  1. Sitting on couch next to Colt, Grim was happy to ignore the whole pregnancy issue for now, though Tayor's question did leave her mildly puzzled. "Uh, I think so, but Colt's really the go-to guy on this issue; I'm just the girl with the cellphone and lots of interesting friends." She took Colt's hand and began to gently knead it between her fingers.
  2. Depending on how this thread turns out (even though it was started last year), Goss might have made her first real steps towards heroism.
  3. Morley's Pub The flight over to the pub had been largely uneventful; Grim doubted the pidgeons of Freedom would ever get used to her, not that she helped by gleefully chasing them on wing from time to time. She'd found a nice table, strategically located near the 'golden triangle' formed by the jukebox, bowling arcade game and one of the pool tables. It was still fairly early, but she'd already started a tab with Summer, their waitress, and let her know two cute guys were on the way over, even though one was sadly already taken. "Just keep your hands off the cowboy, and we'll be fine." Looking to match the tone of the evening, she was keeping it casual, nothing too fancy. The petite brunette ordered a rum and Coke and fed a few bills in the jukebox, carefully mulling over her options before punching in the next ten songs.
  4. Would it be okay to jump forward to the following morning? I don't know how much longer we can keep it PG-13 at night :P
  5. "Whoa!" It was one of the creepiest things she'd ever seen, even though she realized as a shapeshifter herself, it was kind of hypocritical to think so. But to see herself in this context, all red and gigantic, was disturbing as all get out. "Okay, let's see what we can do about this, both for my sanity's sake and as a kinda test." Her form was quickly wrapped in a swirl of gray mist, which left behind...a mini-Atlas! Her build was as close to the giant red man's as possible, only much smaller. She kept her voice kind of her own, to avoid freaking out the big Russian anymore than necessary. "Let's see what happens now!"
  6. Here's a link to the post; the only one named was Barry Irving, who sounds like the Warren of the trio.
  7. Ooh. me me me! That way Grim won't be mad at Colt for blowing her off on V-Day. Plus, magic! :D
  8. Diplo check of 19 for Connected, if needed.
  9. "Damn it! Damn it!" Rising unsteadily to her feet, Giselle cursed her own lack of preparedness; from now on, she would need to bring some form of protective device whenever she went out, be it a social call or a rescue mission, because the vents of this evening could not be repeated. She waved off the waiter, shaking her head. "No thank you, I'm fine; is everyone alright?" Locating her cellphone amidst the wreckage (while simultanouesly righting tables and helping patrons to their feet via hair tentacles), she hits ASTRO Labs on speed-dial. "Hello, this is Dr. de Havilland calling; Dr. Archeville has been kidnapped and I need to know if we have a way to track him." As she speaks, Gossamer tears off the bottom of her dress and kicks her five hundred dollar Bruno Maglis into a corner, preparing for the chase to come.
  10. The young shapeshifter was getting a seriously freaky vibe from the whole situation; the giant house wasn't helping, but what really worried her was the sound her poker buddy's voice on the phone. Following the sound of his voice, she finally made it to his bedroom. At that moment, Grim felt like she was in a cheap, straight-to-video horror film, the kind you saw at Blockbuster starring a blood-spattered Lou Diamond Phillips. What's he gonna look like under that blanket? "Hey, big guy...I'm right here..." She inched closer and closer to the huddled form.
  11. "Gotcha, I'm gone." Grim left a quick note for Colt, then took to the air, a tiny shimmering spark zooming just above the rooftops. Once she was over 13th Street, she was able to see what he'd meant. "Wow, it's the Jolly Red Giant's castle!" She darted out of the sky and returned to normal size on the porch, now in her working suit. There was, however, just one little problem; the knob for oversized door was almost a foot over her head! After a bit of thought, she went for the obvious approach; leaping up, she swung from side to side until the latch clicked. Once inside, she called out, "Atlas, I'm here! I got here as fast as my pretty little wings could carry me!"
  12. At first, she didn't believe him; lying on her bed playing on her DS, she rolled her eyes at the prank call. "No it's not! Who is this really, and how'd you get my number?" But soon it became obvious that it was Atlas, who apparently faked or exaggerated his accent (perhaps to be underestimated?) but was also legitimately freaked out. Grim powered down her game, tossed it on her nightstand, and leaped to her feet. "Okay, calm down, big guy, I'm on my way. Is this a medical thing, or do we need cops? Also, where the hell do you live, anyway?"
  13. Lynn sighed and shook her head. "No, it's not pants; it may be a little daring for you, but I really think you can pull it off." inside is a plum-colored sweater dress in wool. Grim leaned in to the birthday girl so she could whisper. "I know you can, because I spent the day shopping as you, and we look awesome in that dress. Also, if things don't work out between you and Jack, Terry at Macy's customer service desk totally has the hots for you." She gave them both a playful wink and leaned back to sip her drink.
  14. My understanding is that it's a neighborhood fixture which has been in her (human) family for years, an Irish pub-style place with live music and pool. Here's a link that might give you the right feel. Edit: Another Morley's thread.
  15. Many, many good points brought up here! The way I see it, Gossamer needs to accept that her life has changed, like really changed; she needs to realize that she has so much more to offer than just working at ASTRO Labs, and that while she might not have asked for her powers, they do call out to be used. So yes, with great hair comes great responsibility. Another good point, and strong motivation for me to do the questionaire for her (and finish up Grim's one of these days, too). I think people who use science selfishly and maliciously would be high on her list. I see Gossamer as being a modern version of a Silver Age heroine, if that makes any sense; not naive, but hopeful, and determined to actually make a differnence simply because she can. This more or less rules out her family being gunned down in an alley, or anything else that gritty; maybe something more dramatic and public, like a tour bus jumping the guard rail on a bridge or something of that ilk. In other words her motivation would be more altruistic rather than vengeful. This is very well said, Shaen. For Grim, it's about the injustice of the world; she sees criminals as bullies preying on those who can't defend themselves, and a system run by the rich that keeps everyone else down. For Gossamer, it's almost diametrically opposite, more like noblesse oblige, the feeling that she has benefited so much from her upbringing that she has a duty to help the less fortunate. Heroism would be like a more active extension of the sort of charity work she's done her whole life, I suppose.
  16. I think I'm waiting on you in this one; are you waiting on me? :D
  17. Part of me thinks this might be a good place to stop, and part of me thinks we could keep this PP-generating machine going forever - yeeha!
  18. Tipping his hat back on her head, Grim smiled as she was carried back to the fire, singing the old Roy Rogers theme song. "Happy trails to you, until we meet again. Happy trails to you, keep smilin' until then. Who cares about the clouds when we're together? Just sing a song and bring the sunny weather. Happy trails to you, 'till we meet again..."
  19. The tiny vigilante shrugged high up on her perch. "I dunno, maybe we could do a West End pub crawl, get to know the neighborhood a bit more. We could start at Morley's, that place Moira owns." She rose to her feet, dusting off her butt. "But maybe we should set a curfew or a spending limit, so Jack doesn't get end up with a hangover that reads as demonic possession tomorrow."
  20. When things had gone completely crazy for a few moments there, Grim had opted for the better part of valor and faded from view. But once Taylor had made with the whammy and atomized every piece of glass in the joint, she tentatively reappeared. "Uh, Ace, do you have your checkbook handy? Because I think that's the superpower we really need right now." Moving lightly across the broken glass and refuse, she joined Colt. "How you doin' there, big guy?" Barely waiting to hear his response, she turned and called out. "Any non-super people left in the place? Anyone need medical attention?"
  21. At first, Grim squealed with shock when Colt flexed his manly cowpoke muscles, but then when she saw where was going with this, she smiled, rolled her eyes and regally draped herself over the chest like a tiny Cleopatra. She stuck out her tongue and did a reverse somersault off the chest, landing softly on the floor of the tent. "Okay, packing's done, our obligations for the evening have been met, and we are free to do as we please." Jerking an elbow back outside, she inquired, "So, in here or fireside? I am, by my very nature, pretty darn flexible." She wiggled her eyebrows coquettishly.
  22. Cedar chests! Sorry, just wanted to save the link :P
