Here are the plans I came up with, for the team to persuse. I used this picture as the basis. Here we have the basement level; the Underground HQ would be below this one; I included a butler's quarters, since I think we could really use a Jarvis of our own, if only to handle the vast amounts of laundry a team our size will generate. Those rooms can always be used for something else if we don't hire any help. This is the first floor; pretty standard other than the secret staircase to the Underground in the living room. This is the second floor, with the first set of bedrooms; I figured Blink wouldn't want a room that could be entered right of the stairs. The gear room is a large closet she can use for whatever. This is the third floor, with the second set of bedrooms. What do you guys think? Obviously room assignments can be changed, especially since we now have a robot on the team; Electra suggested Jack and Elektron should switch.

When Nadia did her shift, Grim bounced up and down on her seat and clapped her hands like a little girl. "Oh man, that is awesome! I mean, I know I can do it, too, but it's so much cooler when you see someone else do it, y'know? Oh, we are gonna kick this city's ass!" The thought that a beautiful smart girl like new teammate might have never had a guy...wow, that is rough. Grim hops up off her stool (which obligingly poofs out of existence) and steps over to Blink, arm outstretched to gently place a hand on her shoulder, if she'll let her. "It'll happen for you, I know it; I mean, you are way too hot and awesome not to! You know that, right?" She rubs her chin and cocks and eyebrow. "Like, maybe you and Jack could start patroling together or something; you could let him run ahead so you can check out that sweet ass of his..."

If there's one thing you learn in an American public school playground, it's that the best fighters fight dirty; leaping to Blink's side, she buries her claws deep into the guts of the demon in her teammate's clutches. "Die, you disgusting piece of crap!"

Ok, I didn't even realize that you can't do dice adds in the chat, so here's a new roll; as with Colt, I think the old post still works.

Rolled a 26 to hit, DC is 23/ Toughness

Grim shook her head to clear out the cotton balls, and then her eyes focused on the ruggedly handsome face of Colt. "Yeah, yeah, I'm okay; I mean, it's obviously the worst day of my life, but at least I'm not alone, right?" But then the smile left her eyes as she watched the barrier go down, and she felt a cold fist of fear wrap itself around her heart. The black cloud of demons began pouring through the trees, and she heard Ace's voice ringing over the field of battle. I don't want to die to today, not now; it's too soon. We just met, it's not fair... But her opinions didn't matter anymore, because the only thing that mattered now was survival. "Freedom cannot die." Did she just say something? Nevermind. No time, no time. As she rose to her feet, she gave Colt a quick peck on the cheek, an obscenely brief moment for the man she loved; if somehow they both lived to see tomorrow morning, there would be time for so much more. Without even realizing it, she found herself running, legs pumping furiously as she blurred her way towards the front line, her heart pounding impossibly fast as she leapt head first into the fray. Ever since the morning she'd woken up in a dark alley some three years ago, alone and afraid and confused, she'd doubted herself, doubted her abilities, her motives, sometimes even her sanity. But now for the first time since she'd be transformed, there was no doubt, because there was just no time for it. She leapt, she danced, she twisted, feet and claws and even teeth tearing into an endless stream of enemies, like a screaming wall of flesh. If it was soft, her talons found it and ripped it out, over and over again, until the steaming blood ran up her arms all the way to her shoulders. Yep, this is how we do it in Freedom.

I'm using my step-mom's computer and I don't want to sign up for D.I.C.E on her PC, so a crappy roll is what I get, with no rerolls, right?

I think Atlas might be on the MidKnighters; RR was one I was thinking of as a possible. Anyone else?
-
Sadly I think we need to look for another teammate; Velocity's speed powers and life off at college make her a good candidate for a reserve member, so Thev isn't completely hosed. What other available characters are in the right age group? I think most of the other PCs I know are at Claremont.

Just to clarify, most of the Knights recall seeing Grim's pixie form, but it would be news to her new teammates on the Interceptors, since she had trouble accessing it for a while.

A small flying creature, apparently some sort of frightened bird, was making a beeline for the barrier surrounding Danger Mansion; for some reason, it was being followed by a pack of demons, most of them bearing vicious bloody claw marks across their faces and chests. With a final burst of speed, the creature zipped through the golden wall, leaving the denizens of Hell howling on the outside. Once safely inside, the bird zoomed this way and that, apparently confused; suddenly it stopped in mid-air and then balloned into the form a battered and bruised long woman, wearing a black and midnight blue costume, who abruptly fell to the lawn with a resounding thud. "Ohhhhh God...this flying thing is a lot harder than I remembered." After lying on the cool grass for a few moments, Grimalkin staggered to her feet unsteadily; even though her costume seemed intact, her stiff movements suggested a lot of damage hidden beneath the surface. Dried blood was caked around one nostril, and there were burst capillaries in her eyes. Peering around, she saw a number of familiar faces, all of which showed signs of the ongoing struggle; she spotted Taylor and Jack, and wobbled over in their direction. "Hey guys. Sorry I'm so late for the party; I had lousy directions." About ten feet away for her former teamates, she stopped and sniffed the air. "I smell cowboy." Then Grim dropped to her knees, staring blankly into space as the shock of the day hit her all at once.

Holy crap, Doc! I've had pneumonia a few times, so I know it's no picnic. Take care of yourself, good sir! Also, belated condolences to you and your family, Q; so sorry to hear about you loss, especially so close to the holidays.
-
I'd been kind of avoiding this thread, to be honest, because I was unclear on how the whole time/continuity thing was working out, but if Colt's here his girl should maybe make an appearance :D
-
"Cool!" The phrase clearly has no negative connotations for Grim. At the mention of Nadia's other identities, Grim starts gnawing on her thumbnail. "Yeah, about that...can you, uh...lose the accent? I'm not trying to be critical or anything, it's just very strong and I wasn't sure how good your accent work is; I mean, it's not like I'm an expert or anything, but I've got a pretty good ear, so..." The young shifter snorts. "Oh yeah, he's a very good man!" Then her cheeks and the tips of her pointed ears go a little pink. "We, uh, yeah, we're a thing. I mean, so far we're a thing; obviously, it's new, it's exciting, but we don't know, y'know, where it's goin' just yet, but yeah, it's fun, it's cool..."
-
Grim chose to remain quiet at times like this, for a number of reasons, mostly because the last thing the situation needed was her big mouth. Also witnessing fights like this reminded her of the volitile shouting matches her parents used to get into, her dad loud and belowing, her mom cooly venomous unless she got really mad, and then it was like staring into the sun; little Lynn Epstein would lock up, mute and shaking, watching events unfold before her as an almost out-of-body experience. Luckily it seemed like it wouldn't get that far; she liked the way Colt was trying to handle it, but also wondered if Jack and All-Star should be teamed up on missions together in the future. She moved to Colt's side and laced her fingers into his, offering her non-verbal support.

After chatting with AA a few days ago, I've tied this one up. Judges, this thread can be locked.

Once the young lovers depart, Lynn just stands there for a while, staring out to sea. All this was a lot to take in, and she in't sure she'll ever get used to the idea of the undead roaming her city, evil or otherwise. She'll have to find out more, so she can make an educated decision about what to do next. "Time to hit the books, I guess." She takes one last deep breath of salty ocean air, and then turns to make her way to the Freedom College library, to start her quest for knowledge.

Hey there, Blink! Are you still interested in this thread?
-
Cy confirmed that the Invasion begins on 11/10, so any day between 11/03 and 11/09 works for me :D
-
Yeah, that sounds right to me as well.
-
Well Grim and Colt are dating as of 11/02, but I forget exactly when Invasion! begins.
-
Cy, what day is all this craziness taking place? I think you said it was the first week of November, but I can't recall.
-
Fair enough! :GreatJob:

Anyone working on character edits right now?
