  2. Not at all remotely important, but I edited Grim's clothing a bit to reflect her current tastes; she doesn't really do skinny jeans anymore.
  3. Lynn's apartment over Silberman's Books. August 3rd, 2014. 7:54pm A letter had arrived at the Espadas School of Self-Defense and Swordsmanship from Lynn Epstein, with a familiar West End address. Inside, was a handwritten note; the penmanship was graceful, almost archaic, but the writer's voice was unmistakable. The changeling was pacing again; it was humanly impossible to prepare for an evening like this, but Lynn had given it the good old never-finished-college try. The furniture was warm, earthy and inviting, she'd been scooting back and forth between the shop and her kitchen all day working on dinner, and she'd cycled through looks for a good half hour finding just the right balance of relaxed and respectable: a nice understated green summer dress, open-toed wedges and small pearl stud earrings (her current thing). As always, the lanyard with its ring was around her neck, and she fidgeted with it more than usual. Her curly shoulder length hair was gathered up, showing off her graceful neck and the points of her ears. Lynn's eyes flicked over to the clock on the mantelpiece, where it dully ticked down the minutes. Soon. Very soon.
  4. Outside Silberman's Books, the corner of Pratt and Frederick. Monday, August 4th, 2014. 9:58 am Sitting on the stoop in front of her shop, Lynn checked the time on her smartphone again; whoever these girls were, they were far from late, but she really just wanted to get this over with as soon as possible. Her ad had introduced the store owner and future landlady to a broad spectrum of Freedom's citizens, and she was being to feel discouraged. She was basically inviting someone to move into her house, so yes, she was being rather picky, but so far...eyugh. The Poodle Twins. Mr. and Mrs. Bowling Shirt. Patchouli Pete and his Amazing Jacket of Many Smells. I just want some who's more or less normal but still interesting; is that so much to ask? Or have I turned into an old fart? Lynn had on her favorite style of sunglasses, big clunky plastic things from a time gone by, a faded Willy Wonka t-shirt, boot-cut jeans and a pair of light hiking boots; her hair was in a practical ponytail and she fiddled with the ring that hung around her neck.
  5. Tonight, it was all about the pearls. Lynn Epstein had been a fae creature for quite some time, and the fae are defined, if they can be defined at all, by change. In the many years that passed since her transformation, she'd learned how to alter herself in many ways, but sometimes even her basic form had evolved. Since she's learned how to put more of herself into her glamoured creations, she'd lost the ability to fashion metal of any kind. It was annoying, but there were of course workarounds, but they all required a lot of thought and preparation. So then, the pearls. This evening, Lynn was tall, blue-eyed and blonde, wrapped in an icy blue sheath slit far up one leg; perhaps she had watched Frozen a few too many times recently. Her hair was up in an elaborate arrangement that would have cost more than a month's rent for some people; good thing the shapeshifter didn't have to pay for it! There was a string of pearls around her delicate throat, pearl studs on her ears and a pearl bracelet. A white mink stole was draped over her shoulders and a small leather clutch was in one hand. 'Lynda' stepped out of the rented limo, alone and confident, and made her way into the casino. Okay, so as entrances go, this is definitely overkill - yes! I've still got it! - - - - Cred0, one of changeling's new employees had been talking about the exciting world of high stakes gambling, and how High Steaks was the place to go on the Boardwalk. It had been a while since Lynn had been out on the town, but on a whim she decided to hit the streets and see if everying was above board. Thankfully, it wasn't. - - - - The stunning blonde suddenly appeared at 'Peter''s elbow and flashed a dazzling smile. "Could you make that two?"
  6. Grim can make a 25 with Gather Info thanks to Skill Mastery, but let's see if she gets lucky with Knowledge: Civics? 1d20+5=15 Nah!
  7. Not that there's any hurry, but what are we looking at for the rental situation? Both Mali and Tona are interested in the one bedroom apartment, and Mail is willing to share it if Tona is up for it.
  8. Well as a big blonde shiksa goddess, so yeah, kinda the same thing
  9. Grim would be going undercover, as some tall, glamorous thing.
  10. Duh, I forgot Foreshadow is possibly the easiest hero to bring into a thread! For Grim, I'm liking the Cred0 connection; it sort of fits in nice with her 'mother hen' attitude towards her employees.
  11. Snort! Well if you guys want to make this happen, I can start a thread in the West End whenever you want!
  12. Yeah, because Grim just looooooves rich folks
  13. Very true! Looking over her sheet, Kit and Grim actually have a lot in common power-wise (devil girl vs dark fae), so they will probably react strongly to each other. Not enough for Grim to disallow Tona to move in or anything, but mighty make for some fun rp moments.
  14. TK, I'd also still be fine with mail moving in, of course.
  15. Exactly! Rav, if you just want to have Tona move in, with Kit as he roommate or stopping by for frequent visits, I'd be cool with that too; Grim has no issues with same sex partners, though Kit's devilish nature might give her pause...
  16. The bedroom is 9' by 15' with attached master bathroom and a 3' by 6' closet; actually, one of the weak points of the apartment in not a lot of closet space. Kind of long and thin, but there are other perks as well. I need to upload the floorplan when I get the chance.
  17. Actually it will have been conjured out of thin air; no movers to have to worry about!
  18. So let's start figuring out hooks; perhaps foolishly, I got rid of Grim's Connections and Contacts to reflect her three years of being out of the loop, but there are other options. 1. News reports. Either online or in print, or maybe even somthing on a police scanner (I think her HQ might cover that). 2. NPC involvement. Perhaps one of the NPCs in our lives runs up a gambling debt or the like? For Grim's part, I couild see her new hire Cred0 thinking he was smart enought of beat the mob, then getting in over his head. 3. Crazy random happenstance. Silly but still a comic book staple; omne or more Pcs are out for a night on the town, and they see something suspicious. Obviosuly some or all of these can be combined.
  19. Lynn would have no problem getting you guys any furniture; she 'knows a guy'
  20. A nice convertable futon couch/bed in the front room is always an option!
  21. Tuesday, July 29th 2014. Silberman's Books, 2:20 pm. "Okay, so if you've already interviewed and hired them, why do you need my opinion? It's a done deal!" Lynn rubbed her face with oth hands, then peered between her fingers at the four resumes spread before her. "I know, I'm just getting cold feet and second-guessing myself as usual." Then she placed both hands on her desk, palms down. "Actually, that's not true; in combat, I never second-guess myself, because there's just no time. It's just everyday life when I twist my guts in knots." Kiki rolled her eyes. "Well then, pretend this is combat; pretend you've been going through top secret files to assemble the perfect 'retail recon squad', and go from there." The ageless fey looked at her old friend with newfound wonder. "Omigod, that's brilliant! You so deserve the raise I'm about to give you!" The blonde laughed at waved her hand. "Ah, it's noth- a raise?" Lynn nodded vigorously, a huge grin on her face. "Oh hell's yes! You are now earning 13.50 an hour!" Keek held up her hands in triumph. "Sweet! Oh, I've got lots more ideas where that came from!" - - - - Stephen Marcus Lang, aka Cred0 - Computer Operations "He wants to be called 'Credo'?" "Yes, spelled with a zero; it's completely pretentious and stupid, but the guy is a genius. An extremenly annoying genius. Also he'll work for super-cheap if we don't charge him for espresso." "Weird." "Yeah." Gretchen McDaniels - Communications "Wow, this girl just screams 'bitter FreeSA grad'." "Yep. Tons of retail experience plus an encyclopdic history of pop culture hardwired into her brain. I think she changed majors like three times." "Is her music any good?" "Eh, it's okay..." Lance Bettendorfer - Heavy Weapons "Kansas State grad, majored in journalism, got hired by one of the local networks, than lost his job due to cutbacks. Great with tools and the sweetest guy you'll ever meet. Knows his s### and pours a mean espresso shot, too. In short, he's perfect." "Too perfect?" "Pretty much, yeah." "So is he...?" "Y'know, I can't even tell! The guy loves both college football and Moulin Rouge, so it's anyone guess. Personally, I think he's either gay, an alien or a robot." "Can't he be a gay alien robot?" "Actually, that could be it..." Madelyne 'Maddy' Evans - Target Acquistion "The girl is like a machine. Has most of her masters in English Lit, read every book under the sun, sales experience up the ying-yang...plus, she came in with her girlfriend and baby and I was like, 'awwww!'" "Awwwww!" Mrs. Nussbaum - Supply "Everyone loves cookies." "Fair enough."
