Plodding along down the muddy street, Grim nodded sadly at Doc's assessment. "Yeah honey, you might have to make friends with Mister Crossbow, at least while you're here." She then turned to their guide. "Rufus, is there anywhere we could buy weapons near here, or do you have any that we can use? I don't know what we could use as currency, though..."

For several minutes, 'Lenya' just leaned up against the wall, taking deep breaths of cold air; this was by far the most unpleasant mission she'd ever been on. I have to get outta here- wait, I can't! I still need to do at least a little digging on Mike. Crap! Making her way back into the dorms, she quickly found Phalanx's room; according to Doc's notes, his roommate was Mark 'Edge' Lucas, who she herself had met briefly last year when she was with the Knights. As she recalled, he was an utter geek whe it came to Ace, he used a grapple gun with confidence and somehow made a lot of neo-Nazi guns blow up, but she was taken out of the fight before she got a good handle on how his powers worked. Doc's file only cryptically stated "Avoid if possible; do not confront.", so it was obviously best to err on the side of caution. Once again the fake Russian girl slid under the door and found in a sense a gender-flipped version of Alex and Erin's room, although it was not quite as an extreme dichotomy of style. Opposite the bunk beds were two study areas, and it was no mystery as to which side belonged to the hero-worshiping Mark, encrusted as it was with super memorobilia in form of posters, photos and other items; Grimcognito also spotted the signed business card Ace gave to the enthusiastic young man the night they met, stuck to a corkboard by the lower bunk. Mike's side was a bit neater and more subdued, with a few posters and photos, mostly of him with Alex or one of his other classmates doing happy teenage stuff; with a sigh, the interloper began to look through his things.

How very odd! This was not where Gossamer expected to find herself; she hoped it wasn't another wild goose chase in the making. As quietly as she could, she used her hair to scale the side of the house and started checking for open doors and windows, as well as pressing her ear to the glass in the hopes of hearing nefarious plans being discussed.
-
As sad as the alien visitor's loss made her, Gossamer was extremely intrigued by the thought of pursing the perpetrators into space, and the many wonders she would no doubt see there. "I will join you as well; though I'm not the vengeful sort, justice has not been served this day, and I will help in anyway I can. Let me make a phone call to square things away with my employers, and I'll be ready to depart." She pulled her cellphone out of its docking station on her data bracer and placed a call to ASTRO to quickly put her affairs in order.

I saw Alice, too, and to be honest was kind of bored watching it; lots of Tim Burton films look great but don't grab me or pluck my heartstrings, and this was one of them. And you're right, other than the caterpiller's smoke and the Cheshire Cat, 3D was kind of wasted on this one.

[Interceptors] Zombie Powder is a Helluva Drug [IC]
Heritage replied to Dr Archeville's topic in West End
Grim's eyes popped out of her head when she realized what she'd just caught. "You threw me a shotgun?! I've never fired a gun in my life, you crazy redneck!" However, the fact that they were in fact fighting zombies did make the gun a good idea, at least as long as they were still outside the building. "Fine, but if I hit one of you two, you'll be sorry!" It took her a few seconds to figure the simple mechanism out, but as soon as she did she jammed the barrel through one of the new zombie-created holes. "Here, chew on this, you disgusting meatsack!" BOOM! -

"This is my BOOMSTICK!" To hit with shotgun: 1d20+8=21 Toughness DC is 20, or so I'm told. -
Grim frowns at the clown's implications and wags an angry finger under his pale white nose. "Hey, that's...largely true, but still!" It occured to her that having herself, Jester and Jack on the same 'field trip' would probably lead to a lot of frayed nerves. How many wiseacres can people stand before they go ballistic? The shapeshifter held up her hand like a kid at school. "Ooh, I can do intel! Infiltrate, spy, snoop, undermine, you name it!"

In case we need it for flavor, he's the thread I ran (badly) the last time Kevin took someone around ol' FC.

Lynn/Grim tours the Freedom College campus with Kevin/Hub.
-
March 15th, 2010 10:33 am, Freedom College Admissions Office It was very weird to have someone call her 'Miss Epstein'; Lynn didn't hear her last name very often, and to be honest it made her a little uncomfortable. But if she went through with this whole crazy plan, she'd have to get used to it, along with a lot of other odd things, like getting up early and doing homework. She'd made a New Year's resolution to consider college, and that meant a lot of things; for one, she'd been practicing for her GED with VINCE, who had proven to be a very patient yet hilarious tutor, always coming up with some crazy get-up based on whatever subject they were covering that day (Shakespearean VINCE was her favorite so far). The next step was actually visting schools and figuring out her possible major; at this point, she was leaning towards criminology, but wasn't going to rule out anything just yet. The young shapeshifter talked to a guidance counselor, got on an email list and picked up a lot of brochures on the various academic departments and payment options; a big part of her hoped that Doc Archeville would help her out, but she didn't want to assume anything. Who knows, maybe he'd be more impressed if she managed to do it on her own? The next step was to take a tour of the campus with a student; she hoped she got someone nice who could appreciate her sense of humor, and not some uptight stick-in-the-mud or something. As always, she'd chosen her clothing carefully, trying to find a nice balance between 'serious student' and 'fun girl'; in the end, she'd gone for black Adidas, a nice pair of Levis and a No Doubt hoodie and of course a backpack. She sat on a bench, idly flipping through a brochure as she waited for her tour guide.

So how does Grim roll to hit with the shotgun and such? -

Once the campsite was all squared away, Grim slipped into her hiking gear and shrugged a light daypack filled with water bottles and tasty lunch goodies onto her small shoulders. The sun was out, providing some feeble warmth, and the snow was crunchy underfoot. "You just about ready to hit the trail, hon?" -

Grim poked her head up to take a look out a window, then turned back to yell at Colt, her breath clouding before her face. "Hey, I don't see why you're complaining, you've got guns!" She flicked out her wicked claws and flexed her fingers. "I actually have to touch the ugly bastards!" She made a nauseated face. -

Initiative: 1d20+12=30 Wow, that's got to be the highest init I've ever rolled  -
It looked like the old man was going to be alright, but Grim steadied him anyway; at least it was something concrete she could do to help. The whole situation was pretty unnerving, including the creepy clown that had shown up with them; the young shapeshifter didn't have a full-on clown phobia or anything, but his whole look and attitude still freaked her out. "Honey, I could make you shoes, but then we'd have to go with a just a robe or something to cover the rest of ya." She looked around uncertainly at the crude structures that surrounded them. "Which actually might not be a problem around here..." :?

It was now readily apparent who the offending party was in this encounter, and the white-haired woman looked liked she could use a little help; swinging into the fray, Gossamer landed near the strange visitor. "I don't know if you can understand me, but welcome to Earth, where we hit violent pigmen in the face!" And so saying, she shot a thick golden tentacle at one of the Broan threatening the woman.

Grim frowned and stood by her boyfriend's side, rubbing his arm sympathetically. Colby nodded somberly as she took a few steps towards Colt. "Your right, cowboy; demonic contamination is creepy stuff, but that doesn't change a damn thing; we still need to get that s*** out of your friend, and fast, before it has a chance to do any more damage, to him or anyone else." The mystical detective shook her head. "Actually, no; I mean, you're right, this is your fight and it's going to take place beyond this plane of existance, but you're not gonna be alone. No one should have to fight alone. I'm going to be your guide- " And then she pointed to Colt and Grim. "And your teammates are gonna be right by your side. What I'm gonna do is- " Suddenly the TV upstairs turned off, and Colby rolled her eyes. "Oh Jesus, she wants to come down and visit. Ma, I'm working down here, don't come down!" The lights started to flicker and dim, and then it felt like all the heat was sucked out of the room as an overwhelming scent of rosewater filled the basement. Colby covered her face with her hand. "Ma, please, this is not the time..." Jack alone saw a vague shape descending the stairs, like a greasy smudge in the air; the energy was feeble, like a battery that was almost completely drained. One by one it approached the heroes, and each in turn felt an icy chill run down their spine. The detective seemed mostly embarrassed as she addressed the air. "Mom, these are...friends. I'm working on something. Now can you please go back upstairs?" Just as quickly as it came, the presence was gone; the warmth returned to the room, the lights returned to full brightness and the stereo resumed playing, but when had it stopped? Colby sighed, went behind the bar, and lined up a row of shot glasses. "Sorry about that; you guys need a little something to take the edge off?"

Lynn nodded enthusiastically. "I would have no problem with either one of them; well, at least once Fulcrum gets her whole leaky energy problem taken care of, since that's obviously a concern." The shapeshifter contemplated Erik's suggestion. "That's actually a really good point; I guess there's no reason we can't pursue both, or like start with the network and if someone, y'know, works out well, invite them to the team proper. Yeah, that could definitely work out." Lynn looked at the fencer with newfound admiration. "Y'know it's awful to say this, Erik, but when Doc first brought us all together, I just saw you as a cute butt and a smart mouth; I've never been so glad to be so wrong." She raised her glass in proud salute.

Okay, cool; I just figured since it's detection and I wanted Jack to feel uncomfortable that it made sense.
