"I am survived!" Hernia repair surgery went well, other than a bit of atelactasis that required some antibiotics to clear up my chest. Looking forward to posting this weekend! :D

"Well, It's A Marvelous Night For A Moondance" (IC)
Heritage replied to Heritage's topic in Lantern Hill
Lynn shrugged as she cleared up the rest of the water. “Uh, I dunno, I guess she's fine; she also said she's just the current queen, that they rotate or something based on the seasons. She's the Queen of Summer, and soon her reign will end for the year; she also said I'm aligned with the Winter Court, but the woman behind the counter at Macy's said I'm an Autumn, so I don't know who to believe-" The young woman swallowed and looked vaguely ill. “Okay, yeah, how have the, uh, 'kinfolk' been; well, that Cletus sure is a handful, and Natasha Jean is just growin' like a sprout, I tell ya whut.“ She stops herself and wrinkles her nose. “Sorry. Okay yeah, well, the real truth is my life pretty much sucked until I died in an alley...aaaand an emissary of the Winter Court followed a dream, picked up my lifeless bod and took it back to his Queen. Now I am fey, and I guess things have improved a lot; my mortal soul is now draped in glamour, so Miss Queenie said, but she also said I'm not 'finished', whatever that means." By the time she's done, her cheekiness has drained to dead seriousness. “So that's why I'm here: to be finished. Like a clay pot." -
I'm still in! :super:

Lynn sunk down into her chair, grimacing. "Okay, jeez, I'll be more careful next time..." Rolling her eyes, she took another swig of water- Which she promptly sprayed across the table  Coughing and spitting, she sat up in her chair, using a handful of paper napkins from her bag to mop up some of the mess; thankfully there were no books or papers out. "I'm sorry, what? You started the Line? Forgive me for being blunt, but just how damn old are you?" -
I'm saving my Grapple to hit roll here, to hopefully use in my actual post (sorry, Ace!)

Lynn made to wave goodbye to the clearly upset boy, but he was in serious pout mode, so she let her hand fall to her side. "So, I'm guessing you're Mr Silver? My name is Lynn Epstein, and I was sent here on a mission, or even a quest, I guess you could call it." She pulls a bottle of lukewarm water out of her messenger bag, takes a swig, and wipes her mouth with the back of a fingerless cycling glove. "Are you familiar with the Line of Silver? I was supposed to ask you about it, and give you that bottle." She drops into the recently vacated seat and sighs deeply. "Awesome shop, by the way; reminds me of my grampa's place, but turned up to eleven, y'know?" -
September 12th, 2009 2:07 am So I broke things off with Wesley last weekend. Crap - I hate myself for just typing that. So was it just summer fling with a good-looking, sweet nice guy? There were so many things I wanted our relationship to be, and somehow it just never happened. Was it too soon after Ren? Was I expecting too much of Wes, that he would somehow be the perfect boyfriend and make everything better? Was my first relationship after Ren doomed, and if so, did I just use poor Wes? Oh man, I suck so much. 2:56 am Okay, I'm back! All cried out again, for a while, at least. I hope. Ugh, I hate this part - the autopsy. Wes is a great guy, and he always will be, but we didn't talk about things; I know I held things back from him, like the weirdness that went down at Damien's last Friday night, but I think he held things back from me, too. Sometimes when we were in bed together, he got this weird-ass look in his eye, like he hated himself or was haunted by something. He didn't tell me everything about how he came to be what he is, but the bits he dropped were chilling. So, too many secrets; was that why I ended it? No, not really; I actually don't think we're good for each other. On paper, opposites attract, but it doesn't always work that way; sometimes opposites really piss each other off. I can't speak for Wes, but sometimes his whole 'Southern gentleman' thing annoyed the hell out of me; I get impatient, and sometimes I don't have the time for someone to hold the door for me, I just want to be through it and on the street. And the teammate thing was odd; everyone was totally cool with it, at least to my face, but it just felt...weird. I mean, it was nice to have Wes stroking the back of my hand during briefings, but just having PDA with Avenger and Phantom in the room was just the weirdest thing in the world, even though we kept it to a minimum. But that's not the whole story, either. I think, in my heart of hearts, I never felt I deserved Wes; it's a horrible thing to say, and I know he'd hate to be put on a pedestal like that, but in my gut it always felt true. I hope he finds a great girl with higher self-esteem than me. I will so miss the crazy sex stuff (and we barely scratched the surface!), but I will miss the quiet moments even more. Aw crap, time for another break! 3:22 am God, I suck so much. Ok, tissues are at hand now. I actually spelled-checked all the parts when I started crying, do you believe it? So I dunno what to do now; I haven't talked with any of the other Knights for a few days. I think I might talk to Elena; hell, maybe I'll have her mindwipe us both, like in Eternal Sunshine (such an awesome flick, and no Oscar for Jim Carrey? For shame!). But that might be a bit much. The move out of the Tombs needs to happen now, I put it off forever, but now it will be too much. Or maybe Ace has like a ton of ice cream at his place, like in a giant walk-in freezer; I would so have one if I was that damn rich. I still have Sirrius' number in my phone; I have flipped it open and looked at it like a thousand times this last week. I never called him when I got back from Faerie; that kiss was so damn weird, even without his foxy lips (Wes actually has foxy lips - sigh!) I know I'm gonna breakdown and call him soon, and will feel super-slutty and horrible, but hey, life or something like it goes on. I'm so sorry, Wes.

Some combination of both of these might work best.

Ok, so far it sounds like we've got Angel, Atlas, Grimalkin and River Rat interested in this game. I have never really played poker, so I don't know if four players is enough for a good game. Another tricky thing is I don't know if any of these characters have met! Once these two hurdles are overcome, we can figure out where we want to play, how often, and what form the thread(s) will take. Also how would we simulate play in a thread?
-
It is, but to be honest I don't know how we can work you into this, at least not yet; we'll see how things unfold.
-
So where does this one stand? I think I had the last post.

Estelle looks around at the hubbub of students getting settled in, and thoughtfully strokes her chin "Hmm, perhaps I could actually be of help here." She clears her throat and smiles at the students in the common room. "Hello, I'm Dr Estelle de Havilland, and I will be teaching advanced biology and chemistry this semester. I'm looking forward to seeing some of you in my classes soon, but if anyone needs help today, I'd be very happy to oblige." Her amazing golden hair slowly unfurls into several think tentacles, and she grins broadly. "Does anyone need any help with any furniture? I'm practially a one-woman moving company."

PL10 Grim gets a 46 if she takes 10 on Disguise ;)
-
Grim shifts back to her own form and nods as she looks over her shoulder. "Yeah, the big bada-boom might be a bad idea; you think I should just make like our little princess and knock?" She easily shifts into Belladonna's form and shrugs.

Lynn looked upstairs for a moment, then smiled and approached the boy. "Oh, okay, hi. Um, I have a package I'm supposed to give to Mr Silver?" She pulled her messenger bag around to her front and started digging around inside. "Actually, he's supposed to use it or do something to help me, I guess; the lady who gave it to me was less than clear...pretty much as a rule, I'm thinkin'. Okay, here it is, I got it." The young woman pulled out an unusual bottle and rested it on the table in front of John with a dull thud; the silvery metal body was round and bulbous, about the size of a grapefruit, tapering upward into a fluted neck that twists like a narwhal horn. The stopper was clear heavy glass, cut to look like a rose; attached to the neck by a simple loop of string was a card that merely reads 'Drink me' in elegant, flowing script. Lynn pointed to the card and chuckled. "Classic, huh? Lady's quite the joker." -
Hi gang! So I haven't been around much obviously, but hopefully that will be rectified shortly; however, this time away has made me assess how much time I spend on the site, and I do think I should scale back the number of threads I'm involved in. I'm not rock solid on this yet, but I think after her current threads are done I might want to make Gossamer an NPC; I love this character on paper, but I just don't get into her as far as a roleplaying experience is concerned. I think I'd make her a Tier 1 or 2, so that AA can have fun with her at Claremont. I also seem to have trouble with Grim in large team threads, which is bad because it bogs the whole the thing down for everyone; with a smaller group, I'm fine, but epic threads seem to not work so well. I don't have a hard and fast idea of how many is too many, but I think no more than 3 or 4 threads at a time, with no more than four or five PCs total might be a realistic posting commitment I could safely meet. I love this website dearly and it gives me so much more than I put in, but as I look to start taking classes again and continue working on my other creative projects, I don't want to bite off more than I can chew.

Yeah, I plan on finishing this before month's end, hopefully sooner.

I am down with this :D

OOC threrad for Grim's encounter with Dalkeresh, and possibly others.

So when an ageless Queen of Faerie gives you a set of simple instructions, it's usually wise to follow through; this seemed like a fairly good rule of thumb to Lynn Epstein, who dutifully rode her bike through the rain-slick streets of Lantern Hill on September 4th, the night of the full moon. Four moons had passed since her oh-so-freaky trip to Candyland, and the strange fluted bottle felt heavy in her messenger bag. This is gonna be so weird; I just know it. Silver's Rare Books and Antiquities was quite a sight to see, totally blowing away her Grampa Lou's old store on the Imposing Mysterious Building Scale. She locked her bike out front and pushed the heavy door open. "Whoa." Total Keanu moment. The place was far cooler on the inside, very Ollivander's; using every heightened sense at her disposal, she did her best to drink in the whole place as she strolled around in her clunky boots, cargo shorts and Fleet Messenger T-shirt, her battered plastic helmet tucked jauntily under one arm. "Hello? Anybody home?"

So to wrap up this odd subtopic on just how Jewish Grim is, I've decided for the record she doesn't attend temple on a regular basis, though she does observe the major holidays (Rosh Hashanah is just around the corner!) and does her best to keep kosher; ergo, she can play poker most Friday nights. Bring on the beer and cigars!
-
Oh absolutely! It's just always bothered me in comics when a so-called Jewish character (I'm looking at you, Kitty Pryde!) only displays interest in their religion when it's a major story point about diversity or some crap, and then they deliver a little speech; no one is 100% on any faith, of course, but I want it to be a major part of her life, not just window dressing. Obviously his phenomenon is not limited to comics or Jewish characters.

Ok, based upon genuine internet Talmudic research, I think I can safely say that Grim can play poker on Friday night after temple; if she was a bit more Orthodox, it would be a no-go, but seeing as she's a partially observant Conservative, I give her a free pass for a monthly card game :D
