Lynn's eyes go soft and sad as she tightens her grip on Wesley's hand. "Hey, no, I didn't mean it that way; you've gotta follow your bliss, dude. You're an artist, and that almost never pays well, unless you're like that spooky Kat Von D chick on cable, with your own show and stuff. If you do what you love and you're happy, that trumps everything else as far as I'm concerned." She shakes her head firmly. "Never be ashamed of what you are...unless you're like a serial killer or something, and then pride in your work is just plain wrong." She takes another big bite of samosa and grins. "So I can visit you and you can visit me, no worries; I'm mean, it's not like I won't be hanging around 'Fun Zone Central' all the time either way, right? We'll see each other all the time." Soon the main entrees arrive, and Lynn rubs her hands together with glee as she smiles at the waitress. "Ooh, yummy yummy yummy, thanks! So standard rules of Asian and Indian food apply here, as far as I'm concerned, so everything is up for grabs; mi plate es su plate, okay?" She spoons a big mass of rice onto her plate, then covers it in toor dal as she hums merrily in anticipation of spicy delight.

I'm with Doc on this bit o' confusion; I know I missed a few days but I have no idea where Grim is, since she volunteered to go into Phantom's cloak, but I can see her being of use in dealing with Columbia. PL8 Grim can keep herself concealed fine with her Blending power, but what about the others if DS isn't with us?

There are many wonderful things about Estelle de Havilland's amazing hair, but it also leads to several challenges; for instance, showering in a conventional shower is a something of a nightmare, and wastes a tremendous amount of water, but some problems are more subtle. One of them is that it makes certain kinds of activities too easy, which leads to inevitable abuse. "Hmm, maybe the sofa would look better over here..." Estelle has been arranging and rearranging the furniture in her new apartment for the better part of a week, and she's still not satisfied; she effortlessly holds a leather sofa, glass-topped coffee table and two chairs up with strands of her golden locks, placing them first here then there like checkers on a board. Thankfully this pointless fussing about is interrupted by a call from Ms. Harcourt on her cellphone, and she just lowers the pieces down more or less at random. "Hello, Stephanie, how are you? Your timing couldn't be better!" She curls up on the sofa, her hair draping over it majestically.
-
"Yes, that will be fine..." Estelle feels horrible; like an idiot, she foolishly though that a school for gifted youngsters would be the perfect place to 'let loose', but these students are still people, and no one expects anyone's hair to suddenly explode. Eyes cast downward, she walks quietly behind her guide, the menacing golden cloud demurely folding back into its very proper braid. In addition, the poor girl's reaction spoke volumes; had Erin been the victim of abuse prior to coming to Claremont? Of course one hears horror stories of children and adolescents being bullied by parents and classmates; was Erin such a child? Where her special gifts somehow the cause or or even the result of such violence? Her stomach twists at the thought. She wants to apologize to the young woman, but is afraid to call attention to her reaction lest it embarrass her or stir up painful memories. "How long have you been a student here, Erin? If you don't mind me asking, of course."

I was about to have Grim do a Tracking roll based on Super-Sense, but due to some questions on implementation, it's going to the GM Discussion Forum ;)

You are awesome, Alder! I love it! :D

Grim simply nodded as she wrapped the night around her and disappeared from view; a soft whisper floats out of the air. "Alright, you're not gonna see or hear me, but I'm still up front, okay guys?" The sneaky young shapeshifter moves soundlessly forward, fairly sure that only her teammate Phantom can sense her, but you never know, right? Her eyes, ears and nose almost tingle as she tries her best to be alert for anything.

Gossamer will make her much-delayed appearance here tonight! :super:

Estelle grins warmly as she extends a hand to the young lady; the stately blonde is wearing a crisp gray suit and a single golden braid as thick as her arm falls down her back to brush her ankles. She speaks with a distinctly upper crust Long Island accent. "Hello Erin, I'm Dr Estelle de Havilland; looks like I should be teaching chemistry here soon." How odd; Erin's hand seemed surprisingly soft for a girl with such a strong grip, but it wasn't like Estelle's own hand spoke of any sort of hardship, and she could lift six tons, though of course she used a different sort of appendage. Suddenly Estelle throws a mischievous look over her shoulder. "Is Ms. Dugan gone? It's a beautiful day and I desperately need to unwind." Seeing that her future boss in no longer present, she sighs deeply and allows the braid to unfurl into a massive shimmering cloud that tumbles and twists in the gentle summer breeze. She closes her eyes and basks in the freedom for a moment. "Ah, that's heaven!" Estelle shakes her head clear and grins. "Mmm, that's so much better! Alright, let's visit your favorite part of the school first."
-
Estelle sighs, and her hair unfurls to form a sort of 'privacy shield' between the pair of them and the ever-prying cameras. "I'm sure you're quite right, but at least any adolescent behavior will be displayed by actual adolescents; I've been attractive my whole life, Doktor, I can handle a few misdirected hormones." At last, the waitress signals that their table is ready, and the blonde heroine gently extends tendrils to pick up both of their plates as well as her beer; her wide golden 'sail' retracts slightly as she gracefully glides into the next room, so as to not inconvenience her fellow diners.

Grim nods, noting the newfound sleepiness of the wee ones. Interesting; a much more benign use of his power, I guess. She banks and swoops along, happy to be free of her old dank squat; as cool as it was to live free of the entanglements of modern life, is was always kinda weird and stressful. But all that was about to change; the young shapeshifter grins evilly. Avenger will sort that bastard Pitt out; boy, I wish I could see his face when he runs smack into somebody way scary than he is! Humming a happy tune, she lets her strange new friend lead her to a new life, full of promise.

On second thought, after skimming the earlier piece, maybe Gargoyle should just be hanging out there herself; I'll read the whole thing and figure it out either way.
-
Start the thread, and Lenny will come :)

Okay, so I have an idea for a new criminal alias for Grim; 'Gargoyle' is basically her goblin form with a few aesthetic changes. She's playing it as though it was just an Alternate Form with a fixed stealth-based power set, not unlike Komodo for Marvel's The Initiative; the 'character' of Gargoyle finds her monstrous form repulsive, but it earns her money. She might have some abilities in her 'normal' form, much like Grim, but her much-enhanced 'working' form is what she'll use on the job. 'Lenny Stein' would serve as the intermediary between Gargoyle and any interested parties. Does that sound like it would work?
-
Yes I would, if it's not too late.

Hi, sorry it took me so long to respond, it was my turn to be out of town. This seems workable; I can see Grim going along on this mission in order to get intel to bring back to the Knights as well as ingratiate herself into the criminal element. The main thing I have to figure out is who she's going in as, since Grimalkin is a known hero. Last year she created an alias named 'Whisper' for a casino heist right before my hiatus, but I am slightly reluctant to use it, since she disappeared in the middle of the heist and it went badly for the remaining crew; logically this would give her a bad reputation, though I guess we could sort of handwave that aspect of it. Give me a day or two to figure out my angle, but feel free to offer suggestions.

Hi all! Got back from GenCon tonight; had a great time, except I was unable to get into the kind of M&M game I wanted to, since I really want to experience it as tabletop. Oh well, still had a blast!

Okay, so in a little over two hours, I'll be heading off to GenCon, which means I won't be much of a presence here until Sunday night when we get back. On the plus side, I will have a lot more creative time and energy once I get back!
-
Lynn puts her hand behind his head and pulls him closer. "My name is Grimalkin. I fight crime." Then she pulls him in for a kiss, right on the lips; it's passionate, but not in a sexual way per se. When she let's him go, there are tears in her eyes, but she's smiling. "In case I don't get another chance, y'know?" The strange creature who calls herself Grimalkin closes her eyes, takes a deep breath, and lets the arcane forces pull her under...
-
Estelle merely shrugs. "Fair enough." At last, she is done with all the paperwork; setting her pen aside, she looks up expectantly at Ms. Dugan. "So, what's next?"
-
Grim strokes her chin thoughtfully. "Hmm, the old 'Trojan Phantom' trick, eh? I like it! Except the thought of going back into the cloak again, but I guess we have to if we want to go home, right? So I volunteer, I guess."
-
Lynn grimaces with little humor. "Uh, no, not really, but I think I might have to; isn't that what that Joseph Campbell guy wrote about, the 'Hero's Journey'? I think I have to go alone; it's like the rules or something." Her right arm has now disappeared up to her shoulder, and she is really freaking out. "Oh God, it feels really weird now, like my arms underwater. Ahh, something just brushed past it! I can't-" The terrified brunette finally closes her eyes for a few moments and takes a deep breath, visibly steeling herself for an ordeal; when she opens them, there is a thin veneer of calm laid over the blind panic. Her voice is firm with an edge of fear. "I need to do this; I may be scared ****less right now, but it's worse not knowing what I am." Half of her torso is gone, along with most of her right leg; she gestures to Sirius with her free arm. "C'mere, I need to tell you something, before I go. Come in close."
-
The very instant the wings sprout out of her back, Grim leaps out the shattered window without a moment's hesitation; she has never flown under her own power until tonight, so where is this insane self-confidence coming from? Holding the chin-up bar by both ends to keep the cat carriers from sliding off, she banks to the left, swooping gracefully towards the street. She looks back at Wes and shouts over her shoulder, "Which way?"
