Lynn tucks the phone into the crook of her shoulder, then summons forth three tennis balls, whcih she procedes to juggle. "I say that sounds awesome, M! Hi Taylor, cómo estás? How's married life treating you?"

After a few hours, the game had thinned out considerably, leaving just Colt, Atlas and Grim at the table; for her part, Grim was happy to have just won a few hands and still have some chips at this point in the game. Her mask had disappered about an hour ago, when she just felt silly for still wearing it. The alcohol felt good in her tummy, and Colt just kept looking cuter and cuter the more she looked at him; he also smelled delicious, in a musky and strictly non-canibalistic sort of way... The shapshifter rubs her eyes and drains the last of her glass. "Okay, I'm due for a refill." Grasping the back of her chair, she carefully lifts her body up until her legs and torso are pointed up at the ceiling, then arches her back and lands directly behind her chair without a sound. "Whoo! Anyone else while I'm up?"
-
Grim nods from her position perched on Colt's shoulders. "Pretty much, yeah, unless I cheat and make myself taller. 'A princess of Faerieland, surrounded by giants.'" She winks and wiggles her pointy ears. The shapeshifter offers a firm handshake. "Yeah, hi! I think I saw you in action at danger Mansion, but there really wasn't time to chat or anything. Nice to meet you, and, um, I like your cape; it's very....well, y'know..." The tips of her ears go a bit pink, and she turns her attention to the discussion of bouts to come. "Yeah, actually that's a good question. Also do we just pick who we want to take on, because I would love a chance to drop Jack in his tracks."

Lynn sighed as she spawled on her bed in the Brownstone, iddly flipping through the December issue of Marie Claire. Once again, the blondes ruled the world as she stared into the dull eyes of Blake Lively; she'd tried to get into Gossip Girl, but it just wasn't working for her, since really she just wanted all the rich girls to fall off a cliff and die. "I miss Veroncia Mars." But then her phone started to play the Chili Peppers cover of 'Rollercoaster of Love', and she frowned as she dropped the magazine on floor; who had she assigned that ringtone to again? "Whataminiute..." The nimble shapeshifter did a somersault off her bed, sprang to her feet and yanked her phone off the charger cord. "Hi, is this Moira? I didn't think you still had my number, O goddess of many curves."
-
Lynn had been happy to let Colt and Atlas go for a drink; since they were dating and part of the same team, she and Colt did tend to spend a lot of time together, but she knew even the most devoted man needs some 'guy time' now and again for sanity's sake. She watched Jack and Taylor with a blissful smile on her face, gently swaying in time to the music The sharp-looking guy was easy on the eyes, and she'd always been a sucker for a rakish grin; her gaze flicks from his face to the bar and back, and she grins mischivieously and gives him a little nod. "Sure, okay." While not a trained dancer, by nature Lynn is exceptionally graceful, and she floats across the dance floor like a flower petal on a pond, seemingly lighter than air though her grip is firm. "So, Mysterious Young Man Helping To Make My Boyfriend Jealous, do you have a name, or at least an acronym? I'm Lynn, by the way." She inclines her head like a fairy tale princess.
-
Hmm, who would Grim be most easily matched with, maybe Jack? Or should the young lovers go toe-to-toe?

Just a reminder to folks, at the wedding Grim goes by 'Lynn Epstein' and is not in costume ;)

Eww, I'd forgotten! :D

Like a piece of himself? Truly a gift of the heart :D

Hip Hip Hooray!

Lynn warmly returned Colt's kiss, and his words warmed her heart; one of the reasons she found herself loving him was his stability, his sturdiness. Whenever she felt out of touch with the rest of the world (which happens from time to time when you're a crimefighting, shapeshifting pixie), or she was struck by nameless fears out of nowhere, Colt was her anchor. She squeezed his hand fiercely as she led him into the room. "Wow, quite a turnout! I'm glad her family's here, I'd like to meet 'em." She craned her neck, trying to take in everyone; there might be some odd introductions, since many of these same people had fought side by side during the Invasion, but she would let everyone else decide how much to reveal about themselves. "Well, there's Ace and Moira over there, looking pretty darn friendly; that should keep any papparazzi busy for the rest of the night. And I think I see...whoa, Taylor looks phenomenal! Check out that dress! She's pulling off the coveted 'hot as hell/cute as a button' combo like an Olympic champ! C'mon, let's go say hi!" Lynn practically drags Colt across the room in Jack and Taylor's direction, and the Scrappy Lil' Vamp Everybody Loves was, she had to admit, a vision of manliness. The hot ones are always gay or vampires...or cowboys. Once they reach the bridal party, the petitie brunette can't help but squeel in delight. "Omigod, Taylor, you look amazing! I'm so happy for you!" Ever the spirit of decorum, Lynn throws her arms around her former teammate, and gives her a hug that literally lifts her off her feet. 'This is just so cool! And Jack! Handsome Captain Jack!" Lost in the happiness of the moment, she gives him almost as firm a hug as Taylor's. Finally releasing him, she takes a step back to take it all in. "You guys...are superstars; I want pictures, if you can spare 'em. Oh, I'm sorry!" She turns to introduce Colt. "Taylor, Jack, this is my attractive cowboy friend, Colt. Colt, meet Mr. and Mrs. Faretti, newlyweds." She waves at everybody else, but does take a moment to give Ace a quick peck on the cheek.

At first Lynn just felt a little queasy, like when she rode the Wild Mouse after too many Italian ices when she was six (Oh what a mess that was!), but then the sensation spread outwards, down her legs and arms and up into her head. Her heart was pounding and her head felt light, which left her staggering. "Oh wow, I think you..." Her hands were glowing, a pearly white light that emerged from within. Lynn twisted her fingers through the air like birds, ghost images gracefully floating back and forth. "So pretty..." Then the light was gone, and the young woman fell insensible to the ground, her clothing dissolving into mist as she lay, breathing softly, on the cold ground. -
Lynn smiled at the complement, and got a little pink in the cheeks and ears, though she'd smoothed down their points for this very public gathering. She started to gnaw on her lower lip, then indicated the bike with a jerk of her head. "C'mon, let's get going; I'll tell you about it on the ride over." Lynn slid the helmet on, then hopped on the back of the motorcycle and put her arms around Colt's chest once he mounted up. She didn't say anything for several blocks, but finally she raised her voice over the engine. "Taylor's great; she's a good friend and I want her to be happy, but the fact is I'm not 100% sold on her fiance, well, husband by now." She rests her head against Colt's back and sighs deeply. "Jack's a bit of a reformed bad boy, but sometimes I wonder if it's gonna take, y'know? Is he gonna hurt her, even by mistake? He's a real charmer, but sometimes those guys are the scariest ones of all." She's quiet again for a bit, squeezing him tight as they zoom through the wintery streets; when at last she speaks, it's with a heavy heart. "I wanna be a good friend to Taylor, and respect her choice, but I think it's gonna be hard, y'know? Seeing them together, with her family and friends all around. That's all."
-
Waiting on you, my friend :)

Grim puts her hands on her hips and shakes her head sadly. "C'mon, it's just an affectionate nickname, Blink, like how I call you 'Blinky-Dink' behind your back." She winks and grins, but then frowns; the Russian ex-killing machine didn't always get her sense of humor. To clarify, she produces a Looney Tunes-style sign out of midair that reads simply 'Is Joke'. The tiny shapeshifter is happy to see Jack arrive, but has been troubled by his subtle change in demeanor since the forces of Hell tried to sweep away Freedom City; not that she blames him, but it concerned her that the lovable rogue might never fully recover from their shared ordeal. The sign disappears in a puff of mist, and she offers the swordsman a warm welcoming smile. "Hi Jack."

I'd love to post here, but aren't you guys in the middle of a phone call?

Not needing to use the ladies' room to change due to the nature of her powers, Grim instead chose to leap onto Colt's back, wrapping her legs around his chest and giving him a quick kiss on the cheek; whenever she pulled a stunt like this, she always made sure to make a little bit of noise, so he'd be able to brace himself for impact. "Howdy, cowboy!" Turning her attention to Atlas, she nodded vigourously to her boyfriend's comment. "Yeah, you totally kicked ass there, Atlas, though I guess we all did. Hi guys!" She waved at the others, noting that all present are veterans of that horrible day; despite her cheerful demeanor, she still woke up in a cold sweat from vivid nightmares several times a week.

For some reason, Lynn seemed very nervous about attending this particular wedding, even though she'd claimed Taylor was a good friend. She'd taken forever going through hair and dress selections, but finally skipped nimbly down the stairs, looking absolutely stunning in a deep red dress. A stylish black leather biker jacket was over her shoulder and a motorcycle helmet tucked under one arm, both glamoured up for the occasion. "I'm so sorry, honey; I haven't been to a reception this nice in, well, ever, and I hade a bit of a freakout. Sorry to keep you waiting." She stood on tip-toe to give him a kiss, then turned to let him put on her jacket as she rested the helmet on the seat of his bike; she never got cold (the jacket was to keep up appearances), but for some reason she was clearly shivering.

I don't know if I should make any sort of roll or something, I just had the idea for that little song hit me as I was working on the post; it's based on the faerie tale I never finsihed explaining Grim trip to Avalon. I guess i'm sort suggesting that her fae nature is coming to the fore for a minute or something.

Lynn's sensitive ears caught the strange man's muttering, and for a moment she was about to blurt out something witty yet thoughtless, but she caught herself; if there's onne thing you get from reading fairy tales, it's that magical type people tend to be proud, and don't usually appreciate a young whippersnapper's wisecrack. But was there anyway she could actually help? Didn't songs and poems and stuff usually figure into this sort of thing? Without really meaning to, Lynn found herself standing with eyes closed softly chanting, somewhere between a song and a story, about her trip into Avalon. "I met a maiden in the field, bound unto a mighty stone. Save me girl, or I shall die, she cried." "I met a mother in the wood, searching for her baby lost. Save my child, or she will die, she cried." "I met a crone upon the path, living in a house of bone. Save yourself, or you will die, she cried." "I met a queen upon the hill, sitting on a throne of gold. Change yourself, or you will die, she cried..." When the words stopped she felt a sudden chill, like an icy breeze across her heart, freezing her where she stood. What the hell was that...? -
Merry Christmas, everyone! Between the holiday and a lousy cold, I might not be posting for maybe another day or two (so sorry!), but I hope by Sunday at the latest to be feeling better and mre productive. Happy holidays, and to all a good night! :cthulhu:

Yet another limo pulls up, and a petite young woman in black and midnight blue leather steps out, waving like a gleeful idiot at the crowd; it's pretty obvious she's never been in a limo before She makes her way over to the red carpet, where Lisa at first looks confused until she places a hand up to her earpiece. "Ah yes, this would be Grimalkin, who's made a bit of a name for herself on the city's West Side, and also made quite a stir back in October with a charity event of her own." "That's right, Lisa! Hi everybody!" The crowd cheers, just happy that a pretty girl is waving at them, even if they're not quite sure who it is. The reporter nods her as she gets more details from the network. "I understand you actually ran a kissing booth at the carnival? How much did you make, and for what charity?" "Uh, for the Our Lady of Sorrows shelter, and we raised close to two grand in three hours." "Wow!" Lisa turned to the camera, looking genuinely impressed. "Not bad for a day's work!" "Yeah, I know, right? We're gonna raise a lot more than that today, though!" The crowd cheers again, glad that the city's heroes are eager to lend a hand. "Well knock 'em dead in there, Grimalkin!" "Thanks, I'll try!" She waves one last time, flashing a big smile at the camera, then backflips her way into the Dome. "What a remarkable young lady! It looks like we're in for a heck of show tonight, Bill!"

Grim's cheeks and the tips of her pointed ears go a bit pink, and she flashes Colt an amazing smile just before charging in the fray behind him; she leaps high in the air, claws out, and lands...on the lawn. Bewildered, she rises to one knee and sweeps her talons back and forth through the air. She looks around the battlefield, too stunned to speak, then looks back at Colt. "Is that...is it over? Did we win?" Then she sees Avenger kissing Phantom out of the corner of her eye, and the realization hits her like a bolt of lightening. "We won! WE WON! Ha-hah!" Leaping up to her feet, all her injuries for the moment forgetten, Grim starts running in circles with her arms stretched out, like a little kid playing out in the park, too deleriously happy to even realize quite what she's doing. "We won we won we won we won we WE WON!" The tiny shapeshifter does a pretty impressive set of gymnastic backflips, cartwheels and handspings before landing next to Colt at last, doing the splits. "Honey, we won! We did it, or at least someone did, someone who's getting free pizza everyday for the rest of their life, if I have anything to say about it!" Then her face shifts for but a moment from joy to anguish. "Ow! Oh my god, this hurts like hell! I should stop all this cavorting before I do something permanent!" She falls back on the grass, arms and legs splayed out to make lawn angels, and just continues giggling out of mind-numbing relief. "We're not dead..we made it..."
