  1. Colby tapped her forehead thoughtfully. "Yeah, you may be right; I better cuff you." Once again, she went behind the bar, were she rummaged aroud for a bit before coming back with two pairs of handcuffs, a first aid kit and a length of chain, which she dropped next to the recliner in a loose pile. She opened the kit and took out a roll of gauze and some surgical tape. "Okay, I'm going to wrap your wrists up pretty good; don't want to mess up your fencing skills, right?" Grim could only shake her head in disbelief at the detective's preparations. "Wow, this is the best exorcism ever."
  2. Grim was pretty stunned by the impressive body count her two teammates racked up. "Wow, you killed them all in like less than thirty seconds! Mad props to the manly killin' dudes!" Then she saw the man they'd hope to save crawling towards her, his eyes and jaw slack. "Ahh!" She pointed the shotgun right at his head and let 'er rip.
  3. "I swallow your soul, I swallow your soul!" "Swallow this!" 1d20+8=19
  4. Definitly interested in this; not sure which character, since both could be interesting, but leaning towards Grim.
  5. Ooh, me me me! Please add my two characters, Grimalkin and Gossamer, to your ever-expanding list!
  6. The petite brunete shook her head thoughfully. "No, no...my brother went to Columbia, and my sister got her nursing degree at Atlantic Cape." Finally she shrugged. "Oh well, maybe you hit on me at a club or something, or maybe you just have one of those faces, y'know? It's no big." She grinned warmly. Lynn again shook her head as she stuffed the brochures into her backpack. "Nope, this is my first time on campus; I visited FCU last week, which was nice and all, but it didn't feel right somehow. I mean, it's closer to my house, but it just felt a little, I dunno, dry and lifeless? Plus the cost..." She pointed her finger towards the sky as she whistled. "Uh, I'm still deciding on a major, but I'm thinking maybe criminology, y'know, more from the psych side than hard science? I don't think my tiny brain could handle all the math and labwork, so..." She pointed towards the door. "Should we hit the road and do the walk and talk?"
  7. True enough; I stared at the name for a few seconds, trying to figure out what seemed wrong Congrats! A buddy of mine (Tavis Allison) has recently been published by both WotC (in Martial Power 2) and Goodman Games; so cool to see a familiar name in print!
  8. Grim should be listed under 'Voluntary Shapeshifting'.
  9. Aw man! If Grim hadn't been so icked out by the thought of burying her claws in decomposing flesh, she could have cut a swath of terror like her teammates! Oh well, the next pack of zombies will not be spared her tiny wrath
  10. Gossamer sighed. "Well, until I can run a sample through my GC-MS back at the lab, there's not much more I can tell you." She looked to the other heroes present. "Do any of you know any criminals with access to teleportation technology, or who possess the power to teleport themselves? I guess that's where I'd start."
  11. Lynn nodded. "Yeah, I'd be cool with that; Atlas seems like a good guy, but isn't he already on a team? Either way, doesn't hurt to network, even if he's already spoken for." She steepled her fingers like Mr. Burns. "Finally everything is coming together...excellent!"
  12. Grim laughed mirthlessly as she worked the pump action; she really needed to talk to Colt about gun training in the future if he was going to keep throwing shotguns at her. "Yeah, and these guys are too rotting to be pretty!" The shapeshifter leveled her weapon at another shambling corpse and fired. She indicated the man on the floor with a jerk of her chin. "So do we think we can save this guy, or is he a lost cause?"
  13. Everything was happening so fast; less than an hour ago, Estelle de Havilland was working in her lab, and now she had just left the earth's atmosphere. Her hair had anchored onto several points in the cabin to brace her against the acceleration, which was clearly reduced through some sort of amazing technology. Once they were free, her golden tresses drifted loose like shimmering smoke. Gossamer smiled and spoke in Russian (with a slight English accent) as she sat beside the red-skinned hero. "
  14. Colby gave him a sharp look. "Hey, are you making fun of my schtick? Every spell caster needs a schtick; these objects are sacred to me, which gives them power." She indicated the recliner with a nod. "That was my dad's chair; every night he came come from working his beat, dropped his ass in that chair, had himself a beer and watched TV. It was the only time I ever saw him happy." Her pretty but tired face clouded over for a moment before she returned to her preparations. "Now we get down to business; you're gonna want to tip that back." She picked up the TV table and placed it over Jack's lap, then fetched the dreamcatcher from the bar, along with some sort of spidery framework made out of bent coat hangers. The witch suspended the catcher in the framework, and then placed it on the tray table, facing the swordsman, then finally she set up a musty director's chair at the foot of the recliner and took a seat. "Okay, you two are gonna want to stand on either side of him, because you might have to hold him down at some point; these things can get a little rowdy." Grim moved uncertainly to the left side of the chair, her eyes nervously flicking from face to face. "Seriously?" The detective nodded. "Seriously; I had a guy kick out my front teeth out in a similar situation." She reached into her mouth and pulled out a partial denture of four teeth, flashed a broken grin and replaced them. "I've got lousy dental. You guys just about ready? Last call for bathroom breaks."
  15. Grim adopted a look of mock-innocence. "Hey, is it my fault if they don't defend themselves? These hardy pines could fight back at anytime, but they choose not to." The diminutive heroine shook her head sadly. "Wow, you really missed out growing up. Fall is definitly my favorite; you've got the colors, the High Holidays with the family, plus my parents actually let us celebrate Halloween, so we got all the candy. Good times!" She got quiet after that, lost in a heady reverie of autumns past.
  16. A hand rose up. "Present!" The tiny girl stood up with a silly grin, shouldering her backpack as she ambled over to Kevin, holding out her hand with a surprisingly firm grip. "Hi, nice to meet ya!" Lynn's brow furrowed as she cocked her head to one side. "Uh, have me met before? I could swear I know you from somewhere..." Her South Jersey accent was just as distinctive when she spoke.
  17. "Shadowboxer was incommunicado" - I think you mean Nightrival; Shadowboxer was the player's name ;)
  18. As quietly as she could, Gossamer opened the door and tiptoed in, sending thin tendrils out to the walls to judge the size and shape of the room. She moved slowly, straining her ears to pick up any conversation as she slowly made her way towards the door into the rest of the house.
  19. Notice check: 1d20+2=6 Groan! Stealth check: 1d20+3=19 Not bad for an amatuer. I will post IC tomorrow...er, later today ;)
  20. Grim stood there, stunned, flabbergasted and gobsmacked, at the bizarre display of Jester's...um...whatever the hell he just did. It suddenly occured to her that this was no mere clown, but in fact something far more terrifying: a toon. When she was a kid, she got all kinds of horrible nightmares the first time she watched Who Framed Roger Rabbit?; the finale when Judge Doom revealed his true self still gave her the jibbilies. But then she realized something else: toons weren't that much different than faeries, since they both needed an audience and loved to tell stories. So really of all the folks here, I have a slight advantage in dealing with this freak. Taking a deep breath, the shapeshifter bowed deeply to the clown, producing a large musketeer's hat with gaudy plumage to enhance her flourish. "I thank you, my good man, as does my father and my father's father! Come along, Colt!" She grabbed the thunderstruck cowboy by the hand and dragged him through the sheer impossibility to the relative sanity of the temple on the other side.
  21. Do I need to roll another Stealth and Notice check for entering the house and snooping?
  22. The shapeshifter wrinkled her nose. "Ah, it's protected forest, we should probably stick to the path, even if that's a little wimpy; if we ever go off into the gen-u-ine wilderness, I'm all for the blazing of trails." Tromping along through the snow, Grim smiled. "We need to come back in the spring, or better yet the fall; I'm a sucker for the colors!" She made herself a little bamboo cane for randomly swishing through the air, knocking snow off the low-hanging branches.
  23. Grim's big brown eyes went wide during the eerie encounter; the fact that she was never really cold any more made the chill down her back all the more unnerving. She downed the offered shot and then moved to Colt, taking his hand in her own. The shapeshifter nodded. "Yeah, I just want to get this over with, so I can go home and hide under the covers for like three days." Taking a shot herself, Det. Colby shuddered as she stepped out from behind the bar. "Fair enough; no more interuptions or BS." She took out her cellphone and switched it off, then disappered into the murk by the furnace for a few seconds; there was a dreadful dragging sound, like a water-logged corpse being hauled onto shore, but it was just the urban witch pulling an old leather recliner out of the shadows. There was also an cheap folding TV tray table under her arm, which she set up next to the musty chair. "Alright Jack, if you can set yourself down in the La-Z-Boy, we can get started."
