The shapeshifter sits up in bed and idly scratches the side of her nose. “Uh, either one is fine, I guess; one of the reason’s I like using Grim is it kinda sounds like Lynn, so there’s less confusion and it’s easier to cover up a slip.†She lets out a long sigh, then nods. “Y’know what, go with Grim for now; it’s a name I chose for myself, and I like it.†Suddenly she stops herself, and cocks her head to one side as she peers at Colt; a sly grin slowly spreads across her face. “Wait, are you here about our now-legendary carnival kiss? I’m sensing a lot of startin’ and stoppin’ going on behind those eyes, like you just wandered into unfamiliar territory.†She climbs closer to the young cowboy, and sits with her legs dangling off the edge of the bed. “Do you…regret our actions of the other day?†
-
Grim grins, points first at the bottom of the door, then up to her sensitive nose, and shrugs. “I checked; no offense, but you smokers have no idea how much you reek; your hair, your clothes, even your boots.†She shrugs again. “I’m just sayin’.†The young heroine nods vigorously. “Tell me about it; it’s gonna smell so awesome wafting up here! But that’s only part of the reason I picked one ‘round the back; it’s also much easier to climb out a window that doesn’t face the street.†She laughs. “Yeah, well, unpacking’s always easier when you don’t actually own anything. Hey, you want a chair or something?†She climbs to the foot of the bed, holds out a hand, and an old-fashioned rocking chair appears out of thin air. Satisfied, she stretches back out on the bed, arms behind her head as her feet wiggle from side to side. “Enjoy it while you can; once I get my cats over here, there won’t be a lot of rocking chairs around, at least not if I have any say in it.â€Â

There is a pause, then from inside Lynn calls out. “Hi Colt, gimme a sec!†A few seconds later, the door opens, and the lithe young shapeshifter leans in the doorway with an impish grin. She’s wearing black tights, an oversized Pikachu sweatshirt, and is barefoot. “Howdy, stranger! C’mon in.†She allows the door to swing open and does a backflip onto the bed. Lynn chose one of the smaller rooms at the back of the third floor; what it lacks in size, it makes up in terms of the view, as the small backyard garden spreads out below. She has added little to the room’s basic furnishings; on the dresser are laid out her electronics, all of which seem to be small, easily portable and wrapped in a thick protective layer of duct tape. A deceptively weathered-looking mountain bike leans against the wall, a battered helmet dangling from its handlebars. A few stuffed animals dot the bed, all Disney characters but mostly from Aladdin, though there is also a small black cat with a witch’s hat. A handful of books, magazines and comic books are piled haphazardly on the nightstand, within arms reach for late night consumption. Finally a few paper-mâché DÃÂa de los Muertos skeletons hang in various parts of the room. Other than the bed, dresser and night stand, there is no other furniture in the room. Lynn gestures about the room with a dramatic flourish. “Make yourself at home.â€Â

I'm fine with RW having the last word, barring Doc A having a wrap-up post.

I'll be posting here tomorrow night.

This was starting to get fun; just seeing her teamates in different costumes was worth the price of admission alone, but just having an opportunity to tak, as group, was preiceless. Without much thought, she pointed at an open spot of the floor for poor Kris to place the huge fern, thus saving his spine from permanent injury. Colt's discussion of his homeworld was pretty cool (and very eye-opening - yikes!), but Jack's little sister was a far more intriguing subject. Grim frowns and crossed her arms. "Aw man, now she's just gonna thinking I'm copying off the Russian girl! Fine, whatever!" She winks, then does the same trick as Blink (well, not the teleporting part), but when she becomes 'Jill', she has the same costume, right down to the backpack! "I know, I said having two shapeshifters on the same team would be tacky, but I was shouted down, kicked down a flight of stairs and locked in a closet." 'Jill' shakes her head in mock-disgust. "These guys are all jerks." Grim's disguises melts away into mist, leaving her zombie catgirl form behind; preening her hair like a diva, she adopts an upper crust British accent. "But I shall endure, and make the best of a bad situation; after all, one does what one can." Finally being herself for a change, she leans over to Jack's little sis and stage whispers. "Seriously, two shifters in one house, with this many cute guys? it's gonna be insane, girl!"

Okay, post has been edited, sorry if you guys have to change a ton in your last posts :(

Screw it, here's my reroll, a 14. This means I actually got a 24 - zounds!

I think I'll do the later, so less editing will be needed.

Hey, look what I found! I did a search on 'charro', and came up with this awesome pic! It fits Jack's outfit to a T.

The guest list, as I see it, is obviously the Interceptors, as well as their new neighbors, who I guess would be NPCs. Grim also invited certain members of her old team, namely Phantom, Avenger, Dark Star, Scarab and Ace. Stesha, DS's girlfriend (I think) is also invited. Family of Interceptors (like JoaB's sister) are of course also welcome.

And I have! IC OOC

Halloween party at the Brownstone! :blackbat:
-
Date: October 31st, 2009 Lynn had put way too much thought into this party, but she loved Halloween, loved the brownstone, and she really wanted to introduce her new teammates to her old ones. Who knows, we might have to save the universe together someday. The interconnected rooms on the main floor of the brownstone were perfect for this kind of gathering; there was plenty of flow, lots of seats and counter space, and lots of shady corners if people wanted to have a little alone time with their SO's. She's spent most of the day putting up cobwebs and decorations, and running to the store for essentials. In the week before, she and a few fellow teamates had visited IKEA to furnish the place a little better, and it was really starting to feel like home. Lynn prowled the floor in her Goth zombie catgirl get-up, which was kinda gross and kinda sexy at the same time; she was especially proud of the whip-like skeletal tail she'd glamoured up. Mangy black ears perched on her head, her lips were purple and skin pale puke green, and she wore tattered black tights. Two large stainless steel bowls of treats were set up on the sideboard by the front door, one healthy and one sickly sweet, for any neighborhood kids who came by; there had already been a few, with parents in tow, of course. It was almost 7 pm; Lynn hopped up on a kitchen stool by the front door, idly gobbing SweetTarts as she waited for the doorbell to ring.

Grim stared stupidly at the monitors, thunderstruck by the extent of the devestation; she wondered what the rest of the Knights were doing to help out. You can't worry about them, kiddo; you're on a new team with new responsibilites, and what's important is getting your head in the game right now. "Uh, right! Yes!" She switched from her casual clothes into her leathers in a flash, tearing down the hallway after Colt, hoping he was good at pulling plans out of his ass. Grim could only nod and point forward. "Onward!" Yeah, that sounded good...

Add in her +12, and you get 13.
-
The first thing that hit her was the smell; Grim got a lungfull of damp grave rot that instantly made her want to hurl, and the more the creature revealed of itself, the stronger that urge became. Oh my god... She was frozen to the spot, legs locked, fingers trembling, but she was almost able to keep it together as the frickin' zombie approached them. But then her eye caught the tiniest flap of skin dangling from the thing's throat; it wiggled with every step like a happy little hand, but when the thing spoke, it wobbled and danced and writhed... And she pushed it all down, closed her eyes, then glared back at the hideous creature what came from the tomb, arms crossed tightly across her chest. "So! You lurk around this place all the time? You think it's cool to scare the piss out of guys like Breakdown here? I don't think so!" God, I can't believe I'm not puking right now...

Add in her +8, and you get a total of 11. Yep, she's pretty damn scared. (And damned pretty, too!) ;)

Yay!

Lynn chuckles as she warmly hugs Taylor, gently patting her on the back. "You are one weird chick, you know that? Not that it's a bad thing, of course." She lets her go, smiling, then stiffens up slightly as she faces Jack, squaring her shoulders. "Okay, C.H.U.D. muffin, get over here." She gives Jack a firm hug, not as warm or long as Taylor's, then steps back, swinging her arms to loosen up. "Alright, good talk! Uh, is anybody up for some grub? Oh wait, you have to get back to school, right Taylor?"

So should I just start this, and we see who shows up?
-
Hurm. My one concern about starting this thread early is continuity re: PP spending for the month of November. If this event takes place on 11/10 but is started in October, I think it means we're still using our October builds in a November thread. However, I do see one nifty way around this: it's during the strain of battle that our heroes dig deeper into themselves, and discover newfound powers! For Grim, this would be reconnecting with her primal fae nature and once again accessing her pixie form for her first post after her PP spending approval. Does that seem reasonable?
-
Yeah, the first one is the better option; the only heroes Grim would invite would be ex-Knights, whom she knows in their civvie indentities. Any Interceptors not interested in the party could either hideout in the Underground or be elsewhere.
-
This was getting them nowhere; Grim put her hands on her hips and stared down at her shoes like a state trooper. "Sir, I have reason to believe you might be undead yourself; not a vampire, mind you, but I'm getting a definite Crypt Keeper vibe off of you. Would you be kind enough to step out of the shadows and reveal yourself?" She turned to Breakdown and winked, then lowered her voice and leaned in to speak. "By the way, 'Hunters today, helpers tomorrow, every day a hero'?" She gives him the 'okay' sign and nods. "Kickass."
