  1. Estelle de Havilland delicatly picked her way through the rubble as she entered the decrepit arena, and she really couldn't look more out of place; between her cloud of shimmering golden hair, shiny blue and silver bodysuit and upper class mannerisms, she looked like a socialite who'd wandered into the bad part of Tijuana. If her mother could see her now, she'd most likely collapse in shock. "Ah, hello? Is this where the sparring is supposed to take place?" :?
  2. Grim nodded and happily complied; cheese omelets were one of her specialties. She waved off the offer of help from Colt with smile, but tensed up a bit when Kris mentioned gun-running; obviously he regreted his actions, but she still couldn't help casting a glance Jack's way to see his reaction to this particular revelation as she whipped four eggs (she made her omelets big) in a metal bowl with a whisk.
  3. Grim's smug little smile completely vanished; even if she didn't have the ability to understand any spoken language, Doc's horror at this news would have been abundantly clear. She thought back on every time travel movie she'd ever seen, even that Treehouse of Horror episode when Homer killed all the dinosaurs, and a sick feeling sunk into her stomach. "You want me to go back, right? You need me to go back." The shapeshifter buried her face in her hands for a few moments. "Okay, 'Lenya' told one of the students that she had to go home due to troubles with her family; we might need to do a little work to sell that, and her coming back so soon afterwards." She sighed and rubbed her face. "I have all Eddie's social networking stuff, so I can use him to plant disinformation, if we have to go down that road..." Oh Eddie, I'm so sorry. :(
  4. Lemme know if any of this seems out of character for Jack; of course, this is just Grim's perception of what going on, and she could be way off base.
  5. Grim's eyes went wide and her jaw went slack (eww, donut grossness!) when she realized what Jack's sister was suggesting, which made perfect sense; why wouldn't she think that's why she was called over to the team HQ? She made a move to give her another hug, but caught herself before she went right back into smother mode. Setting her Boston creme down on a napkin, the wee brunette waved her hands in alarm. "No no no, Jack's fine! He's crashed up in his room after a night of patroling! God, no!" She covered her eyes with her hand and sighed deeply. "Look, I'm sorry, I didn't mean...I do want to talk to you about Jack, but nothing like that. Y'see..." She met Jill's gaze, and there was definitly concern in her eyes. "Things have been kinda rough lately, between me and Jack; we argue a lot, we seem to bring out the worst in each other all the frickin' time, and when it gets really bad, we just avoid each other for like three days." Grim hops up on a stool and rests her chin in her hands. "I think a lot of it might be, y'know, family stuff; a team like this, you start to develop a kinda family vibe, and sometimes I get the feeling that's what's goin' on here. I was the baby in my family, which means I can be a total brat from time to time, and Jack is an older brother, so..." She shrugs and leans back on her stool. "I dunno, I thought maybe you could help me understand your brother better, gimme a little insight; I'm not expecting miracles or anything, I just want our team to be, y'know, an actual team."
  6. With a roll like that, I'd hide, too :P
  7. All her reservations went out the window when Lynn saw Jill smiling at the front door. "Omigod, look at you, you're so cute!" The shapeshifter gave her a warm sisterly hug, and then motioned for her to enter. "Come in, come in, get in off the street! You want some coffee, I just made a pot. I also got donuts this morning, they should still be fresh, or I could make you something. You wanna sandwich?" Having people over always brought out the Jewish mother in Grim, for better or for worse. The tiny shapeshifter headed for the smaller kitchen, the true heart of the Brownstone which almost always smelled of gourmet coffee. Grim pulled out the aforementioned box of donuts and grabbed a gooey Boston creme. "So, you're still in school, right? You keeping your grades up and all that good stuff?" She took a big bite and chewed it with great relish.
  8. Grim could not help smiling at the thunderstruck expression on Herr Professor's face; she imagined he didn't wear it often, so she took a few seconds to lean back in her chair and bask in it before replying. "Yep; kids these days, huh?" She opened her report and idly flipped through the pages. "Her name is Zoe, she appears to be the child of Mike and Alex and is possibly even attending Claremont; I don't know how she arrvied in our time, but it looks like she's dating young Eddie Ozan, aka Breakdown, who I'm sure doesn't know about her parentage, because eww." She found the appropriate page and set the report down in front on Doc, tapping the section in question. "There ya go, captivatin' readin', that is."
  9. Would it make more sense to set this earlier in the day, assuming Jack is sleeping after patroling Friday night?
  10. The shapeshifter's dark brown eyes snapped up to the scientist's blue ones, and they sparked with anger. "Hey, I never said their lives were bad or they were being mistreated; that school is the best place for the them, hands down." She set down the bottle and sighs. "And it wasn't them I felt bad about lying to, anyway." Grim vigorously rubbed her face, then half-raised the bottle to her lips. "Look, I'm madder at myself than anybody else; this was not my best work and I shoulda stayed in longer. I didn't get nearly enough intel on Mike, though to be honest I think Alex is the one we should all be worried about; her and their kid from the future." She took a deep swig, then wiped her mouth with the back of a gloved hand. "Did you know that girl is the world's youngest CEO, and pulls in $250K a year?"
  11. Grim turns to Jack's sister 'Jill' (aka Ellie) for advice about her swordwielding brother.
  12. The Brownstone. Saturday, April 10th 1:15pm Lynn paced back in forth in the living room, gnawing on a thumbnail. She really hoped her teammate wouldn't think ill of her for doing this, but you never knew with Jack's sometimes; the man was driven and extremely protective of his family, but she sincerely felt his sister 'Jill' might help her in dealing with her brother's many moods. Vince, bless his electronic heart, agreed to contact Jill through whatever mysterious channels he had to arrange for this meeting, and now that is was actually going to happen, the tiny shapeshifter was starting to regret it. "It'll be fine; if he asks, just tell him the truth, and he'll totally get it...right?" The faeling was barefoot in pair of navy blue sweats and a Fraggle Rock t-shirt, and had put on a fresh pot of coffee on in anticipation of the teenager's arrival.
  13. Grim said nothing, merely nodding as she followed the others to the MAVERIC; at this point, she was too angry to add anything useful, and would more than likely just further sour Jack's already toxic mood. This is so not cool; how did our team get to this point? Maybe I should talk to Doc about this...unless he already knows somehow... :? Warily eyeing the walls of the Underground, she kept her troubled thoughts to herself.
  14. Seeing the aquatic blast coming her way, Grim leaped high in the air, performing a graceful backflip that took her clear over the rushing water. She landed before the slimy menace and smiled. "Boy howdy, I'd hate to see you in the dentist's office! I think we need to knock you out before he start to drill." And with that, she took a vicious swipe at the creature's face.
  15. To hit Ugly Fishman: 1d20+12=29 DC 23/ Toughness
  16. Estelle took a deep breath and scanned the room; luckily the heroes' actions seemed to have prevented any serious injuries. "We've been robbed by someone who calls himself 'Havok', a violent cowardly thug with access to advanced technology, either his own or someone else's. He prefered weapons are robots and lasers." She waved in the direction of Mike and the dark and mysterious figure. "These gentlemen were invaluable in saving innocent lives." The blonde heroine gingerly moved towards the two young men. "Do we know what they took?"
  17. At this point Grim's anger at Jack finally managed to overcome her growing discomfort with his single-mindedness, and she leaped in front of him. "Jack, can you at least give Vince a minute to cross-reference the tattoos with police reports linked to those high schools? The sooner we go in the right location, as opposed to just driving around and beating the crap out of random voodoo gangbangers in possibly the opposite end of town, the faster we can punish the right people." She took a deep breath, and then laid out her final point, face flushed and her whole body taut in anticipation of a possible verbal assault. "You're a fencer, Jack, not some guy flailing around with a machette."
  18. She's actually extremely tired and pissed off right now, so she's actually gonna try for damage this round (and quite possibly only this round), obviously nothing lethal or anything. Also just did an edit to show that she is in fact attempting to draw him back down to her level for a bit of conversation.
  19. Faye Spenser, aka the Red Queen, shook her head at what she was hearing over the coms as she went about the business of clearing out the Far Eastern Sculpture Garden; with a wave of her gloved hand, she slid a paper-thin black disk edged in crimson light under another golden Buddha, and watched it tumble helplessly down into her own private dimension. She leaned against one wall, looking rather dapper in a stylish wool riding jacket as she casually looted the place without breaking a sweat, though the antics of her two 'business partners' were starting to get on her nerves. With a sigh, she tapped her earpiece. "Feckin' hell, what are you two doin' out there? I'm tryin' to work in her, aren't I?" She sent the portal under a Ming vase which also dropped out of sight with a soft woosh. "I'm doin' all the heavy liftin', workin' me sweet arse off, while you wee mad things are out playing with the garda!"
  20. Grim spun from side to side on her stool, legs dangling listlessly. "He means we killed a lot of kids...well, rekilled them, technically." The she stopped herself, took a deep breath and let it out slowly. "No, that's not true; we laid them to rest." Her eyes flicker from Colt to Jack and then back again. "We did the right thing." Then her eyes filled wilth steely resolve as she traced a line on the cold Formica with a single claw. "And we need to find the sick sunsabitches who did this, so they can't do it again."
  21. Grim's big brown eyes went soft, and she laid a hand on Kris' arm. "Hey look, dude, all is forgiven; that was a horrible time, and you had to deal with it your own way. S'cool." She looks down at her feet and sighs. "I've taken off a few times myself, and coming back wasn't always easy. I did't mean to make it any harder for ya." The shapeshifter met his gaze and smiled sheepishly. "So no more crap from me, alright? And you don't have to get all 'encounter therapy' with us, either, if you need more time so sort it all out. We're all cool, as far as I'm concerned." Then she drummed her hands on the counter and pointed over at the fridge with both hands. "So, you hungry there, big guy? 'Cause Momma Grim can whip you up some grub to go with that coffee."
  22. I'm actually kind of pumped, and hoping for awesomeness! I also think Geez3r's wish list is spot-on.
  23. The young shapeshifter set aside the MP3 player and mutely accepted the bottle, sliding a thick talon out of her thumb to pop the top; she took a long, long swig, then placed the bottle on the table between them, rolling it back and forth between her palms. "Hmm? No, no problems to speak of; the infiltration actually went a lot more smoother than I expected. The 'Russian exchange student' schtick might've been overkill, though." She smiled wanly, then picked up the bottle and began gouging at the label with that thumb claw, eyebrows furrowed with concentration. "But then again, kids are trusting by nature." Her tone was off; the normally chatty Grimalkin was downright somber.
