  1. I am probably looking at a ground up rebuild at Pl12 based on 250 pp; Shaen built an absolutely beautifully detailed character sheet that was largely wasted on me. The new build would be a bit simpler, and focus on what I actually used; also, I'm thing Grim has now shifted away from ripping people to shreds and is now more focused snares and ranged attacks. I'll start working on it and stick it up in a Character Building thread when I think it's ready for review and such.
  2. Should I start a new thread for the conversion process, kind of like putting her old sheet up and blocks and seeing what parts she does and does not need?
  3. Yeah, this was just brought up in the chatroom. it would take a LOT of work to bring her back down, but it could be done. I will have to think about it. EDIT: On reflection, I would be happy to do it, but I could really use some help with the downsizing!
  4. I instead opted to use 2 pp to bump her Wisdom from 12 to 14, and then used the remaining pp to give her 4 skill points: Handle Animal 1, Pilot 2, Ride 1. These may offer a clue as to where Lynn's been
  5. Would someone be able to change her status from NPC to active? Her sheet is right >here.
  6. Greetings, all! Heritage here, bidding you good morrow and all that. I hope everyone is happy and healthy. Yesterday I popped into the chat more or less at random, just struck by the sudden urge to poke my head in and say hi and see how folk were doing. Everyone was very welcoming and it was nice to see everyone. And then someone suggested I bring Grim back. This is not something I'd given any serious thought for some time, but then a whole lot of ideas popped into my head. What if Grim returned after three years absence, alone with no ring on her finger, and quietly reopened Silberman's Books in the West End, which has been shuttered since her wedding there back in June 2011? I ran my ideas by Quote, who's pretty much retired from play-by-post gaming, and he was cool with it and gave me his blessing. Would this be cool with everyone? I have no plans for having her rejoining the Interceptors, as I think the team has moved on fine without her, but she would presumably still be friendly with them. She would be based out of the bookstore, which is statted up as an HQ on her old sheet, and then she'd bascially be starting her superheroic career over from scratch. I would convert her Connected, Contacts and Well-Informed feats into skill points, both to reflect her disconnected status from the FC heroic 'scene' and to pay for some skills she picked up during her time away. If this would be an issue for anyone in anyway, I'd be totally cool with it; I don't have a pressing need to bring Lynn back, but this concept does have me intrigued.
  7. Fine, be that way! It's called the Lake City Universe (aka LCU) and there's two games set in it, one PL8 at more of a street level ('Home of Heroes') and a PL10 for a space-based team ('Alliance OS1'). So far, so good! (crosses fingers)
  8. Hi guys! Sadly I've come to accept the fact that I've lost my drive to post here; part of it is probably the retirement of Grim, which I think was necessary, but I still miss her muchly. Another factor is I've really grown to like 3rd edition quite a bit and far prefer it to 2nd, and I'm currently very active on another site where I'm running a game set in my comic book universe which is making me blissfully happy. I don't rule out ever coming back in the future, for to me it's an entirely amicable break, which at this point probably comes as a shock to no one; please retire my two characters (sorry about the lost equipment points, Lab partners!) with dignity and respect; perhaps Ecal could say some kind words and pour out some single malt in their honor. I might pop into chat to say hi from time to time, but for now this is sadly good-bye and God bless
  9. When the cute boy approached, Jeena's first reaction was to tense up, but once he started talking, she relaxed considerably; it certainly helped that he was awfully cute. "Oh, I'm so sorry! I heard the commotion over in Hot Topic-" She waved a hand vaguely in the trendy store's direction without tearing her eyes off of Cute Boy. "And my brother's over there, so I was worried..." With a winsome smile, she held up the top. "Do you work here? I'm Dutch, and I don't understand all the American sizes." Oh, don't worry about me, Zach; everything is just fine over here...
  10. Okay, I couldn't resist having Jeena set off the alarm, which I once did as a teenager (got arrested, too!), but if it's too distracting, I can edit my post, Ozob.
  11. Like her brother, Jeena did her share of shopping at Hot Topic, but today she was looking to broaden her fashion palate beyond black, red and dark purple, which lead her just across the mall to the Gap; as she wandered the store, she eyed the other girls present from behind her dark purple shades, noting the ease with which they talked about the trivial events of their lives. She actually envied them; most of them probably had more or less uneventful childhoods, and had never known true hunger or lived with the knowledge. She was just about to approach one of the ditzy shopgirls to ask about a particular top in her size (which she still found terribly confusing) when she got a sending from Zach. The Tektani girl frowned and sent back. I'm in the Gap, Zee, just across from you if your still in Hot Topic. Now she could here the commotion herself; still holding onto the top, she moved closer to the door, forgetting for the moment the plastic security tagged attached to the garment. Be careful, Zach; we don't want to draw any- Bwee-bwee-bwee-bwee! Jeena's face froze as she unwittingly tripped the store alarm. Unwanted attention.
  12. Add her +3, and Cubic gets an 18 for her Initiative.
  13. As I said in the OOC, I'm in.
  14. Sure thing, Bree! Who'd be a better fit, Cubic or Gossamer?
  15. Ooh, me me me me! In other words, Cubic is present ;)
  16. So I survived my move but do not have a internet yet (I have 15 minutes of internet use here at my local library!); I hope to find a good place for wifi in my new stomping grounds, so hopefully I'll be back on again soon!
  17. If you could do one last post for Cole, I would personally appreciate it Just a reaction to her look would be cool. I might do a final one for Jeena responding to Zach, but otherwise I think we're done here.
  18. Like Gizmo, I'm moving this weekend, and like him my posting is going to be spotty for a while, though there is a library nearby which I expect to know intimately very soon. I'm glad most folks seem to have avoided the worst Irene had to offer. Hope to see you all soon!
  19. Estelle stiffened at Mad Dog's touch, a rictus smile frozen on her face as she gently disentangled herself from his embrace. "Yes, Mad Dog, it's very flattering; it's a shame I'm dating someone else, a veterinarian named Gregory, or else I would respond to your very forward advances in kind." She hastily took as seat, whispering harshly to her masked boyfriend. "What are you, drunk? Estelle and Gregory are dating, not Gossamer and Mad Dog! You're the one with the secret identity to hide; you're coming on to me in costume just makes me look cheap!" She signaled a waitress and ordered a Scotch on the rocks.
  20. Dr Estelle de Havilland approached the group, wearing her labcoat over her usual blue-and-silver jumpsuit; lately she'd been wearing the coat a lot, more as a security blanket than anything else. Since the announcement of the Gorgon's arrival, she'd felt particularly useless; unlike many of her Lab partners, her brain moved at normal human speed, and organic chemistry didn't jump to the front of your mind when you thought of skills and knowledge bases best to counter an interstellar threat of global proportions. Mostly she'd been doing 'facework', speaking on the Lab's behalf to various media outlets and governmental bodies, assuring the public as best she could that the Lab was working day and night to tackle this seemingly insurmountable problem; she felt a bit like a TV weather girl, but if it freed up better heads than her's then it was not a wasted effort. When she wasn't on camera she was on the phone, calling in every favor she had, every celebrity, politician and scientist to obtain money, supplies and transportation for the less fortunate residents of Freedom who might have difficulty being evacuated. She maxed out every credit card she had ordering blankets, MREs, water and first aid kits for distribution to aid stations up and down the Eastern Seaboard, and still she felt like she hadn't done enough. So it was a weary Gossamer who slowly made her way to the gathered super-scientists; she hadn't slept well for several days, but snuck in a nap whenever she could. Exhaustion could be a deadly enemy in a crisis situation, and she feared letting down both her coworkers and the entire human race. Drinking coffee from a large Thermos, she waved at the others; the rings under her eyes were quite clear. "Hello, hello." A slender golden tendril pointed at the suit 'Clad was working on. "That's it then, I take it?" It was clear what the structures on the back of the helmet were for; she was suddenly struck with a wave of claustrophobia at the thought of wearing it, and her stomach did a little flip. Then she noticed the young man standing there with whom she was unfamiliar. "Forgive my rudeness, I don't believe we've met." She extended her hand. "Dr Estelle de Havilland, also known as Gossamer. A pleasure."

  22. While she was relived to learn that her brother hadn't spilled all their secrets, Zach's rather self-pitying tone was starting to get under Dust-Speck Jeena's skin, and she shot him an angry sending. Hey, snap out of it, Z! A Tektani girl can break your heart the same way a human girl can! Then her angry tone softened in his mind. I'm sorry it didn't work out, but to be honest, maybe it's a good thing; you really can't date Gwen without her little 'kids' coming along for the trip. She smiled, and her thoughts took on a playful, slightly naughty tone. I mean, what if you kissed her and suddenly tasted leaves in your mouth? She gave Zach a little time to ponder that odd thought before continuing. And as for why we're helping these humans? It's what we do, isn't it? We were trained to fight injustice and unfair treatment; it doesn't matter what form of sentient life is being oppressed or victimized, cruelty is still cruelty, no matter what color your skin is. These followers of the Worm sound like bad news, and these three brave humans are unprepared to fight them; what more is there to say?
  23. The Tektani girl visibly cringed as the happy vine reached out to her, but she kept a smile plastered on her face; as the leafy appendage touched her arm, she began an internal count. One, two, three, four... Jeena nodded and waved, noting the new girl's apparent unfamiliarity with human customs. "Hi." Her eyes flickered down to her arm. Fifteen, sixteen, seventeen... Once she got to thirty, Jeena gently lifted the vine off her arm and did her best to pat it affectionately; to be honest, she hadn't made much progress in her attempts to build up a tolerance to Gwen's green friends, but she gave herself points for sticking to it. "That sounds like a good idea; do you have a roommate assigned yet? If not, I can run and grab you some towels; you can even warm up in me and Gwen's room, right?" She looked to the florapath for approval. Of course, it was more than simple altruism that inspired her actions; any chance to learn more about another alien (suspected alien, she reminded herself) should not be passed up.
  24. Jeena nodded. Okay, right, only as needed; we don't want to-wait, what? Her eyes narrowed. You told Gwen, didn't you? I bet you already sent to her! She shook her head and returned her focus to the conversation at hand. "As my brother said, we can see in the dark, and between our abilities we should go undetected; we'll alert you to any dangers we see as soon as we see them." For the sake of appearances, she kept any criticisms of Zach in the mental arena; no sense in looking unprofessional! Jeena rolled her eyes as she shrunk down to a mere mote of dust and took to the air. Yes, I'm the trusting one; no leafy redhead is going to pry any secrets out of you! Just tell me you didn't tell her we're aliens, and I won't punch you in the forehead.
