  1. At first when their mentor and sponsor appeared out of the blue in an apparent foul mood, Grim was afraid it was going to be a repeat of the whole Avenger debacle all over again, but instead it was just the friendly mad scientist's idea of a joke. "Doc, don't scare me like that!" But as he continued to speak, Grim's ears couldn't help but notice his drastiaclly reduced accent. Huh. Well maybe he's taking speech classes of something. When the film selection was finally made, Grim eagerly dove for the DVD cabinet. "Awesome, Incredibles it is! Hey, if we're gonna watch the greatest superhero film of all time, we should do a double feature with Sky High; it might help Jill get ready for her first year at Claremont!" Seeing as the night's events were going to be far more innocent than she first expected, the faeling slipped out of her working clothes and into a full set of Freedom College sweats and made a beanbag to curl up in.
  2. The shapeshifter was happy to hear Eli's powers were more under control than she feared for a moment, but it did sound like he could use more training in that area. Not doubt Jack would have him whipped into shape in no time. Poor Eli. All this talk of combos and dual powers was very intriguing, and all kinds of ideas came springing into the changeling's mind. "I know, right? Hey, you haven't mentioned any hidden talents, Mona; got an ace-in-the-hole we don't know about?" Judging from hewr innocent expression, she was genuinly curious.
  3. Just to be clear, I didn't post what Grim sees as far as the Tower of London goes because I wasn't sure if you had something special planned for that famous structure, Cape, so I didn't describe anything yet.
  4. Grim was uncharacteristally silent as she sat down on a holo-log and did her best to hide her inner turmoil; she obviously didn't have the full details, but the relevant facts included a bad breakup, a 'speedster chica' (Zephyr?) and an apparent psychotic meltdown involving a fast-moving car and the junior prom. What the hell happened to that kid? I'm gonna email him, or I guess maybe 'Lenya' should... Attempting to jump back into the conversation, Lynn shook her head and refocused. "Uh, I came up with this game called 'Apples and Oranges', kinda like Dance Dance Revolution on super-steroids." She indicated Jill with a wave of her hand. "That's the one I showed you, remember? Maybe we can set up a multiplayer sometime."
  5. Grim was very disturbed by this Red Bolt fellow; the thought that a former hero could turn so bad was frightening, and he was apparently some fairly lame hero from back in the 60s. What if one of the heroes she knew went bad? Not Avenger (she was doing her best to keep giving him the benefit of the doubt), but Doc Arch or Dark Star, or even Psyche? The though made her shudder. As Red Bolt rambled on with his wacky Renfield routine, Grim's eyes wandered over the mural, looking for additional hints about this 'Shepard' and his connection to both Red Bolt and the day's events, muttering to herself under her breath. "Might the Shepard be an alien? That glass bubble full of people and animals suggests some kind of Noah's Ark, but instead of a flood there's some kinda war or apocalypse. That would be 'cleansing' in the horrible 1990s Balkan sense, I'm guessing..."
  6. Initiative time for Gossamer! 1d20+7=22 Of course I think she now bruised and stunned for one round.
  7. Grim had been pretty quiet for most of the tour, hanging back while doing her best not to look like she was hanging on Erin's every word; for the most part she was trying to suck up any stray intel in case she ever had to go back undercover at Claremont, but a part of her still felt a connection with the school, even though her time there was very short. At the mention of Breakdown's ejection from the team, her eyes actually widened a bit; Eddie was the closest thing to a friend she had at Claremont, and despite herself she worried about the poor boy. "I'm sorry, Erin, I didn't mean to snoop but these darn things are like radio telescopes." She flicked one pointed ear with a finger. "So is Breakdown still at Claremont, or is he off on his own? I partnered with a him a few times in the field, and he seemed okay back then." When Vince powered up the jungle sim, she barely seemed to notice, so focused she was on the teenager's response.
  8. Grim listened very intently as Eli described how his powers worked, which was all pretty interesting; the part about his electricity rang a few bells, sinve her own physcis teacher mother taught her years ago that high amps were the thing you really had to watch out for. And knowing that Eli literally was looking far ahead and calcualting his path with his super-fast brain made the young shapeshifter appreciate him even more. But the last thing she said puzzled her a bit. "Wow, that was all good stuff to know, Eli; you actually are somewhat remotely cool." She grinned and gave him a playful wink, but then her brow furrowed in thought. "I do have one question, though: if you're afraid of 'zap frying' someone when you touch them, how would you pull off an evac? I mean, wouldn't that involve you carrying someone while you're generating all that electricity?"
  9. Gossamer is tired of hearing these Grue yappin'; she throws the one she's grappled at the one who just tried to hit her. To Hit with hurled Grue: 1d20+10=26 I think her Toughness DC is supposed to by 20 and not 25, as it's listed on her sheet.
  10. Gossamer blocked her face whith both arms as millions of shrapnel micro-blades flew through the air, tearing the room apart; they had to take these damn shapeshifters down fast, or there was no telling how many lives would be lost. These Grue certainly did love to hear themsleves talk! Estelle began whipping her captive Grue around and around the room like an amusement park ride gone mad as she tossed back a reply. "Oh, I wasn't talking about your amorphous bodies; I was refering, of course, to your limited intellect, predictabe invasion tactics and stagnant lack of creativity. It's the same damn script over and over again, isn't it? Because a hivemind always rots from within!" With as much force as she could manage, the fighting chemist hurled her prey at the chatty Grue who tried to strike her.
  11. Gossamer stood dramatically with her hands on her hips and looked the faux-Médée up and down before arching a delicate eyebrow. "Really? That's all you could think up on the spot? I could certainly-" But then two nasty-looking humainds appeared out of thin air and leaped at the blonde heroine; her right hand reached for her armband to activate her powersuit, but she was too slow. Estelle was able to dodge one of the fiend's claws, but the other brute struck her face so hard she saw stars. Good Lord, she's a real sorceress! :o
  12. Too bad Goss didn't have her progtective suit acxtivated yet! Toughness save: 1d20+4=8 Yeah, that calls for a reroll for sure! Toss another HP on the fire. Reroll Toughness save: 1d20+4+10=17 D'oh! Well she's in some kinda pain, that's for sure.
  13. I was waiting for darius to psot, but I'm more than happy to do a Grim post reacting to Eli's power display to kick-start this one again.
  14. Grim frowned slightly at the young woman's reaction to her outfit; maybe she was drawing too much on pictures of her relatives from the old country? Still, she liked the look (based on her reflection in a pub window) and was relucatant to change it. "Actually the thickness of material makes no difference either way; cold to doesn't bother me anymore, but the touch of iron pretty much melts anything I make anyway." The faerie paused as she glumly surveyed her environment; there was far more wrought iron about than in even the oldest neighborhoods in Freedom. "Besides, the clothes I'm wearing are...uh, well they're made out of me, for lack of a better word. Nothing to get between me and and the ol' pig iron. And even if it's just within a few feet of me I start to get a little faint." She slowly shook her head as her gaze continued to fall upon this version of London as she muttered to herself. "Yep, not the best mission to volunteer for, Grimmie..." Taking the odd little device from Miss Wells, Grim held it arms length as she trudged onwards through the cold. "Okay, I call the Tower of London!" Ducking into an alley, she shifted into her pixie form and flew through the air, high above the city and its oppresive tangle of black twisted metal, clutching the now very large copper device with both arms. She always wanted to see the Tower, but the main reason she picked it was because she was fairly sure she'd be able to find it.
  15. The leather-clad faerie waved a hand nonchalantly. "Hey, blending is what I do best, guys!" A swirling cloud of mist obscured Grim for a few seconds, and when it parted she'd clearly shifted back to her old less-imposing self while adopting a more fitting appearance for their new locale, complete with lace-up boots and a small purse. "See? I could pass for a local!" She looked thougthfully at her fellow dimensional travelers. "Y'know if you want to save some cash, I'm sure me and Edge can cough up some more appropriate duds for everybody." Then the changeling's brow furrowed with concern as she leans closer to the luckwielder. "But be careful with the money-making, sport, because you might have done more harm than good. Any legitimate buisness is gonna think those scruffy guys stole all that tinsel, which could land them in the slammer or drive them to a fence to try and pawn it, which opens up a whole 'nother kettle of fish." She shrugged. "I'm just sayin', these things have consequences."
  16. Diplomacy reroll mit der HP: 1d20+16=35 Booyah!
  17. Grim is activating her Enhanced Charisma. Diplomacy check: 1d20+16=20 Grr, should have trusted Skill Mastery! I'm gonna spend an HP for a reroll, but that takes about 10 minutes on this crappy netbook and I have to go to work; I will see if i can sneak on my PC at work and post the reroll. Hate! Netbook!
  18. Grim rolled her eyes at these poor clowns; clearly the early labor reformers were not the most educated. However she was once again impressed by the verbal skills of her fellow...uh, was Carrie actually a heroine? Miss Wells seemed to think so, based upon her wind-up science stuff. Anyways, it didn't look like the unwashed Luddites were buying it; they were pretty well brainwashed with half-memorized propaganda leaflets from the sound of it. With a whoosh and a swirl of mist, the shapeshifter resumed her full size (still smallish, but no longer wee) and stood at Cannonade's side, arms folded defiantly across her chest. The petite brunette nodded; she took a deep breath to speak, and as she did so she literally grew a foot, and her face took on the stern countenance of a zealous suffragette. "She's right; do you want to end up in prison, where you can do nothing? I'm sure your life sucks, but if you're in jail, who's gonna bring home the food to your wife and children? Who's gonna shovel coal into the furnace when it gets cold? Who's gonna pay the rent that keeps you from living in the street, wandering through the snowdrifts while your children's teeth are chattering? Is that worth the thrill of smashing some machinery?"
  19. Edits for Grimalkin, using 8 pp: 6 pp to buy Protection 6. Grim has been way below caps in Toughness for far too long! Her body's continued faerie evolution has made her more resistant to damage. 2 pp to increase her Fortitude save up to +12. Still below caps, but better. Edits for Gossamer, using 6 pp: 2 pp to increase Fortitude save to +10 4 pp to increase Will save to +10 Doktor'd, except +2 to Gossamer's Fort increased it to +8; it had added up to +6 but there was an error in there.
  20. Tiny little Grim accepted Carrie's offer and alighted gently on her lap, weighing hardly a thing as she neatly folded her wings; she was still pretty nervous, but excited to see what this other version of Earth looked like. The amazing yet terrifying machine made all kinds of crazy sounds and soon it was apparent they were somehow moving. But then things went horribly awry and there was (to Grim at least) a massive explosion that sent her flying through the air; it took all her skill to dive and dart out of the path of huge chunks of iron flipping end over end through space. Despite the status of Miss Wells' contraption, it appeared as though they'd arrived, judging from the adorably scruffy street rats Edge was offering food. Huh, I guess he does his own version of conjuring; I think that's new. Not to be outdone, Grim flew around the boy's heads, creating warm scarves and jackets for the wee lads. "There, that should keep out the chill; you kids need shoes, too?" But then the surly laborers showed up with implements of destruction, eying the dimension hopper with ill intent. Then this Cannonade guy did a surprising thing, unmasking himself and attempting to appeal to their hearts and minds. Wow, so very eloquent! But just in case the ruffians weren't feeling very reasonable, the changeling flew to hover just above and behind Cannonade's left shoulder, ready to lend her tiny fists to the struggle.
  21. It's my own damn fault for not thinking about what the steampunk era is built on; anyways, it's fun to face new challenges! IC post will happen tonight.
  22. Sorry I took so darn long to post here, Q; I initially saw this thread going in a different direction, but in many ways I can't imagine anything I had planned can top a wedding proposal! Gimme a day or so to figure some stuff out, and feel free to PM if you have ideas as well.
  23. She nodded and looked up at her fiance (ooh, that had a ring to it!) and smiled. "Yep, we really are." She frowned slightly. "I'll have to work on my family a bit as far as Doc goes; I mean sure, he has every right to be there, and should be, but the minute they hear that German accent..." She closed her eyes and sighed. "We'll make it work, somehow; I might have to lay on the charm with a spackle knife, and be extra-extra-radiant on the actual day." Lynn chuckled at the thought. "Those wedding photos are gonna kick some serious ass..." At last she opened her eyes and stepped on tiptoe to kiss her beau. "Alright, enough chit-chat; let's get to work!" She playfully dragged him into the expansion side of the store, with all its empty bookshelves.
  24. Let Tryrar take my spot; I've yet to post anything in this thread, and with my current access woes it seems best to give a new PC the slot. Enjoy, Tryrar!
  25. Well Grim may be a PL15 character, but her Toughness save is +9, insanely below caps; if I can get her edit approved in the next few days, can I say she has better toughness for the next time she has a check? Toughness save: 1d20+9=24 Blow an HP for a reroll, since I don't want to miss when there's iron involved Reroll Toughness save: 1d20+9+10=26. Yes! And yeah, we probably want to have the reference to lending the jacket edited ;)
