  1. Jeena nodded and happily complied; Corbin seemed like a nice boy, and she could always adapt to meet his height, though her scale would be a bit off... Her cheeks got a little pink as she refocused on her task. When Morgan waved at her, she smiled and sort of bobbed her head and unconsciously gave him a resistance salute; a closed fist, palm outward, with the first two fingers at her temple. After all the months and years spent living a desperate struggle, it was nice to have time to think about boys again, though that thought made her think of a certain boy her age back home, whom she never got a chance to talk to alone... The giantess felt the tears well up in her eyes, and furtively wiped them away as she threw herself into helping Corbin.
  2. Once again, Jeena adopted a tone of indifference. "Yeah, okay, good to know." But inside her heart leaped; she had no idea what one did at an art club meeting, but it was going to be new and exciting. "That might be a good idea for me; I haven't done most of fighting at my normal size, so working on that would be helpful." Then she looked to the faces of her fellow students as she eagerly rubbed her hands together. "So, is anyone up for some tests of reflexes and skill?"
  3. "Oh, all right." Gossamer peeled off her jumpsuit and threw on a silk bathrobe she kept in the wardrobe for just such a purpose. She went behind the bar, grabbed two glasses, a bottle of scotch and filled the ice bucket. Reclining on the sofa, she fixed them both a drink while she waited for her boyfriend's latest romantic gesture. Estelle applauded and shook her head. "Only a very secure man can seduce his girlfriend by playing a George Michael song." Smiling, she gestured for him to join him. "That was wonderful; can I see it?"
  4. The giantess nodded and scooted a bit closer to Corbin (being careful not to tear up any of the green coating of plant life); she held up large hand in greeting, and then started to lay down the boardwalk sections. She'd reverted to silence based on Vicky's somewhat pained expression when she last spoke; it would be so much easier once she felt comfortable enough to send to others. In time she hoped to develop her sending technique until she could speak with more than one person at the same time; it made communication much easier, and she'd seen it employed during raids back in the war. Jeena also couldn't help but notice the easy contact between Gwen and this mysterious Brian fellow, who she really hadn't met yet. She sent a sly message her brother's way; he didn't always have time to respond, but for his sake she felt the message couldn't really wait. If you really like Gwen, just thought you might want to know another student by the name of Brian who shares the same opinion. Remember, 'the booka that gets away is always the best eating.'
  5. "Oh...my...God." Lynn had to lean back just to take in the enormity of what Doctor Viktor Archeville had become; was it even possible to save him anymore? And should they even try? "I like the way you think, Eli! Best battle cry ever!" Grim closed her eyes in concentration as her entire body was wreathed in pale gray vapor; wherever it touched, torn skin was stitched closed, bruises faded and her clothing was repaired. In but a few seconds, she was completely unharmed and ready for action! Pumping a fist in the air, she shouted in triumph. "Yes! Elfin f***ing Magic for the win!" As lightening stuck the earth and the foul abomination (sadly, to little visible effect), the tiny changeling turned to call out to the rest of her team, shouting to be heard over the cacophony of Thrude's thunderous attacks. "Guys, I have a really bad idea I wanna try! Get ready to back me up!"
  6. Grim is going to use Extra Effort to stunt Healing 5 (Extra: Action, Flaw: Personal) off her Glamour (Morph) power to clear her Staggered condition; since she's got a CON bonus of +4, she can 'Take 1' and automatically make it. She could do an even higher Healing rank, but as Shaen pointed out, that not even necessary. She will then spend an HP to clear the resulting Fatigued condition.
  7. Jeena found the tour to be very interesting; the Claremont campus had many features similar to the Academy where her and her brother were raised and trained, though of course they were all above ground. She somewhat dismayed to see she'd be spending so much time out in the sunlight walking between building, but in time she could probably fly about at greatly reduced size to reduce her travel times. It would be so much easier if the building were linked by tunnels... Despite the amount of outdoor exposure it would most certainly entail, she agreed to help Gwen with her construction project, since it would be both educational and give her more time to improve her relationship with her roommate. The sacrifices I make... The Tektani girl was intrigued by the exotic devices Vicky described; they sounded somewhat similar to the flextest machines from her Academy days. The pale-skinned girl cleared her throat and held up her hand. "I have two questions, Vicky. Firstly, are the machines you mentioned in the lounge used to improve hand-eye coordination? Because if so, I would like to try them; I find them very useful and also entertaining. And secondly, I heard something about an 'art club'? I don't mean to imply that I want to join, I'm mostly just curious." Jeena tried very hard to look disinterested about her last question, but was noticeably leaning forward a bit on her toes.
  8. To quote the Skipper from Gilligan's Island, "Can you say that in English, Professor?" Namely what are we saving against and what happens is we fail? And what do you mean by EnviroControl? I don't want to know anything that will spoil any hideous, reality-bending surprises, but just a bit of a heads up would be nice. And also, phenomenally awesome/horrifiyng post, Doc; you just keep digging Viktor's grave deeper and deeper, doncha? ;)
  9. Technically Grim's a student there, but she's now an NPC.
  10. When the last of the panels was unpacked, Jeena wiped her massive hands on her pants and sighed with satisfaction; it was nice to do simple physical labor. She turned back to Gwen and was about to speak when she frowned; at this size, her voice was very loud, but she didn't feel she knew anyone well enough to start sending, so she opted to whisper. She wondered just how amusing the sight of a whispering giant might be to the others. Leaning forward, she cupped her massive hand slightly, more out of habit than to make her voice easier to hear. "Okay, everything's unpacked; so what's next?"
  11. Jeena nodded, then looked over her shoulder. "Okay, I'm gonna try something; I haven't had a good stretch in a while, and there's plenty of room here, so..." She took a few steps backwards to get a little growing room, carefully lowered herself to the lawn and then pushed herself to her full size! If she were standing, she'd be thirty-two feet tall; sitting down, the top of her head was still over fifteen feet in the air. The massive girl smiled, gave Gwen a thumbs up, and then began unpacking the glass panels like she was building a model kit, arranging the various panels on the grass as she hummed contentedly.
  12. Estelle snorted in disgust. "Everything about him is a cliche; did you see his ludicrous guitar, with the flaming skull decals? Honestly!" She happily climbed on the back of the Harley, as always forming a golden helmet out of her hair (it seemed a senseless waste to buy one, plus it would never be as comfortable as making her own) and putting her arms around her boyfriend's muscular torso. As they roared through the streets on the way back to their loft, the blonde heroine yelled to be heard over the motorcycle. "I really do need to find more excuses to play in public! I find like it more and more!"
  13. Jeena took half of Corbin's forearm in her oversized grip. "Jeena, Vandermol. Nice to meet you." She returned to the digging, but found Vicky had teleported away the rest of the dirt needed for the foundation, and one of the new boys began assembling the basic structure using...what? She'd never seen so many different abilities used at one time; back in the resistance, specially-trained children like herself and Zach mostly supplemented regular forces in the field, or were given solo assignments. Coordinated abilities on this scale threw her just a bit, and she found herself asking for orders. "Uh, Gwen, what should I do next? I can be bigger, much smaller or my normal size. Whatever's best for the project."
  14. "Interesting." So in a sense, the plants were somewhat parasitic in nature; Jeena had a feeling she'd have lots of questions for Gwen in the months to come, but decided to let the issue drop for the time being. After tolerating the alien sensations on her arm for over a minute, she finally withdrew her arm, quickly but without any sort of violent force that might damage the vines. "Okay, that's enough for today's session." She smiled nervously. "We'll try and go a bit longer next time." Jeena sent back, I know; it's strange to think that it was easier to grow up in a war zone, but at least we knew where we stood. Here everything seems so uncertain, but I agree, I think we're making good progress, too. "Oh, that's great!" Jeena quickly dumped her trash of in the receptacle and returned her tray, as she'd seen the others do, then she queued up next to Gwen and dramatically lowered her shades back over her eyes. "Prepared to entire hostile environment!"
  15. From the palm of Colt's hand came a small bleary voice. "So where do I go?" The pint-sized pixie took to the air, a little wobbly at first but then she was able to hover in place long enough to resume her normal size. Judging from her hobbled stance, Grim was still in a great deal of pain, and there was a thin trickle of blood from one nostril, her left eye was red from burst capillaries and the left side of her face was one massive blue-black bruise. The shapeshifter limped over to Colt's side and sagged against him. "I think I heard someone mention Blackstone, but I'm not sure; my ears are still ringing from the thunderclap."
  16. "Will do." With great care, Jeena selected a flaky disk and took a bite; delicious! If she wasn't careful, she would get damn fat on this planet! She took the biggest shovel she could find, then added a good three feet to her height; now some eight feet tall, she easily stuffed the rest of the sweet treat into her mouth and started to dig, making quick work due to her prodigious strength. Other than Jeena, she really hadn't talked much to the other students, and she was still feeling a bit isolated, but for now she was content to work alone. On her home planet, with the many cavern collapses, everyone was good at digging; without really meaning to, the Tektani girl began to softly sing an old excavation song she learned as a child. "Reeski potho mahri, nes oorta kolan saahri..."
  17. Despite her best efforts, Jeena flinched just a bit when the curious vines touched her pale skin, though her expression was tightly controlled; she looked like a child at the petting zoo encountering her first tarantula. She barely acknowledged Vickiy's presence, so focused she was on the sentient plant. "So how do they see, and is it the full visible light spectrum? Can they fully detach from your body, or must at least some part of the...plant remain in contact with you?" She was genuinely curious, but she also spared a quick glance in Zach's direction, somewhat envious of the more ordinary conversation he appeared to be having. I have vines crawling all over my arm; how are you doing, big brother?
  18. Estelle handed the guitar back to the roadie, then cocked her head to one side as she looked up at the lights. "Well, there was some property damage as well, so we probably should...actually security might just grab him once he's offstage." She pointed over to several men in black T-shirts. "There, you see, they have him; there are probably some officers in the park as well. Oh, thank you!" One of the roadies handed her a bottled water, which she happily gulped down. "Ah, that hit the spot! That was actually a lot of fun, despite the unfortunate circumstances. So, home?"
  19. Estelle beamed with appreciation. "Excellent, wonderful, you're a prince!" The blonde chemist/superhero/guitarist audibly groaned and covered her face; this buffoon fit every bad rocker stereotype known to man; the fact that he was actually a very talented performer just made it more painful. If he actually put his mind to it, he could be a real star and not just a gifted criminally-minded poseur. Grabbing the axe out of the air with one hand, Gossamer smiled sweetly. "I plan to." At this point in her life, Estelle honestly only had limited experience performing before a live audience, but she felt her heart pumping with excitement; in a way, she felt a little guilty for doing this, but she reminded herself that it might just avoid a hand-to-hand melee that would be far more dangerous. She quickly checked the tuning on her Gibson, then stepped to the mike. "First of all, I'd like to apologize to all the dedicated jazz aficionados here tonight; I know this wasn't the sort of show you were expecting this evening. One two three four!" And with that, Gossamer unleashed the furies and lit up the stage; her fingerwork was the best she'd done in years, and to sweeten the deal for the first time she actually used her hair as part of the performance. The thought had always struck her as being rather crass, but right now she needed every edge she had; mostly she used it for some rather spectacular slide effects, leaving her actual fingers to do most of the work, but she threw in some 'hair picking' for a little pizzazz. The humbuckers on her Gibson practically glowed with pure awesome as she brought her solo home, like crash-landing a 747 into a wall of lightening. Whump-whump-whump-whump-waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! Sweat pouring down her face, Estelle calmly returned to the mike. "Thank you, Freedom City." She turned to Guitarmageddon and arched an elegant eyebrow. "Well?"
  20. Against her own better judgment, Jeena had agreed to help her roommate assemble some sort of transparent plant shelter on the grounds of the campus; having grown up in a series of underground cavern communities warmed by Tektan's magma core, heat didn't bother her very much, but sunlight, on the other hand, was most certainly not her friend. The fair-skinned girl came trudging out from the dorms, wearing dark clothing that covered almost every inch of skin, including a black hoodie and baseball cap, and of course her signature sunglasses. Unlike most of the others present, all of her clothing looked relatively new. "Hi Gwen!" Shielding her eyes, she noted the two boys present, one of whom was a bit older than the rest of them. "Hello there. Jeena Vandermol, new student and sunscreen poster child."
  21. Nevermind, I didn't see the date; Jeena doesn't arrive at Claremont until the end of July. Carry on!
  22. Just to be clear, I'm not implying Jeena has scars from like a suicide attempt or something; I just assume as a girl who grew up fighting in a resistance movement, she probably sustained a few cuts or burns over the years that didn't get the best medical treatment in the field. She's a war child, not a girl with borderline personality disorder. ;)
