really working her costume to the hilt; for a woman so small, she had a pretty big voice, the result of decades of practice offworld. She even threw down a theatrical smoke bomb at the end for full-on overkill. "And that is how you blatantly show off!"
  8. I'm sort of playing Gretchen as the Only Sane Man/Gladys Kravitz from Bewitched role. If at all possible, I'd like to keep the negative repercussions of her comments to a minimum; the whole point is no one takes her seriously because she complains about everything Edit: You know what, scratch that. Repercuss away!
  9. Lynn turned to the young man and offered him polite smile. "Would you excuse me a moment? I need to help my assistant manager with another customer; please have a look at our True Crime section." The changeling quickly crossed the sales floor and addressed the shorter man, polite yet firm. "Good morning, sir; I know the item you speak of, but it is not currently for sale, nor do I think it will be anytime soon. Is there something else I can help you find?" Kiki smiled and primly nodded, while Gretchen wore a priceless look of disbelief as she gestured in the direction her boss had approached from. "Oh, come on! How the hell did you even hear that?"
  10. At this point I'm waiting on a post letting me know Ana has the parts she needs; after than I guess we're looking at a Craft: Engineering roll to get the FTL back up and running? Edit: here's a roll to speed things up. 1d20+19=24 Man, what a sucky roll! Hope it's enough.
  11. Attack roll: 1d20+9=21 DC 24 Reflex save vs Snare
  12. "God I hate it when I'm right." Ana rubbed the spot on her armor where she'd been hit as she quickly scanned the pack of idiots they currently faced. Thugs like these were often not so different from schoolyard bullies, full of swagger and bravado of long as they held the advantage, but quick to panic and disperse once the tide turned against them. They also were highly dependent on the brains of their smartest members, typically the leaders; a surgical strike to the head of the collective beast left them vulnerable. The blonde cryokinetic dropped to one knee, raised up her left hand, and attempted to encase Miss Kitty in a prison of ice.
  13. Casey shrugged as she continued eating. "Never met him before; just don't like people who stare." Then she paused and set her fork down. "Technically we still haven't met-" She leaned to one side to get a better view of the sullen young man, and offered him a hopeful smile. "Sorry, I didn't catch your name earlier; mine's Casey." At the mention of patrolling, the blonde nodded as she returned to her food. "That would be cool; what's the school policy on that? Would we need to wear a costume of some kind, because I don't have anything like that yet."
  14. Lynn resisted the urge to wince as she tried switching gears. "Maybe something in the True Crime section, then? Lots of serial killers in there..." That was just a few bookshelves over. Meanwhile at the register, Kiki's eyes went a bit wide and her eyebrows went up at Alaina's comment; for her part, Gretchen cocked her head to one side as she nodded and appraised her coworker as well. "Y'know she's right; how much do you work out?" However both bookstore employees scowled as the newcomer rudely pushed aside the odd girl. Kiki looked slightly down her nose as she pointedly asked, "May I help you, sir?" Across the store, the changeling noted the slight tension in her friend's voice, and turned her head a bit to better hear the conversation; she was not happy to see one of the two sketchies was involved.
  15. The Japanese girl turned to find her roommate's head peeking out from under the covers, a big mischievious grin on her face. "You too, huh? Yeah, something seems off to me, too." In the blink of an eye, the covers billowed up, there was that familiar whoosh, and Casey was wearing a pair of wading boots and a set of rain slicks with the hood up, and cheerfully offering an umbrella and windbreaker to her roomie. "Need a lift? You can borrow these if you need 'em, though the jacket might be a bit big on you." Since moving in with the big blonde ggirl, Haruko had soon learned of Casey's generousity; what was hers was yours, without a second thought. "Take your time getting dressed; I can wait."

    Brain Drain

The blonde powerhouse felt a pang of guilt when she saw the veins popping out on Terrifica's neck; clearly the aging doctor had really hit a nerve. But she had to admire how quickly the self-proclaimed genius got her emotions under control; clearly she was above all else still a professional, and would get the job done no matter what her personal feelings were about Ring. As the robot's inventor continued to describing the unit, a thought occurred to Casey that troubled her, and she held up her hand to speak like the schoolgirl she still was. "What kind of range does this effect have? Do you have to be close to it, or is it more like a radio receiver where it picks up thought waves at range?" She nodded in the masked woman's direction. "Because if it needs proximity, maybe Terrifica shouldn't engage it directly; the last thing we want it to do is start copying the skills and abilities of someone really smart." She turned to her new 'partner' and shrugged. "Maybe it's best if we trap it and somehow find a way to shut it down from a safe distance, like an EMP or something?"

    Brain Drain

Casey had a really hard time keeping a straight face when Dr Ring read Terrifica the riot act; yes, it was super-mean and she shouldn't laugh, but she had a feeling the masked crimefighter hadn't had a tongue-lashing like that in a long time. And then because she was a good person at heart, she felt sick to her stomach for grinning. Best to focus on the problem at hand. Clearing her throat, Miracle Girl stepped forward; she was quite confident for one so young, with a clear gaze and a quiet strength. "We'll take care of this, Dr Ring, as quietly as we can; you have my word." Then she folded her arms and took a step closer to the projected image, studying their target closely."So what did it copy from you that was so bad? And did it only copy from you, or were there others?"
  19. Once you knew what you had to work with, things became much simpler; no more belly-aching about not having this part or wishing you had this tool. You just took stock of everything you had and made do. The main thing Ana needed was intact drive cylinders and several liters of core coolant; from there, everything else was essentially gravy. While she waited, she stuck her multimeter in damn near every access port she could find, checking for shorts and burned-out circuitry, and praying to the dark god of spare parts that she didn't need to replace a motherboard. The whole time she was climbing around the drive, she was blasting Justin Timberlake's 'SexyBack' through her suit's external speakers; yes, Ana knew she had pretty crappy taste in music, but she didn't really care. Her loudly singing along offkey didn't really help, either.
  20. The massive dog shook itself violently, spraying water all over the town residents huddled in the shelter; it then sat back on its haunches, was surrounded by pale gray mist, and turned into short, damp slender girl wearing a domino mask and leather uniform of some kind. The beautiful girl looked sheepish and shrugged. "Sorry! Then she cleared her throat and proceeded to speak in perfect, accentless local Spanish. <"Hello, my name is Grimalkin, and I've come to help."> She traced a large circle on the wall, which then opened into the little grotto of safety where she'd stashed the four unconscious children she'd rescued from the bus. She reached into the pocket and pulled out the first child, then gently laid her on the floor. "<My powers may seem strange or frightening to you, but I assure you they are safe and I put them all at your disposal."> As she started to bring out the next one, she indicated the outside with a nod of her head. <"A man is bleeding to death out in that bus; I need a volunteer to help me save him.">
  21. Casey frowned as she eyed Errant, and he eyed her; not the social type, apparently. "I look forward to hiting that basement gym; seeing as how I can bench press a few tons, I haven't had a good workout in a while." It seemed the outdoorsy teen's appetite was truly heroic as she tore into her meal with great gusto. Finally she addressed Sakurako again. "So do you need any help setting up your room? Bookshelves, posters, stuff like that? I do good work and I do it fast; just ask Haruko-san." There was a quick blur of movement, and suddenly the blonde was sporting an adorable pair of pigtails. "I do instant makeovers, too; good for when your date shows up an hour early." She gave the new girl a playful wink.
  22. Lynn saw a window of opportunity and she quickly took it; shifting to French as Tona had while stepping away from the group, she kept her voice low. <"Look, I don't know what you two argued about, but I can tell you're the kind of kid who bottles up your emotions; probably feels safer that way, right? If no one gets in, they can't hurt you."> She shook her head. <"But it doesn't work that way; as painful as it is, letting people in, even a stranger like a therapist, is the best way to heal old wounds and exorcise old ghosts. I don't know what it was like where you grew up; I'm guessing a warzone or a wilderness or something, some place where being soft got you killed. But a world at peace, with a pretty girl that loves you? Sounds like a good place to start a new life."> The bookseller cleared her throat and adjusted her long flowing cloak. <"By the way, that offer to talk never goes away; that stands as long as we're both alive, so..."> She shrugged.

  24. I would happily have Grim face off again with the Duke; I think they're ideally suited to be each other's nemeses!
