Giz, I believe Jaci is up!
-
I just wanted to get some thoughts down here in the forums, as well as get a measure of interest from players on an idea I've been stewing on for sometime. Young Lynn Epstein (aka Grimalkin) turns 22 on June 17th, so there's gonna be a party for sure, but more important from a story point of view she's going to inherit Silverman's Books, an old funky bookstore that's been in her mom's side of the family for sometime. But this is no ordinary bookstore; it was once the base of operations for Ira Silverman, aka the Amazing Al-Kazar, a minor Golden Age stage magician/mystic/adventurer-type who vanished back in 1957. The bookstore will be an HQ (not replacing the Brownstone, of course!) and my plan is to have it linked to an alternate/pocket dimension called the Palace of Brass in the land of the Djinn. This apparently links up well with some stuff from Edge's past, and Ace Danger is the Golden Age incarnate, so there are at least two non-Interceptor characters with potential story hooks. As I said, this is very much in development and I may need help from a GM, but I just wanted to get some feelers out. Based on Hebrew mysticism, I see some Indiana Jones potential here if we can make it work.

I sent a PM to Cy about stats on the big ol' demon, but he's not sure if her still has them; if not, we'll just forge ahead and wing it.

Estelle called over to the Flarerider's exotically beautiful pilot. "Uh, Myshel? I think the asteroid is responding to our attack; it's lighting up like a Christmas tree. I think this is usually the time when someone calls for evasive action?" Her eyes frantically darted from display to display, looking for some clue as to how she could best help the crew from her current position. "What should I do, captain?" If the situation wasn't so dire, she would have been amused to hear herself say that, but there was little time for jocularity at the moment.

Up until now, even with all the fighting and property damage the whole crazy evening had still felt a bit like a joke to Estelle, no doubt because she was a neophyte to Archeville's world, and superheroics in general. But the terror in his voice shattered that illusion, and she finally realized all this was deadly serious asd she began tearing all the connecting cables apart "No...no!" How could she be so ignorant? By her failure, Gossamer had allowed this to happen; somehow she could have prevented this, if she hadn't been so slow or treated it like a ludicrous game. Who knows what damage she'd released by letting the secrets out of this mad genius' mind, like some idiotic Pandora opening her box? The hairweilder slammed her prey up against the ceiling as she hissed at him through gritted teeth. "Who did you sell it to? Who?!"

Okay, I edited my post; is that enough to finish the job?

Attack w/ Claws: 1d20+12=15 Yeah, right! Wait, that still might hit with him down, right? Also maybe flat-footed? Claws -- DC 25/Toughness (27 w/ Sneak Attack) -- Damage
-
Weird, it never occurred to me that Grim could still use her Claws while in her 'Gloop and Gleep'-style form; freaky!
-
There was a rush of wind and then Faye felt a light touch on her shoulder, just an innocent little thump, but from the point of contact there spread a disturbing sensation as her muscles rapidly locked up, leaving the mighty Red Queen completely and utterly helpless. Fear gripped the Irish thief's guts when she realized the depth of her peril; if she was unable to move, she was unable to focus her eldrich energies, and could therefore do nothing to free herself. Trapped inside her own body, her mind shrieked in terror! No! No no no no no! He got me! I can't move! Help!
-
Goss and Grim are both still in!
-
As a reminder, here's the layout of the upper floors of the Brownstone.

It was a huge relief to see that Viktor was apparently intact, though of course only time would tell if his recovery would be complete. "We're in a makeshift lair where someone tried to steal your mind, though things are more or less under control. Do you always mumble about polymers when your knocked unconscious? It's actually rather endearing." She started to loosen the straps holding Dr. Archeville while bringing her captive within the German scientist's line of sight. "Does this fellow look familiar to you? Apparently this was all part of a violent yet childish plot to disgrace you."
-
Gossamer's first shot is a straight-up Strike, to learn more about her opponent. To hit: 1d20+10=26 DC 25 Toughness save vs Damage.
-
Before the fight began, Gossamer used long strands of her hair to set up several battered Marshall stacks around the arena, stringing cables under the seats, back and around to a digital playback system. She looked over her shoulder and smiled at the gathered crimefighters as she checked all the wiring. "Anyone who wants to use this equipment can feel free, and don't worry if something gets broken; it can all be trashed." Once the blonde heroine made sure the last lead was in place, she stepped to the edge of the ring, nodding happily as the first guitar chords of Dokken's 'Tooth and Nail' began to growl loudly through the speakers. She shook her head, and her amazing locks spread out behind her like a menacing line of golden storm clouds. Her pleasant smile was in direct contract to the writhing mass of shimmering strands she commanded. "Are you ready, Knight?" Unsure of her opponents full abilities, she chose to start simple, firing a thick golden pseudopod at blinding speed right at his chest.

[Interceptors] Zombie Powder is a Helluva Drug [IC]
Heritage replied to Dr Archeville's topic in West End
Grim sighed as she sank even deeper into her seat; she really wanted this case to be over now, both for the kids' sake and on a more selfish level to put all this behind the three of them. But sadly, the only way to achieve both forms of closure was to work as a team and just get the job done. "So how do we want to work this? Do we want to approach the kids directly as the Interceptors, or do we want to go all low-key and undercover? I see good and bad either way, to be honest; as the Interceptors, we might spook 'em, but undercover with teens is hard. They can smell a fake a mile away." -
Grim smiled broadly at this statement. "No, he his not." She folded her arms and chewed her lower lip. "Well, we've got a giant plasma screen with like a billion cable channels in the den, plus Blu-Ray. In the game room downstairs, we've got pinball, air hockey, pool and ping-pong, but those might not be fair since I'm a pixie freak of nature with the reflexes of a chimp on speed. Or..." She looks over her shoulder, towards the stairs leading upstairs, and an evil grin spreads across her face. "I could show you our top secret training room..."

The mere mention of the Nazi killing machine made the color drain from Grim's face; she'd had nightmares for a full week when she first learned about him back in grade school. Pushing aside her fears, she returned to the discussion. "Uh, Doc, could that strobe-y thing be used to actually hurt or stun an incorporeal ghostie? Or is there some way we could, I dunno, do some kind of 'psychic energy blast' that would give them blinding headaches even if they don't have a body? I really don't like the idea of folks walking through the walls and ripping us apart in our sleep." The changeling sighed as she climbed back up on a stool. "Yeah, I'll take a cup, Mona; lotsa cream and sugar, please." Grim vigorously rubbed her face before continuing. "Look, the fact of the matter is no matter how paranoid we try and be, if someone really wants to get us, they probably can; even if we try to consider every possible solution, a really determined psycho-genius, like for instance if Doc had an evil twin from a parallel universe-" The thought caused her to stop, look over at their patron and visibly shiver at the very concept. "Uh, the point is, complete and total security is an ideal which we can probably never achieve, so...well, I had a point, or at least I thought I did..." She waved her hands in exasperation. "That's alls I gots; I'm done, guys."

Can Grim actually get an attack in here, or does a big guy or gal have to clear some debris? I can edit my post accordingly.
-
The rush of wind slapped Grim in the face and nearly sent her sprawling, but instead she used the momentum to power a rather impressive back flip. The tiny shapeshifter shook a fist at the flying juggernaut as she cried out in an exaggerated 'Joisey' accent. "Do youse mind? We was fightin' ovah heeya!" Seeing her current foe lying flat on its back, she sighed and then quickly scampered over to the repulsive bug creature. "Eww...uh, can someone clear off a bit of this rubble so we can...y'know, spray this guy with a giant can of Raid or something?" Then Grim stopped and looked down at her razor-sharp claws. "Although I guess I could..." In a flash, the tiny shapeshifter melted down to a black-and-blue puddle, which arched through the air and wriggled its way under the rubble; from under the debris, there came a sickening squelchy kind of sound. A few seconds later, the somewhat unnerving liquid oozed back out into the light and reformed into the familiar shape of Grim, propped up by her arms and looking seriously grossed out. "Uh guys, don't ever let me do that again, okay?" :(

Just for flavor, does Estelle know what he's talking about here? This might be pointless, but she is a chemist by trade, after all ;)

How do we know if it's a sneak attack, and what's the difference if it is? RQ's Fort save: 1d20+8=16

[Interceptors] Zombie Powder is a Helluva Drug [OOC]
Heritage replied to Dr Archeville's topic in Archives
Giz said in chat that Jack will pretty much climb into the MAVERIC in silence, so he can probably add that detail to the beginning of his next post. I'd say go for it, Doc. -
Despite herself, Grim couldn't help but sadly chuckle at Herr Doktor's outrage. "Dude, I have never been able to detect that man when he wants to stay hid; I can't see him, hear him or even smell him when he pulls the dissappearing act, which I'm not gonna lie, drives me nuts as a sneaky person. I hate to be out-snuck." She frowned as she thought that one through. "Okay, so not a real word, but you get my point; we're talking about Avenger here. Plus the man is a vampire, so as long as his lil' tummy is fulla blood, I'm pretty sure he doesn't need to eat, breathe or go pee-pee, or maybe even sleep. And if he doesn't have an circulation, which I dunno, maybe, he's not gonna cramp up, so the dude can probably pick a corner and just stand there existing as long as he wants. Unless one of us happens to walk into him, but even then, he'd see us comin' and move out of our way as quiet as the grave." Lynn headed over to the fridge, fished out an apple and tossed it lightly from hand to hand. "Also I'm pretty sure he can fly and turn into either mist or dust or something; I think he blew in through the HVAC, turned solid but utterly invisible in a corner, and just hung out and watched us all smug and s***, like the undead jerkmo he is." She took a huge bite out of the apple, using a wicked pair of fangs she grew just for the occasion. :Drac:

Mr Colt, I believe your up, good buddy. ;)

Grim also decided to give the kid a little help, to let him know he wasn't entirely alone; she step towards him and laid a hand on his arm. "Hey, before I turned to the heroing thing, I was a straight-up bad girl; I was a con artist and a thief, and I thought I was pretty darn cool. Y'know, 'steal from the rich, give to myself' kinda deal?" She grimaces at the thought of her earlier lawless days. "But then I saw people were hurtin', the people no one cared about, and I decided to use my gifts to actually try and make the world a better place. And maybe I'm stupid, but I think I actually have." The shapeshifter grinned and shrugged. "So, if a no-good punk like me can turn over a new leaf, why can't you, right?"
