Oh, this was going to be awkward; not the fashion advice, which would be easy, but broaching the subject she wished to discuss with the notoriously volatile Swede. Better to pour sweet before sour, as her grandma used to say "You look fantastic, Eira, but ah hope you don't plan to quiz Pan about the garden later, because that boy ain't goin' to be lookiin' at any flowers." She paused and took a deep breath. "Eira, why are you so nasty to your parents? Ah mean, you were nicer to the woman who made your soup than you were to your own flesh and blood." She cleared her throat. "Uh, so to speak."

After helping clean up after dinner, and thanking Elsa for all the delicious food, Lulu sought out Eira to have a word. She'd lost a bit of the righteous indignation that had flared up during the meal (tasks like clearing up always helped calm her down), and she was hoping to have a mature and reasonable conversation with the young tech genius. Fingers crossed. "Hey there, Eira. Do you have a minute to talk for a spell?"

Eira was starting to give Lulu a headache; seeing how nasty and dismissive she was towards her own parents, who seemed nothing but sweet and well-meaning, went very much against the Southern tradition of respecting your elders she herself had been raised under. And not being able to communicate with her telepathically made it even more frustrating. Clearing her throat, the young telepath set down her spoon (the gazpacho really was good) and primly folded her hands in her lap before responding to Bernhard's question. "Well sir, ah have been thinkin' about majorin' in psychology, which ah suppose isn't considered to be a hard science." She shrugged. "Ah mean, ah'm a telepath; seems like if ah'm spending so much time in folks' heads, ah should at least try to learn more about the geography, know what ah mean?" She picked up her spoon and shrugged again. "Not sure what, uh, branch of psychology ah'd study yet; lots of areas of study. Y'know, clinical, abnormal, neurology..."

Lulu smiled and put a hand on her friend's arm. "It's cool, Mia. Ah met them the first day Eira came to Claremont; they know about 'the life'." Three years ago, Lulu would be gawking as much as Mia, but living with the Harrows had somewhat inured her to the sight of extreme wealth. Turning to Eira's mom, she smiled sweetly. "If it's alright with you, ma'am, can we be shown to our rooms? Even when the trip only takes a few seconds, it's nice to get settled in, know what ah mean?"

Interest gauging for a Claremont Culinary Fair

Let me add Lulu and her traditional Southern cooking to the mix. I can't remember if she's met Queenie yet, but I don't think so. -

I'm willing to keep this going, if you're up for it. -
"Lulu Beaumont, at your service, sir." She offered a playful curtsy. "Ah know some of his stories; they tend to be a little sad, don't they? Not like the Disney versions." At the mention of obtaining superpowers from the books, she looked quite alarmed. "So you mean this feller's goin' to trade his voice for fins, or somethin' lile that? Boy, some folks will do anything to be special. And if he's mean enough to beat up a sweet old man, ah'd be happy to stop him." The whole time she's been keeping an eye on their would-be book thief.

Lulu was not super-athletic by nature, and a childhood spent slathered in sunscreen meant she hadn't been a big beachgoer, but she could still swim well enough. She opted for maximum skin coverage, a full wetsuit that wrapped around her very nicely, proving that some people really do look good in everything. Looking down at herself, the telepathic redhead chuckled. "Oh mah goodness! Ah look like a Bond girl! Good thing ah had a light breakfast, because this outfit ain't hidin' nothin'." After double-checking all her gear, she gave Adam a quick peck on the cheek, then put in her mouthpiece and jumped overboard. Soon she made her way down to others without much difficulty, giving Veronica a thumbs up.

Lulu sat on a large leather-bound steamer trunk near Mia, seemingly lost in thought, wearing light hiking boots, blue denim overalls, and bright yellow stripped top. She'd protected her fair skin with a wide-brimmed straw hat, big round sunglasses and what smelled like a whole bottle of sunscreen. A daypack covered in colorful patches rested on the trunk beside her The normally chatty redhead had been prone to quiet spells since returning from her trip back to Alabama; seeing her family again, even as part of legal proceedings, had been very difficult. She would never be able to forget the seething storm of fury that boiled behind her father's eyes when his gaze landed on his 'traitorous' daughter. But things were getting better since she'd returned to Freedom, back to her new home and family, people who were actually happy to see her. She'd been fairly quiet most of the morning, acknowledging her friends with nods and smiles, but once they'd finally arrived at Eira's ancestral manse (which is what you really had to call it), she forced her dark mood away, intrigued to finally meet her roommate's parents. "Nice to see you again, Herr Natt och Dag," she said with a smile and the slightest of bows; her accent wasn't great, but it was obvious she'd put some effort into it. "And thank you for havin' us in your home. Is it okay if ah bring mah trunk in? It looks like it might rain." Her trunk floated behind her.

I'm so sorry, Bourbon. I'm taking a brief hiatus from the site for personal reasons. Unfortunately this obviously impacts all my threads, like this one. I don't think it will be a long break, possibly as short as a month. Again, my apologies ?

Lulu furrowed her brow in thought. "Ah don't think we have any other shapeshifters right now, but there may be some underclassmen ah don't know. It actually is a fairly big school." Noticing the way Leon changed his name sticker, she pointed at it. "Can change things, like rearrangin' molecules or somethin'?"

ic A good heart these days is hard to find...
Heritage replied to Tiffany Korta's topic in Bedlam City
Eel decided it would probably be best to talk to someone at this party so she wouldn't stand out do much, but it definitely appeared to be one of those affairs where everyone knew everyone else. Not too surprising among the small world of the rich and famous. At length, she noticed someone else who seemed a bit out of place, so she sidled over to an African-American woman and initiated small talk. "Hullo there! I'm afraid it's my first time at one of these affairs, and I'm not sure how rude I'm supposed to be to the help. Perhaps you could assist me?" The twinkle in her eye was quite obvious as raised the champagne to her lips. -
Lulu happily dipped a satay skewer into some peanut sauce as she pondered the question. "Ah mean sure, we can do that! Poor little Pluto, off on its own with none of the cool planets to play with." She hungrily bit off some chicken, getting peanut sauce all over herself. "So, if we do a Solar System model, how accurate can we do scale? Aren't all the Outer Planets way farther out than the Inner ones?" She waved her half-eaten satay like a wand, and an illusionary representation of the Solar System appeared, though not super accurate since astronomy was not Lulu's forte; she'd definitely compressed things to get all the planet's together within a six foot circle. Still, it was visually impressive to see the various planets slowly revolve around a Sun roughly the size of a golf ball.

Oh no, not right now! I'm in the middle of a thing! Ugh, why'd it have to be evil speedsters? Realizing that crime waited for no man or woman, Casey sighed as she radically sped herself up, while doing her best to keep perfectly still, though even for her, it was damn near impossible. There was a slight humming noise and a disturbance in the air, almost as though a hummingbird was floating right in the middle of Casey and Nick's impromptu picnic. Please don't notice please don't notice please don't notice...

Oh s###... Casey didn't curse very often, or at least not out loud, but she had been corrupted a bit by her sorority sisters. If there was anything that warranted a four-letter word, it was a AU Terrifica who'd 'fixed the whole human problem'. What was it about her friend and mentor that led her down this path if unchecked? Human connection, she supposed, or the lack of same. "Look, we're happy to help; we help people all the time. I'm okay on the tech stuff, but I will happily yield to the experts in the room." She sighed and crossed her arms across her chest; more than likely, her main usefulness in this scenario would probably be her compassion and insight into `Mom's' brain. "Speed, strength and flight are kind of my big three. My senses are sharp, too, and I shoot heat rays out of my eyes." She shrugged and smiled. "That's me in a nutshell. Well, that and I'm a wiz at tying knots."

When Eira first proposed her bizarre 'Olympic' color scheme to Lulu and Mia, the Southern redhead was distinctly not happy; how come she had to be third place? But then she thought about it and did some research, and found out that bronze was an excellent shade for redheads, and then she was all in! After a seeming eternity of waiting, Lulu finally came out to join her boyfriend, grinning like the Cheshire cat. "Hey, handsome! Miss me?" Her dress was a beautiful Art Deco-inspired affair that shimmered and danced as she moved, with a playful frilled fringe about the hem. A circlet with a feather plume on the side highlighted her...short bobbed hair?! Had the telepath actually cut off her signature tresses? "Don't worry, it's just an illusion; ah couldn't figure out how to pin it up right, so ah finally gave up and cheated!" She floated up to his height, draped her arms over his shoulders and gave him an apologetic kiss. "Sorry to keep you waitin' so long, hon!"

Lulu gestured towards Davyd. "Sure, feel free to tag along." Then she focused her attention back on the newcomers. "Powers or no powers, you can learn a lot at Claremont!" She pinched her lower lip thoughtfully. "Maybe we should head to the gym first; that's a good place to show off a little bit. We got weights, punchin' bags and balance beams. And feel free to ask me or Davyd any questions you have. Oh, ah nearly forgot!" She handed Leon and Callie each a small piece of adhesive paper with their names printed on them, as well as the word 'VISITOR'. "Here you go!"
