  1. Casey turned around, smiled and raised a hand in greeting. "Yeah, hi, I'm Casey Blankenship. Just got here myself." Physically she was bigger than the new arrival, in terms of height, weight, and overall build; she smelled vaguely of some sort of piney natural soap, definitely the outdoorsy type. She stepped over to the bed and waved vaguely at her pack. "I hope the left side's okay; either one is fine by me." She paused, looked out towards the hallway and fidgeted with her glasses. "Uh, would you mind if I...used my 'powers' to unpack? It would take like two seconds, and then I'd be out of your way."
  2. Rita Kord Dormitory, Claremont Academy. Saturday, October 18th, 2014, 4:05 pm Casey Blankenship stood in the third floor hallway, surrounded by three suitcases and hefting a huge backpack; her blonde hair was practically up and out of the way, and she wore a red flannel shirt, jeans and light hiking boots. She adjusted her glasses out of habit as she looked up and down the hallway; each door looked exactly like the next, other than the cork-boards used for leaving notes or adding decoration. She fidgeted with her brand-new school ID with its magnetic stripe; the RA had been very specific about the rules if you ever lost your ID. Just get it over with, Case; you'll be fine. She swiped the card through the lock, the little light went green and she pushed the door open; inside, the room looked comfortable but quite barren without any personal belongings in it yet. Without any real preference, she unslung her pack and dropped it on the left-hand bed as she pulled in her wheeled suitcase, leaving the rest out in the hall for now. A quick peek out the window revealed a view to the northwest; the back of the Carter Dorm, a few trees and the athletic field off in the distance. I guess when I'm bored, I could always watch a game from here...assuming we actually get to play any sports...
  3. Ana reached over and opened a compartment on the inside of her right forearm and rapidly pushed a button twenty times, discharging the required amount of golden chits like a Pez dispenser back home. She passed the credits over to the chitinous bartender, then held her index finger over the bar and created five perfect shot glasses in a row out of ice, which she then filled with the clear liquid. Picking up the first one with her ceramic-plated fingers, she held it aloft and gave the server a wry grin. "To your health." She downed it in a go, crushed the glass into fine ice crystals, and then moved on down the line; as she pulverized the third one, her comm chimed gently. Ana rolled her eyes as she raised a hand to her left ear. "Oh crap, just when I started to find my groove..." It was Oskar, of course; she winced and pinched the bridge of her nose as he delivered his message, then nodded. "Sure, no problem; heading back now." With a sigh, she turned to the patron next to her and slid the remaining two shots and the partially-filled bottle their way. "Here, have a present; happy Life Day." Then she rose and got ready to head back to the Zeno.
  4. GM The first gunman dropped like a sack of potatoes, blood streaming from his broken nose as he hit the tiles, out like a light. The second gunman's eyes went wide with shock seeing his partner taken out so quickly, but recovers fast enough to turn his gun on the Rat! For his part, The Man was still down, blood oozing from his chest and into the pool, where it formed a ghastly pink cloud in the water...
  5. Sorry for letting this sit for so long! Between work hours and feeling like crap, the creativity was not flowing so good, but I'm on the mend and ready to party! Gunman's Toughness save: 1d20+1=8 Ha-ha! Still-armed Gunman shoots at Red! 1d20+2=22 Yikes! Damage +3 if it hits! Also I need to edit my earlier post, as pistols don't have Autofire; The Man has only been shot once, but still goes down!
  6. Rage is now active, if that's okay; this is the sort of 'ice cold fury' she inherited from her mother.
  7. Grim felt the blood rising into her face as the sick Dutch bastard prattled on and on, like the world was his personal choo-choo train set; she imagined him lying flat on his belly, idly twisting the phone cord around his fingers as his spindly little legs kicked in the air. The tips of her pointed ears were so hot she thought they might burst into flame at any moment. The blood roaring in her ears almost made her miss Velocity's call; when she answered it, her throat was tight with barely-controlled fury as she held the two phones so both parties could hear her. "Hi Vel. I assume you easily defeated his Ducal-ness, or else he wouldn't have called me again threatening to kill a trainload of innocent people." There was a brief pause. "But it doesn't really matter, since we're not going to play his game anymore; on your way back to the lab, could you grab as much gasoline as you can so we can burn his house to the ground? I think we'll start with the lab and all his cloning equipment. Later!" She hung up both phones at the same time, then turned to Robert and tossed her smartphone to him. "Please answer that if your love calls back; I need to tear this building apart brick by brick." And with that, she calmly conjured up a cricket bat and began to smash everything in sight.
  8. Sigh. Never mind, Grim will just destroy stuff...
  9. On second thought, we shall try Knowledge: BS! First roll: 1d20+5=10 Yuck! Reroll via HP: 1d20+5=22 Success!
  10. Since I doubt she can make that roll, Grim will spend an HP for Inspiration!
  11. Whenever Ana was off-ship she had essentially two motivations: parts and alcohol. Ahe never drank onboard, as it tended to dull one's sense, which an engineer in the depths simply could not afford. But planetside or docked at a station, you'd better believe she'd tie one on! The traditional parts run turned up nothing, so she sought out the nearest watering hole, the more hole-like the better. She was wearing her armored 'snowsuit' with the helmet retracted, which not only kept her cool, but also tended to deter any amorous lifeforms. Approaching the bar, she wearily called out, "A bottle of ethyl alcohol, please, or the closest thing you've got."
  12. Gunman's Unarmed Attack roll: 1d20+1=20 Yikes, he's good! Damage roll if he connects: 1d20+2=17
  13. GM It was child's play to disarm the thug, who moved much too slow to do much about it. For his part, The Man stood there with his arms spread in a semi-crouch, but with a thunderstruck expression on is face; clearly he had not seen the Rat either prior to her sudden appearance. Finally he found his words, which sounded a bit strangled in his throat. "Lady, get the hell out of here; I can take these guys!" He flicked his eyes towards the two gunmen, then back to the faux-redhead. "Just run away and don't look back!" At that point, the other gunman took the opportunity to shoot The Man right in the chest; his silenced pistol made almost no noise as the large assassin fell to the tiles! Meanwhile the Rat's foe shot a fist right towards her face!
  14. Yes, you can sneak attack, and yes, these two are also Minions. Gunman's Strength Roll vs Disarm: 1d20+2=6 Yeah, I think you're okay
  15. Looking down at the small child hugging her leg, Lynn half-laughed and half-cried, then reached out to tussle her hair. "Oh man, I'm sorry, guys; didn't mean to bring everybody down!" She pulled a handkerchief out of the top of he dress, dried her eyes and blew her nose. "Ah; good thing I don't wear make-up anymore, or I'd have racoon eyes, huh?" She made the hanky disappear, then gently squeezed squeezed Ellie's arm. "Presents!" she blurted out abruptly. "I've got lots of presents. Here, let me show you guys a new trick I learned..." Somethings never changed, like Lynn's mercurial emotions and love of giving gifts. The hostess stuck a finger out, then traced a circle in the air about two feet in diameter, and a hole suddenly appeared in mid-air! It was perfectly visible from Ellie's side, somewhat less so than from Min and Erik's. "Let me see what I've got in here-" She reached in and her arm disappeared up to her elbow as she rummaged around wherever was on the other side; fresh air with a hint of a pine forest gently ruffled her hair. First she pulled out a rolled-up Indian blanket, that she handed to Ellie. "This is for you, hermanita; hand-woven wool, perfect for two people to snuggle under on a cold night!" Next Lynn withdrew a beautiful pottery vase, about a foot across, which she gently placed in front of the dryad. "This is for you, Min; handmade from red clay, air-dried and decorated with plant-based dyes. A gift of the Earth." She smiled, hints of tears still in her eyes. "Now, let me see what I've got for the little one..." She climbed halfway into the hole up to her waist, her legs sticking out in the air; suddenly a muffled voice cried out, "Ah-ha! This will do nicely!" She wriggled back out, triumphantly holding a carved wooden doll decorated with colored twine and feathers, which she showed to Eden. "This is for you, little sprout; his name is 'Cloud', and he helps bring the rain." After a second's hesitation, she offered it to Minerva. "Uh, there's some small pieces, so you might...I used to put them on our kids' nightstands, but y'know, use your own judgement." Lynn paused and rested her hands on her hips as she nodded in satisfaction. "Okay, that's it for all the New Mexico stuff; Bill and I raised horses there, and we had lots of Hopi friends. Good times!" Then the changeling got a funny look in her eye as she arched an eyebrow. "Just three left, but these are kinda weird..." She reached back in and pulled out a large crystal, heavy and beautiful, which she placed on the table in front of Ellie, next to the tray of snacks. "This is for Mara; it's pure silicon, from the surface of Mars." Next she pulled out a cheap plastic snow globe, but instead of a cottage and white plastic flakes, it featured a red plastic mountain and swirling red sand; across the front it read in big plastic letters, 'Greetings from Olympus Mons!' She winked as she put it on the coffee table. "For Vince, natch." And now Lynn paused as she looked at each guest in turn, and her tone became more serious. "So as you can see, we also spent some time on the Mars colony; it was beautiful there, but much of that time we were helping fight the Third Colonial War, which was not so beautiful." She paused to gather her thoughts, then looked up into Erik's eyes. "For our services to the colony, Bill and I were given several...tokens of esteem." She reached into the hole in the air one last time, and withdrew a somewhat curved scabbard; rising to her feet, the fae stepped over to the swordsman and stood in front of him. The scabbard was about a three-and-half feet long, made of dark red leather and intricately decorated in platinum. "This is a Martian cavalry saber." She grabbed the hilt with its gorgeous platinum-plated hand guard and drew the blade out a few inches so Erik could see the gleaming steel; her voice got a little tight as she continued. "The weight and balance might seem a bit off; after all, it was designed for use in lighter gravity..." She slid the blade back in place, then presented it to him, her eyes sparkling with tears. "He wanted you to have it, Erik...if I ever saw you again."
  16. Me, too! Deep Freeze also hungers for some action!
  17. Join 2017, s_g! We're the most awesome class EVER! :D
  18. Ah, okay! She's not listed with the other sophomores on the first page, so I didn't know; maybe we should both PM Ari so he adds us? With Shiranui and Trailblazer (assuming they're both sophomores) soon to be showing up as well, the Class of 2017 is filling out nicely! Now all we need are a few more boys!
  19. Miracle Girl is approved! Actually she could end up as Trailblazer's roommate, depending on what year the fairy's in when she arrives.
  20. It's a bit buried in her fluff, but here's the section: I had also been thinking about having her be sort of confidence-driven, so that if her faith in her own abilities is shaken too much, she loses her powers, but not sure if that's a good idea for a paragon. Supercape might love that, though
